Das Frühstück ist tatsächlich eine Frechheit und nicht zu unterbieten. Es gab im Prinzip nur das Hotelzimmer und sonst keine Aufenthaltsmöglichkeiten. In der Toilette war Schimmel. Wenn man es als 5 Sterne kennzeichnet, dann muss es dem auch entsprechen.

Chambre spacieuse, très bien équipée, parfaitement insonorisée et surtout, lit extrêmement confortable ; loin des literies dures comme la pierre qui sont souvent la norme au Japon. Quant à l’emplacement, il ne peut pas être meilleur à Kyoto. En bref, l’un des meilleurs hôtels dans lequel j’ai séjourné lors de mes nombreux voyages au Japon. Air conditionné un peu bruyant

They had no breakfast facilities, the breakfast was brought to the room but it was not European, so we were always hungry afterwards. • Kaitlyn (10/5): Convenient and comfortable! - The location of this hotel is incredible to subway and central Kyoto. The room is so spacious, especially compared to our rooms in Tokyo. The bed was the most comfortable we had in Japan. Staff were very kind and helpful, especially with helping to ship our bags to our next hotel. This is a property I will absolutely recommend to anyone I know coming to Kyoto. Did feel a bit dated in some places.

• Carly (10/5): Luxury and location - The property is perfectly located along the river in the gion district- it’s much quieter along the river and our kids loved playing down by it and watching all the animal life! Walking distance from a million wonderful food options and coffee shops and the staff was so helpful and kind. It’s truly felt luxurious! The bath and the beds were otherworldly and it felt like you were just being pampered at every step. We loved the comfortable cloud sleeping and are missing it already!

• Aletta (5/5): Not a 5 star hotel. - Position Absolutely not a 5 star hotel as rated on booking.com. No assistance with luggage, no room service, no visibility of staff, no luxury. We had a shock when we walked into our room. It was dirty and smelled of cigarettes and damp. We immediately went back to reception and the staff came with us to show us where the toilet spray is to use in the room. After complaining they did move us to a cleaner room but probably 3 star quality.

Breakfast was served in the room which means you don’t have choice of what you want to eat! We also had a room on the 1st floor and people from the street could look into the room.

The location of the Alza Hotel is perfect, next to the Kamokawa, giving you easy access to restaurants, shops, shrines, temples, gardens and everything the beautiful city of Kyoto offers. The metro or train stations and the bus stops are very near and if you choose to call a taxi, the hotel staff will gladly help you to get one easily. Although in the heart of a busy quarter, this hotel is a quiet retreat with a calm atmosphere. The room was spacious and very confortable. Breakfast is served in your room and you can choose Japanese or western. In general the hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful, attentive to all our requests.. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this hotel. If you come in the Sakura season the Alza hotel is surrounded by the cherry blossom! We liked everything. Only would perhaps suggest the western breakfast could include some cereals and more choice of fruit and iogurt. Having said that, we didn't ask for it. But I asked for matcha and they got me a nice mild matcha every morning. The Japanese breakfast was very good.

Good coffee and cookies available downstairs. Staff made extra effort to relocate us to our room of choice. Breakfast is served to the room. We ordered both the European and Japanese breakfast and both were fine. Many restaurants and attractions within walking distance. Blue, green and red LED lights of electronic controls light up the room at night. Needed to cover with pillows. We had to pay 1600 yen tax despite the fact that the booking stated clearly that no additional charges apply. We would have rated this property 10 if they had been candid about the extra tax

Perfect location—walkable to many sights and just minutes from the train and buses, even a direct line to Fushimi—yet quiet and relaxing away from the crowds. Staff were warm and helpful, and as a solo traveller, I really appreciated the generous touches, with two of everything provided in the room. Many hotels don't. Highly recommend. nothing

It is in a key spot close to the river, so it was easy to walk around and enjoy the area. It felt convenient, charming and relaxing. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The bathtub and jacuzzi were a huge plus and made the stay feel extra special after a long day out. The amenities were excellent, and everything felt well thought out. The staff was so kind, helpful, and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kyoto.

The hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff were very friendly and the facilities excellent. Our breakfast was brought to our room (standard procedure). We enjoyed a Japanese breakfast each morning. • Christine (10/5): I wanted to never leave. - This was the most gorgeous hotel room I've ever stayed in. The lighting, the gorgeous laquerware, the bathroom!! Every imaginable sundry item provided. I felt like "this is how gazillionaires live." At a price I could afford! Location was central to everything, close to the subway, the staff was super friendly and helpful. I never wanted to leave. I couldn't go out on the balcony, probably for safety reasons.
