Guest Reviews
- Sarah (8/5): - A lovely stay despite the Covid precautions
- Verified traveler (10/5): Brilliant - Wonderful excellent service . Would highly recommend .
- Verified traveler (2/5): - i received an email via Expedia the night i was to check-in telling me that latest check-in time was 1830pm....!!!
totally un.acceptable to pull this stunt at last minute.
Arriving at the premises at 2115. there was no.one around, I called the ph number listed on Expoedia booking and it rang out. Shortly after i received a phone call from a person who berated me and listed the rules and told me i was too late to check in.
i was then told that my room was NOT availalable and i should seek accommodation elsewhere.
i have been charged for this room and was refused access.
I will escalate this on social media.
I also want a refund from Expedia.
TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.
- Naresh (2/5): WORST PLACE. NOT RECOMMENDED. NOT FOR FAMILIES. - Booked 3 nights. Contacted Lorna (owner) 24hrs before arrival & she was unaware of booking & sounded rude. Check in details via text was unclear. Narrow lane to the cottage was terrible & ruined car’s suspension. On arrival, no allocated parking spaces. Room was small with narrow stairway with no rail. Bed linen and towels were old & scruffy. No bathroom latch & hair inside shower cubicle. Went out & returned to find there was no parking spaces/had to park where I found some space. Received text from Lorna (9.45 pm) to move car ASAP and found this inconvenient. The Breakfast time (8-9am) was inconvenient/short. Don’t be surprised to find limited supply of milk and bread. On day 2 (Morning), my son was in the toilet & unknowingly flushed his soiled toilet wipes. Within a few mins, Lorna was at the door stating “I need to check the toilet right now”. Despite my wife mentioning our son is in the toilet, she insisted on checking & barged in with no respect to privacy. My little one was startled as he stood undressed in toilet. We apologised to her as our child had put his soiled wipes into the toilet. Lorna rudely mentioned that “the toilet is blocked now & can’t be used”. Very disappointed with hostility/rudeness. Would have appreciated if Lorna checked toilet when we were away from room My son felt very humiliated. We vacated the room immediately without breakfast & 1 night to spare. Our short break was ruined due to owner’s rudeness. Not recommended for families with kids.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Property is accessed via a single track farm road more suited to a 4*4 than a family car.
Part of the garden is cordoned off and is not accessible.
Actual room we stayed in (Lavender) was ok, although the curtain rail was propped up with a broom on arrival. Host did call later to check if that was the case and apologised for leaving it there unintentionally and confirmed that it could be removed with fear of the curtains falling. View from the windows was limited but quite picturesque. Complimentray tea/cofee in the room and cake provided on arrival, which was a nice touch.
Bathroom was ok, clean and tidy. Provided with a bottle of hand soap and some small tubes of conditioner and body lotion. No shampoo. The taps were on the opposite sides to what we were used to (cold on the left, hot on the right) which was a minor inconvenience. Hot water ran out twice, once when my wife was using the bathroom and once when my son was showering, although it was only for a short time.
Cot bed provided was not very good so our son slept in the double bed with us. Bed was quite comfortable with plenty of pillows.
Breakfast was ok, choice of 5 cereals, pancakes, choice of eggs or english breakfast. Juice and coffee provided.
Asked the host about places to eat for dinner and received the less than enthusiastic response of "you can google it". Really would have expected some suggestions of good local restaurants.
The host did provide suggestions of places to visit for sight seeing
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely quiet location. Staff were fun and friendly, and the breakfast was excellent
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely enjoyable stay - Lovely stay and beautiful surroundings
Lovely hearty breakfast in the morning also and beautiful cakes on arrival
The only downside was that the single bed for my son was just a camp bed , but other than that lovely stay .
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Lovely property. Great view and scenery. Not the best set up for a young child and not enough attention to detail in the room, especially with the tea and coffee facilities.
- Lee (4/5): - No hot water and bed not made up.
- Mutly (10/5): Great value, dramatic scenery. - Great value character cottage. Beautiful location. Dramatic scenery. Helpful welcome. Breakfast well balanced.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Fabulous location, service so so. - The location and the property itself are fabulous. Check in was not very welcoming and staff seem rather inflexible, especially when it comes to arrivals at a later time than 6pm.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Tranquil get away in a stunning location.
- Hazel (8/5): Lovely stay in the countryside - Lovely room in a beautiful setting. The owners were so welcoming and the breakfast was delicious. We will definitely return and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- Robert (10/5): Great location for walking the Roaches - The Peak District is great to visit and the accommodation is well situated for exploring the area. Accommodation was clean and breakfast was excellent. Steep stairs to rooms may be an issue for some. Excellent pub a few minutes away. Good selection of amenities available including tea, real milk and even a freshly baked cake on arrival.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Two night stay - Lovely cottage, breakfast fabulous, owner very friendly made us very welcome. Would recommend booking the annexe if you are a couple wanting privacy.
- luke (10/5): Great stay!!! - Lovely people and a lovely room! *****
Perfect location for walks as well as some nice eateries, perfect for a weekend away from the city.
