Guest Reviews
- Chris (7/5): - Convenient and good price Could be tidier
- Alexander (7/5): -
- stacey (6/5): -
- Selwyn (8/5): Value, comfort and charm. - Really surprised that the room was so spacious and comfortable. It was the cheapest one, too. No downsides for this type of property really.
- Brian (7/5): -
- Tina (5/5): - Rooms was ok bed comfy tea and coffee facilities The actual pub was not nice not very inviting
Lots of noise out side also the railway crossing kept us awake as the alarm was going off every time a train was coming then u heard the train roaring past very noisy
Carpark was so narrow to get into we decided to park our car elsewhere
- Gwenyth (3/5): Would not recommend - Great location, nice historic building, close to the beach The staff was friendly but these rooms desperately need an upgrade. The hallway and the hallway carpet was very dirty. The room was spacious and had nice details but there was dust and cobwebs behind the bed, there was stained carpeting in the bathroom around the toilet and on opening an odd door in the shower room- found an old discarded mattress stuffed in a closet.
The whole place needs a refurb, new carpeting, decent bedding and a good clean.
- Bruce (7/5): - I didn't take breakfast there There was a problem with the hot water
- Alan (7/5): -
- Maggie (2/5): - I specifically informed you I had a dog. They dont take dogs. It was scruffy and my family had to book us elsewhere at exorbitant cost. Therefore I demand my money back.
- Martin (1/5): We would not ever go this place again - The place was noisy, absolutely filthy, the stairs was so dirty when we saw the state of the place we left and look for another hotel and was prepared to lose our payment Nothing
- Sally (7/5): - Its location, very close to buses trains shops and cafes. Large rooms with basic facilities but everything you needed was there and clean I would like to point out that on my original booking it said I could book in between 5 and 8pm on that day which was a Sunday, this was written on a message or email from booking.com the day before. I tried to call the phone no provided to verify this as I was driving from Devon and wanted to visit a friend before checking in, but no reply on several occasions. Whilst visiting my friend in Worthing a lady from Crabtree pub phoned me at 6pm to say they closed at 6pm on a Sunday and can I get there quickly as then there were no staff. Unfortunately I had to cut short my visit to my friend in Worthing as I had not long arrived, so I could drive quickly to the pub. This visit was one of the reasons for travelling to Sussex. I said to the lady at the Crabtree about the check in time I was given but she said they always closed at 6pm on a Sunday.
Also having been shown to my room she explained there was no staff there till following lunchtime and I was unable to find a WiFi code anywhere in the room
- Dorren (4/5): It was a bed and roof. A party of 6, only sleeping there. Would feel sorry for anyone staying with c - The bed was clean No hot water or heating
- John (3/5): - Location was ideal Reception staff times were limited,
- Lisa (9/5): -
- Timothy (2/5): -
- Clive (2/5): Very disappointing. - Bed was comfortable Room was dirty (much dust and cobwebs). Broken tiles in the bathrooom. Worn carpet. All very dated and tatty. Lighting gloomy.
No hot water apart from the electric shower; therefore, no chance of using the bath.
Room was cold. Had to ask for the heating to be turned on; even then was just told that the hot water "takes a while to run through". It didn't and, I suspect, was never going to. Previous reviews also note a lack of hot water, so this is a known issue.
Car park and garden are a neglected mess. Broken bottles/old fridge/mattresses etc litter the car park plus general other dumped rubbish. External lighting very poor and a general feeling of being unsafe at night.
Building is run down and the bar area soulless. Don't believe the photos.
Didn't eat there. Having seen the dirty other areas, I didn't want to risk it.
Room overlooked the railway, which I was aware of. However, the freight trains are very noisy as they rumble through, compared to the quiet regular passenger trains.
Cannot recommend.
- ian (1/5): Hideous the place is well run down - No breakfast The ed sheets smell they smell of damp
No heating or hot water only in the shower
- Fernandes (1/5): - Nothing emergency call did not work They not help anything emergency
- David (1/5): Irretrievably bad deserving a refund - The bed Everything else. No hot water for a start
- Matthew (4/5): Wipe your feet on the way out. - One helpful member of staff.
The nighttime fox improved the smell. Just too much to write
- Nick (7/5): Ok, if you like lots of noise outside!n - The bar manager and landlady, Clare. She was very friendly.
The bed was very comfortable, and I managed to sleep very well. •The hot water took a good 10 minutes to reach the wash hand basin to enable me to wash my hands and shave.
• The television only showed BBC1 but NO OTHER CHANNELS.
• The location was right next to the railway station and level crossing, so was sometimes kept awake by the trains going across it regularly which made a terrible racket!
• Well overpriced at £100 per night given all the downsides.
- Colin (2/5): Don't bother . Wldnt stay again - Didn't have to walk far to get a beer . Fish and chip shop across the road Staff not approachable. Tv didn't work. Staff member came to have a look . Admitted it was not good. Wasn't offered another room. Told to leave if we didn't like it. Very rude
Bad attitude. Room not worth the money. Also place locked up by 9pm
No staff around
- Wakefield - Smith (8/5): - Staff excellent. Bed comfortable. Only issue was summer duvet, needed winter duvet due to temperature drop in evening.
- Neil (10/5): -
- amalettie (10/5): -
- Lee (6/5): -
- JOHN (1/5): Will be pursuing my Monet back - I forewarned the hotel that I would arrive lat3 and gave them the option to get back to me which they didn’t do. When I arrive it was filly locked up, no lights, no answer. Had to find alternative accommodation lat3 at night!! Not letting me in!
- Tim (2/5): - Heavy Metal band playing below my room until 23:45 and no WiFi.
- Jones (4/5): I will not be going there again. - Breakfast was never an option. The room had one radiator but it wasn’t working or they didn’t use the boiler.
- Steve (10/5): -

- robertne (2/5): Never again - Az egyetlen dolog a kenyelmes agy volt. -middle of February, no heat, freezing cold in the room. No hot water from the sink,
-no toilet paper,
-i dont think the room was cleaned the last few months,
-no wifi, no good signal in tv,
-very noisy as the train station is next the hotel and every 5-10 minutes train goes,
-garden area and front of the building is OMG.
-highly over prices for £80.
-no restaurant in the hotel as its says on bookings, no food at all.
I will give a positive 2 star only because the bed was comfi and the girl was friendly from the pub who showed the room.
- Kevin (5/5): - No Breakfast The fire alarm malfunctioning
- Raphael (9/5): - I fought the stuff with great they helped me and the accommodated my request for an early check-in etc The willy nest to help
- Vincent (3/5): Disappointing - Very central Very noisy, room was tatty, curtains were torn, just needs some tlc, not enough towels
- Ralph (10/5): -
- Philip (3/5): Better than nothing, I suppose, but quite disappointing overall. - It was a reasonable travelling distance from Goodwood. The landlord was very friendly and served a good pint of real ale. The rooms were distinctly dowdy, one without en-suite facilities. The room smelt slightly damp on first entering. Coffe-making facilities were provided - but no kettle to actually boil the water. No breakfast of any kind available. Very close to the station and level crossing so a bit noisy both late night and early morning. No chance of an early night on Saturday due to the live music downstairs.
- Tim (7/5): -
- millie (10/5): - It was clean and tidy and the bed was tidy aswell Only thing was I wish the shower was a bit hot
- Mark (5/5): There was a rockabilly event taking place in the pub, so was extremely noisy until after midnight, d - The town was nice to walk around and explore. The pub was quite run down with no food available and the surrounding area smothered in litter.
- Cathy (1/5): This place has issues until they are corrected i would not recommend staying here - Nothing Everything
- Elliott (6/5): Great location for Shoreham airport - Location good, staff friendly Shared bathroom facility was old fashioned and tired.
- deborah (5/5): For us it was convenient as visiting friends . The bedroom was filthy but the nets were literally falling apart . You do - Close to amenities we needed Ripped net curtains , built up rubbish at bottom of the stairs and outside
- Rob (10/5): -
- Vicki (7/5): -
- john (4/5): -
- Daniels (2/5): Will not recommend to anyone and could not believe the price of our stay would luv my money back - The shower was shocking
No heating through the night
The access to car park was extremely tight
The kettle was disgusting no chance of a brew with that.
Room very dated
Bathroom floor carpeted which is not nice at all
The hall way leading to the stairs up.to room really needs a clean full of what looked like rubbish
- Lee (10/5): - Lovely local atmosphere
- Philip (7/5): -
- Maureen (8/5): - Everything we needed for an overnight stay, comfortable bed, lovely hot shower, with free shower gel. Tea, coffee and biscuits. Easy access for Shoreham town and free parking.
They even supplied ear plugs to keep the sounds of the train crossing out
- Barbara (7/5): Expensive for what it was. - Location was perfect for us. 1 min from railway station. Live band below in pub was loud....ear buds provided on tea tray!
Net curtains ripped with several large holes.
Shower screens thick with lime scale.
This made the place feel unloved. But bed was very comfy.
Expensive for what it was....breakfast not included.
- Carl (7/5): cheap, comfortable - good location, close to where i needed to be it was ok
- Nicky (7/5): -
- Angel (4/5): - It was a cold over night and there were no water glasses in the room.
- Michael (10/5): Very comfortable. Very convenient fir town and ses. - Location is just around the corner from railway station. Nothing really.
- Kevin (2/5): You have been warned! - Spacious room. Period.
Fuller's ales. How long have you got? We arrived 30 minutes past our expected time after long journey through the dark with continuous rain. Bar staff said manager not down till 6pm. We sat in darkened not warm bar till 6.
Room spacious but v cold. Only one bedside lamp. Net curtains were badly torn. Curtains themselves were flimsy. Though staff member turned on radiator it never got warm let alone hot. Nor did tap water. Never even tried the shower.
Staff member seemed embarrassed throughout. Manager never even spoke to us though there were no other guests. More attention paid to two lapdogs lying in dogbeds in main bar beside a table at which the hotel business was 'conducted'.
Exit via firedoor was always open right through the night, I.e. entry could be gained at all times by anybody. As we entered via the car park at around 11, we 'disturbed' a couple having sex a tergo over the front nearside wing of their car.
Room was cold throughout the night. So were we. We slept fitfully and were never comfortable. No one to complain to anywhere or get a further blanket.
Horrible - and sad. The whole place needs someone to manage and care for even love it. Be proud of the place, as Shoreham seems to have very few places to stop at. But never again this place. U less it undergoes a radical transformation. BEWARE - YOU ARE WARNED.
- Les (10/5): - Lovely 2 night stay thank you 😊
- Brian (5/5): A bit tired - Location Frankly it was a bit "tired".
- Robin (5/5): -
- Tebb (4/5): Ok for what we wanted. Not really good value for money. - The location was good for what we wanted. Free parking but the entrance going in and out was so tight, just about got our vehicle through.
Shower was nice and hot. Just felt run down and not the cleanest.
Felt a bit like a hostel and for the price we paid, we expected a bit more.
Bedding didn’t smell or look clean.
- Colin (1/5): Never again. - Nothing I can think of although location was convenient for me. Car park unlit and access so narrow it was very difficult to get a medium size car in. Radiators in room did not work so they left a very old dirty electric heater in the middle of the room. Bedding just grubby and mattress uncomfortable. Location next to railway station. I knew that but what I wasn't told was that heavy engineering works going on through the night right outside my window. Impossible to sleep. These works had been going on for weeks and I was told was public knowledge locally so the hotel knew about them. They also left ear plugs beside the bed so again must have known this was a major problem. Railway line and road was closed throughout the night to enable these works. Stay was so bad I left at 5.00am on my second and last night there having had no sleep at all.
- Dennis (7/5): -
- Sheila (3/5): Sadly, unable to recommend. - The very helpful staff and the location was great. It was in a very poor state.
- Piers (7/5): -
- Paul (3/5): - Close to station Loud music
- Martine (6/5): - Hebben geen ontbijt gehad Restaurant was gesloten ivm een feestje
- Simon (4/5): Ok for work but wouldn’t stay there for anything else! - Facilities Old decor and close to railway line!
- Elizabeth (8/5): Convenient, well-appointed, comfortable, and ideal for an over-night stay. - Friendly staff/owner. Appreciated the upgrade. Really comfortable bed. Given location, very quiet and undisturbed.
- Stephen (4/5): Disappointing to be in a tired room that needs a lot of tlc. - Position was perfect for our requirements. Close to the airport and surrounded by good places to eat within short walking distance. Room 2 bed needs renewing completley.
No water coming out of hot tap on sink in the bathroom. Have now seen previous references to this on TripAdvisor.
Carpet at side of bath was badly worn and had been covered with ceramic floor tiles, one of which was broken in three piece. This was a stubbing/trip hazard and was just crazy.
- albert (2/5): -
- kelly (8/5): - The size of the room Noise from the bar downstairs
- Nic (7/5): Convenient position and amenities. - This was just accommodation. The room was clean and tidy and was ideally suited to walk into Shoreham which is why we booked here.
The room is above a pub, so when the pub is busy there is some noise. It is also close to the railway station and level crossing so there is the sound of that as well.
The car park at the rear of the pub was free and very convenient.
You can enter the accommodation via a back entrance from the carpark.
For us this all worked nicely and made our trip to Shoreham a fun experience. It would have been good to have been able to order food in the pub, but it's close to lots of food outlets so it's not a real problem. We ate in the Q cafe, the la patisserie and also the taphouse. All nice places to eat.
- Nicole (5/5): -
- Emma (7/5): Nice place for the night with lovely staff - The staff were very accommodating letting us park the motorbike in the back garden. Room was clean and conveniently located. They did forget to put coffee mugs in the room.
- Geoff (9/5): - Solo Traveller walking the South Coast Path.
Good location, very close to train station.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Hot shower.
Wide choice of Ales n Lagers in Bar/Pub.
No food but lots of takeaways opposite or close by.
- Margaret (8/5): A serviceable place yo stay - Location great. Staff helpful Light switch on mirror in bathroom needs attention
- Patricia (3/5): Good location but..... - Friendly and helpful barman, car park at rear of the pub. Tea and coffee are available in the bedroom Bedroom was very grubby, no bedside light, no hairdryer. The shower needed cleaning and took ages to run warm.
- albert (2/5): -
- Martin (2/5): -
- Lerentracht (6/5): -
- Neil (6/5): Stay for one night at the Crabtree. Ideal for station and town. - Nice big family room, comfy bed., Hot tap didn’t work
Toilet flush not very good.,
- Andy (8/5): -
- victoria (10/5): Crabtree inn - Friendly and welcoming, comfortable and live music
- Contreras (10/5): -
- Berescu (7/5): -
- Philip (8/5): - Great location and friendly staff. Very quiet and spacious room.
- Ife-Oluwa (9/5): -
- King (3/5): - Conveniently located. Very dated, very small double bed, carpet in the bathroom. Could have done with a good vacuum.
- Simon (5/5): - Great location for the town, restaurants, ancient church and the beach.
Comfortable and nice staff. Just a bit scruffy inside the building and rooms.
- Richard (5/5): -
- Ed (2/5): - Location.
- Lynne (4/5): - Nothing £315 not worth the money
Carpet in bathroom
Entrance dirty and outside garden filthy.
Such a shame nowhere else to stay in Shoreham.
- Kembery (2/5): Poor - Nothing The room was dirty and rubbish on the floor the bed wad completely broken and you couldn't sleep the right way round
The bathroom carpet was torn and looks unprofessional and the tap doesn't work in the bathroom very Disappointed waste of money for what they are charging we paid £110 for a dirty broken room
- Matthew (5/5): OK for a one night stay. - When I got there, the staff were friendly and helpful. As just a place to stay for the night it was OK, I wouldn't want to stay more than one night though as the facilities are basic. Very close to the train station, so easy to catch the train next morning. Only a short walk to the main part of town. The general feel of the place was a bit messy. The furniture in the room was basic and tired looking. Considering what you can get at a Premier Inn for roughly the same price, this seemed expensive.
- Matthew (7/5): Good value hotel - Not expensive. And facilities we fine. Ideal for what we needed.
- Richard (5/5): Passable - Location was good. No meals available, it was a room only venue. No longer having a Restaurant. There was no hot water in the room, other than with the shower.
