Guest Reviews
- Tazeem (2/5): - DO NOT BOOK WITH URBAN CHIC. We had a booking, the day before they informed us that we had been moved to a different property. We had purposely booked a place with a lift as one of the people in our party had really bad knees and stairs were tough. This new place had a lot of stairs. To make things worse, at 1:45am, a party of 5 people tried to enter the flat - they were also relocated to the same place. We contacted the property manager, were told (in writing) we would get a refund and had to go through Expedia. When I contacted Expedia, they contacted to property and the refund was not granted (even though we have it in writing). Save yourself the hassle. Don't book a Urban chic property.
- Abdulrazaq (8/5): - Comfortable and ideal for a family vacation, the park right opposite makes it even better cos of the ability to engage in outdoor activities
- Karen (6/5): - The apartment size, location and walkability were great. However it was fairly obvious that no one had done an inspection prior to our visit.
Communication and follow through were TERRIBLE. We had a major problem that was never resolved. We had NO HOT WATER for the four days we were there.
We attempted to get the problem fixed but were ultimately told that Urban Chic has no control over the operations of the building we were in.
On the third day we were given the option to move to another location but no offer was made to assist us with the move.
I wrote emails to the company and have not received any response in almost three weeks. I have requested some compensation but again, no response.
- Lisa (10/5): - It’s a really cute and more importantly clean apartment! We really enjoyed our time together in and/or our and about due to cultural diversity of the neighbourhood!
- DOUG (10/5): - Great property centrally located, picking the keys up from a corner shop 900metres away was a pain with luggage
- Khululekani (10/5): Superb clean and well equipped apartment - Very well equipped apartment, clean, all amenities available. A great deal of care and attention was given to this accomodation. We had a superb stay with everything you could ever need. Great communication with the host too.
- Sheila (10/5): Beautiful flat in a nice location - Elegant decor and a comfortable stay.. Everything needed is in the flat..
- Sheila (10/5): Lovely flat in a good location - Lovely apartment and close to shops
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Dirty and lot's of stains to carpets, marks on walls, flat 167 has not been looked after very well which is a real shame. some power sockets didn't work, heating was troublesome, main bathroom smelt of cat urine, previous guests kids had drawn on walls, dishwasher door broken, I can go on and on. place has so much potential if they spent some money on maintenance.
- Tyler (8/5): Good overall apartment with cleanliness issues - Stayed at Urban Chic Portobello with my girlfriend and another couple. The apartment itself was nice overall - newer and quite modern and in a great location. However, there were some issues with cleanliness. There were horrific stains all over the couch, to the point where no one was comfortable sitting on it. There was also some mold in the shower. There was also a fowl smell that we noticed after getting home from a day out. It went away after leaving the windows open for a while and didn’t seem to come back, but still a bit concerning.
Even with the cleanliness issues the overall experience was good. It’s located a short walk from the tube and it’s even closer to several bus stops. Good coffee shops nearby too.
- Charlotte (10/5): - Great location, clean well appointed flat
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property is part of a completely new complex and the general condition of the apartments are good but the 2 apartments I rented were ready 2 hours later (you don’t want this to happen when you have your entire family coming from Italy). At least an email saying that they were sorry would have been appreciated and probably resulted in a different review.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great little apartment near Portobello Road and walking distance (1mile) to Nottinghill Gate Station and other public transport.
A couple of nice restaurants in the neighborhood, including a good Pizzeria, Fish and Chip shop, bakeries etc. A short walk to a couple of pubs and Tesco/Sainbury markets.
Bedrooms were clean, although a little small. Sofa bed in living room was great for 2 kids with enough space that they didn't fight about being on top of each other! High speed Internet, Netflix on the TV and a well equipped kitchen gave us the option for dinners and breakfasts in when we wanted.
Communication with Property manager was very good, check-in and check-out was very easy, no problems at all.
Overall would recommend and would consider to use again if returning to London.
- Sargon (4/5): - This was the very first time I was renting an apartment for a family vacation. So I was trying to to be extra cautious with where I stay.
The good
1. Great location
2. The apartment was clean (maybe the carpets could have been cleaner) but overall it was clean.
The bad
1. Apartment was not ready when we got there after the agreed checkin time!
2. Beds are cheap and the mattress kept falling through the frame not good
3. the shades in one room kept falling off
The only safe in the apartment was not working
The Ugly
1. Horrible, I mean really bad smell coming from the shower area in of the bathroom in the bedroom really bad
To be fair they told me I should have called when they asked for my feed back and good rating but. after a semi indifferent response I got regarding to no hot water the first day I was not too confident they would do anything. and why is the place not in the tip top shape when you rent it and why do I have to endure anything until you fix it. Fix it before you rent not after you rent.
- W.H (10/5): - very nice, clean, convenience to portobello market.
- Yu-Hsien (8/5): Clean and wonderful stay but with hidden charge. - We enjoyed our stay at Urban Chic Portobello with everything is needed. Location is also with lots bus and tube stops. As for the property itself, it's clean, secure which is a big plus for family with kids. One down side is the hidden charge for late check in for 50 pounds (I checked in around 9pm) which wasn't disclosed on hotels.com website for the amount and only disclosed after you booked with hotels.com then communicated via email.
- Jackie (2/5): - Nothing chic about it. Worn furniture and dirty linens
- Arabella (10/5): - We had a lovely stay at Urban Chic, brilliant location for Portobello, very clean and brilliant communication with the staff.
- Angelos (6/5): - This type of property was not appropriate for my needs. I checked in after 6pm, and I incurred an additional fee of 50 pounds. Furthermore, the security deposit on my credit card seems to be excessive. Additionally, the mattresses were not comfortable.
My communications with the staff were congenial and professional. Very nice building and the apartment was spacious.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a great stay at the Urban Chic in Portobello. It was a wonderful experience. Plenty of space for our 4 kids. Having 2 full bathrooms was really helpful.
