Guest Reviews

- Martina (10/5): - After our longer Andalusia road trip, this was exactly what we needed to relax. The accommodation was wonderfully authentic and decorated with so much love and attention to detail — we genuinely felt as if we had moved into a small palace. Pablo and his sister Maria gave us such a warm welcome that we immediately felt less like customers and more like guests staying with a genuinely kind family. The personal communication even before our arrival, as well as their constant willingness to help us with recommendations, tips, and support, made the whole experience even more special. We felt very cared for throughout our stay and would happily come back anytime. We were truly very happy with the accommodation overall. If we had to mention one small downside, it would be that parking could sometimes be a bit challenging, as it is street parking only. On the other hand, it was very affordable, and in the end we always managed to find a spot nearby. And once again, Pablo was incredibly helpful — when needed, he even offered us their own parking space temporarily until something became available close to the accommodation.
- Egidijus (7/5): - The owners were friendly, pleasant and helpfull. Although we like the old style and by booking this place were expecting something special, this place is too decorated and overloaded with things. There was a feeling of humidity in the room, which was not pleasant. Maybe picking the room with the terrace (which was very nice) instead of the suite would fix some things.
- Brian (3/5): Disappointing. - Too far from centre, no other guests, or permanent staff in property. Had to let ourselves in by key. Bedroom smelt and felt damp and bed.Agreed with Maria to pay for 3 nights whilst only stay 1, however after our departure they took payment for a further 2 nights without our permission or knowledge. Would not recommend.

- Chris (10/5): - Incredibly interesting old property, felt like stepping into the last.
Extremely comfortable and wonderful host!
- manuel (9/5): encantador - Desayuno bien. ubicacion regular
- frederic (9/5): - Location is most interesting built in 1432 , was a church/mosque before that with building style reminiscent in part of Roman stonework and arcades . You do really feel you are staying in a gone by aera house , the fireplace is amazing and so medieval The water could have been a little hotter , we also had issues identifying how to get it on , but this was mainly our fault not theirs
- Manu (5/5): -
- STUART (8/5): - yes
- Sergey (7/5): Rooms in a historic house. - We like fantastic interiors of the room and the house. We like comfortable bed and good sanitary facilities. But actually one armrest detached from chair. You should to know that getting there you got to 19th century house. And all furniture are from these times. So you will stay in the room in old house. The hosts also live there and are very welcome. Location. The house is in the quarter in vineries with high walls and nothing more. You room faces to white old wall that's all. Actually you won’t have a chance to enjoy the view, because the window is very small and close by curtain. By the way you’ll need to use electric lights in the room, as the window lets in very little light. It is 15 walk to city center.
Breakfast is basic and served by the host: juice, eggs, few slices of cheese and sausages, rolls.
Parking. There’s no private parking at the house, so you’ll have to look for a spot somewhere on the street — and it’s not always easy to find one.
- Deborah (10/5): -
- Paula (8/5): Quirky and quiet - Accessing the property was difficult (on a very hot day) and they seemed surprised at our arrival.
However, mother and daughter were polite and eventually showed us to our room which was pleasant. We had to remove limescale from the shower head but other than that is was clean and beautifully decorated.
We had a wonderful terrace that was several times larger than the room. However, be prepared a tour guide may come through with coach party. The hotel was quirky in all respects which was quite engaging!!
The dining room was huge and full of produce but most of it was for sale. Breakfast was included but limited for me as I don't eat pork or cheese. The fruit was quite old. A fresh small omelette was cooked and i had toast. There was no fresh milk. I think fresh coffee and tea would be better than the machine drinks provided.
I am glad we stayed at the hotel but it was quiet and dark so I wasnt sorry to leave.

- Richard (8/5): - The property entrance is located on a side street with garbage dumpsters near the entrance. Hard to find until you’ve been there at least once. It’s a 15-20min walk to anything worth visiting. The place is cluttered with stuff throughout the entrance with weird things (dresses, costumes, etc) for sale in the dining area. A funky strange place. The cats roaming the hallways are friendly though…..
- Danny Boy (10/5): - Our stay in Casa Bodega del Marquez has been very cozy, chill and comfortable. Despite the hot weather during our stay, the place is fully airconditioned and the overall vibe felt like a cozy old Spanish bodega vibe. And Lorena has been very accommodating since the time we arrived. She's like a mother to us, serving us breakfast and making sure our needs are attended to, including our need for a taxi on our last day. She arranged it so well and on time. We couldn't ask for more for the price we have paid. We highly recommend Casa Bodega del Marquez.
- Oussama (10/5): -
- Jolin (9/5): Very nice stay in a special property with a very friendly local host - Great host. Showed us around this magnificent historic property which included a cellar, small chapel and other special rooms.
She also gave up her parking space to us, so we could park in front of the property! OK for us, but the property is not very central, though in town.
- Kerrie (5/5): Wonderful staff, great breakfast, and lovely building, but beware there are cats if you have allergies - The staff was absolutely wonderful and the building was interesting. We enjoyed the great breakfast in the dining room every morning. The location is about a 15 minute walk from everything, so not central, but still walkable. We ended up with an interior room, so unfortunately there were no windows or fresh air and it was a very dark room. Additionally, there were cats in the hotel and I am severely allergic to them. They were not just in the common areas because our clothes ended up with cat hair on them. Needless to say, I had a horrible allergies for our 2-might stay (I took allergy medicine, which didn’t work. If our stay was any longer, we would have moved to another hotel). Finally, both shower heads were broken and sprayed all over the bathroom, and the towels were stiff/crunchy (like air dried with too much detergent still in them). This was the most expensive hotel on our month-long trip and unfortunately the most disappointing despite the very wonderful staff and lovely breakfast. We booked this hotel based on the wonderful reviews, which did not match our experience.
- Tamara (10/5): Beautiful comfortable and great location - Location, comfort and staff All good!
- Mary (9/5): Welcoming staff in a fabulous location - Lovely owners and so very helpful. Great location.
- Ingrid (9/5): Superb -
- Kylie (8/5): Very good -
- Larry (8/5): Very good -
- Judy (9/5): True Spanish hospitality and lovely people we now call friends! - The gracious host and hostess made us feel so comfortable and welcome! We had a lovely room and bath, the patio outside our door made us feel like we had been swept away in time. Liked everything.
- James (10/5): Great stay in beautiful surroundings with lovely host. - Quirky period property in good location short walking distance to attractions. Mosquitos!
- Shirley (8/5): Very good - We were made so welcome by our host, she was so lovely andl welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Took us a little time to orientate ourselves. Quirky property, slightly too much bric a brac.
- Rebecca (10/5): Brilliant stay for a long weekend in Jerez - Unique and in a great location. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating
- Veronika (10/5): Exceptional - Responsive and welcoming host. The house is located in the center, to all places of interest is pleasant to walk. Comfortable mattress, quiet location
- Carly (10/5): Amazing property with the most welcoming hosts - What an amazing property and host.
Upon arriving driving through some backstreets we were a little dubious, don’t let that put you off. From the moment we stepped through the door to the moment we left we were greeted with the most beautiful property and the most welcoming and warming host.
The hotel is just a couple of minutes walk from the main pedestrian walking straight in Jerez.
The property itself is very clean, comfortable and quiet and is an amazing building. Nothing, everything was perfect
- Guy (7/5): Good -
- Richard (10/5): Wonderfully authentic place to stay. - It is such an authentic place to stay. Just lovely. Unlike the hotel formula and the people could not have been friendlier.
- C (9/5): Stay here if you're ok with taxidermy and want a warm, friendly taste of old Spain. - Tucked away down a side street, within easy walking distance of central Jerez, staying here was like travelling back in time to mid 1800s Spain. The antithesis of a bland, corporate, modern, minimalist hotel: think eccentricity, stuffed bulls' heads, sherry barrels, beams, lots of objects of interest, and a warm family welcome. The family make their own sherry, which tasted delicious, and I think are involved in other tourist-related activities. We were offered a home-cooked paella-centred Spanish feast of many courses, with sherry/wine for €75 per head, which I'm sure would have been an evening to remember. Lovely freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast. We also enjoyed sitting out on the terrace just outside our room. There was a leak in our bathroom, but they didn't know about that until we left, so they didn't have a chance to fix it until after that.
- Michael (4/5): Be aware - there ARE pets on site - Good location and friendly host.
Clean bedding and effective aircon.
Quirky characterful layout. Primary reason for our booking here was the premises rule of ‘’pets are not allowed” and we were under the impression that would mean there were no pets on-site - however on arrival we discovered the host’s cat was present and given free run of the premises :(
This was particularly alarming as the breakfast area had open shelving and we did not appreciate the concept of the cat climbing amongst the plates / cutlery, with our cleanliness concerns confirmed as the animal subsequently defecated on the rug shortly after our arrival!
The room had a strong, slightly unpleasant, air freshener odour, but appeared clean.
We decided to gloss over this as we would be out of the premises for the majority of our stay sightseeing in Jerez.
The location was quiet and the bed comfortable for sleep.
On arrival for breakfast next morning, as we were greeted by our host in the dining area, the cat bit my wife’s toe, causing pain and bleeding, with both of us completely shocked at what had happened - our host was very apologetic and gave some basic first aid to clean and bandage the toe.
Breakfast was basic - host did offer to cook eggs in addition to cold selection.
Then and there we knew we could not stay for the second night of our booking, but as we had activities already booked, I decided to broach the matter on our return later in the day.
The hosts daughter was present that afternoon and spoke some English, we agreed that we would just pay for the night stayed and vacate the premises.
In summary:
At €386 for the experience I feel the Casa Palacio Jerezana was NOT value for money.
I feel that pets on-site should be declared on listing or confined to hosts accommodation.
- Urszula (9/5): Superb - Hidden gem. Wonderfully restored very comfortable hotel. Definitely would come back!
- Malgorzata (10/5): Very authentic! - Very authentic hotel where one feels very welcomed, nearly like staying with family! The lovely lady who runs the hotel speaks little English but with the help of Google translate we made it work. We stayed in the blue room which was exactly like in the photos. We were very happy that there was a proper light weight down duvet and not just the standard sheet. For breakfast there was everything that one might need, the lady made us an omelette and brought fresh orange juice. The location is good only a short walk to the town centre. With a little luck one might be able to park right in front of the hotel. We wish we could have stayed longer!
- Jane (7/5): Memorable place to stay. - Very characterful, a one off.
- Hicking (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): Close in gem - Welcoming host in central Jerez walking distance to downtown but in quiet neighborhood. Lovingly restored classic property
- Larry (10/5): We would definitely stay there again. - Very different from your normal hotel, we felt like we were guest in someone's home. We had a huge patio off our room,
breakfast great, coffee was available any time of the day. We took a paella cooking class at the hotel along with a great tasting of three different sherry's. Short 10 min. walk to downtown. Location was difficult to find and parking was in a parking garage.
- Vera (10/5): Exceptional - I loved it! Everything: the house was gorgeous and the room was very confortable. Breakfast was great and Leonor and the team were lovely. I had a fantastic experience and look forward to trying the salmorejo recipe Leonor shared.
- Jonathan (9/5): Superb -
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good -
- Clare (10/5): Delightful stay, wonderful host, amazing surroundings - Very traditional, real character Nothing
- Chris (10/5): The most welcoming and gracious host. Could not recommend highly enough. Don’t be out off by the outside - a traditional - Everything The location was a bit out of town, but not far enough to be put off
- Adam (8/5): Very good -
- Gravy (8/5): Unique Style in Jerez - The unique style of the place was complimented by Leonor, the hostess who is friendly, chatty, and provides a wholesome breakfast. She was very helpful with our Spanish! The house is very quiet, so you have a wonderful sleep, and it has a great location for visiting Jerez, 10 - 15 minutes walk to most things. A parking space was provided outside the main door. Not much really.
- Rafael (10/5): A beautiful property with a wonderful host. - Truly an Andalusian experience. You will be immersed in the spirit of Jerez, the decor, the building and its surroundings. Must try the paella cooking experience by Leonor and staff. Olé!
- Nancy (9/5): Superb -
- Steve (9/5): Very special unique accomodation. The exterior leaves you a little concerned but once inside you are taken into another - Very unique historic accomodation.
Fantastic host with many recommendations for things to see and do. Nothing we didn’t like.
- Robert (10/5): Unexpected elegance behind plain exterior - Beautiful old world charm.
Lovely host and her helpful son.
Wonderful paella dinner with wine pairing personally prepared for guests.
Convenient parking. Maybe a little pricy but worth it for us.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (10/5): A great Jerez experience - Totally unique experience. The hotel is like an 18/19th century hall, the rooms are very decorative but tasteful and comfortable. We had the terrace, which was a lovely, relaxing space. As for our hostess, she treated us like her relatives, so friendly and welcoming. We shall be going back! Nothing to say here!
- Richard (8/5): An amazing museum of splendid excentricities, with an extra special hostess - Maria was an exceedingly good host and welcome greeting explanation of the palacio and it's romantica settings
She recommended local restaurants and an amazing flamenco/sherry bar Nothing really,
on street parking may be an issue
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jane (4/5): Lovely property that needs more refinements - It is just as pictured on web. Very interesting, antique furniture, classical Spanish decor. We were left in the lurch! One had to unlock the front door to gain entry. No reception desk. We seemed to be the only occupants in the hotel. Very mysterious management. Greeted by different people each time we came back to hotel. Except a charming woman ?name? served breakfast each day. There was no house phone nor phone in our room which we found to be very off putting and slightly scary
When I voiced my concern, a young woman named Maria gave me her cell number and said “Call if you need anything.” Also location is in a run down area. Several times when we gave taxi driver the address we were told “there is no hotel at that address.”
- Peter (10/5): This is the most spetacular and beautiful place we have ever stayed at. The most wonderful owner gave us the best experi - The most spetacular place er have ever stayed at. The most wonderful owner.
- Romas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerr (10/5): Exceptional - The Palacio has an old-world charm - every piece of furniture, every decoration and piece of crockery is picked to create and enhance this most individualistic effect.
The proprietress Leonora and her daughter Maria made us feel most welcome. We took part in her cooking workshop, which was a truly wonderful experience.
I can highly recommend this place.
- Julia (1/5): House of Horrors! - Nothing Location in a very scruffy side street. As soon as the door was opened there was a fusty smell inside. As much as I enjoy visiting museums I didn’t enjoy staying in one. The hotel was full of bric a brac and in the breakfast room there were a number of bulls heads which dominated the space. we couldn’t face breakfast in that room and left promptly the next morning. we paid extra for a patio which again was full of bric a brac and the seating had cushions covered in bird poo .
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Joep (10/5): Nice place to stay - Nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, very, very clean.
We stayed two nights in a beautiful room. Paying for the car parking in the street was a bit tricky with the paying machine. Could possibly have parked in a parking lot, which would have been easier
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Great hosts, very welcoming. The house is full of history and absolutely unique. We had a fabulous time, even got an upgrade. Many thanks.
- Alison (3/5): Poor -
- Vijay (9/5): Superb -
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Narvaez (7/5): Good -
- Ronald (10/5): lovely characterful old bodega offering a warm welcome - it’s old world charm and character;very welcoming and good position away from the centre in a good neighbourhood but an easy stroll to downtown nothing
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Geraint (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (9/5): Superb - We loved the welcome we received on arrival at the hotel. In the heart of Jerez.
Absolutely fascinating building with great history and their own well.
Breakfast included brilliant and you can use the hot drinks facilities 24/7 in the main dining room.
The room was great with large bed and huge en suite.
Definitely go back again.
They have a car parking space but we had a motorcycle so it fitted in with the car. I can honestly say that there's nothing I didn't like which is unusual for me.
- Dave (9/5): Superb -

It is like living in the perfect Andalusian atmosphere. Nothing, everything was excellent

- Alexander (10/5): It was like staying in a museum - Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Historical building and 19th century interior
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Literally the worst hotel experience I have ever had.
I’ve travelled extensively and have never actually written a review-
This is a dishonest bunch, the service terrible, the beds uncomfortable, “breakfast” horrendous (the same plate of meat sitting out the entire 3 days of stay), no safe, minimal towels. We left and went to Casa Palacio Maria Luisa which was AMAZING! 10/10!
