Guest Reviews
- Paul (6/5): - Ideal budget place to stay. Hostel prices but private room with own shower and toilet
- Demelza (8/5): - Super vriendelijk personeel!
- Stephen (6/5): - Was it great?.. no but it was clean and in an excellent location on Nathan Road. The staff were helpful and fridge with cold water in kitchen area was appreciated multiple times. The shower was hot but combined shower, toilet and sink in one small space. Would i take my partner for a getaway?.. no but i would stay again if i was on my own enjoying kowloon.
- Kathlyn (2/5): - I guess it’s just Hongkong. The room did not look as in the photos. Super small.
- Grizinator (6/5): A true Hong Kong Experience - If you are unaware of what accommodations are like in certain Asian cities, this might come as a shock to you. This hotel is one of many (along with regular appointments) that coexist in a single, city-block sized building. You will enter from Nathan Rd (past some pestering touts; ignore them or tell them to bugger off!) into what looks like a mall/indoor market/food court. You will need to find the correct “tower”, which is straight to the back on the left. There are signs, but just ask a vendor if you are uncertain. The elevators do not stop at every floor, so you must take the correct one (the left hand elevator) and go to the 16th floor. The elevators are small, but I never had to wait long for them, The Asia Inn is one of several hotels on the floor, but I think there are all run by the same people. Turn right out of the elevator and ring the bell.
You will find that space is at a premium here! There is just enough room for two people to stand in the room. Fortunately you can store luggage under the bed, so it isn’t too bad. The temperature in the room was always comfortable. The room reasonably clean. And the hosts here friendly and helpful. I was able to store my luggage all day after I checked out.
The location cannot be beat: steps from the MTR; short walk to the harbour and plenty of shops/restaurants to choose from. If you are only planning on sleeping in the room and you are a solo traveller, this is a decent bet for Hong Kong.
- Annette (6/5): - The hotel is located on the 16th floor of a commercial property in downtown Kowloon. Room was very basic, but clean. Staff were polite and efficient in our check-in and check-out. Room suitable for one night between flight and boarding cruise ship.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location is closer to everything and close to mtr station
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location of Asia Inn is ideal for those in Kong Kong on holiday: close to tourist attractions, restaurants/fast food outlets, the railway and bus networks, Kowloon Park, Star Ferries and the fast ferries to Macau.
George and the Asia Inn staff spoke excellent English and were always helpful.
The lift was larger than we expected from previous reviews of the hotel, and access was no problem once we discovered that we could use the B or C lifts and that the hotel was on the 16th floor of the interconnected buildings.
For those of us who have stayed in budget hotels in London, Paris and Tokyo, the size of the Asia Inn room (we had a 'large' family room for 3 adults) was no surprise, but it might be a shock for others! But as a place to sleep it was cozy enough: excellent mattresses, comfortable pillows, and there was a fan and an air conditioner for perfect temperature control. There was also a TV, with local and English-language programs.
So would we recommend the Asia Inn to others going to Hong Kong for a holiday? DEFINITELY. It is excellent value for money.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean & unlimited filtered water supply. Easy access to food stalls and MTR stations !
- anne (10/5): Amazing budget hotel ! - Excellent budget hotel ! Very clean and comfortable. Staff are amazingly helpful, nothing it to much trouble. Breakfast although basis , is perfectly adequate. Will come again next time in Yangon.
- anneh550 (10/5): Great value and location - Very clean hotel in excellent location. Nice reception staff. Very good value hotel based near star ferry port and MTR. Small rooms but very comfortable and very clean. Would recommend! Situated above busy market with good food outlets
- lucv619 (2/5): Asia inn scam - Booked 2 rooms in march for januari via booking.com. Begin december booking com let me know that Asia Inn told them my creditcard was not value.
Checked card directly and there was nothing wrong with.
Contacted Asia Inn via e mail and by phone. Been anwered verry rude that i had to make a new booking, couldnt do it with them they said but bia booking.com or another company. Tryed it directly but ofcourse no rooms availible.
They yust sold my 2 rooms for a much higher price because it was newyear, and i made the booking for a cheap price in march.
- seans448 (8/5): Great Value and clean - Read all the reviews, and got exactly what I expected. Location is fantastic - public transport (trains and buses) is super close. This is really the Centre of Kowloon and an excellent base for a stay in Hong Kong. Yes the entrance into the building is not great - there are touts; and sometimes you have to wait a while at the lift, but it really isn’t a problem at all, and we never felt threatened or uncomfortable at any stage. The staff is helpful, and check-in was quick and friendly.
The rooms are small but have comfortable beds and everything you need, and anyway - who spends lots of time in their room in Hong Kong?
It’s certainly not the Sheraton - but for the price, location, facilities and cleanliness, we will stay here again without hesitation.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It’s very clean, nice staff they are trustworthy, can have unlimited coffee or tea, very nice
- anilt413 (10/5): Amazing place to stay - Great hotel. No complaints. Excellent pool, immaculate throughout. Perfect location. We didn't do food but looked impressive. My family enjoyed our visit hugely.Staff was friendly and very attentive facilities were up to the expectation.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It is close to MTR. The staff are friendly. The room is clean but it is quite small. It does have hairdryer, but no refrigerator.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was small but clean and comfortable. I smell fishy smell from the toilet room, but I could endure if I close the door. I think that it was a good accommodation considering the price.
- Mainaaya (8/5): Asia Inn - A budget hotel, small room but clean & tidy, comfortable bedding, soft pillows good working A/C with complimentary Tea/Coffee facilities as much as you want. The biggest advantage of staying with then is they own other hotels as well in same floor hence flexibility of choosing lift either from block B or block C which normally in evening get crowded.
The Manager was excellent guy who makes us feel staying at home even offered Cup Noodles & fresh Banana during the Typhoon complimentary & was helpful throughout.
They need to make arrangement for cleaning room & toilet on daily basis for sure.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I've been in various HK micro-room Hotels, but this one was the smallest ever. The only space where you could stand was behind the door, and the bathroom. I saw that a twin beds room is actually bigger with some space to lay luggage instead that under the bed. I would recommend to spend a little more for a bigger room. Nothing to complain about the room conditions, cleanliness and staff service.
- Marty (10/5): - Victor has been very helpful the whole stay we were there and assisted us how to get around. We had a great time at this place and everything is close by.
- Bhuwan Shah (8/5): - Center for shopping Value for money... clean n tidy but a bit smelly... bathroom too congested...overall good
- The (10/5): Great location and hotel service - Very close to the water front. Very good access to shops and public transport. Excellent hotel service, always going the extra mile :-)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - good place to stay city center
- pocholowayneg (8/5): You got what you paid for ! - I read the review first, and it fits on my budget and the location was very awesome for my travel plans. Yes , the room was very small, but’s it’s clean, well maintained and Very fast wifi connections.
THe location was superb, safe, near the train stations,
And walking distance with most stores and malls.
You most read or review the direction of going to the Asia Inn first thoroughly!
This placed was good for backpackers and those people who were on the tight budget.
- Elizabeth (2/5): RUN A MILE OR MORE - This place has a lot of good reviews but all I can say about that is the owner must have a lot of his Indian relatives writing reviews for him. This place, if it caught on fire would make the Great Fire of London pale into insignificance and last year's Grenfell Tower fire in London would be like lighting a match into comparison.
The booking in was the worst I have ever had. The person behind the desk was the rudest person I have ever come across and as someone had stuffed up our booking i.e. we didn't have one he just took my passport and told me to WAIT! After 18 hours travelling I thought some courtesy would be forthcoming. We saw a huge rat outside the window and finally we were put in a room which had all the laundry outside our door. Man was sleeping in the room where guests make coffee and someone delighted in using an electric drill well after midnight.........joy NOT!
Getting to the place was like running the gauntlet in the Mumbai Slums and there were 3 dozen hands all over place at any given time.
- raine (8/5): the staff were very helpful - didn’t realized until the day of the arrival that they actually do not check in later than 12mn so my husband called their staff and begged to wait as we were arriving after 12mn. they waited until we arrived and for that, i was very pleased. the rooms were decent, we stayed in two different rooms. you get what u paid for. 16th floor of the building was actually clean. forget about the ground floor. thank u to the nice staff, all of them, i forgot their names. they were all nice and they made sure we were okay.
- Victor (8/5): Strategically located in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsu - Few minutes walk from MTR and convenience stores available nearby. Although it is in the highest point (16th floor) Block C of Chung King Mansion, you do not need to queue very long to wait for the elevator. We can see a lot of people queuing in other blocks, this was a relief to us to be staying in Block C as we saw a lot of people queuing in other blocks day to night.
Several downside is that iron is not provided to us although we had requested for it. But it was shown in the website that they will provide iron upon request. Another thing is I can see a few stains on the bed sheet and pillow case. But everything else is clean, especially the toilet which I'm impressed.
It is not a spacious room but we couldn't complain much after all its Hong Kong. There's also a water dispenser provided which we find it good. Overall the stay is good for us.
- 579kanem (8/5): Good for the price! - Before booking I had read many reviews about properties in Chungking Mansions and was very skeptical after reading so many reviews, however Asia Inn seemed to have the most positive so decided to book here due to the price. Me and my girlfriend spent 5 nights at Asia Inn during our time travelling in Asia.
Chungking mansions is an extremely hectic building, crowding with individuals who try and sell you food and rooms. However, if you simply tell them no thank you or ignore them, they won't bother you.
We were aware that rooms in Hong Kong were extremely small but were still shocked at how small our room really was. The room had a double bed, a small cubical with a toilet/shower (shower over toilet) and enough room to fit in about 2 large suitcases. The room was also equipped with both a fan and air conditioning. The owner was very welcoming and the room was secure.
The rooms are based in Block B on the 16th floor and so you really need to take the lift to your room. As the Chungking Mansions is so busy, the wait for the lift can be quite lengthy, however you're never waiting for longer than 5 minutes.
The location of the property was brilliant, opposite the entrance to the Metro station Tsim Sha Tsui and only about a 5 minute walk to Victoria harbour.
Overall, I would recommend a stay at Asia Inn for any Backpackers. The room is small, but clean and good value for money. For anyone looking for a typical hotel room in Hong Kong with a good location, expect to pay about 5 times more than the price of Asia Inn!
- Coochi1 (8/5): Value for money - We stayed in a room with a double bed and shared bathroom for four days . The first day we checked in I was pretty shocked at the size of the room as it's like walking into a cupboard, but later realised that many accomodation in HK are of similar nature. The location was great as you are on a main street with shopping malls and restaurants surrounding you. The ferry terminal is only about a 5 -10 mins walk. If you are only looking for a place to sleep this is ideal as its very cheap priced and fantastic location. What i would not recommend is getting a room right below the water tank , as we happened to be on 16th floor and the tank was right above us. Every night around mid night we would hear a loud noise of water pumping and would vibrate the walls. Also we experienced a small power cut on our last day which broke our travel adaptor, as it was the last day of our travel it did not matter much. But other than that, the staff was very nice and helpful and had great daily room cleaning service.
- prenchd (10/5): Absolutely Worth It! - I booked a room good for three persons and was happy about it. The room was clean and secured. Hot and cold water was readily available, strong water pressure, and the air-conditioning worked well.
Arrived around noon and was able to check-in since the room was readily available. The staff was kind to assist us during check-in. Everything went smooth and we enjoyed our experience with Asia Inn.
We will be back.
- mikadowska (8/5): Worth it - The value is ok. Of course it is a hostel in Kowloon so the rooms are really small but it is definetly all you will get for that kind of prices. The service was nice and the location really good in the center.
- babblingtraveller (6/5): Shoestring Stay in HongKong - We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. If you just wanted a place to crash, this will be the most affordable place to be in. For about 19-20sqm. it's surprising to fit in a bed and a comfort room.
You need to ask for a room with a window else you will be surprised. The "double bed" meant to be queen sized bed but still I'd rather you choose 2 single beds.
Going there is quite shocking if you're not used to crowds. The Asia/n Inn is the same as Asian Manor and all "hotels" found in Chungking Mansion.
Take away there it is smacked in the middle of it all: malls, restaurants, hotels. They're compliant with the hotel requirements in Hongkong but as for the elevator going there, you should drop your personal bubble.
The owners are hospitable and made sure you're somewhat comfortable.
- karenthebem (8/5): Small but accommodating - First I need to stress that Hong Kong is not a spacious place in terms of accommodation, something I did not know myself so imagine the shock. Once you have accepted how very very small the rooms can be, then you will be fine. Asia inn staff was absolutely amazing and always ready to help out. The hotel is inside a building which has persistent sellers and a bit crowded. Not ideal for solo female travellers perhaps but once you are up on the 16th floor of the hotel it is ok. Beds were very comfortable and rooms were very clean. Towels were changed every day. Staff again very friendly and helpful. Thank you.
- R2625VPjaneh (10/5): Perfect spot for a short city trip - Been in HK a few times now but this place is great. Please expect the tiniest rooms, but that's Hong Kong!
The rooms are clean and quite and everything you need. The owner added some nice touches such as complimentary coffee station, washing machine etc.
The place is hard to find but it is really safe and for Hong Kong very reasonable.
I will be back!
- Merrenlynch (8/5): good for travelling on a budget - Location is ridiculously central right near train station and directly in the middle of the main street (pay attention which exit to take though as station is huge). The entry to the building is a bit dodgy but just ignore the salespeople inside and you'll be fine. Prepare to wait to get into lifts to access the accommodation as lifts and slow, small and limited. Rooms are clean with adequate amenities (hairdryer, towels etc), reception was friendly and helpful. Prepare for tiny tiny rooms without views and combined toilet/shower. This will be the cheapest accommodation you can find but more than adequate if you're on a tight budget.
- Sherlo87 (8/5): Good room, ideal location - If anyone has visited Hong Kong before then they will know the rooms are a bit small but this place has great service & in the ideal location.
Right next to the Tsim Sha Tsui station & if you are interested in the cheapest way from the airport to here then it's the A21 bus route, stop 14 is right next to this hostel!
- adrble (10/5): Best location, Clean Rooms, Excellent Service on a Budget - The rooms are clean. It is cleaned everyday. During our stay, it was very quiet in the hallways. The location is perfect. Very good exchange rates on the lobby of Chunking Mansion. It's right across TST MTR. Walking distance to Harbour View and TST Promenade. Lots of shopping retail along the streets. Near KFC and McDonald's. Mohammad and Galani are very friendly and helpful.
Downside, lobby of Chunking Mansion is a sketchy for women travelling alone. The rooms are very tiny but that's what I paid for. 9 sqm including bathroom.
Overall, I would still stay here when I get back.
- kmm8679 (10/5): Travelling on a Budget in HKG - Last year in August we travelled to Hong Kong on a budget. Booking Asia Inn through Agoda, allowed us to compare available prices and locations of available accommodations. We selected Asia Inn for its location (accessibility to MTR stations, public transport, restaurants and attractions). As we arrived late in the evening, the male staff of the Inn, waited on us and brought us to our room. He offered complimentary bottled water for us to save money. The internet connection was good and a coffee/ tea station was available for the guests.
- Yingpatra (6/5): The staffs friendly, clean - The room was small for two people but compares to other hotel in the building, I would say this hotel is quite nice (because we moved out from many hotel) clean, hair dryer provided in a room, big mirror, kettle and fridge is outside the room. The staffs are friendly. Reasonable price.
- keithd338 (8/5): Small but comfy and clean, great value for money - Stayed here for 4D3N relatively small and tidy, but since I am a solo traveler had no problem moving around the room, spacious underneath the bed for luggages (had a wall mounted flat screen tv, AC with fan and window and well equipped bathroom). They are cleaning the rooms every day coffee and tea is provided but prefered to go to 7-11 and other shops which is also near the mansion. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The location is just minutes away from the mtr which is great!just ignore the salespersons in the groundlevel..walking distance from the sightseeing sites and very accessible to and from airport. It is a great value for money especially to a minimalist traveller!would come back if I given a chance.highly recommended!
