• Mayur (2/5): - We booked a two-beds room stay for four nights based on the photos provided on the website. However, upon arrival, we were extremely disappointed. The room had no windows or access to natural light, making it poorly ventilated, uncomfortably warm, and constantly humid. The space was so cramped that it was nearly impossible to move around or even open a suitcase properly. The mattress was in terrible condition—so sunken and uneven that I experienced back and neck pain after just one night. To make matters worse, there was no air conditioning, which, combined with the lack of ventilation and natural light, made the room feel more like a damp basement than a livable space. Overall, the accommodation was far below expectations and offered very poor value for the price. I would not recommend staying here.

Les ébats sexuels des autres clients n'ont eu aucun secret vu la très mauvaise isolation de la chambre que j'occupais (espace entre la porte et le bâti de porte = bruit + lumière). Pas contre une salle de bain commune si celle-ci est propre et bien aménagée : toilettes très mal positionnés qui restreint l'accès au bac de douche, porte avec une fermeture n'inspirant pas confiance... bref je suis très déçu, surtout vu le prix : bien trop chère pour les prestations proposées.

• 13tetyanam (2/5): Avoid at all cost - Misleading and Disappointing Experience This establishment (can’t even call this a hotel) is falsely advertised. The room description was misleading—rooms have no windows (management stated it was my job to confirm if hotel has windows!!!), and the non-refundable policy feels like a trap because once you see the conditions, you can’t stay without losing your money. The bathrooms were dirty, and while the entire place felt old and worn out, the worst was the horrible smell of Indian spices lingering throughout the property. The overall atmosphere was unpleasant, and the staff were unprofessional and uncaring. Avoid this place at all costs.
• Paradise674597 (2/5): Horrible Experience – Misleading Listing and Awful Conditions - The property was a poorly maintained, single-floor establishment run by an unprofessional staff. My room, described as “2 beds with a private shower,” was not what I paid for: • No window: Instead, there was a fake “decorative window” that opened into a dirty, enclosed shaft (see attached photo). • Overwhelming smell: The room reeked of strong Indian spices, which permeated from the Indian restaurant or tenants directly below the property. • False advertising: The room lacked air conditioning, windows, and the bathroom was shared, not private. • Horrible hygiene: The property was filthy and smelled terrible throughout, and even basic amenities like the bathroom light switch were in a disgusting state (see photo). Upon seeing the room, I immediately informed the owner that I would not stay. The response was appalling: • The owner denied any misrepresentation and blamed me for not “clarifying” if the room had a window. • I requested a refund for the city tax, as I had just paid it before seeing the room. Initially, they refused, but after I threatened to call the police, they reluctantly returned it. This experience was outrageous and entirely unacceptable, no wonder every reservation on this property is non refundable. I ended up finding a clean, 3-star hotel nearby for the same price. To anyone considering this property, stay away. This was hands-down the worst lodging experience I have ever had.

• Naomi (2/5): - The pictures of the property that are up loaded are nothing like what it is. The bathroom is shared, no big deal but it is disgusting, filthy dirty and mould everywhere. Next to one of our beds there was blood on the wall! No air conditioning which is not advertised on the site. Definatlwy would not recommend. We were booked for 4 nights and left after the first night to other accommodation.

• Melissa A (2/5): - The Wi-Fi didn’t work, no AC, ants on the floor when we walked in. No bathroom in the room and the shower leaks everywhere. The only upside to this booking was the fact that it was central in the gothic quarter. Charged to the store luggage and for every little thing plus extra tax upon arrival that was much more than expected. Staff was pleasant upon entry, but the staff member that was present when we checked out was quite rude. Honestly would never stay here again despite the decent location.
• Chana (6/5): - Great location in the heart of the Gothic Quarter with lots of shopping and food, and only a 15 minute walk to the port. Gaining access to the unit was confusing, you have to ring the buzzer and someone will greet you, and make sure you arrive before 8pm because they don’t accept late check ins! The rooms do NOT have AC which was super unfortunate and uncomfortable to sleep in during the summer heat. We didn’t sleep well at all.
• Devon (2/5): - The hotel owners are terrible and constantly trying to scam, the hotel is cramped and dirty. Hard to find as it has no sign and is above a tobacco shop. Spent hours on the phone struggling with check in time the day before arrival, they are inconsistent and unreliable with answers and prices.
• 381devonm (2/5): Pick somewhere else 😬 - Please don’t book here!! It is a scam! I booked online and prepaid months in advance, then the day before I arrive they send messages about being unable to check me in, extra fees and changing the check in time repeatedly. After an hour of getting nowhere, they refused to give any refund.
• Anna (8/5): - It was hot, but fans in the room. It was cramped, but we didn’t plan on spending time in the hotel. The owners were nice enough. The location was perfect. The price was the cheapest we could find for the area, so if that’s what you’re going for, it is a good place for that.
• Matthew (6/5): Rude host but great location - The rooms were good for the price and the location is excellent. Pretty much bang in the centre. The host was quite rude and blunt and it did make us feel quite uncomfortable. A little bit of friendliness would have gone a long way. The beds were comfy but the showers were awful. Mould everywhere and very small area. For the price it’s good due to location and quality of bed. Just avoid the host and the showers and you’ll be grand.
• Thomas (4/5): - Die Lage der Pension Nähe Ramblas und der Placa Catalunya ist sehr gut, das war´s dann aber auchals Positives. Mein Zimmer in der Pension ist superklein und sehr hellhörig, durch die geschlossene Tür scheint das Licht im Flur 24 Stunden, es gibt nur ein Bad, wenn man hinein kommt, kann mann sich kaum drehen, da der Platz vor dem Wachbecken der der Duschtasse dahinter entspricht. Oben an der Decke zeigt sich Schimmel, schlecht für die Gesundheit! Die Aufhängung des Duschkopfs ist defekt, es ist schwer sich zu waschen, wenn man mit einer Hand den Duschkopf hält. Das Beste kam zum Schluß beim Ausschecken: Ich fragte nach der Möglichkeit, den Rucksack zu lagern bis zur Abreise, der indische Inhaber wollte 5 € dafür! Geht garnicht!

• 558amih (2/5): Horrendous customer service - Made an error in booking and cancelled immediately. Received a booking confirmation and cancellation email dated and timed exactly the same. Pension arosa took my money £218. Agoda tried in vain to get them to refund me, I made contact by email, messenger, Fb, what’s app, calling. Refuse to return one call, message or email. Credit card section 75 refunded me and they will have to pay them now. Rude, unkind, unfair, unjust and unethical and caused me a major stress and headache. The booking was 6 months in advance so had plenty of time to resell the room too. Be wary, I would not trust them in any way and would not recommend anyone stay in an establishment where the owners are robbing thieves.

It's central very close to the Las Ramblas, Airport bus & all other tourist attractions. The accommodation is basic but clean & such great value for money. The guy working there is so friendly & helpful would definitely recommend this to anyone who is on a budget but wants central Barcelona
• Awkwards_Travel (2/5): BED BUGS! - My boyfriend and I booked the hostel for 6 nights at the end of the month. We had one of the twin rooms. The one on the left just as you enter the hostel. After the first night I woke up with rash and bites everywhere. At first I wasn’t sure what it was but that second evening when we were getting ready to sleep and turned off the lights I saw a baby bed bug crawl across my bed. Upon further inspection the mattresses were clean but then we pulled the beds and the night stand away and we found the bed bugs nesting in the wood of the nightstand that was between the two beds and in the frame of the wall. It’s not common knowledge to know that bed bugs don’t only nest in mattresses, but also in furniture, walls, curtains etc. But this is important to know. We left immediately in the middle of the night and emailed the hostel explaining our sudden disappearance. We sent photos of the bugs and my bites in my arms and neck. The answer we received was “we don’t see any”. Upon further messages and photo evidence from us via email they simply stopped answering us. Not only may we have been infested with bugs, my skin getting a reaction,... but we felt like they didn’t care and of course we lost our money for the remaining nights we didn’t stay there and had to find a new hotel last minute. We felt really un-helped and upset by the way they handled this... or actually didn’t handle... this situation. Be careful and perhaps stay away until we know they’ve decided to acknowledge the issue and de-bug their rooms!!!
• kaylsshep (8/5): great value for money. - Great value for money right in the heart of the city. I stayed here for a week in the room for one. The location was perfect, couldn't beat it. I was out all day so needed a place just to rest so this was exactly that - basic room. No problems sharing the bathroom - as this was my worry at the beginning that I would never get into the shower, but it was always free. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and overall it was a very pleasant stay.
• Matthew_June75 (6/5): Value for money accomodation - I stayed at Pension Arosa for 4 nights in July 2018, to attend the Rock Fest at Santa Coloma. The place is veeeery basic, with little to no furniture inside the tiny room, so it can be only recommended to budget travelers who don't care at all about comforts, but only want a safe and clean place to stay at while visiting Barcelona (which is not bad at all). Pros: - perfect location (just behind Plaza de Catalunya) both to visit downtown Barna and travel by subway/train nearby; - very low price (I paid 27euros/night plus 2 euros to store my baggage on departure); - mattress thick and comfy; - adequate cleanliness in the lavatories; - safe environment and laid back personnel manning the reception/cleaning duties; - quite silent at night due to the room being exposed to internal stairwell (on the other hand, no nice view from there); - very good Wi-Fi connection. Cons: - very hot at night, due to the presence of a big refrigerator in the room and the lack of A/C; - just one shower to share with quite some people (the rooms are 6 in total, afaik); - no proper cabin to store your clothes, just a piece of furniture over the fridge; - kinda difficult to use the sink in the room if you are taller than 1.70 (i'm 1.82 and had to bend sideways to rinse my mouth); - the room is very close to both common lavatories so you'll hear people staying at the Pension going there anytime (i use earplugs at night so i wasn't bothered); - no tv or amenities (that's irrelevant to me, but to some people could be important) Bottomline: I would recommend it if you're not too bothered by heat and don't plan to spend much time in your room

• aliciamaxwell1 (6/5): What I would have expected - The man was very helpful and lovely. The room lacked a lot of facilities such as bowls and plates and cups etc but when asked for we was given some. We had a shower in our room and had to share a toilet which was no problem as we never bumped into anyone and there was 2 toilets. There is a lift so that you don’t have to walk up a huge flight of stairs. The location was great however walking 20 plus minutes to the beach everyday got a bit much so we stayed in the town. The room can get slightly noisy at night as you would expect from a busy street, this was no problem to us. It’s very hard to spot we was walking round for ages. You have to look for a place opposite Zara that says ‘weekend’ and buzz up to pension arosa. 3 min walk to the aerobus which takes you directly too and from the airport for around €10 there and back. There was only one kettle which we had to share. No rubbish bins in the rooms so started to get a bit messy. Room was a decent size. Perfect for someone who won’t spend a lot of time in the room.
• Sandra (4/5): Shared shower when paid for shower in my room - Room was very small. I paid for a room with a shower for 2 nights, when I arrived I was told I was sharing a shower and a toilet which was down the hall from my room. Won't stay here again as I didn't get what I paid for.
• wingsonwheels (2/5): Beware, they precharge your card - Booked this hostel on booking website where it clearly says they only preauthorise the credit card and payment would be directly at the hostel. But my credit card was charged for E35 months in advance immediately after booking, not just a credit check but an actual charge. Don't book here unless you are prepared for this.
• 136hemnathr (8/5): A decent budget place in the heart of the city - A very decent and budget place right in the middle of the city. Situated at a very convenient place with 3 minutes walk to plaça catalunya and 7 minutes walk to beachfront. Surrounded by numerous Tapas bars and cheap eats. Neatly maintained rooms and the property caretaker is a very kind human being.
• 77maple123 (10/5): Clean and central hit the spot - This modest 5 room pension just of catalunya square on a walking street was a perfect low cost option. We stayed 5 nights in spotlessly clean shabby chic. It is looked after by Mr Ruiz who is efficient friendly and works hard at keeping it clean and comfortable. We had room one in the front the strret below was our constant entertainment as we come from quiet canada we loved it. If we wanted peace we just closed our very modern balcony windows and all the sound was gone. It is three floor up there is a modern elevator which starts on the first floor not the ground we never used it. We shared the shower and two toilets but we never bumped into the other guest although we know it was well booked. Would use again
• ovibal (10/5): exceptional - I staying between 5-8 oct. in pension Arosa. Located in close proximity to the Catalunya square and parallel to the famous Rambla. The rooms are very clean and the owner, Mr. Ruiz, was very helpful with information and made a exceptional gesture, sent me to the next hotel where I will be stay in Valencia, the eyeglasses, forgot in the room. Thanks again, mister Ruiz.
• alexrees (10/5): Great find! - Stayed here for 2 nights with 2 of my friends last week. We had been in ibiza for a week and decided to stop at barcelona on the way home for a couple of days. This hostal was exactly what we needed. The location is amazing! 2 mins from La Rambla and 2 mins from Catalunya Square where we got the airport bus to and from. The room had 3 single beds, a shower, sink and fridge. Room is very basic, but completely fine and spotlessly clean! There is no air con so can be quite warm but we had a big fan and balcony doors open. We really just needed a base and not a luxury hotel (who wants to waste any more time than necessary in your room, when you should be out exploring!?) I would definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to several friends. The hostal entrance can be tricky to find, if you look for the green shoeshop across from Zara and next door to new balance, it has a shared entrance just next to the shoeshop, just buzz up from there.
• fatout (10/5): Great! - I stayed here with 2 friends of mine for 5 nights. The location is EXCELLENT. Walking distance from the Rambla, Plaza Catalunya and if you don't mind the extra steps Casa Batlo and the Arc de Triomf. The owner was wonderful and kept the place spotless especially the bathrooms. If you are looking for a great location and a comfortable place to rest your head it's perfect. Not a 5 star hotel but simple and cozy. I'd definitely return.
• 289sandyc (8/5): Value and location= great! - This isn't the most luxurious hotel in the world, but the owner is friendly and keeps the place spotless. It's incredible how a place so central can be so budget friendly too. Some say the noise from the street is too much, but with the balcony(!) doors closed I hardly noticed anything. One toilet room, and one toilet/shower room for the whole place, but my room had a sink and fridge. Internet only worked in the lobby, which is right outside your door anyhow. I'd love to stay here again.
