Guest Reviews
Local afastado do centro.
- Leah (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (3/5): Poor - Great location that is close to town. The rooms are clean and present well, though they are small. Perfect size for a solo traveller.
The staff are lovely, though you need Google translate if you can't speak Spanish. I stayed for 6 nights. My room was not cleaned in that time, which I am fine with, though I had to ask for more toilet paper and my bin for the toilet was not emptied at all. The bin was very small, so any other rubbish I had to leave on the floor. There were no bins in the complex. I had a pile of empty water bottles in my room too.
There was no blanket on the bed, just sheets. I had to ask for a blanket.
The hot water was intermittent, but mostly did not work.
If you're tall you'll need to remember to duck your head every time you go to the bathroom as the door frame is low.
The wifi was not very good. I rang the bell at reception multiple times to try and get it sorted and no one came. The second time I went to reception they came and when I asked about the WiFi I was told "no" and that I had to go to a restaurant for WiFi. I'm not sure if it was a systems error or what the issue was but it was not a great service all in all.
The hotel is very close to the ocean, which is one of the reasons I chose it. I was at the hotel in June and the seaweed is collected and left to rot in the heat (33° celsius) on the beach. The stench was rancid and overpowering (it smelt like raw sewerage), so you could not sit by the pool. The smell started as soon as you turned into the street to the hotel and it was vile.
I would not recommend this hotel.
- James (7/5): Budget friendly accommodation - Close proximity to activities, dining, walking. Very nice staff, although I only met one groundskeeper-room cleaner. Quiet at night. The beaches down the road is a fishing small fishing charter business not a beach for recreation. Also, out of their control, a lot of seaweed. Poor water pressure.
- Lawson (10/5): Relax and unwind - My room was next to the pool.
Lots of sun loungers.
Aquacize classes in the pool
Lots of books to read No fridge
No kettle or coffee maker
- Lewana (9/5): Great location; somewhat spacious rooms; amazing pool area - Location was just close enough to 5th Ave but one block down towards ocean so not as noisy as hotels there, yet just 2 mins walking distance to the shenanigans; pool area was absolutely beautiful; close to all sorts of cafes and restos Our room was supposed to have a patio, that was just ridiculous; it’s a tiny paved space between two of the little huts with a single plastic chair; staff wasn’t always the friendliest and couldn’t speak any English
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (7/5): Definitely a nature stay but great location, comfortable and clean! - Beautiful boho property. The pool was amazing, loved all the shade from the trees. The staff keeps the property clean and maintained beautifully. Staff and owner were very friendly and helpful. Can not beat the location. Just steps to the ocean. Nice coffee shop just a block away. Only a block and a half from the famous 5th avenue. Anything you need is within walking distance! When they say nature stay they mean it lol. Never took one hot shower while we were there. I let maintenance know and we left for breakfast. When we got back he said he fixed it. There was super hot water for about 5 seconds and then cold. The outdoor shower waster was warmer than in the room. There is no WiFi in the rooms but there is WiFi in the common areas.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing staff, clean pöol, interesting iguanas, central but quiet location, good vibes! This part of the beach is for boats.
- Julie (9/5): Superb -
- Piotr (9/5): Superb -
- Weber (10/5): Exceptional - This is such a wonderful place. I really enjoy coming here as the location is perfect in the heart of Playa and it is chill and the staff is incredible
- Marcos (8/5): Very pleasant, not noisy even though we were a very short walk to the Centre of Playa del Carmen - There was an exceptional female member of staff, who had a lot of time to spend on the different guests who would arrive at her Reception Desk seeking assistance, from how do I connect to the wifi to where can I easily find a Taxi. I would like to see the wicker gate which opens directly onto the beach open and available for guests.
- Trevor (8/5): Very good -
- Taylor (7/5): Good - There are lots of bugs
- Vanessa (7/5): Good -
- Charlee (8/5): Very good - The location. Close to the beach, restaurants and shops. I found it difficult to find as it is labelled as Isabella Boutique on maps.
- Ian (8/5): I enjoyed my stay very much - Great location, short walk to the beach, all amenities, knowledgeable, friendly, bilingual staff, and a nice pool with lizards.
- Weber (10/5): This was one of the best experiences of my life and will be back as soon as I can - This is the best place I have ever stayed! Perfect location, staff was incredible, room was amazing, pool and chill area the best vibe.
- Lievano (10/5): Exceptional -
- D (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shelley (7/5): Good - Perfect location and the staff were great The outside areas need some work and the pool was closed for half our stay
- Dan (7/5): Convenient access to everything but could be great after a few repairs or improvements. - The location was great, a short walk to the beach or main street. One issue was that the rooms had no televisions. It was presented as a way of not staying in your room but getting out to enjoy the area which it did for me. Also no mini-fridge in the room, just a large communal fridge in the courtyard. Smaller things that would've made this place greater, were needed repairs. With only two outlets in our room (none in the bathroom), we could only use one because anything we plugged into the other would pop out with the slightest movement. Faceplates also popped off easily. The faucet in the bathroom look quite aged with a rusty plate barely holding it in place. There were also gaps around the doors which allowed small insects to enter. Not many as we only saw a beetle and ant during our stay there. The showerhead was very clogged with mineral deposits which I eventually cleared by moving each silicone nozzle. Better but it seemed like the water was gravity fed due to a lack of pressure. Sort of like showering under a watering can but with many fine nozzles instead of the larger ones found on them. It seemed cost cuts were in place everywhere such as only supplying the toilet paper that was on the holder and no spare. Only two towels were provided for showers, no hand towels, no bars of soap, shampoo or lotions as found in other places. They did have two dispensers mounted on the walls by the sink and shower but unknown whether is was hand soap or shampoo. The A/C wall mounted unit worked great so overall, it's an ideal place if you plan on spending most of your time outside and use the room only for sleeping. The pool was always kept clean but appeared to need more treatment due to it looking hazy. Did not see any guests in the pool during our stay and although there's an outdoor bar there, it was never used either. No morning coffee here or snacks but everything is within walking distance.
- Alberto (6/5): Eventhough location is great, the property condition is poor and need some mainentance - The location is excellent, the beach is within walking distance and restaurants nearby definitively the property needs some remodeling and maintenance, the shower didn't work properly. The hotel doesn't have an operating kitchen. The receptionist doesn't have any customer-oriented attitude
- Elise (9/5): Superb -
- Bronwyn (7/5): Happy with the stay - The property is in a great location and the bungalows are very well presented.
The staff were happy and welcoming and we were able to leave our bags there prior to the 3pm check in.
The pool area was lovely and the resident iguanas were a thrill. The water pressure in bungalow 7 was not good and we had several days with no hot water at all.
- Emma (2/5): Very poor -
- Víctor (8/5): Very good - Great location and spacious room. Not much to do inside the facilities, a bar would make it better.
- Lee (7/5): Good -
- Terry (5/5): Passable -
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Lenka (10/5): We stayed 2 nights. Playa del Carmen was our stop for 2 days, we enjoyed it - price to value ratio! Very close to city c - Location
- Katinka (6/5): Pleasant - 3 keys and 2 locks to enter your cabana
No toilet brush
It is not possible to lock your backdoor
More money to pay than Booking.com advertised!!! Not correct !!!
No water in the swimming pool
No cleaning ...
- Brodie (3/5): looks pretty, and the reception staff are lovely, but the place is run down, not maintained, and the bar and resturant a - the receptionist was lovely! she was so chatty and friendly and we loved that. we were also very close to everything. the “patio” was awful, and actually hazardous, dirty and so random.
the resturant and bar were non operational, which we didn’t know prior to booking. and the pool was also not well maintained at all. there was even a pool light that had broken, and the wires were just in the water.
we had no hot water the first night, which was fixed when we brought it to receptions attention, the wifi only worked by the pool or at reception, nothing in our room, our light went out, we couldn’t lock the “patio” door at the side of our little hut.
the bed was comfortable but unfortunately all of these other maintenance issues just made it feel like we shouldn’t have paid what we did.
- Morales (7/5): Good - We like the location, it was close to everything in la quinta. it was close to the beach so no much noise. and the staff really friendly. it felt like like having a house in the beach the facilities need lots of work specially restrooms but for the price i believe its ok. there's no parking so its a hassle and the pool needs more attention
- Cesar (6/5): Pleasant -
- Gillian (9/5): Superb -
- Dominika (10/5): Great stay in Playa - Excellent location, good cleaning, swimming pool, comfortable beds
- Juan (7/5): Good -
- Sandor (1/5): Bad -
- Joanna (9/5): Superb - This place is on The rustic side if you like to have a minimalistic environment right on the beach.
Cute as a place can be seems like you've stepped into a rusty old fisherman's village/dive Paradise walk two blocks away and do you have some of the largest nightclubs I've ever seen however this place for some reason is dead quiet in the middle of the night.
It's very bare Bones however if you expecting any luxury forget about it however if you're there on vacation to really enjoy the ocean diving right close to the ferry lots of restaurants to choose from. Make sure before booking this place if you have a chance to see about the seaweed situation if it's bad when you walk out into the beach you walk out into a couple feet of seaweed and cannot get into the water through it you have to go to another part of the beach in order to get into the water. Oftentimes there was nobody at the front desk for long periods of time nor was there a security guard even sometimes late at night and the gates are open.
Very little English is spoken here and don't expect much about concierge the people who did work there are quite friendly and try to accommodate.
The hotel itself although quite quiet at night is surrounded by large night clubs but you have to muscle through quite a lot of people in order to get to this little sleepy hollow divers style glamping site.
The water pressure was okay however there wasn't much in the way of hot water and didn't last very long. There should be a security guard present all night long sometimes there wasn't a security guard and often times there wasn't a long periods of time. There is no television of refrigerator but the internet was fine and so was the electricity
There are no supermarkets nearby and yes there's no place to make your own food I suppose it's not important just a few convenience stores.
The hotel does not supply filtered water. The towels were very very old. No toiletries are supplied.
- Aleksa (7/5): Good - Location was on good position but bad beach is near there, you can't swim. Good garden was in the hotel with pool and a lot of sun beds and chill zones. a lot of bad smell because of lot of sea plants.
- Kelly (8/5): Perfect - Location was perfect. Close
To everything but a little off the main area which made my stay quiet. Which I like . Comfy bed and nice lighting. Cleaned daily . Safe. Friendly
Staff. There was no food or drink available. Which would have been nice to eat at the beautiful patio area.
- Patricia (7/5): Had potential, nobody followed up! - Deceiving when its called beachfront, closest beach is definitely not for sunbathing or walking! However, its still within walking distance to good beaches. Staff are friendly and do try to help, air con works well. Close enough to entertainment district without hearing the noise. I think this place had potential once upon a time, but nobody followed up. It has a feel of abandonment and disrepair. No food or drink onsite, the " bar" is a thing of the past that staff use to loiter. Bungalow has the bare minimum, no tv, patio area has no furniture and hadn't seen use in ages. Bathroom mirror cracked and stained, towels worn and stained. Wifi is extremely iffy. Nothing decorative in room, but bed is reasonably comfy. I only saw 1 other guest in the time I was there. Chairs at pool stained and worn.
- Triginta (6/5): Nice hotel, but not so nice beach in front of it - The hotel was right in downtown Playa del Carmen. The rooms were nice. Beachfront is correct, because the hotel was right on the beach. However, there are only boats and seaweed on that beach. You don't go to there to swim or to lie in the sun. You have to walk to the next great beach.
- Evgeny (8/5): Very good -
- Stacy (5/5): Passable - Location to beach and boardwalk were only minutes away and they allowed my dog to stay. You are right next to the fisherman's boats and the area smelled of rotted fish which literally took my breath away.
The room was full of cracks in the walls and the bathroom had ants and alot of knats. The sink linked water and the shower was very slow to drain.
There are no blankets... only 1 sheet to cover yourself to sleep. Thankfully, I had a small blanket with me.
- Kelsey (8/5): Very good - The staff was super friendly, helpful and accommodating, the location was perfect , close to walk everywhere but just out enough to not hear the party music all night. A cute place to stay.
- Sebastian (8/5): Very good - Part of the Bungalow was a little private garden, secluded from the rest. Just a racoon visited me ones.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melanie (6/5): This is a low budget hotel, and I’d like to say you get what you pay for; but in this case I’d say you get the bare mini - The location was great, and when present the staff was friendly. The ac worked as it should and there actually was a private outdoor area with the cabanas. The whole of the property could use some tlc. The bedding is literally a round sheet and a flat sheet, and decorative runner, no other blankets available in case the nights get cold (which does occasionally happen).
I was told the restaurant was not open (nor would it be at any point during my stay) and front desk wasn’t 24 hours (things that should be updated on their listing).
I had to leave at 7am for an excursion one day and the gates were shut. I couldn’t find anyone around so I let myself out, luckily (I think?!) the gates were just latched and I could discreetly open and close them.
It appears the water was being shut off at night (took a shower one night around nine and ran out just after washing off the soap, luckily I didn’t plan on washing my hair). The morning I got up early, there was no water in the faucet.
- Christian (7/5): great location and value for money - Great location and the staff was nice Felt a bit abandoned
- Idunn (6/5): good location, ok value - location, close to Main Street (without being noisy). Close to beach. sheets were not clean, which made it uncomfortable to sleep.
- Yair (8/5): Everything is great but there was no water service. - Locating is great There was no water service in the room
- Erwin (3/5): the place has potential under a better management. - the location is close to the center the staff doesn’t care about the condition of this place. water is not working in the bath room. towels were dirty at arrival. obviously the management of this place does not care about to provide a good experience for the customers.
- Nevarez (9/5): Superb -
- Alejandro (7/5): Good place, if a bit abandoned - The place is beautiful, super chill and extremely well located.
Don Daniel was also super nice to us, offering extra bread for breakfast and being there for us. Sadly the place seems a bit abandoned and dirty.
We heard it's going to be renovated soon though and we'd like to go back to see it renewed.
- Geovani (8/5): Very good - The room is large, bathroom too. The air conditioning works very well, the location is excellent, it is steps from the beach and fifth avenue. Despite being very close to several nightclubs, the accommodation is extremely quiet. The staff is kind and hardworking. The breakfast is very simple, even for mexican standard - I don't recommend booking with breakfast. In the three days we stayed we were not offered room cleaning. The mattress on the bed was too soft for our liking.
