Guest Reviews
- Staci (10/5): -
- Renars (8/5): Nice b&b, with warm and welcoming hosts. - Beautiful historic building, with very warm and welcoming hosts, who were always happy to provide tips about Coromandel, and share stories about the b&b, the people and the region. The breakfast was quite small (in size) and (apart from some nice muffins - 1 per person) on the simpler side with regard to options and quality.
The coffee was tasty though.
- jacques (10/5): Parfait - Tout. Le cadre, l’accueil, les prestations Ne pas être resté plus longtemps
- Ronny (7/5): -
- Steven (10/5): We hope to be back as there is more to see and learn about. - Historical ambiance and warm, hospitable proprietors
- Samuel (10/5): -
- Soledad (10/5): Perfecta! - Todo!
Excelente recibimiento de sus dueños con todos sus consejos sobre lo que hacer.
Estaba cerca del pueblo, divino todo!
Nos encantó la casita que nos tocó! Fue impecable!
Gracias! Muy recomendable! Nada!

- Michael (10/5): A pleasant stay in a beautiful old time setting. - Good location close to town.
- Linster (6/5): Nice old cottage - Nice old cottage; two bed rooms; small kitchen with fridge, pots & pans; micro wave The outside sitting area wasn't great; based on the description I had expected more room to relax outdoors, like a porche.
- James (10/5): A wonderful break, a high light of our trip to NZ - Location, character and above all warm welcome from lovely hosts. A perfect escape from the hurly burly. Recommend it highly Character and charm
- Alan (10/5): Very pleasant stay in a lovely heritage property. Many thanks. - Historic character of the property added to the local area and surroundings.
Very well furnished with appropriate furniture.
Very welcoming and helpful owners who are proud of the local heritage. Nothing
- Helen (10/5): Lovely place to stay. - Love this place! Ann-Marie and Ash are lovely hosts. We stayed in the cottage/barn (i.e. the original house, which was turned into a barn in 1872 when the main house was built, and then converted back to a cottage in later years), which is good for up to 4 people (incl kids). The shower was amazing; the cottage also had a full sized fridge, and a BBQ and outdoor furniture outside. Beautifully quiet location - lovely. A short walk to town across a sports field (or a <2min drive if inclement weather prevents comfortable walking)
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (9/5): It was just right for our family stay . - The breakfast was beautifully presented , table cloth, napkins, crockery a delight . Though I am not a fan of artifical flowers . The food was fresh and homemade As said the artifical flowers .
- Alon (9/5): Cozy and comfortable stay with warm hosts. - Ann-Marie and Ash are incredible hosts that provide a cozy experience at their well-taken care of homestead. Coromandel town doesn’t have much to offer, especially compared to the towns surrounding it (Hahei, Whitianga, etc.)
- Shi (8/5): Nice to stay - Comfortable place to stay Not sure if it is possible to provide a heat pump. It is bit too warm in the room in summer.
- Guillaume (9/5): Lovely stay in Coromandel Town. - Description perfectly matches reality, comfy and very nice. House is not immediately next to the road, thus quiet. Garden is super nice to spend a sunny end of the day with a nice glass of wine, or a cup of tea.
Hosts are wonderful, always ready to help but discreet at the same time.
A lot of tips and recipes exchanged. Ann-Marie is a great cook, breakfast was excellent. Ash has given us a lot of information about the region, hikes and geology of the Coromandel peninsula.
Grocery stores, several good restaurants and starts of hikes at 5min drive.
We definitely recommend it and we will certainly come back if we come back in this region!!! Nothing particular.
- Paul (9/5): Nice old place, great hosts so would definitely go back - The old house and room we had were very nice.Anne marie was very welcoming and made a great breakfast.Ash was great for a knowledgeable conversation. Nothing
- Charlie (9/5): Lovely town, excellent hosts and characterful property - Excellent position and hosts. Good breakfast and clean and comfortable rooms. Lovely town and excellent food. Lots of good walking and spectacular views Not much
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional - Ann-Marie and Ash couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. We were upgraded to the self catering cottage which was superb! Lots of great suggestions for local beaches and walks.
- Mario (10/5): Beautiful stay in a historic cottage minutes from Coromandel town - The cottage we stayed in was super cute and comfortable. Such a unique accommodation with such kind hosts. Was great to have high quality linens and fans for the warm nights. Ann-Marie provided excellent recommendations for local eats and activities. The addition of a portacot was also highly appreciated. We loved the surrounding gardens and short walk to local Coromandel town. Would definitely recommend to other travellers looking for gorgeous and unique accommodation. We were travelling with two small children (11 months and 26 months) and while very comfortable and historic, the cottage is not designed for such small children. The bathroom, in particular, is quite tricky to safely shower or bathe very small children. This point is definitely NOT a criticism just a note for future travellers with very young children to consider. Overall we had a great time!
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Olesia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abby (10/5): A+ amazing stay! Highly recommend! - 3 sentences aren’t enough- You guys were our favorite Kiwis from the trip. The place is stunning and comfortable, breakfast was delicious, Ash and Anne Marie were above and beyond hosts and we so enjoyed their friendliness and expertise on all things New Zealand. We loved Coromandel Town and the nearby hikes and beaches. It was such a fantastic experience that we will cherish always! Thanks so much! Nothing- it was exceptional.
- Inge (9/5): Lovely stay in a character cottage - Lovely cottage with heaps of characters. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Nothing
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good -
- Bryant (10/5): Beautiful Historical House! Incredible Hosts! - My wife and I were really enjoyed our time at the Karamana Homstead! Ann-Marie & Ash were incredible hosts! The historical house is beautiful & felt at home during our stay! We enjoyed meeting their cats & petter rabbit. The delicious breakfasts are definitely a plus! Short walk to town & not too far from New Chums Beach (20 min).
If shortbread cookies are made, you definitely want one :)
- Nancy (10/5): It’s a home away from home. We will definitely come back. - Beautiful historical house, very quiet and clean. Few mins drive to town central. Ann-Marie and Ash (and their cats and house rabbit) are lovely and we love their stories. We stayed for 2 nights and loved waking up to the Tui singing. Breakfast was great, with fruit salad and home grown groceries and herbs. There are plenty of local restaurants and cafes nearby. We loved the PepperTree restaurant and Naughty Bean Coffee. Nothing. It’s located on the other side of Whitianga so it means that there’s a bit of driving if you want to see Cathedral Cove or Lost Spring. But it has its own beauty of staying away from all tourist attractions.
- Adele (8/5): we were looking for a peaceful place to get away and the barn was lovely even saw a few cats and lots of birds great pla - character location and peaceful nothing it was great
