• Leonie (9/5): Very good. Will stay again if in that area. - Our host was friendly and efficient, even if the only one on duty, so he was kept busy. For our evening meal, we just ordered soup as we had eaten a full meal earlier in the day. It was EXCELLENT. The breakfast suited us as we could have this at any time which suited our plans for the morning. Nothing to report. I've staying twice before, so I knew what to expect.

• Ari (2/5): - Awesome atmosphere inside pub, room had extremely good water pressure which made things better. the room was outside garden shed converted into a room, it was surreal being led outside to what i thought was an old outhouse toilet but beyond the broken garden shed door was my room. holes in the ceiling patched with old crate bottle boxes. broken glass that lets cold air in. it was a bit of a catfish with the fire in the photos as i thought that was for my room.

No option for a cooked breakfast although there was a good selection of cereals, yoghurts, fruit, and condiments for toast including oat milk for plunger coffee 😍 Shower was a little tired but good water pressure.

Very quiet even though its a country pub on a Saturday night. Nice bed & pillows. The shared bathroom floor was extremely slippery when wet. Not able to lock the room when away. Had to leave the luggage in the car until we were back for the night.

• Shaun (9/5): Fantastic country accommodation and pub - Loved the location, was a little difficult to find but that was the fault of google maps. The room was great and the bed was very comfortable. The lounge was handy as was the free morning breakfast. The pub kitchen next door was more than happy to cater to our dietary needs. Tasty food It was all fantastic.

• Johnstone (9/5): Great country pub with fantastic food and simple comfy rooms - Make this a compulsory stop on the Central Otago Rail Trail! The pies are outstanding, as is the other food, and there is a good selection of very cold beer. The lodging is simple but clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was self serve but lot of good options for fueling a day of biking. The place had a great vibe on a busy Sunday afternoon.

Id wanted to come and stay for a while since i had previously lived in duntroon and on occassion gone for a ride with others over danseys for the day and they had introduced me to waipiata country hotel, i liked going there from the first day i stepped in the door. Id always wanted to have dinner here rather than a quick lunch. It didnt disappoint.

• Pedro (10/5): Excellent one night stay (rail trail) - We had an excellent one night stay while on the rail trail. Very friendly and helpful staff, nice beds, good water pressure, fast wifi, covered bike parking, nice outdoor spaces, great continental breakfast which even included granola with dried raspberries, fresh fruit and plunger coffee. Hotel guests have nice shared lounge. Overall one of our finest and most memorable stays in NZ over a month of travel this trip. Couples: cheese platters available. Cyclers: Rooms include the continental breakfast, free laundry available (self-serve), ample filtered drinking water for water bottles, 50 meters off the trail. Not connected to the room itself but important to note: the pub has excellent food and drinks at a very fair price. The pies are house-made and excellent--we did Thai Lamb and Pumpkin-Spinach-Feta. The place was pretty busy on a Monday night with locals--always a great sign!
