- Elaine (10/5): Really great will be back - Location was great Breakast was lovely we also got a upgrade which was a lovely surprise staff was fantastic You didn't need to anything better it was all what we wished for
- Michael (8/5): Good rest stop with great views and convenient location. - Nice light-filled room Good view. Comfortable bed. Well appointed modern showerroom.
Comfortable , welcoming bar in modern extension, Terrace with great views.
we
Breakfast was well-prepared Buffet offered a wide choice Staff were friendly and efficient. We were the only diners in the dining room. The diining room worked as a breakast room but lacked atmosphere in the evening, We would have been better off eating in the bar The dining room felt like eating in a corridor. Some of the paintwork needed a touch up. A screeen for a conference room was left leaning against the dining room wall which made the place feel a little unloved.
- Adam (10/5): -
- Ali (9/5): - Very comfortable accommodation with good facilities. Nice views from the dining room. Friendly welcoming staff and an excellent breakfast
- Darren (8/5): Enjoyed our stay and meals were really good plus location perfect for us en route. - It was a great location. Really friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of parking (inc overflow)
Really nice breakfast and lunch. A bit tired in places but overall really nice.
- Lyndon (3/5): - Location The rooms were cold, reported to staff and nothing changed.
- Arthur (10/5): Great Value - The room was comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. Thebar shut a bit early.
- Liz (10/5): Historic place to stay. Lovely staff - Great place Nothing
- Julie (6/5): Adequate but I won’t rush back. - Quite a nice breakfast but no fresh fruit. Staff were helpful. The shower was very good. Single bed a long way from bar & restaurant, with a noisy road early morning. A bit disappointed as this was not a cheap place to stay. Double beds are the norm these days, even if travelling alone. The room was tiny.
- Neil (8/5): Friendly, nice and busy bar and sun deck with good quality food for dinner. Excellent provision for secure bike storage. - Friendly and comfortable clean room None
- Hannah (7/5): -
- vanessa (10/5): -
- John (1/5): It did not happen. - Unfortunately nothing - I booked this location as was travelling to visit a poorly relative - I had arrived to my destination only to find out that the Hotel had no room for me. I had travelled 300 miles so this was a really bad situation to be faced with and furthermore disappointed that i had no apologies. See previous
- David (9/5): -
- malcolm (8/5): -
- Danny (9/5): - Fabulous views of the Tamar valley. Wonderful friendly staff. Beautiful 18th century house.. Steep staircase.
- Gaynor (8/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): Great stay in historic surrounds. - We had a lovely stay at the Eagle. We had been warned there was a wedding event happening on our second nights stay here. Our room was close to the function room. We took the risk and so pleased we did. We are walking Lands end to John o Groats and this was one of our rest locations. The hotel is a lovely location to rest. Launceston is a historic town and the Eagle fits into this well. The bar area was great to unwind in the evening with good food and great views. Will definitely return for another visit. Nothing
- Wendy (4/5): Quite a basic hotel - Location is easy to get to, evening meal was nice Bed was rock hard, very uncomfortable, breakfast was disappointing - bacon and sausage served on cheap sliced bread rather than a proper bun
- Jen (8/5): - Friendly staff, spacious room and bathroom. Good food. Value for money.
- Gina (10/5): -
- Alex (8/5): A very comfortable night's stay, with own restaurant for dinner. - Reception was friendly and informative. Room on first floor lovely, spacious and providing a countryside view. Good parking. Only a short walk to castle and town centre. Breakfast was adequate and included fried, but not large and could have provided more variety of fruit.
- Jacqueline (9/5): -
- Jake (10/5): Great stay thank you for the late check in! - Great staff. Easy access even late night. Comfortable beds and clean rooms.
- Geraldine (9/5): - The hotel itself is beautiful, and that it is right next to the old castle is really awesome! The staff were all extremely cheerful, friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner - in the bar/restaurant with amazing views - were great. Menus had a good selection and the food was made really well.
- Sam (10/5): - The bathroom, great size bath, good breakfast options, great bar
- Paul (10/5): Fantastic stay - Everything, fantastic location N/A
- Paul (7/5): -
- Stephen (6/5): -
- Terry (5/5): Lovely people, lovely food.wouldnt stay again - Food at dinner and breakfast was excellent.Staff very friendly attentive and professional. Room was dirty and very tired.Thats the down side of a grade listed but it’s nothing that a good deep clean and a pot of paint can’t fix but I do appreciate the difficult times we are in.
- Denis (10/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Lewis (10/5): - Rich historic building, in a beautifully historic town. Beautiful views and staff were lovely Nothing! I think it was a great place to stay
- Bryoni (4/5): Apart from the breakfast and the staff it didn’t live up to the good reviews . - Clean room and comfortable bed , good breakfast Run down and in need of some tlc , matching furniture would enhance the rooms .
We were unfortunately kept up till nearly midnight by people in the hotel lobby and outside . Which was a shame as we had been to a funeral and had a long drive to get there .
- Amanda (8/5): -
- Juliet (9/5): -
- Jody (9/5): Great service, great location and great staff. - It was a great experience from the moment you arrive at the property. The building is beautiful and the team made you feel welcome from the moment you arrived.
The bar is well stocked and has great views over the countryside with a veranda to sit and watch the sunset.
We were lucky and got an upgrade on our room. The superior room is huge and really comfortable giving you a great space to unwind in.
The evening meal was excellent and again had great service.
Breakfast was simple but tasty and nothing was too much trouble. The room was a bit too hot. There really was nothing else not to like.
- Duggan (10/5): -
- Alison (8/5): Good hotel - friendly - Sausages and egg were lovely . They were great with my little girl also . The room was a little noisy as above the terrace so maybe with a toddler that wasn’t ideal .
- Sandra (10/5): Homely, warm, comfortable, welcoming and spotlessly clean! - The food was gorgeous and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Everything was so clean. I loved the furnishing, very homely and the quirkiness of the bathroom with the round window! The bed was so comfy. Plenty of towels were provided. Lovely supply of hot chocolate, tea and biscuits by the kettle. The breakfast was delicious, lovely bread provided by the toaster. They very kindly gave us rooms next to each other which meant that the elderly lady I was travelling with felt reassured that I was next door to her. It was important as we were travelling to go to a funeral and she was quite upset. The building itself is beautiful and despite its age every room was very warm. Lovely wood fires in the dining room. We were so relieved that there was parking just outside the hotel. The location is beautiful and really quiet. If we travel in this area again, we would definitely stay there again. Thank you so much for a lovely stay. Nothing!
- Thomas (8/5): - Lovely staff I was absolutely freezing at night
- Ulla (9/5): -
- Jane (8/5): We had a really nice stay and stop over in Launceston and would definitely stay again. - Pleasant room, clean and comfortable. Great views from the hotel - would be lovely for summer evenings. Very close to the castle. Nothing
- Zena (9/5): - Good location quiet and lovely building Nothing
- Helen (9/5): Really rather good - great young and friendly staff Alex and Lewis in the bar and restaurant - It’s history and location Nothing really
- Maxwell (7/5): -
- Peter (4/5): If we had to visit Launceston again we would search for accomodation outside the town. - Meals were OK if a little expensive. Service sometimes slow due to limited staff cover. Hotel is very "sad", no investment in basics of room comfort or public areas of the hotel. In room 6 the window was completely rotten and we had to plug the gaps with toilet paper to reduce the wind blowing into the room. It desn't appear that any money is being spent on the upkeep of this hotel and it shows. I'd be surprised if they get repeat customers.
- Pauline Ann (8/5): We had a lovely stay and every thing was very pleasant. Food on the premises was a big help. - everything The shower was a bit difficult and I ended up with a bit of an overflow on the floor. Main thing being I am too short to bring the shower head down.
- Hayley (10/5): -
- Ashley (10/5): - Nice location and used to more mainstream city hotels so was a nice change
- Emma (8/5): -
- Alex (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): - The Eagle House is situated close to the town centre with plenty of parking in an adjacent car park. The hotel is a country town hotel with a traditional dining room and modern bar, serving excellent food and their own distilled gin. I have stayed here on at least 4 occasions and am never disappointed with the comfort of the beds and the quality of the food
- Richard (10/5): -
- Carol (5/5): - The breakfast was ok. I have had better. Carpet in the bathroom, this is not hygienic.
- Marianne (8/5): -
- Nicholas (10/5): - Staff were exceptionally good, efficient and super polite
- Andrew (10/5): Great location, great hotel, great staff, and great gin! - All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Terrific value for money. Also they make their own gin. It was so good we bought 2 bottles!! Bold Winter Gin. Cloudy and delicious.
We will be back! Nothing at all.
- Paul (8/5): -
- Nicholas (9/5): -
- Anthony (7/5): A little tired but comfortable with an excellent dinner and helpful staff. - Breakfast OK, Cooked breakfast nice.
Dinner excellent.
Staff very helpful and friendly.
Spacious Room and communal areas.
Free and ample car parking.
Location excellent.
Bed comfortable.
I'll almost certainly be returning.
Hosted Café Scientifique meeting - very interesting. Bathroom lacked a shower. (Room 10) perhaps this could have been mentioned at booking time.
I understand it is the only room without a shower.
The room lock would have stopped a thief for about 10 seconds.
Although the wifi worked very well I had to log in repeatedly.
The TV was not smart. I could not even stream to it from my devices. (The Winter Olympics was on.)
- Mitra (10/5): -
- Paul (9/5): -
- Gary (10/5): Fantastic, would definitely go back again - Breakfast and diner were both really good. The room was a great size with a dual aspect. There were some machines in there running, looked like a dehumidifier, which was just a little of a shame, but no real problem. Just the dehumidifier machine in the room.
- Iain Martin (10/5): Excellent location, friendly staff, historic property - Excellent, friendly staff. Free parking. Very welcoming space for our dog. Nothing, all good.
- GEORGE (8/5): A comfortable stay with good food - The evening meal was good, especially the pea and ham soup. The furnishings in our room were a bit dated
- Andrea (9/5): -
- andrew (10/5): -
- andrew (10/5): very good - Very good very good
- Davood (6/5): -
- Leon (8/5): Clean, friendly and food was tasty. - Good choice of food at dinner and breakfast and the food was delicious!
Staff were all very friendly: Terrie, Mia and Ben.
- Nyema (10/5): -
- Mark (9/5): Love the history and location - The room was quite comfortable, the staff very helpful and the breakfast was very good. The room was up a lot of twisty stairs you have to be fit to get to it.
- Darren (8/5): - A lot of. Character and very comfy
- Kathleen (10/5): Excellent - All went well. Nothing could have been better.
- Josephine (10/5): Close enough to where I was visiting someone, comfortable, very friendly and extremely helpful staff - The breakfast was very good. The room was just right for me and had everything I required, ie a comfy bed and an en suite.
I also loved the view from the window. n/a
- Andrew (10/5): Excellent hotel.Loved the whole experience. - Is this the best bang for buck in the UK? Loved everything about our stay.Definitely booking again when working in the area.So good we stayed an extra night.Ben behind the bar was amazing.Such good fun and a credit to the hotel.Thank you Nothing
- Tony (9/5): Very friendly staff, excellent service. A great short stay. -
- Darren (9/5): Great - All good very friendly and homely
- Josephine (9/5): Love staying at the Eagle House. I've stayed before and probably will do again. - Loved the breakfast. The position of the hotel was good for me. The staff are exceptional, so helpful, friendly and kind Only one thing - the surfaces in my room were sticky. I put my phone down on the table next to the bed and it stuck. Just a fairly small thing, the rest of everything was great.
- Trevor (8/5): Cheerful young staff - Young members of staff were great All was good
- STELLA (7/5): - BREAKFAST HAD TOO MUCH OIL ON THE PLATE, I HAD TO USE A TISSUE TO MOP IT UP/WINDOW SILLS NEED A WIPE.
THE SMELL IN THE CORRIDORS WHERE A MIXTURE OF DAMP/MOULD AND URINE, I HAD TO COVER MY NOSE AND MOUTH TO WALK THROUGH THERE, ALSO WHEN I OPENED A WINDOW DOWN THE CORRIDOR THEY WHERE IMMEDIATELY SHUT. THE CORRIDOR CARPETS DESPARATELY NEED A SHAMPOO, THE CENTRAL PART WHERE BROWN WITH DIRT AND MUDDY FOOTPRINTS
- Martin (8/5): - Hi
The hotel was very nice and the staff excellent, I asked for a ground floor room and had to go down 2 flights of stairs to get to my room which was by the wash room so had machine noise all day whilst trying to sleep as i was working nights, I did not tell the hotel that i was working nights so was not their fault entirely.
- Adele (6/5): - The bedroom was lovely and the staff at breakfast were great.
- Gregory Stuart (10/5): It was very pleasant staying there. - This hotel - and room experience is extremely satisfactory / So Ideal for my Late August part of the Bank Holiday 2 night stay getaway.
My time there particularly the late evening / meal Helped me feel at home. I have nothing to say here….
- Duncan (7/5): Great location, lovely staff and a good stay overall - Check in was quick and straight forward very pleasant receptionist. Room was nice and large, very clean. Breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty The hotel in general was a little tired and the bar area could have been great with better lighting and decor.
- Mark (6/5): -
- Anne (9/5): -
- Sandra (10/5): - Very nice big room with a very comfortable bed. Great staff and location was perfect. The breakfast restaurant is very cold uninviting and dated. There was an awful silence as there wasn't any background music. And the facilities with tea and coffee were awful. The tea and coffee station was untidy and there was a fridge in the corner with a curtain around it!! It would be much nicer to be offered tea and coffee and have a teapot/coffee pot served to you at your table. It was like a cheap truck stop and not a hotel. The menu was also very very limited.
- rebecca (8/5): Pleasant - Character Some rough edges needed attention in the wider hotel - corridors and paintwork
- Anita (8/5): -
- Gary (9/5): Very enjoyable especially over new years - Staff excellent & friendly
Excellent food
- Chris (8/5): Served our purpose - Very nice comfortable room but let down by the volume and amount of traffic noise
- Kathy (5/5): Acceptabke - Accommodating staff, particularly waitress at breakfast Bedroom on lower ground floor next to cellar unacceptable. Moved to top floor. Better but cold.
- Nathan (10/5): Great location, friendly staff and excellent food - Service and food was very good. Bed comfortable. Room very clean. Shower was good but needs a thermostatic tap not the manual mixer - was very hard to get the temp right.
- Sarah (9/5): Great property - Great location. Very clean room. Well furnished. Good breakfast. Good value for money.
- Mandy (7/5): Great location but check in issues - Great location and lovely breakfast. We were told the hotel wouldn't be staffed on the first night and that was fine but there were no directions to the room and no one answered the emergency phone number. We finally found the room but the key kept sticking. Also someone phoned us back 2 and half hours later to see if we had got in the room. Also the room was incredibly hot.
- Suzan (8/5): Lovely comfortable hotel. Very friendly staff and great breakfast. Would not hesitate to stay here again. - Really lovely hotel in a beautiful place with a stunning view. Breakfast was really good.
Staff very helpful. Room was lovely and spacious, clean with a very nice walk in shower. Comfortable bed and wonderful pillows. Tea & coffee making facilities all good. Everything was good about the property apart from an event which was taking place the evening we stayed which was a bit noisy. We were warned about this beforehand and unfortunately we did hear a lot of very happy noisy people enjoying themselves from the room but this finished not too late. Just one of those evenings where a large group of people were getting together for Christmas celebrations so definitely not a bad thing about this hotel.
- Peter (9/5): A Cornish Gin Palace - built with a 17th Century Lottery win’ - Room was a ‘budget’ attic room but clean, comfortable and big enough. Mind your head on roof timbers! Staying at the Eagle Hotel is a special experience - hints of former grandeur all over. And a great breakfast. Particularly good meat sausages though veggie sausage average. And an in-house Gin Distillery! Hotel car park signage not brilliant in rain and dark.
