Guest Reviews
- Yadira (10/5): - Clean property
- Hernan (8/5): - we liked how modern it was and clean. it was also in a great loacation right in front of coco bongo so if ur ok with noise at night then no problem. when we got there we didnt have a fridge so we had to wait for the next day for them to install it and by the time we got back to the hotel the next day at night it was installed but not plugged in lol. we were never able to figure out our safe situation since we were having problems with it but its fine. everything else was great
- James (10/5): - one of the nicest inexpensive hotels that found in Playa del Carmen. and the staff is very nice
- Brett (6/5): Amazing room, no parking. - No Parking!!! Site says there is free parking , but there is not. You have to try and park on the street which is super crowded and have to pay for it, or have to park in a lot which you also have to pay for. Nothing crazy, but not free. Room was amazing though, super clean and nice. Close to everything, workers there were friendly and helpful just didn’t speak English.
- jose (6/5): - The hotel
Had no outside signage making it very difficult to find. The check in clerk need some
Customer skills training . Staff was helpful
Large room with 2 double beds .
- jose (6/5): - Good value for money . Good area . Clerk needs to be more informative
- Kate (10/5): Perfect location to explore playa - We had a short stay before flying out of Tulum. Location is awesome very short walk to 5th avenue but far enough to not be super noisy.
Room was good size with 2 big beds. Bathroom was good sized too
Japanese restaurant below was great too.
Pool / rooftop was bit of a letdown. Pool needs maintenance and there is no shade over pool or lounges so way too hot to hang out for more than a few minutes.
Would recommend if just want a room and don’t need a pool or breakfast.
- JOE (2/5): - I booked this hotel because it stated breakfast was included with the booking when i checked in i was told it was not included. that i would have to go to the restaurant and ask which was down the street at another hotel. the next morning i went and they told me i would not be getting my breakfast included with my stay. they told me i would have to call Expedia and work it out with them. very disappointing
- Akhil (10/5): - Room was big and very comfortable. Hotel was easy to find, and we really like the keyless entry.
- Jason Thomas (6/5): - Good location, room had a bit of a sewage odour intermittenly.
Comfortable bed, nice shower.
Hotel hallways a little on the dark side.
Ok for the price.
- Ivan (10/5): - Great location, very friendly staff, good size room.
- Dennis (10/5): - Great location 1 block from the beach and right in the best spot for shopping and eating!! I would stay there again. It was a great find and a great value! The staff was super friendly and accommodating.
- Natasha (8/5): - .
- Jennifer (8/5): - Great location and comfortable bed
- Naomi Carter (2/5): - What was advertised is not what I experienced. Mold on the pool furniture, pool was dirty the entire stay -pool furniture was dusty. Room was mid, light fixtures and walls were dirty. The entire hotel was too dim, not safely lit at all.
- angelica (10/5): - Walkable, clean, quiet. Not staffed 24 hrs, concerns, issues, inquiry is thru whats app messaging, front and room door is thru an app link sent to your phone, safety issue right there.
- Javier (8/5): - Great property in a perfect location, rooms are spacious comfortable beds very automatizated check in if you arrive late don't panic just send what's app to the phone number they provide they will be there, carefull the showers are slippery
- angela (10/5): - Jackie was an excellent hostess for our month with the marquee. The hotel is central and feels luxurious! Rooms are large, bed was comfortable, shower was excellent.
- Kristina Noelle (8/5): - Modern and sleek property, great staff and super comfortable bed. Downside, pool bar was closed, and the stairway was very dark and a little dangerous to be honest as the walls were a rough stone and no handrail. Be careful and alert.
- Martha (10/5): - That change my reservation to the Calixta hotel, is in the same family group of Marquee hotel, but was nice after all, I will like to mention that the people at the Calixta was friendly and nice, however I will like the next time do not be change of my hotel choice.
- Raymond (10/5): - Great hotel
Very clean and modern
Excellent location for an excellent price
- Nancy (8/5): - Drinking water was not readily available
- Henry (8/5): Muy bueno pero puede mejorar - Pros:
-Excelente localización frente a Coco Bongo
- Jauana (8/5): - Modern and sleek.
- Juan (10/5): - .
- Nidal (10/5): - It's a great place I love that place
- Juan (10/5): - .
- Ashley (10/5): - This was a great property for the price! Large, clean room with thoughtful touches like a yoga mat and sound machine. Will stay here again!
- Stanley (10/5): - Nice hotel, excellent value and convenient location
- Juan (10/5): Perfect - Loved it it is great spot for everything
- Chris D (10/5): - This place is truly unique, with easy access to everything. It's very close to the beach and offers access to many restaurants. I highly recommend this place!
- Aleksandra (8/5): - Professional and helpful staff, clean facility, safe neighborhood, walkable distance.
I really disliked the fact that breakfast was in next hotel and the e- room keys often didn't work.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Love the hotel was very clean and modern love the chic vibe and staff
- Claudine (10/5): - Size and decor of room was impressive!
- Jason (8/5): - Everything was great. Great spacious modern room. Very friendly staff. Great location. The night was extremely loud until 3am, but not a fault of the hotel. Thank you for hosting us for the night.
- Derilia (10/5): - The room was very clean, close to places to eat and beach. Front desk was very polite.
- Nidal (10/5): - By far it is a good place it is an excellent place for the money and the staff all of them especially Jackie and her sister the room is very spacious and clean I enjoyed that place and the rooftop it has a beautiful view I recommend this place
- Marcela (10/5): - Modern facility, perfect for couples. Included in price breakfast takes place at another hotel, close by. It won’t make you full, barely any food there. Not worth going, menu doesn’t change. Save yourself time and go out for a decent meal anywhere close by.
- Pedro (8/5): - Overall good hotel, perfectly placed near main tourist attractions. Staff was super friendly and very helpful.
- Francisco (8/5): - Great Staff, very convenient location a modern. We had. Great experience. Including help with Huracán Bradly
- Monica (10/5): - Everything was great. It was clean, the bed was comfortable and it was conveniently located. The staff was friendly and I enjoyed my stay.
- Roshan (10/5): - The location for playa del Carmen is absolutely amazing. When I say that it is the heart of Cancun, it is absolutely wonderful. Marquee is also extremely safe. There are glass doors which are automated by a 24/7 front staff. There are also digital access keys. Given the area it’s in, also very close to basically any dining area, few mins from the beach walking distance, and accessible transport .
- Jessica (10/5): - Everything was perfect. The rooms are very elegant and the staff is very helpful.
- Ana Julia (10/5): - .
- Stanley (10/5): - Nice contemporary boutique hotel in a nice Playa Del Carmen enclave. Lots of restaurant options and near by shopping.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent boutique hotel - A lovely boutique hotel, with modern furnishing and style, just off the bustling 5th Avenue. Having to walk to the nearby Calixta Hotel for breakfast is a little bit of a hassle, but OK because it’s very close. Staff are helpful and friendly. I would stay again.
- wendy (10/5): - Great
- Aquíleo (10/5): - Amazing beautiful clean place
- Syed (8/5): - Great hotel to stay. Only improvement could be cleaning the pool more frequently.
- Filip (10/5): - Great location, amazing room, great night time receptionist.
- Yik Cham (10/5): - Location is very great. Just opposite to Coco Bongo.
- Josue (6/5): No parking - Very good room but no parking
- Charvon (10/5): - The property was beautiful and clean. Very convenient to all shops and restaurants and the beach! Jackie was amazing and very helpful throughout our trip!
- Yao (10/5): - good
- byanka2017 (10/5): Great location! Spacious Room - We stayed at Marquee Playa for 3 nights. We re allowed to check in a few hours prior check in which made it convenient for us (no extra charge) Staff is super friendly!
We had a suite on 3rd floor which was very spacious! Confortable bed but pillows were a bit too big or stiff. They could have at least pro posed a couple of free water bottles but instead we had a glass bottle of water they filled up (which of course we did not drink)
Location is great, was a bit concerned with the noise since Coco Bongos is right in the corner but that was not an issue at all. The room has a noise canceling machine which we used.
Hotel offers free breakfast at their sister hot Calixta which is a few steps right after crossing the street. We loved this service and had no issues walking over every morning.
Their pool was cold and had no DJ or any service, which is a shame since is so pretty and had a nice view of the beach. Even if they do 1 night on a Saturday, I think it will attract their guests to use their rooftop facilities.
We would definitely stay here again an it recommended Marquee Playa for your stay at Playa del Carmen!
- Blanca Saborio and Javier (10/5): - Our first time at Playa del Carmen and Marquee Hotel was just perfect for the 3 days we needed. We loved the room (we got the corner suite on 3rd floor) was spacious and bed was comfortable. We were a bit concerned because of Coco Bongos being so close to the hotel and the noise however they provide a noise canceling machine which helped. Not bad at all since we were on 3rd floor.
Staff was super nice and they even allowed us to check in a few hours prior checking in time.
I think the hotel could have at least provide a coffee machine or even a couple of bottles of water in the first day at least. We had a convenient store right in the corner which we walked to get water and some groceries.
Hotel (for our taste) was a bit too dark. Specially the hallways. Could defuse more light specially if you come back from having a few drinks could be a bit dangerous if you don't watch your step. Our room had an escalator going down right in front.
Their pool was closed and there was no service or happy hours. They do offer free breakfast but is located very close by at their sister hotel Calixta.
Overall we would definitely stay here again if and when we go back to Playa. Location, location, location!!!
- Ayanna (8/5): - Staff was very friendly, the room was clean and beautiful, convenient location (steps away from 5th avenue).
As many have stated, the breakfast can be better, not many options. The rooftop is also pretty dusty if you choose to relax there. It doesn’t seem like they clean the chairs/ tables daily
- DanF2701 (10/5): Excellent except breakfast - We enjoyed the stay at Marquee Playa Hotel.
- Large and clean rooms
- wonderful rooftop pool area
- friendly bilingual staff
- great position one road back from thr walking street
The only downside is the terrible continental breakfast you have to go to their sister hotel to have - we went once and preferred to forget it was included - waste of time
- Karla (10/5): - It was a great place to stay in with kids, breakfast was included and it was more than expected. All staff was kind and helpful at all times. Hotel is clean, modern and updated.
- Tomer (10/5): - Thank you for 9 nights its was perfect stay
- Ana (10/5): Amazing rooftop view - Very confortable and clean, staff super friendly, close to everything and the view from the rooftop was just amazing
- Amanda (8/5): - I loved my stay here. Amazing and convenient location. Walkable to everything you can want to experience in Playa Del Carmen.
Staff were friendly and helpful. There was always someone at the desk.
Rooms were nice and common areas were clean.
I didn’t mind having to walk to the other hotel for breakfast it was like 2 blocks away but as others said the options were limited (same everyday).
My only complaint would be that noise travels a lot (I’m actually hard of hearing so the fact that I could hear loud noises from other rooms says a lot).
But even with the cons I would stay here again in a heart beat I loved it.
- Donavan (10/5): - Loved the staff how helpful they are. Coca was across the street. 5th ave was 2 blocks away. Its hard to find because its front door is on the side street
- John (8/5): - Loved this boutique style hotel. Only negative is you’re a block off main road and is loud at night. Hotel pool is smaller than the picture shown. Staff is very friendly
- Yeni (2/5): - We stayed at this hotel for one night. The front desk service was decent, and we didn’t use the rooftop pool. We also skipped breakfast, so we won’t comment on those two aspects. The room initially looked nice and modern. However, because we arrived very late, I went straight to sleep. The next morning, when I lifted the covers, I discovered that the bedsheet was covered in someone else’s blood stains—quite disgusting. Since we had to catch a flight, I didn’t have time to argue with the front desk; I just took a photo to show everyone. I definitely won’t stay at this hotel again when I return to PDC. There wasn’t even a trash bin in the room."
- Lisbet (10/5): - Me encanto el hotel todo está muy cerca y es muy confortable las habitaciones
- Z6237WGcarmenb (2/5): 💩 Hole - Very noisy hotel opposite coco bongos, which opens about 10 pm and goes on until 3 am. Lots of cars and bikes screeching around at all hours, and people gobbing off, don't expect to get any sleep. Could do with a refurb, lots of tatty elements in the room, cleaning of the room on request and just felt filthy all the time. Breakfast terrible. All in all don't bother, awful, would not recommend
- Mario (10/5): - Plain & simple.
Very close to everything you may need.
The only con is parking but there’s a few spots around the place
- KimberB3960 (8/5): Would stay again!! Great staff great location beautiful room - Staff was amazing! Maylee was so helpful, she came to our room to help us change Netflix to English and was helpful the entire time and always smiling! Rooftop pool is awesome location is great. We have a room facing coco bongos we thought it may be noisy it wasnt bad at all. Room was nice and clean location great. The only thing was breakfast at the other hotel was disappointing. Some days there was toast, yogurt or granola. Never all together at the same time. One day just granola no toast or yogurt. We brought our own yogurt the next day and then they didn’t have granola. One day no coffee. Just very basic and no consistent although the staff there was nice too.
- Ahmed (10/5): - Great hotel
- 818ulyssesm (10/5): Great experience - This hotel has a great location. It is really convenient as it is near everything. Everyone who works at the front desk is really nice, specifically Jesus. He is super nice and would go an extra mile to help you and always greets you with a great smile. The room was clean and it has Apple TV do you can stream from your phone. Also, in case you are noise sensitive, they have ear plugs if needed. To me inside the room, I hardly hear the music from the clubs near by. Great place and stuff.
- MICHAEL (8/5): Enjoyable - Beautiful stay! Very convenient location. Great service! Great rooftop with ocean view.
- Tanveer (8/5): Nice hotel in Playa - Its a small boutique hotel in a great location. The room is of great size and has the right amenities. the curtains don't darken the room and it wakes you up really early in the morning. We enjoyed staying there though. The rooftop restaurant served good breakfast that was part of our rate.
- Julio (2/5): - Posting lied about property amenities - it clearly said “on site parking” property had no parking and only paid street parking was available which is not notes on description- ended up booking somewhere else - need refund or credit from this booking - Expedia please contact me ASAP 317-362-5699
- Anand (10/5): - Amazing!
- Kimberly (8/5): - Super close to 5th Ave and the beach, lots of restaurants near by to choose from. Continental breakfast had good options and service. Room was large and clean. Patios face a back road and not the main road like the other Kayak hotel which maybe wasn’t the best view but good still because the sun was never beaming into our room making it hot. Has super cold and nice AC staff was friendly and spoke English well. Coco Bongo it literally right there which was super cool to see and hear the excitement going on! I never found I needed the earplugs provided when your patio door is shut it’s very quiet.
- juanita (8/5): - Overall it’s a good hotel
The staff are really nice and good breakfast
- Nooosh7 (2/5): Horrible!!! - I checked in on January 25 with dirty bedsheets and toilet; super dusty and unclean room. I have booked for a week and already majorly disappointed. They just don’t care about the service. Today is the 28th of Jan, i had given them a last benefit of the doubt or call it chance to fix things ie. Call the plumber to fix the blocked toilet, clean the toilet , the room, change bedsheets and pillows, take the dust off the room and I came back to my room , still dirty but supposetly the toilet fixed- but not cleaned even though a plumber worked! The pictures speak for themselves. The staff are trying to help but The manager did not even come by to apologize nor took action . Also, i requested laudry service to which i was charged almost 4 times of the price- paid & did not get a receipt yet. Super frustrated instead of being relaxed and chillin on this island. I really did not want to write a bad review but they left me with no option!
- gregmitchell545 (10/5): Great experience - I just turned from my first trip to Playa Del Carmen and I stayed at Kayak Luna and it was great, it was nice, modern and clean and it was walking distance to everything in town, the beach, shopping, restaurants, bars, music and much more. There were 2 different receptionists at the front desk, Meyli and Jackie and they were both so very friendly and helpful with everything I needed which made my trip much easier and enjoyable and they both spoke perfect English which was a big help. I hope to return soon.
- Sailor_1997 (8/5): Great Location but Noisy - The entrance is not well marked and the front door is controlled by the receptionist, so if they are not at the desk, you may not find your way in easily. The staff were very knowledgeable and helped us arrange excursions to Chichen-Itza and Las Coloradas. There is a sushi restaurant adjoined on the ground floor and a rooftop hotel restaurant. The king suite we had was spacious and open planned. The bed was comfortable. The only issue we had was that due to the proximity to 5th Avenue, we heard loud music as late as 4am as the hotel had insufficient sound insulation. If you are not a night owl, you can find accommodations in quieter areas that are still walking distance from 5th Avenue (central area).
- DAVID (2/5): BAD PLACE TO STAY - TOO MUCH NOISE, REALLY BAD BEDS, NO FRIDGE ON THE ROOM, NO ICE, NO PARKING,
- angelica (6/5): - Checking in was disappointing, booking was fully paid thru expedia but was pending on their end. Waited for more than half an hour at the lobby till it was sorted out with a call to Expedia support for help.
Checking out was a breeze.
- Abdul-Azziz (10/5): - The property was perfectly placed for me. I like to party and it was located a block from Coco Bongo and maybe 2-3 blocks from the party strip in PDC. Also, many dining options in the area with access to the beach. Great location, also very modern and chic design with large spacious clean rooms. Sanitized as well. And lastly, although it was close proximity to the clubs it was far enough to not be bothered with noise. 5/5
- Olga (10/5): - We were very happy to have booked our room at kayak Luna at Playa del Carmen, the hotel is located in a very strategic place we had the beach at a walking distance (only two blocks 😊) and loved our room it was very nice and clean
- 857daniv (8/5): Nice location in the Playa del Carmen city center. - Nice hotel with good looking decoration, very comfortable. The breakfast options could be better. The only bad point to mention is that late check out is not available even willing to pay up to 50 USD for it.
- Benjamin (8/5): - Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Great location and service.
- Krystell (10/5): - Great location. A block from fifth avenue, friendly staff, rooftop pool, big rooms with 10ft ceilings and great balconies. While some other reviewers have mentioned the noise level from the street is very loud we did not find that to be the case, if you are used to complete silence when you sleep maybe it would be an issue but if you live in a large city the noise isnt really even noticeable. The hotel does provide earplugs in the room in case the noise is too much. Beautiful newly renovated rooms, we had the king room, note the shower is glass and faces the room, which is great for a couple maybe not so much for friends. Very secure area, 24 hr 711 store a block away, several cafes and restaurants and a pharmacy immediately around the hotel. Check in is easy and fast.
- Crocifixia1 (10/5): Perfect for couples - Great location. Very secure area, 24 hr 711 store a block away, several cafes and restaurants and a pharmacy immediately around the hotel. Check in is easy and fast. The rooms look exactly like the pictures. Fridges included in each room, robes, a yoga mat and safe.
- Lili (10/5): - We absolutely loved our stay here! The staff is so friendly and welcoming and the hotel itself is very nice and modern. Bed was super comfy and there was hardly any noise at night. We would totally stay here again and recommend it :)
- Dean Warren (10/5): - This was my second time staying here and the experience was even more pleasant this time.
- Joyce (10/5): - I really enjoyed my stay at Kayak Luna Playa. My room was clean and modern looking. I enjoyed the free breakfast. All of the staff members were pleasant and helpful. There was someone at the front desk at all times and they even had a nightly security guard. The hotel was quiet and in walking distance to everything I needed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hôtel au centre ville, plage à pied, mais très mal insonorisé,
Pas de bouteille d’eau dans la chambre ,
- Alica79 (8/5): Great location - We spent ten days in the hotel. The first surprise was an open space bathroom with no curtain to separate the glass in the shower from the bedroom. And since we are two friends and not a couple, it was uncomfortable at first. We got used to it later, but would have booked another room if we had known.
The rooftop is great and breakfast is served there. When it comes to breakfast service, when we needed a quick service as we were going on excursions, the waiters really failed. In one case there were no ingredients, in another a couple arrived at the bar saying they had 10 minutes and were served first, even though we ordered our breakfast at 7.10 on the front desk the evening before.
The location of the hotel is great, but if noise of the main street and Coco Bongo are a problem, then I recommend to choose another one.
- Scooby117 (10/5): Great location, luxury rooms and friendly staff - The hotel is in a great location as it is just one road back from the main shopping and restaurants street and the beach. This meant that it was quiet enough for sleeping but close to all the action.
The staff are fantastic - super helpful and friendly - and they gave us loads of great advice related to Playa del Carmen.
We had a delicious meal with drinks in the roof top restaurant- it really is worth a visit and we wished we had gone up there earlier in our stay.
The rooms are quite luxurious with large, comfortable beds, great toiletries and a stylish design.
For the price we paid, we thought it was excellent value for money.
- divinawong (10/5): friendly, clean, amazing and attentive service. - booked superior king suite. nice, clean and modern design. the staff were super friendly and welcoming. I loved the ladies at the front desk. I had laundry to do and they provided the service at a good cost. they let us check in early and answered any questions we had. when it was raining, they offered us umbrellas. a nice touch was when we came back, parched. and there were always 2 glass water dispensers with I think lemon + pomegranate? detoxing water. was a nice refreshment every time we stepped in. I loved our room. it was spacious, clean, and convenient with a good hairdryer that hotels usually lack on. anything that was needed was delivered in a prompt manner. 10/10 would come to this hotel again. thanks playa marquee! you guys were great. give everyone a raise!
- pascale (10/5): - Lovely hotel would come back anytime
- patrickkZ2315MB (10/5): Great Pick for Playa del Carmen - Big room, nice rooftop deck with a view of the ocean, friendly staff (they made me a bagged lunch for my Cozumel trip and it hit the spot), clean, safe, perfect location. I saw it got a few bad reviews for street noise but frankly it got downright quiet after midnight out there, and even before that the room seemed plenty quiet. This is a safe bet for Playa, this was my 6th trip and I’ve seen many hotels there. 👍
- 65renatoj (8/5): NICE BOUTIQUE HOTEL - ONE NIGHT EXPERIENCE. The hotel has an excellent location. Close to bars restaurants and shops. Only it can be a bit noisy at night. The proximity to the bar area within walking distance of the hotel means that music can be heard despite the noise-proof windows. But, if you want to be close to the party, this is the ideal place.
- ImNaomi (10/5): Amazing - Our stay at the Marquee Playa Hotel was great. We stayed in the Master Suite with the sunken tub. The rooms are extra clean and modern. The staff is super amazing and will help. We didn’t go to the roof top pool since we’re not pool people but is available. I would recommend this hotel and the area for those who haven’t been to Mexico.
- schweppi (2/5): Noisy!!! - If you‘re looking for sleep, you‘re definitely in the wrong place. There‘s a night club banging techno music until 4-5am. You could hear the melody, base and party crowd in your room. All the rooms are facing this direction, so you def. ending up hearing the party. It‘s the worst. I was wearing earplugs and still woke up, couldn‘t sleep the night.
