Guest Reviews
- huguette (6/5): Dommage !
Niets
- Olsen (10/5): Konge! - Super beliggenhed.
- Marija (10/5): - The place is a few minutes from the center, river, shops and restaurants. Its extra large, and very charming. We were granted a late check-out from the apartment. The stairs might be challenging if you’re traveling with a large suitcase.
- Anne (10/5): Fantastisch! Niets.
- Guest (8/5): -
- Antoinette (7/5): Perfect - De plek Tv geen zenders
- Otto (9/5): Ótima - Localização e comodidades. Aquecedores no quarto. Faltou o elevador para as malas
- wilbert (9/5): -
- Sandra (7/5): Top locatie, sfeervolle kamers.
Zondag late check out, zalig !!
- Alexandre (8/5): - Looks and facilities Door can be opend without a key (sumply pull a bit harder) also the gab behind the bed, the pillow fall in during night.
- Sofya (10/5): -
- Edwin (8/5): - Locatie Niets
- Paul (10/5): Great place perfect location - Room was more like a suite with a jacuzi in the attic. Bed very comfortable. Great shower. Plenty of channels on the TV. Heating was good. Walk across the pond to the room, was a unique feature. Location is right in the centre of everything. Liked everything
- Martijn (9/5): - Heerlijk
- Christos (6/5): location great, suite needs an electrician, plumber and overhaul. - location is unbeatable, host was friendly. hot tub is fun the electricity was weird and broken, lights randomly go off and on. the sink in bathroom was clogged. smelled damp. place needs a renovation.
- Ballatori (8/5): -

- Pattricia (2/5): - We booked through Expedia because we don’t do Airbnb‘s and funky listings. Nowhere on the front of the listing did it say check-in cut off time was at 5:30 PM. We were on the train for six hours and got there at 6:05. We were unable to get a hold of the hotel and Expedia was able to get a hold of them while we sat outside for an hour waiting. They would not help us or accommodate us, we went back the next day and the guy at the front door claimed he doesn’t work for them, and he wouldn’t help us either. We were still charged for the hotel even though we didn’t stay there. We have tried multiple times to get a hold of the hotel by phone and it ends up hanging up on us. Customer service is not good and I would not recommend staying with this hotel.
- James Kellner (10/5): Cosy. Central hotel - Very centrally located, walking distance to everything.
Well laid out comfortable room, excellent friendly helpful staff The stairs could be a problem for some
- Helen (10/5): Fabulous large beautifully decorated room in the heart of the city. - I loved everything, it was such a delightful surprise considering initially it looked like it was under a construction site. Staff were extremely helpful and my room was stunning. The Congo room, so big and beautifully fitted out in theme..location was also brilliant. Cannot fault it.
- Julia (9/5): - Nice and comfortable room. Exceptional location. Attention from personal very friendly and reliable. Because of my schedule I had to contact them through e-mail but they were very accesible.
- Carole (10/5): - Spacious room and very central
- Marie-Luce (9/5): Jederzeit wieder!
- Margaret (8/5): Een aanrader - De locatie was perfect.
- Bernard (6/5): Great location and nice room but not suitable for older travellers with tight spiral staircase. - This is lovely accommodation and fantastic location however just be careful booking this room if you are elderly. It is a very old building with a tight spiral staircase so higher rooms are no good for older travellers. Also we made sure to book a room with air conditioning however it did not work. We advised them on the first morning however they were unable to get it repaired before we departed. Tight spiral staircase and air conditioner not working.
- Mark (10/5): Lovely place to stay, central to all areas, easy access, clean and comfortable - Location was excellent
- Jason (9/5): Excellent staff in a very nice room with friendly staff and good walking access to all the sights. - Large spacious room, great air conditioning and nice garden terrace! No problem for us but the stairs could be tricky for any one with mobility issues.
- Christel (8/5): -
- James (8/5): -
- Huw (6/5): - Very querky as its not a hotel as such but behind a travel agency.
Our room was across a bridge over a pond and the room was a mezzanine with a large jacuzzi bath upstairs with a glass ceiling to see the stars.
The bar in the cellar made for great entertainment as it was busy and spilled out into the street.
The 9pm hug was different.
- Alexander (8/5): - Very convenient and quiet, modern shower en suite, access stairs are a challenge for luggage, check out times limited
- Tammy (10/5): - So cute!! Small boutique hotel in centre. The rooms are large and themed. Big windows! It is a part of the travel agency on bottom floor and staff only available in day, but self check-in or pre check-in was via email prior to arrival. Stairs are winding and narrow carrying suitcases would be difficult, we had backpacks and found it tight. Great location!
- Jennifer (8/5): Good little room in the heart of Ghent - We liked the location of this property. It was definitely walking distance to all the sights. The rooms were large and it was clean. The pillows and mattresses could be more comfortable.
- Jeanette (10/5): simply fantastic! - lovely staff and communication, perfect location, stunning room, loved the open ceiling with its historical charm and the bathroom was so vell build in. great stay!!! a lamp above the sink would help 😂
- Eric (10/5): - The suite was fantastic. Wow, loved the courtyard. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Close to so many sights and restaurants.
One comment regarding the suite:
The narrow path between the second chair and top of the steps in the suite would be challenging if you have balance issues.
Definitely would recommend staying there.
- Rachel (10/5): Wonderful stay :-) - The location is absolutely perfect and the room was comfortable. We liked the beams and the cosy vibe of the room :-) the staff were lovely and friendly and made our honeymoon extra special! Everything was great but be extra careful on the steep stairs!!
- Leela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Will (10/5): - Excellent location, room is very spacious
- Christopher (8/5): Ghent on your doorstep! Recommend - Friendly and competent staff
Great communication
Solved a transaction issue sufficiently
Room has character and clean room
Perfect location so would highly recommend
Easy access
Ghent on your doorstep! Staircase steep and not for people who struggle with mobility (nothing the owner/staff can do, just characteristics of accommodation)
Only one pillow option (very soft)
Shower design is not the best
- Mariana (10/5): - Very convenient location, walkable to everywhere in Ghent. Really nice room, properly heated and brand new toilet and shower. Recommend
- Erik (10/5): - Nice and cozy accommodation with hot tub. Very quiet, even though it's in the middle of the city centre.
- Tomibuzu (8/5): Very good -
- Nolda (9/5): Superb - Clean with character
- Iñigo (9/5): Superb - THe location is perfect. Just in the city center. As the room is facing an inner patio, any noise from the street is cancelled. Also the rooms is fully equiped and with a good temperature control.
Check-in is very easy and flexibility on a sunday for check out is a plus.
The backyard is very cute. In summer-spring has to be apleasure to enjoy it. 1. Pillows are not very good. Many pillows but actually any good.
2. Bathroom is good. However, the shower is not very well design and the drainage is slow. Therefore, results in making the entire bathroom wet after a shower.
Verder TOP!
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Ty (7/5): Good -
- Michelle (10/5): - Lovely room at the top of a winding staircase. Travel agents on bottom floor were delightful. Blackout curtains.
- Wanyuch (9/5): Very very nice! - Everything is amazing, we love it. The room and bath tub is amazing and the location is just right in the city center. Highly recommended Everything is so great. 😀
It would be nice if there is some instruction of all the lights and heating function.
- Antoon (4/5): Looked great but failed miserably - The out of the norm type of accommodation if you are fed-up with standard hotel rooms. Located in the heart of the city so easily accessible by foot to all attractions. Has good potential if more care was given to the final proposition. Unfinished product. Superb new walk-in shower installed but left unfinished with naked plasterboard, failing lighting over the sink and exposed wires.
When you pay £150 per night, you expect attention to detail. But that failed miserably. The cutlery is merely pilled onto a plate with only one bowl instead of 2. We had to put the kettle on the floor to connect to the closest plug. the TV was not connecting to any network installed unless you just want Netflix, nor were there any instructions on how to operate it and the 2 remote controls. The bedside plugs were behind the headboard and inaccessible unless moving the entire bed. The mattresses were soggy and tended to dip to the centre. There was barely no tea bags other than the elusive 4 Rooibos teabags left without any sugar for the coffee. The small fridge made such a racket we had to unplug it in order to sleep. A rust stain was present on one of the bath towels. The toilet light only works on a sensor but is not dimmed at night, so be ready to be blinded. The toilet sink tap is soo congealed with scale that it sprays into the door and corridor so you end up walking into puddles after washing your hands. There is a very very tight staircase to the top floor which is not mentioned. So unless you are perfectly fit and not exhausted after a long drive, it can be a challenge. Especially with suitcases/bags.
Attention to detail is key in this business, set standards and make sure they are, if not exceeding, as equal your closest competitor, because that is where we will be staying next time. Check and double check is paramount in this niche market. We suppose that in this case it was left to the cleaning team/contractor to figure out what they think is acceptable.
- Rachael (8/5): Perfect for our needs. Thank you. - Great location. Very comfortable. Thank you for the bikes too. Nothing.
- Lindawati (9/5): We live to come back and stay for longer when possible in the future and make sure we will book the - Hotel is in very good location, staff are very friendly and helpful The stairs
- Cynthia (9/5): I would highly recommend staying here. No mistake my first morning there was a rainbow right outsid - The location was perfect—right in the heart of Old Ghent. The room was decorated tastefully and comfortably. The garden below with fountain and pond was relaxing. The staff helped me get oriented with a map and kindly carried my suitcase to my room. I felt very safe there traveling as a single person. It was very quiet and quaint. The only thing I did not like was the spiral stairwell. I thought the room was on the first floor, but didn’t realize that this was the second floor by European standards. The light in the bathroom was not working—but no problem:)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly staff and room was nice and clean.
- Melanie (10/5): An oasis in the old town - A very private oasis right in the heart of the old town. Our room was out the back through a garden offering a beautiful private area to relax outside on a nice day. The inside had three levels the entrance and table, step down into the bedroom and bathroom or up the stairs into the lounge and large hot tub. The bed was excellent and comfortable and the split system air conditioner kept the place nice and comfortable. You walk out through the garden and the main building and you are literally right in the middle of all the action as far as sights, shopping and food are concerned.
- Peter (10/5): - Excellent location in the centre of the city. We loved the room, lots of space and cupboards and a fridge. However, please be aware that there is a very steep spiral staircase to access the room, not suitable for anyone with mobility issues
- Conrath (9/5): Great experience. Lovely staff. We’d do it again. - Great location; nice and interesting rooms; very helpful staff.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb - Great location, really comfortable
- scott (10/5): - The place was great and the front desk staff exceptional!
- Rodney (10/5): Exceptional - History location staff
- Donald (9/5): Superb -
- Erik (10/5): Lovely place to stay in the city center - The service was fantastic, and the location couldn't be better if you are trying to see the historic part of Ghent.
- Joost (8/5): Comfortable - It was great room, nice furniture and very spacious
- Dean (5/5): Passable - Location is good. room good size, shower was excellent No staff after 5pm or weekend. Had no coffee/milk so no one to ask for assistance.
- Gilbert (10/5): - Nicely located boutique hotel in the centre of Ghent! Facilities and ease-of-use were great
- Malgorzata (5/5): Passable -
- Marc (10/5): - .
- Tiffany (10/5): Would recommend for a short stay in gent - Really great location and friendly staff. Also a great plus was the flexible check out time !!!
- Jamie (10/5): Ghent was amazing! - Our room was fantastic! Beautifully decorated and big! It was located right in the middle of town. Justine was so gracious and helpful upon arrival. I would definitely stay here again.
- Wai (6/5): Pleasant -
- Robert (9/5): Superb - Beautiful room, attentive staff, great location. Having the internet TV is really smart, and it was lovely and peaceful with the beautiful garden. Could have used an iron and a little more storage/table space in the room.
- Briony (9/5): A well equipped, safe, and comfortable stay in the heart of Gent. - This is in an excellent location in Gent. A perfect base for me to attend a work event at the university while my guest used it as a base to explore some of the best tourist spots in the city. A well equipped, safe, and comfortable stay in the heart of Gent. I completely understand why there isn't a lift in the building given its historic status, but some guests may struggle getting their luggage up to their room.
- Raphaelle (8/5): A nice stay - Really nice suite with the jacuzzi. We unfortunately haven’t slept well because we got mosquitoes bites the two nights. The parking has been really really difficult to find. We also haven’t received anything about checking/checkout and neither saw anyone during our trip. I would also recommend to owner to give a fresh look to the suite.
- Olaf (10/5): - Through the garden was a cool setup. And the studio/suite was absolute fantastic. We’ve had some great comfort for 2 nights. Definitely one to recommend!
- katheline (8/5): - We stayed in the king room in the little house at the back of the courtyard.
Positives: the property itself has a fantastic location right in the centre of Ghent. The courtyard is beautiful and very quiet. We were able to have our coffee outside thanks to the nice weather. Beds are comfortable. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Downsides: the property could benefit from an overall update. This used to be one of the top B&B's of Ghent, but you can see it gets a bit older: loose tiles, marks on wall, dirty windows, broken lights,... It needs a bit of TLC to get back on the top of the list.
But all in all, a very comfortable stay right in the city center with very friendly staff!
- Anonymous (9/5): An amazing stress free stay !! - How open and spacious it was The creaky floor boards and shower curtain
- Katherine (8/5): Beautiful space in convenient location - We loved our stay at Chambreplus Kriski.
Lower rating for service just because we didn't really receive (or need) any. Hard to rate something you don't use. We arrived on a public holiday so the keys were left in a lockbox for us.
The location is perfect- right in the heart of everything we wanted to see.
They provided a list of restaurant, etc recommendations but we didn't make use of it. Mostly just picked what was nearby as we went along.
We stayed in the romantic suite. The set up is a bit odd (you can see into the bathroom from pretty much the entire downstairs which we found awkward). Otherwise, the space was clean and comfortable.
- Helen (6/5): Unexpected, quirky space in the centre of it all. - Location was fantastic. Having a bit of pretty, relaxing outdoor personal space was nice, in a city that isn't very green in the centre. the bed was very comfortable. Able to come and go very easily. Is a lovely haven in the city centre, when being out and about, you can pop back easily, refresh, and go out again. Great supermarket down some steps near Mc Donalds. Parking spot was worth booking and we were grateful for. Loads of character and design. Good for the younger couples. Air-con worked and was quiet. We were plagued by mozzies, that's no ones fault but it kept us up each night and we were covered in bites after 3 nights, so be prepared for that as we weren't! It is an amazing use of space, but tricky with all the stairs to navigate, so you need to be a bit nimble. Some bits need some attention: The ceiling of the hot tub, and floor of the bathroom need some TLC.
- Brenda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hope (9/5): Beautiful historic building in the Centre of the City - The room was beautiful and spacious. The stairs up were a challenge at first but I got used to them. The building was very quiet. Only some street noise which is to be expected being in the city centre. Just needed more coffee (smile). I wouldn't recommend this place to seniors due to the stairs.
- Graeme (10/5): A superb stay but tricky stairs - A wonderful stay! Very comfortable with a beautiful view over a garden that we also used for dinner and breakfast once. The staff were very helpful. About the only negative thing is that there is only a staircase of narrow stairs to reach the room. Carrying luggage up is a bit tricky
- Melody (9/5): Just like the town, this place seemed cosy and welcoming. - The location was brilliant, the staff friendly and helpful. It was a fun little room to stay in.
- Janet (9/5): Superb - Nice central location. Quiet during evening hours despite being close to many bars and restaurants. The outdoor space was lovely and I'm sure would be great to relax in during nice weather. Great whirlpool bath. It would have been nice to have a light to the deck when returning home after dark. Maybe we just didn't see it but use our phone flashlight. Both my husband and I on separate occasions smashed our finger in the front door.
- Karen (3/5): Loved the location, but would never stay here again. - I loved the location and convenience to local transportation and good restaurants. Our room was not clean. I complained, giving a couple of examples, like a dirty entrance way and a dead fly on the jacuzzi. They fixed those 2 things, but did not sweep the floors (let alone mop). We couldn't walk around in bare feet. The tray with the cups on it still had crumbs from the last person and even a feather and a hair!! We sent an e-mail to complain and asked for a significant discount -- no response -- we were ignored. The room was not conveniently appointed, however, the lack of cleanliness is our main complaint. We can put up with a lot if the room is spotlessly clean!
- Meltem (8/5): great location, cleanliness needs improvement! - the location was great so central
the apartment was really cool, the setup really felt like a personal space cozy!
great that it had a tv, coffee machine. the bath room and bedroom were really spacious! - No key at checkin: we did a self check in and there was no key at the entrance that we could use to lock our room.
- The room was not really clean (bedsheets looked used; they were stained and wrinkled; hair on the floor)
- there was so much storage space, an iron and board would have been a great addition
- Williams (7/5): giod location but steep and small making even a carry on suitcase difficult to go up it down - location stairs very tight and steep
shower was hard to manage .. water went everywhere
distance from garage to hotel
- Victoria (7/5): Good - Friendly staff who were very happy to help with questions and storing bags. We were able to check in very early on our arrival day. Stylish rooms which had everything that we needed. Great location within easy walking distance of everything we wanted to visit. Good public transport connections. Coffee in the rooms. Lovely garden. Gorgeous old building with original features. Very dusty - if you walked around in your socks they picked up big piles of fluff. School behind the building is very noisy with screaming and playing loud music so beware if you like a lie in!
