Guest Reviews
- Aaron (10/5): I will never stay in another hostel in Skopje, this is my home is Macedonia 🇲🇰 - You could never find another host as good as Nicoletta, she is as best as it gets. You’d think I was exaggerating, but as soon as you enter this hostel you are treated as family to the staff, it is much more like a home stay experience than a hostel with how much the staff cares about their customers.
- BENMEDDOUR (10/5): Skopje adv - I really appreciate the way the host welcomed me, the staff is really nice and helpful .. it really give you the feeling of home thanks

- Aleksandra (10/5): Excellent Stay Near the Bus Station - The room was quiet and clean, and the staff was friendly. The common area was also clean and cozy. The hostel is very close to the bus station, only about a 5-minute walk away. It offers great value for the price. -

Pretty cozy place to stay.Only see manager/host/owner once to check in and make payment during the stay.
Allowed to stow bags there before checking in. Nothing bothered me alot during the stay.

- Sebastian (10/5): - They have good kitchen, not like other hostels in the city. Is near to the bus station and not far to the center. The owner will help you with everything and you can ask them always for help.
- Anita (8/5): . Lozka stabilne i swieza posciel, dostęp do kuchni i balkonu.
- ahmet (5/5): why we have to warn stupid guests 3 times night and morning?? Warning is not our jobbbb???? - volunteer lady was help a lot for our small inquires bathroom had no soap and shampoo and hair dry, men room was so noisy 23.00 to 24.00 and 7am to 9am because some guys speaking on phones like 500decibel (no rules in hostel:( )

- Xinyi (10/5): Highly recommended. - Everything is clean and well organised. The location is good, very close to the bus station, and walking distance to the city centre. The staff is very friendly and very helpful on local guidance. Nothing to do with the property, but it happened that during my stay other guest was playing loud videos and having phone calls in the living room at 1am. Probably can make a rule about silence after 11.00pm.
- Lara (9/5): Good option if you want save money and be close to the bus station! - It’s a great location. Close by the main station and 25 min from every main spot. Staffs are kind.
- CEM (10/5): -
- Ubytovanie som si vybrala, lebo som jedno ráno cestovala ku Kaňonu Matka a druhé do Ohridu, čiže čisto z praktického dôvodu.

I recently stayed at Hostel Valentin and honestly, what a great experience! The hostel is right in the city centre, super convenient, and very clean. The owner is an absolute legend – kind, honest, and really welcoming.
I’ve had some bad experiences before, like at Historia Hostel in the Old Bazaar, where the owners were rude, inappropriate, and even accused me of stealing just to avoid returning extra payment. Hostel Valentin is nothing like that – it’s safe, tidy, and genuinely a place where you feel respected.
Would definitely recommend Hostel Valentin to anyone visiting the city. A top-notch spot!
- claudio (8/5): Great price - quality rate. - Cozy hostel.
Great location next to the bus station.
The staff was really kind and helpful.

- josh (3/5): Sorry to leave a bad review, but it needs to improve - The location is perfect, especially if you want to do day trips. Phillip, the manger/owner/maybe only staff maybe? is helpful with advice. It’s not clean. They have a shoes off policy which I love, but like you see in the photo of underneath the bed, the floor isn’t regularly cleaned. I was there three nights and I didn’t see any cleaning of my room or the common area. The second major problem is the bathrooms. There are only two, and they are also the toilets. The floors in the bathroom are constantly wet, which is an issue when you want to go to the toilet after you’ve taken your shoes off, and it’s also difficult to find a place to put your clothes while you shower. I feel like this hostel maybe used to be better run, and current management has maybe gotten a bit lazy. It is cheap, but that’s not an excuse for not hiring a cleaner or at least spending an cleaning yourself (it’s only a small place and wouldn’t take that long if you did it daily).
- Gohar (7/5): -
- Gohar (7/5): - The location is great very close to the bus station and to the center. The beds are comfortable. And the host is very helpful. The bathrooms could use some cleaning and repairing. The toilet was not flushing properly and was disgusting to use.
- Oz (5/5): Serious toilet problems, Many rules & Registration card issues - Location is convenient for bus station. Most bunks have curtains & lockers. Up two floors of stairs. Toilets don't flush the brown stuff at all, so they are always full of it. To many restrictive rules. No clothes washing allowed. Can't stay in common area or even use toilet after check-out. Kept promising & delaying the registration cards which are required from hostels/hotels for border crossing and we had to leave without them resulting in border police interrogation. In Macedonia, you are required to get a paper registration card from all legal hostels/hotels stamped by local police. Half the time you will be asked for this card when leaving at the border. Legal registered hostels & hotels tell you this and provide this card.
- Ben (3/5): Convenient location, terrible set up of hostel entry and instructions to guests - I liked that there was curtains on the bunks and communal seating Internet mishap, no worker there permanently, the hot water instructions, bathroom cleanliness, mattress scratchyness, lack of control of air conditioning, no numbered lock up top for entry (ridiculous seeming as nobody works at the property).
- Alla (2/5): Not recommend. - I’m very sorry to have to write this. It’s clear that this place was once made with love and care, but now it has turned into a garbage dump where it’s unpleasant to stay.
But the beds was ok. We had a private room for two, and it was not cleaned before our arrival only the bedding was changed.
It was very hot, almost impossible to sleep, and the air conditioning could not cope possibly old and not functioning properly.
The kitchen, bathroom, and showers were very dirty and sticky, walls, shelves, and shower cabins all had accumulated grime, and there was a lot of old trash that should have been thrown away a long time ago. The trash bin was too small for the number of people living there, so garbage was left on the floor. The hostel had an unpleasant smell, and in the bathroom, there was 💩 floating around. Even the owner’s visit did not help. His cleaning seemed very superficial, probably limited to changing the bedding, because we noticed no difference when we returned except for the removed trash, but by evening there was again a pile around the bin.
The water heater was not turned on, so either we had to wait half an hour or shower in cold water. As tourists with plans, we could not wait, but this also negatively affected our experience. I never stay here again and will not recommend anyone. Hope you will change, it's a great location, you can have guests for years, if not you lost them all in few years.

- Jana (7/5): -
- rachid (5/5): - Location, the room size The owner kept the remote control of the AC, we had to wait for him to run it ( that day was very hot 🥵)
The toilet flush is very weak ( you can imagine 💩 )
- Deniz (10/5): -
- Alexander (10/5): Good for me. - The bed was so comfortable... slept like a rock!
It is so close to the bus and gas stations..
could sleep later and check out later.
The cool host Philip washed my close at a cheap price and provided coffee for free!
I need coffee in the mornings!
Was a perfect stay for 2 nights and got to see the city about 10-15 minutes walking I wish there were more private rooms... but it is what it is... the hostel is a small one, so I'm happy with that!
I didn't like that the host isn't always there, but he had a cool volunteer
- Robert (10/5): Exactly What I Needed! - Wow! the Bus Station is just five minutes or some short meters from the bus station. Staying at Valentin 2 was perfect because I didn'T have any worry about getting to the bus station. There is a (I think) 24 hrs gas station very close, with ciggies, drinks sandwiches and snacks. The big grocery store at VERO, is about 7 to 8 minutes stroll. This place is a perfect place with its bare essentials, proximity and price. I didn't like that a few people have stolen Valentin's cutlery, towels and other little things.. leaving just the bare essentials for the rest of us. Nonetheless, it's a great place to rest up for a few days before moving on.
- Tiago (2/5): I won’t recommend! Pick another - Location is 3min walk from bus station POW stays on the toilet every single time because there is not enough pressure.
I told the owner that the hose was broken and dripping water out on the first day and after 3 days still broken :/
Not clean. They just make beds and do a mop on the kitchen.
- Marko (6/5): Pleasant - The owner/manager was really helpful and responsive! Also, very close to bus terminal (about 5 mins). Recommended if you’re traveling around Balkans. The only thing I didn’t like much is the bed — too cramped you can’t even sit upright. The bed cushion or linen also feels old and dirty.
- Chris (8/5): Very good - Nice to meet fellow travellers and share stories. Host was a local with fabulous information on navigating the city and country histpry etc.
- Bora (8/5): Very good -
- Valazovski (10/5): Exceptional -
- Frances (5/5): Good for a quick stay - Close to the bus station and only a 15 min walk to main centre of town. The bathrooms were a bit gross
- Sarah-jayne (3/5): Good night sleep and location, bathroom is horrible. - Comfy bedding and pillows, people were quiet at night. 20 min stroll into city centre and right next door to bus terminal so good location. Sleep was really really good here The bathroom was horrible !! Each toilet stand of urine/ poo. The shower just felt disgusting because of the smell. Dreaded to use the bathrooms when we had to because it was horrid.
- Charles (8/5): Good value - Close to bus and train stations
Can stay in hostel after checkout Cold
- Daniel (7/5): Good -
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional - I can't understand why people say that the hostel is "far away"from the center...
That's ridiculous, the hostel is just 20 minutes walking from old bazaar which is in the center.
Nikoletta the owner was super kind and very careful on everything, the hostel is clean and the kitchen is well equipped.
Thank you Nikoletta for all your effort to keep the hostel so clean.
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Mehmet (10/5): Exceptional - Many thanks to the lady who owns the hotel. She was extremely attentive and kind. The hotel was very spacious and clean.
- Elas (7/5): Good - The hostel is located very close to the main train/bus station in Skopje and can be reached on foot in about 5 minutes which is very convenient if you need to catch a bus or have an early flight/late departure to the airport. The beds are comfortable, clean, there is a personal light next to each bed and two outlets which I found extremely convenient having to charge more devices at once (a lot of hostels have usually have one, hence pointing it out). Each bed has a curtain which adds additional privacy. Overall a very comfortable in terms of sleeping. There are designated lugagge compartments under each bed, which can be locked by a personal lock. A nice plus is that they allow to leave your luggage while you roam around the city after the check out. There is only the possiblity to pay by cash, which for me generally is quite inconvenient, since I do not carry cash. The bathrooms weren't really well kept, they could definitely use some deep cleaning and be cleaned more often. One of them is basically a wet room, so after somebody uses the shower everything is wet, including the toilet, so it's not really usable. It was lacking very basic necessities like liquid soap (there was an old bar of soap in one of the bathrooms which is not really hygienic) and either one or the other bathroom didn't have toilet paper. Also, my personal opinion, but the toilet paper used is very cheap and poor quality, breaking instantly and I feel like it could be a nice touch to use just a bit better one and well as providing liquid soap for washing the hands.
- Crkva (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jerwin (7/5): Good - Near the bus station. Owner is friendly You get what u paid.
- Raphael (7/5): Good - It's a small place but everything works very well, the staff is amazing, he speaks English, the hostel is very close to the bus station and far away from the center. Sometimes the shower was cold, the bathroom wasn't clean but ok, i did see worse.
- Nikola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dan (7/5): Good - If you want to be near the train station it is very near, 2/3 Blocks from it, passing by the gas station. In a block of departament. there is a sign, but you have to pay atención because it is behind the trees
Quite, i happent to share it with very nice guest.
It is ok, The building and furniture need more atention althought i think they were making modificaciones.
Basic toilets. Need more cleaning
The worst was the itchy beds.
- Mayur (10/5): Exceptional - Location, Host Mr Valentin, awesome person. Nothing
- Natisall (8/5): Great location and price - It is near the bus station and just 10 minutes walk to the main square. It was comfortable. There is only one shower.
- Mfanukhona (10/5): Exceptional -
- Miha (9/5): Superb -
- Valazovski (8/5): Very good -
- Sacit (10/5): Exceptional - Good place, friendly owner
- Burcu (5/5): Passable - I stayed at this hotel in 2015 and sadly no improvement since. Cleanliness is a major issue. Place is quite dirty. If you are running a business, please invest some effort improving the property for your customers.
- Marcel (5/5): Passable - Location, right beside the bus station, it is ok for a short stay. Matters really tiny, only two showers/toilets, could be a problem if it is full, not well cleaned and you need to take your shoes off.
- Sarfraz (8/5): Very good - Nice clean place value of money
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jhonyerth (9/5): I enjoyed my time in Skopje, - This is very near to the bus station, just in the city center There were only 2 restroom for the whole property
