• Myriam (9/5): A wonderful haven of peace - This was my 2nd visit to New Tourist Guesthouse, and the wonderful staff and owners treated me like family. This guesthouse is like a small retreat in the midst of busy Pokhara. The immaculate gardens give you a sense of peace where it is very relaxing to enjoy some quiet time with a good book or chat with other travelers. My room was very comfortable, but at this time of year, a small heater would be very welcome as the nights are cold and the room gets damp due to the rain. They serve breakfast, too. Shanty, the owner, makes delicious banana and cinnamon pancakes. The guesthouse is located a couple of minutes' walk from the lake. There are many restaurants and cafes nearby. The lack of heating in the room with such cold temperatures at night

• Philippe (9/5): - Pour le prix il serait très difficile de ce plaindre. L'ensemble du personnel est fort sympathique. La chambre est propre avec un ventilateur plafond. Il y a de l'eau chaude et pleins de petites gargote dans la rue ( restaurants, laverie, magasins alimentaires). Ce qui palie à l'absence de restaurant et de petit-déjeuner dans l'hôtel. L'hôtel est à 4 mn de la rue principale. Annonce mentionne un restaurant. Mais pas de restaurant.

• Roberta (7/5): - Buonissima posizione e staff molto gentile e disponibile. Il ragazzo della reception ci ha aiutato anche a distanza per la prenotazione degli autobus! Bisogna ricordare che è una guest house e non un hotel: non aspettatevi di trovare la stanza pulita tutti i giorni e i cestini dello sporco svuotati (viene pulita prima dell'arrivo e dopo). In dotazione viene data una saponetta. Purtroppo la nostra stanza peccava di privacy perché le finestre davano sul balcone da cui si giunge alle diverse stanze. L'aria condizionata non c'è, ma c'è solo un ventilatore. Le ciabatte in dotazione per la doccia sono un paio (anche se ci sono più ospiti) e ho dovuto richiedere un asciugamano in più (ce ne avevano dato uno ma eravamo in due). Bisogna chiedere quotidianamente la carta igienica.

The receptionist tried to sell me a different room instead of the one I had originally booked. He likely made up a story about someone staying in my room due to illness. He showed me another worst room for 800 rupees, but I refused and insisted on either the room I booked or a better one for the same price. After a heated discussion, he eventually gave me the room I had booked. Just be aware — the host might try this kind of dishonest tactic

• Taylah (10/5): Awesome stay! - The staff are very attentive and easy to communicate with, We couldn’t stay in the room booked as the mattress was a little too hard for us, they did try to make it a little more comfortable for us but we upgraded to a softer mattress. Rooms are very clean, comfortable, there’s fly-screens on the windows so you can open the windows and let the cool breeze in at night. Not a far walk from the lake and there’s lots of restaurants near by. Wifi works well. The bus we took from Kathmandu basically dropped us at the end of the street.

• Lisa (9/5): Superb - New Tourist Guest House is run by a very friendly family and staff. The location a little south of lakeside is a max. 10 minute walk from the center and still surrounded by shops, restaurants, bars and other hotels. It has a cute little yard to relax.

Very quiet location, but still close enough to the main tourist centre. Very helpful with storing bags, booking taxis and booking a room when we weren't sure on exact dates. Garden felt safe to store 2 kayaks while we were there. Room was very clean. Not much to say really. Wasn't much space to hang kayaking kit up in the room, but I doubt that's a common complaint!

• Nahian (8/5): Great for budget stay - The place was excellent for a budget trip, offering a variety of rooms at different price points. This flexibility is perfect for budget travelers. The property wasn't a stuffy building but had a lovely front yard, adding to its charm. Most importantly, the staff were exceptionally friendly and considerate. Despite booking a budget room, we were encouraged to explore other options and choose the one we preferred. My partner and I chose a budget room with low expectations, but we were surprised. The room was very clean, as was the toilet. They even provided extra towels and slippers. The location was also great. Overall, it was a fantastic stay. Although there was plenty of natural light, the indoor lighting in the room was a bit inadequate. It's important to note that this place is more suited for friends and young couples.

The location couldn't be better- it's 2' from the main street in Pokhara and the road is very calm. We did not go for breakfast, so I cannot refer. The room was the best I've seen in Nepal traveling to different regions, in terms of design, comfort, and cleanness! I have no objections. The standard is more than adequate to the price.

• Rose (10/5): Very much worth the affordable price, and a lovely, open place to stay - The family welcomed us so kindly, but that's Nepal for you. The room had so much sunlight with lots of windows you can open for fresh air, there was space to place our belongings, a decent sized bathroom, the power and wifi is good, it is quiet at night time. We were able to do some hand washing of our clothes outside and hang them to dry which is very handy! The location was good for us as it is out of the central hustle of Pokhara but close enough for walking to restaurants and the lake. The family was very helpful with all our queries and we would 100% stay again! The room we had did not have much privacy, so we had the curtains shut most of the time we were in the room, as people walked by our windows a lot. The rooms also have a typical Nepal squat toilet which we don't mind but be aware of this if you prefer a Western toilet. No toilet paper provided.

Breakfast was nice. The ONLY thing I would say is the windows are thin so pack earplugs. But a very minor issue. With earplugs i slept fine. Bring some toilet roll if you use.

Nice to have a bit of garden and we could see some Himalayas from the roof for sunrise. There were places to eat nearby and it was not too far from Lakeside. • Gerard (10/5): Absolutely amazing - My bond with the family goes back 46 years, and forty years after my last visit I found the new generation just as welcoming, accommodating, and eager to assist with any request. The room was very pleasant, the bed extremely comfortable, and the bathroom has a perfect hot shower. The garden is a little piece of heaven in the area. It's amazing to see how the New Tourist Guest House has evolved from its humble beginnings, while maintaining its wonderfully familial ambiance. This time I will not wait 40 years to return!

Don't hesitate to ask if you need anything. Always willing to help. The heir of this Hostel is a very intelligent boy and a good conversationalist. Perfect location close to the Phewa Lake, shops, restaurants, etc. All in 5 Min. walking distance. Be aware: Cheapest rooms are equipped with squad toilet! We did not know about this, but it was no problem to change to a room with western toilet. Beds were really hard and could have been a bit more comfortable.

The fact that it is family run, was even better- you get a better connection to people.Garden was lovely, a nice place to hang out and the room was clean, spacious and quiet. I'd change the pillows , which were like a brick ,at least in the room I was in 😀.But I worked around it. Bathroom taps could use a little fine tuning as they either dripped or had to be turned off elsewhere.But very minor inconveniences and still want to give full 10 points to this place as it was great.
