Guest Reviews
- Steven (6/5): - The property is nice and staff are friendlly. Room was not clean though. There was dust everywhere around the skirting and the floor was filthy black when we wiped a tissue over it both in bathroom and room itself. The parking spaces are not practical when all mews are parked in. It is very difficult to get cars in and out. The parking spots should be redone and widened and have some parking in the common area
- Raymond (10/5): - Lovely good size room
Very clean
Friendly staff
Good location
- Ahmed (2/5): - The property is in the middle of no where with very limited food option, the in house Cafe is closed on Monday. there was human hair on both beds, room 6 was very poorly equipped and lit, I specifically asked about Wifi availability and mobile signal strength as I would have to work from the room, both were awful and I had to work from the local McDonald's 15 min drive from the property. My booking was non refundable for a 3 day stay, We checked out two days earlier as I was unable to work. Extremely frustrating experience, Local staff were very friendly and did what they could had. Before arriving, calls to reception were going unanswered and a recorded message provided a mobile number to a Gentleman who was apparently was on holiday and rushed to end the call, I requested early access to the room or a lounge and he was kind enough to grant me my wish with the assurance of Internet availability that later turned out to be extremely slow and unworkable. All in all this booking turned out to be very unpleasant especially after a 5 hour drive from London overnight with a 10 year old child.
When I checked out the following morning I expressed my frustration to the pleasant young lady in the office and informed her that I will leave a detailed review of the experience that we had and although the booking was non refundable, I will be requesting a refund.
I later requested a refund which was swiftly declined with a poorly worded email from the owner which I will publish.
- ANDREW (10/5): Perfect location for restful night - Fantastic location and easy to find. Great service that allowed late check in via key lock.
Comfortable room with lots of electricity plug in points for charging phones, computers etc which is a pleasing change.
Lovely large shower with powerful rain hail.
Room was immaculately clean
Excellent all around, definatly recommend and will use again
- David (6/5): Not as good as it was. - Appears to be needing an upfate lick of paint etc disappointed.
- Gerardo (6/5): - The property was a bit tired. Wall was dirty. Overall average.
- Ying Sum (8/5): - Limited public transport
- Darren (10/5): - Modern property clean and accessible
Staff very helpful
Will use again
- JEANETTE (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable. Great shower. Tea, coffee etc appreciated. Good hairdryer.
- JEANETTE (10/5): - Very handy for motorway on our route southwest.
Comfortable bed, tea/ coffee / milk supplied in room, also hairdryer. Good shower though found it difficult to get shampoo and body wash out of container on wall. Lovely towels. TV was not working.
Room was spotlessly clean and comfortably warm. Recommend
- Tom (10/5): - Amazing place to stay. Lovely clean room, Quite, Clean and well presented. Communication from the hotel was fantastic :)
- Ann (4/5): Revolting shower and bed - This is the dirtiest placed I have ever stayed in the bathroom needed a deep clean the shower trap was revolting looked like it had never been cleaned totally clogged up so water did not flow properly. There was dirt and mould all over the shower, base and glass potition
The bed was disgusting, the stains on the mattress topper it needs to be thrown out, the pillows need throwing out no pillow protectors, the duvet had hairs all over it. Because we arrived late we just slept with our clothes on .
- Robert (10/5): - Beautiful place. Great value.
- Nigel (2/5): - Just horrendous experience with late access as office not manned for check in, emergency phone number not answered, dusty room with cardboard towels, ridiculously noisy room as on main road and no soundproofing. Can hear other guests like they're in the same room. Heard upstairs person using the toilet, sneezing, speaking, TV sounds etc.
Left after two hours as couldn't get hold of manager on emergency number or office number and couldn't tolerate the noise or the thought of a sleepless night. Ad stated pool, there's no pool.
Blackout curtains don't fit the window so they're pointless and there's glass in the main room door and the bathroom door causing light to disturb you. Also bizarre loud clicking in the bathroom!
Paid for two nights with no option of cancelling even our second night and no refunds forthcoming at all.
Vile attitude from manager/owner.
- Mollie (10/5): Amazing! - Amazing! Couldn’t fault it. Comfortable, clean and spacious. Such a lovely stay. And it’s dog friendly. So we’ll definitely be returning with our pooch.
- Mary (8/5): Lovely, would stay again - The rooms we booked were really nice. We had a room upstairs and my parents had a rooms downstairs. They were the only 2 rooms in the building so really good for travelling with other people. The rooms were really nice and clean for the most part. There were a couple of spiders and webs etc. We were travelling for our daughters 2nd birthday and a cot was provided but there was no matress and when I felt it, it would have been like sleeping on the wooden slats of a bed. Luckily I had my own cot and matress so we put that up and didnt use their cot. The only other thing I would mention is that we were given a room upstairs and that is where the cot was placed however the stairs were accessible from the room and because we have a 2 year old this could have been dangerous. Because we took our own cot I used their cot to block the stairs off and if needed we could have moved to the cot downstairs as there was plenty of room in the other room for a cot. Our room upstairs was bigger so I understand why the cot was put up there but with a 2 year old running around it just would have been dangerous with the stairs being right there.
- Sarah (6/5): - This would've been a 5 star review but for the cleanliness of the room. There was dust on the units, cobwebs in the top corners, black mold round the window seals & I've no idea when the floors were last cleaned but DO NOT walk around in bare feet. I also found the bedding very basic, my duvet cover had a hole in it & the pillows were flat & uncomfortable. There were damp patches on the walls, some of which had white deposits so I believe this to actually be damp but when raised with the duty manager was told the rooms were fully repainted 4 weeks ago & it was a reaction of the paint with the lime in the walls. Having reasearched what that looks like it absolutely isn't this & I asked for a partial refund.
We returned to find a breakfast voucher for the cafe but I felt we'd been fobbed off & had no further response (our plans meant we couldn't stay for breakfast so no recompense at all). The sound proofing needs work as well, I could hear every movement next door after they arrived. Given it's advertised as luxury accommodation they really need to up their game to reflect this. However the set up of the room was good with enough space for 2 people, free tea/coffee/wifi & a very convenient location. It's quiet despite the motorway & close to local attractions. More premier inn than premier league.
- Liam (8/5): - Went above and beyond in relation to our stay, finding fridge to store medication
Well informed prior to stay with phone and email communication
Nice location, simple rooms but clean and practical
- Paul (10/5): Family weekend at the races and touring Chester - Met our expectations feels like you are in a rural location yet close enough to the City of Chester and close to motorway intersections Made to feel welcome by the owners and the cafe on site
- Jacob (10/5): - Absolutely brillaint, stayed for 1 night the staff were lovely and I am definitely going back.
- Karen (10/5): Highly recommend - Perfect for our overnight stay. Spotless, everything that was needed was there. Very easy check in and check out. Good communication. Highly recommend.
- Gareth (8/5): - Just stayed the one night and it was booked last minute , the caffe was great for breakfast
- Nikki (10/5): Quirky and clean - Last minute booking at 8pm at night after shopping in the area and planning a day at the zoo the following day.
No bother, given a code for the property. Beautiful ,clean and well lit forecourted area. I struggled with the key box and a neighbour helped...but that was a me problem. Clean and a unique room, we loved it. Mattress springs dug in my shoulder and I woke up with a dead arm at 5am.
Wouldn't hesitate to book again if i was in the area.
- Rita (10/5): - Very friendly and welcoming . The room was exceptionally clean with great shower facilities. Would definitely recommend
- Djamila (6/5): - Convenient for events in/ around Chester/ Cheshire. No dining options around, the cafe (separately owned) provides a good breakfast but is not open all throughout the week.
- Linda (8/5): - Nothing wrong with the place, just too far out for non drivers
- Tom (10/5): - The rooms were great, spacious and comfy. The only issue is that the cafe/restaurant didn’t open till 9am so we couldn’t get breakfast but other than a great stay.
- Ellen (10/5): - Excellent facilities and modern amenities. We especially love the walk along the farm trail where we watched the sheeps grazing and the beautiful sunset! It was lovely!
- JEANETTE (10/5): - Easy to find and not far from main road. Quiet, clean with everything required for stay over plus free parking.
Room ideal with en suite shower.
Excellent stop over place for us. Will definitely use again.
- JEANETTE (10/5): - Clean, with hairdryer, good shower, kettle with tea, coffee, milk - everything we required for our stay. Also a need stand to hang our coats as well a a television and wifi connection. Free car parking too.
- Rob (10/5): Mews Rooms - A friendly, clean and convenient place to stay.
- Luke (10/5): - The room was lovely and modern looking with a barn feel to it. The lady in the office was super helpful too with giving advice on trains etc. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.
- Melanie (10/5): - Reception staff very welcoming, room clean and tidy, an ideal place to stay for a visit to Chester.
- Kim (8/5): - Stayed one night and found the room quiet and comfortable.
- Helen (8/5): - Good having parking outside room
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location for short stay. - The owner is very friendly and welcoming. Our room was very basic as in only 1 chair, no wardrobe or drawers, would be good for 1/2 nights but not for longer stay like ours.Housekeeping could do with improvement as on 3 occasions we had no tea bags or milk left out for us.
The tea shop on site was excellent very clean, very friendly and really good breakfast especially liked that they have separate Gluten free menu.
We have been told by owner that our accommodation is due for a refurbishment at the end of the season and that new and more comfortable apartments will be ready for next year so we might stay there again as its location is good for travelling around Cheshire and North Wales. If you could block out traffic noise it would be in an excellent location.
- G (10/5): Good location for sightseeing in Chester - Location was ideal for sight seeing in Chester owner reccomended canal path walk, very photogenic and perfect for painting. Also well positioned for visiting Shotton.
- Raymond (8/5): - Very good but could not find it at first
- Julie (10/5): Lovely clean but hot - Travelled for work only issue is getting into the key safe as I have arthritis I can not open them needed to ask someone in the next room to do it for me !
The quilt needs to be a lighter weight as every time I’ve stayed even in winter the room is hot
- Andrew (10/5): Will use each time working in deside - Never any issues with this accommodation. Spotless and very nice room
- Jamie (10/5): Outstanding - Nice lovely room and nice location
Staff more than helpful
- MrAA Clarke (10/5): Beautiful place to stop - Fabulous place to stop very clean beds bedding when you opened the front door it smelt of cleanliness bathroom clean reception friendly cafe very good easy to get about if you go out overall would recommend to stop
- pamela (10/5): Lovely stay - Very helpful at accomodating our arrival time and organising a taxi to collect us for our evening meal in Chester. Lovely breakfast onsite, and will definitely be going back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): lovely stay - very friendly owners/ receptionist, clean and well maintained rooms. the shower was nice and hot and powerful. good location to travel from. We didn't have a breakfast due to the time we needed to leave but after speaking to others staying here the breakfast was apparently really nice and a good size. would stay again and would recommend it to others
- Sharon (8/5): Lovely accommodation Great location - Great modern accommodation
Spacious sleeping area
Large ensuite with double walk jn shower
Lovely on site cafe for breakfast
Friendly and welcoming
- Eirion (6/5): 1night stay 24th Oct 2021 - When the owner tells you with arrogance that i have received a text and an email from Hotel.com with the entrance keycode when i obviously have not because i would not have tried to call him unsuccessfully on numerous times during the 2 days prior to staying otherwise is Not a good start. I had to call the "only in an emergency" number in the end to get hold of someone. Other than this the room was big the king size bed was lovely, the shower was modern and worked well. Nice tv, good tea making facilities. Although is was not the cleanest room and seeing hairs in the bathroom on arrival is never a nice sight. Was also looking forward to the much praised breakfast in the adjacent cafe, only to find out after arriving that it is closed on Mondays!
- Shauna (10/5): - Really impressed with our cottage stay. The cleanliness of it was faultless and just an overall, lovely weekend.
Will definitely be returning.
Thanks so much for having us.
- Sarah (2/5): Do not stay in the mews - Stayed one night in the Hayloft 18th Sep 2021 they didn’t mention when they called to confirm our booking on the day that the toilet was leaking and the carpet outside was soaked, so keep your shoes on if you need to use the bathroom. There was no one onsite when we arrived or left. Waited two weeks for an answer from Peter (which never came) he obviously doesn’t care about customer service. Also found out via their Facebook page that someone who stayed there three days before us, had reported the same problem to Peter.
- Michael (10/5): - Excellently finished
- Chris (10/5): Comfortable and convenient - Comfortable stay and great breakfast in the Foxes café.
Convenient for Cheshire Oaks and Chester Zoo
- Kate (10/5): Wonderful stay at a beautiful place - We had a lovely time staying at Oakwood Farm mews. The room was spotless & beautiful. We loved the shower & the general comfort of the room.
The service was great, sending emails with key codes etc. There was no stress. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you
- michael (10/5): Highly recommended - Very clean, modern and spacious accommodation.
Conveniently located for Chester and Cheshire Oaks.
Dog friendly.
- Andrew (8/5): Very nice stay - Stayed for work, very clean has everything i needed
- Graeme (10/5): Excellent - This was ideal accommodation as it is like a motel- you can park outside your room and you have your own door. Contactless entry as we were emailed details of key to room. Nice accommodation in excellent condition. We will consider using it in future as it is dog friendly. It has a cafe on site but that was not open while we visited. It has a small campsite too so we may return with our tent.
