Guest Reviews
- Robin (7/5): Would stay again - perhaps a different room - Garden, Helena and Diego, breakfast, breezy verandah and beautifully quiet. Felt safe. Bedroom smelt very musty. Had to have noisy aircon on all night, fridge froze everything and no where to put belongings except cupboard which was very dank.

- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - I very much enjoyed my stay at Casa Caminho do Corcovado. Helena is a lovely host and her home is a beautiful and tranquil place to escape the sometimes intense energy of the city. The breakfasts she made were very tasty and I also recommend Diogo’s tour of the town. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Rio and I learned a lot from him.
To find the entrance to Casa Caminho, you have to cross the tram tracks. It is a steep climb from the station but Uber taxis are easy to use and there always seems to be one close by.
I am glad I stayed at Casa Caminho do Corcovado. It was a great introduction to my ongoing travels in South America!
- Chloe (10/5): Exceptional - Helena was very nice. We had a great stay. Her house is amazing!!
- Tamar (10/5): Hidden gem in the green oasis of Rio with a spectacular view! - -such a beautiful hidden gem in the city, an oasis of silence and a spectacular view both day and night
-the garden and the house are beautiful
-Helena is very friendly and very welcoming
-the breakfast was amazing!! I would recommend booking it
-Location is very central, easy to get anywhere -nothing :)
- Anthony (10/5): family run and very friendly personable people. A home away from home - The breakfast was fresh, healthy and delicious. Diogo was an excellent guide, he was a great historian of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil in general, and he ensured I was very comfortable.
- Nainoa (10/5): The best in Rio! - Everything about this property is a dream! I feel so lucky that I happened to stumble upon this place at the last minute, it’s truly magical. Pictures do not do it justice!! I was worried coming to Rio alone not knowing where to stay and coming here as my first stop started my trip on the best note. The bungalow and house is decorated tastefully and the property feels tucked away in the jungle despite being so close to Rio. But the best part of my whole stay is Helena the host, she is the sweetest and made me feel so at home like the Brazilian grandmother I never had. Thank you thank you!! Nothing, the location is bit off the main road but I had no problem with uber or taxis
- Alice (10/5): A wonderful experiwnce - Meeting Helena and Diogo was a treat. Their home is stunning, so welcoming and peaceful within nature. Our chalet was separate from the house and like a little retreat. Order Helena's delicious breakfast, you won't regret it! Thank you so much for such a unique stay xxx Everything was perfect. A pleasure to stay at Casa Caminho x
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Tato (9/5): Great location, beautiful property and friendly service. I recommend it! -
- Mery (9/5): Superb - Fantastic location. Cozy, charming comfortable house. The breakfast was plenty and fresh.
- Anjali (10/5): Would love to return and in the meantime will recommend this property to all friends and family - Our hosts Helena and Diogo were wonderful kind caring and helpful . We felt welcome, we felt at home and we felt safe. Our bedroom was spacious as was our bathroom. We had access to the first floor of the house so we didn’t feel confined. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful Enjoyed the property however as other reviewers have mentioned it is on top of a very steep hill. The road up to the property is partially cobblestone and partially pavement.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucia (10/5): 100% recommended!!! Loved 🥰 - We LOVED Casa Caminho do Corcovado 💙
The location is perfect, uphill the Corcovado station
The house is beautiful, spacious, decorated with taste and care
The hostess Helena is lovely, sweet, efficient and caring
Breakfast is plenty, fresh and delicious
We would come back just to spend more time in this accommodation! We loved everything
- Shariat (6/5): Pleasant - It was very fantastic and high sightseeing place Behavior, polucy, view and clean and near to metro estação
- Jb (10/5): Exceptional - The breakfast is not like any other. It is a breakfast for a "king". I felt I was treated like a royal family. Anybody will certainly enjoy it and appreciate what Helena is doing.
- Km (10/5): Perfect location! Best and most responsive host! Cute property. - The breakfast was above and beyond what we expected. Our fabulous host made delicious eggs and the coffee, fruit, and pastries were a fabulous start to our day. Our host made certain we had all the information needed to enjoy our day. We met amazing guests from Belgium during our stay and they taught us all about beer glass etiquette 😂 Diogo was about the kindest, most supportive host you could ask for and the location is convenient to the Christ the Redeemer train station, walk 3 minutes. You can even see the statue from the property. Our host also not only set up our 4am ride to the airport, he woke up with us to make sure we got off ok, and did the same the day prior for our daughter. We loved his friendly dog Jeorge. ♥️ Loved everything but could be tough if you have a difficult time walking as it’s at the top of a hill.
- Km (10/5): Fabulous, quaint, convenient and would highly recommend. The host is what really made it! - The host was amazing!!! And we loved the location. Breakfast was well beyond continental. It was a spectacular breakfast allowing us to start our day. We met another lovely couple from Belgium. Our host gave us fabulous tips for navigating the area. Our daughter and her beau had a very early flight and he arranged transportation and woke with them at 4am to see all went smooth, and then did the same for me and my husband the next day.
Such a convenient location to go up the Christ the Redeemer tram one block away. Also, you can see the statue from our hotel in the front yard. Also saw Toucans right on the same street. Very little that wasn't wonderful, but if you have problems walking up hills or stairs this may not be the place for you.
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional - It is near the rail line for Tijuca in a reserve close to the redeemer. Great breakfast, Helena was friendly and accommodating. We were given a personal tour - it was so good to see the city that way. The monkeys were swinging around having fun with the dog. Peaceful and safe.
I recommend it 100% The hills are always a small challenge yet it is worth going back. The lock on the door entrance needs to be fixed.
- Daphna (9/5): Beatiful spacious house - The house is beautiful and the owner was very welcome warm and generous The location is far from the center
- David (10/5): Beautiful stay with Helena. - Excellent location to visit Christ the Redeemer, less than 10 min walk. Helena gave us dinner suggestions, with in walking distance. Breakfast was plentiful and has something for everyone. The bungalow was quiet, bed and linens were great. Plenty of hot water. Property is beautiful, like staying in a garden.
- Joseph (10/5): A beautiful place in Rio - Helena and Diogo do their very best to make your stay in Rio a great one. I loved the old house with the jungle setting and the views of the valley with beautiful flowers, birds and monkeys and of course their lovely dog, George. Breakfast is big and varied and you will never go hungry. It is a great place to stay if you want to be away from the tourist crowds and stay in a safe and secure area but only a short drive away to the main places such as Copacabana and Ipanema etc. It's up a steep hill so if you want to walk back it can be a bit of a challenge especially in the heat but there are plenty of ubers and taxis that will take you straight to the front gate.
- Bailey (10/5): Exceptional - We had an amazing trip staying at Casa Caminho do Corcovado! Helen went above and beyond for us, she was extremely helpful and kind. The breakfast prepared by Helen was also very tasty and would recommend it. Overall, I would come back & recommended this place fo my friends!
- Alia (9/5): Beautifully comfortable and homey. Great tour. - The property was very comfortable, rustic and homely with a great central location. Very close to Christ the redeemer. The best part of the stay we’re the hosts who attended to any and all queries promptly and arranged a lovely driving tour of Rio sites which was very useful if you have short time. In the city. The location was quite high up a steep hill. It’s ok if you can walk, but not all taxi/Uber go all the way up!
- Johannes (10/5): Exceptional - It's a lovely house, with a beautiful view, I loved the garden too! The hosts Helena and Diogo are so sweet and made me feel warm and welcome. The breakfast was always thoughtfully prepared. Thank you for making my stay such a wonderful experience! I highly recommend Casa Caminho do Corcovado!
- Walker (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - We arrived very late in pitch black darkness after a long day of travel, but the warmth and kindness we were greeted with made us feel like we came home!
- Tara (10/5): Gorgeous place! - Super gorgeous place, with amazing views and sounds of the surrounding jungle. Also a good location, just a bit of a hill to drive up initially. The breakfast is really good and has a lot of options. Both Helena and Diogo were very friendly and helpful. I would definetely stay in this hotel again! The only thing that was missing for me, was a mosquito net. We got bitten a lot (even though the anti-bug spray) and if you are familiar with brazil - those bites do itch for a long time and are quite big. If it is possible I would suggest adding mosquito nets over the beds.
Overall the eco and sustainability of the hotel is great, but two slight points would make it even better: by replacing the single use plastics in the bathroom (e.g. with a larger soap dispenser attached to the wall), and installing a water filter so tap water can be drank (as done in some houses in Sao Paulo/Rio); to reduce the singe use plastic bottles needed.
- Borjana (10/5): Outstanding - Kind hosts, amazing location, you feel like you’re in the jungle but still very close to all the important attractions, safe, quiet at night. Helena even prepared breakfast for us to go because we had an early flight to catch. Recommended! Nothing!
- Cid (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tamar (8/5): Nice location and a lovely place to stay hosted by fantastic people. - Location was really good and close to Christ the Redeemer. Lots of small places to eat in walking distance too. Not much really. The shower was pretty cold but it’s solar powered and it wasn’t sunny when we stayed.
- Siobhan (10/5): Enchanting stay with wonderful hosts surrounded by the beauty of nature - The location of Casa Caminho do Corcovado is stunningly beautiful. You are surrounded by the lush nature of the Tijuca National Park, which includes all kinds of gorgeous plants, tropical birds and playful monkeys! We stayed in the chalet which, while close to the main house, insured privacy and seclusion. We felt we were in the midst of a tropical paradise.
We cannot say enough about our wonderful hosts. Each morning, Helena greeted us with a delicious breakfast that included mango, bananas and papaya fruit, freshly squeezed juices, bread, meats and cheeses, and eggs made to order. Helena also baked a different kind of cake for us each morning. The passion fruit cake was our favorite. Helena could not have been more attentive or helpful. She always made herself available to answer our questions and offer recommendations but she was never intrusive.
Diogo was also our host. He took us to and from the airport and we hired him to take us on a day tour of Rio. Our tour involved driving through Rio visiting highlights and learning interesting facts about the attractions and neighborhoods of this beautiful city. At the end of the tour, Diogo dropped us off at Sugar Loaf mountain in perfect time for us to go up and see the sunset and then enjoy a delicious dinner at a lovely coastal restaurant. Diogo's tour gave us an excellent sense of the geography of the city and helped us navigate our way around, as we chose to use public transit when possible. We would highly recommend Diogo’s tour to anyone visiting Rio.
We cannot imagine having stayed in a more enchanting bed and breakfast than Casa Caminho do Corovado. We will never forget the incredible view and the kindness of our wonderful hosts. Muito obrigada! Everything was wonderful. Since we like walking, we didn't mind navigating some of the steep streets and cut-through stairs nearby the property. However, for those that might, these can easily be avoided by taking Uber, which we found to be cheap and reliable in Rio.
