- Orna (10/5): Wonderfull place - The location was 5 min from Alexandra, in a vineyard. The room was clean and we were in top of the hill where the vineyard was just outside the windows. The owner were very hospitality. Breakfast was beyond our expectations. We tasted the wine. Got explains of the festival trips and roads after we leave. We were invited to the salon and dinning room. None
- Ailsa (10/5): Exceptional - Very quiet and peaceful excellent breakfast and hosts were very accommodating highly recommend a stay at hawkdun . Can’t fault

- Kim (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely home. Loved the breakfast.
- Amelia (9/5): Superb -
- Barbara (10/5): A B&B to be recommended!😀 - Everything was 😊. We loved the accommodation very much and thoroughly enjoyed sleeping within a vineyard. In the evening we had a great Pinot noir from the host’s vineyard. The breakfast had a lot of choice and many things were homemade. To hear bellbirds was also special.
- Lene (10/5): Exceptional - Best place ever 😊
- Jessica (8/5): Beautiful property, lovely hosts, would definitely stay again and recommend! - Beautiful, central location, lovely facilities, clean, tidy Expectations for second bed included with the booking was not met.
- Christina (10/5): Exceptional - John and Suzanne are amazing hosts. The accommodation is super cute and gives you a very warm feeling. Perfect for relaxing days in the region.
- Aleksandra (10/5): Beautiful and warm, with lovely people behind this vineyard. - Everything was just perfect. It’s beautiful, warm, and clean. From the start, Suzanne and John warmly welcome you and make your stay even better. Breakfast was delicious. Here’s a tip: book for more than one night, as you’ll be sad when leaving. I’m so happy that we found this place.
- Morgan (10/5): Warm, friendly and like staying with family not hosts - The couple were warm and welcoming, as were the fur babies. We felt like we were at home away from home. Like visiting family instead of visiting guests. N/A
- Janice (9/5): Superb -
- Gerry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (10/5): Wonderful accommodation - The hosts were fantastic I liked everything
- Alexander (10/5): Lifesavers - We booked this place as a mini break after a long period on the road camping in a tiny tent. We were more than satisfied with all the amenities, and wonderful wine that we were recommended with our takeaway dinner and our breakfast in the morning (wine with the dinner not the breakfast!). However, what really made this stay exceptional was the help offered when our rental car broke. We personally know very little about cars, but our hosts were quick to diagnose the issue, and helped with calling the rental company and finding a mechanic - basically did everything! Made for a far less stressful experience than it definitely would've been. We appreciate the help so much, as the hosts definitely went out of their way to help us, taking a lot of time out of their day. Thanks again!
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional - I enjoyed every minute of my stay with Suzanne and John. They were friendly, kind and provided excellent accommodation and a first class central otago experience. I was very appreciative of their warm friendship, and high standard of hospitality.
- Barry (9/5): Superb -
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ryosuke (10/5): Wonderful encounter - John and Suzanne are incredibly nice, and we enjoyed our stay thanks to their exceptional hospitality.
We had a dinner with other guests, and they welcomed us altogether.
Not to mention wine was great, food from John’s vegetable yard, and prepared by Suzanne was the best cuisine we ever had in New Zealand.
The property has a wonderful view, and there are chairs and tables outside so that guests can spend their relaxing time there too.
- Judith (10/5): Exceptional - Our room was in a gorgeous location, overlooking a sunny vineyard, just a short drive to the centre of Alexandra. Breakfast was excellent, but what was really outstanding was the dinner prepared by our hostess, featuring a lot of produce from their own extensive vegetable garden. It was definitely one of the best meals we have ever had in New Zealand! Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay another night.
- Cameron (10/5): Amazing stay with amazing hosts. Thanks John and Suzanne! -
- Odd (10/5): An amazing stay at Hawkdun Rise - John&Suzanne are two wonderful people, so warm and welcoming. It was so nice to spend a night at their amazing property!
They put up the Norwegian flag at their front gate, just for me, the bed was super comfortable, the breakfast was amazing - I could just go on…!
Highly recommended!!! Nothing
- Ian (10/5): Great hosts and wonderful food (and wine) - We very much enjoyed our stay. Great hosts, lovely food, and the wine was excellent. Our evening meals were especially good with fresh vegetables we helped to select from the garden prepared to perfection. We were lucky enough to eat outdoors overlooking the vines. A fantastic experience.
- Murray (10/5): A very accommodating and pleasant couple who made sure we had everything we needed - The location on a small vineyard Nothing
- Tania (10/5): Beautiful and quiet and would definitely stay again - Beautiful location
Fruit trees, vegetable garden

- Desmond (9/5): Superb - The friendly welcome and the lovely breakfast The table between the 2 chairs was a little to small to put a plate of biscuits and wine on

- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - What an excellent place to stay. We could have been in Tuscany...actually better than Tuscany.
Wonderful breakfast and hosts. Perfect stay
- Gabriella (10/5): Fantastic stay in welcoming, luxury home - Truly lovely experience - staying at the Vineyard feels like a real treat. The hosts are lovely and welcoming and we enjoyed chatting to them and the other guests, the location and room are beautiful, and the breakfast was great (as was the wine!). We even got to pick our own raspberries for breakfast! We would recommend this place to anyone at all in the area.
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional - lovely peaceful environment amongst the grape vines
- Chris (10/5): Our stay at Hawkdun Rise was the highlight of our two weeks in the beautiful South Island of NZ. - Hawkdun Rise is located on the outskirts of Alexandra a quaint village with a beautiful river running through the middle. however, Suzanne and John directed us to the historical village of Clyde and later Cromwell enroute to Queenstown. These villages are a must see with excellent restaurants, bars and history aplenty. Our visit would only have been improved by staying a night or two extra.
- Les (6/5): Pleasant -
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jerome (9/5): Superb -
- Grace (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): Overnight in paradise - Hard to know where to start, just wonderful. Location is stunning, Suzanne and John are fantastic hosts, dinner was gorgeous, and needless to say the wine was delicious 🍷🍷😋😋 There is absolutely nothing not to like at Hawkdun
- Lorraine (10/5): We arrived as guests and left as friends. - perfect location. John &Suzanne are warm welcoming hosts. We had excellent breakfasts and dinner. nothing!
- Yvonne (10/5): Great we will be back - Suzanne & John were great hosts. We loved staying with them and would recommend it to other people. We will be back next year. Nothing
- John (9/5): Pleasant and quiet location - We would like to spend another visit at the property in the future
- Zhi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (10/5): Idyllic stay - Extremely pleasant stay. Lovely location quit .
Great breakfast.
- Paul (6/5): Room for improvement - Beautiful setting and friendly welcoming hosts, however the accommodation wasn't up to the standard we had experienced at other similar bed and breakfasts. There was a lot of personal items in the fridge and pantry and the breakfast was a help yourself to what was there rather than a personal service. The yoghurt didn't turn up in the morning as promised either, so rather disappointed with this aspect. We did enjoy a glass of wine on arrival and met other guests which was nice.
- Sharon (10/5): Holiday accommodation - Lovely vineyard setting. Owners very friendly and helpful. Lovely bottle of wine. Lots of helpful advise on our onwards travels through New Zealand.
- Raghu (8/5): nice and clean place - Well run family out fit. A bit remote but classy. Excellent break fast included. Can be pricy for many
