Guest Reviews
- John (4/5): - The beds are terrible bare springs with a piece of fabric over them absolutely no padding at all.
Will not stay there again
- Steven (4/5): Clean but cold and noisy - No hot water, the water never got warm in the shower. Inconvenienced the front desk dude when we rolled in at 7:30pm. He was upset that he had to come out from behind the curtain to check us in. Clean room. Heard all the outside traffic throughout the night and heard our neighbors next door clearly through the wall talking about their trip.
- Wesley (6/5): good for a basic room - rooms was physically clean, yet quite musty and smelled a bit of mildew, mattresses quite old, springy, and indented bathroom was clean but water pressure was quite poor and shower drain was very slow and backed up almost to flooding over
- Donna (10/5): - Very easy and efficient check in. Room clean. Everything needed after a long day.
- Tiffany (10/5): - Property recently updated
- Cynthia (8/5): - This motel was extremely convenient. Lovely town. Motel was clean, staff friendly, amenities adequate. It IS located in a fairly busy area so vehicle noise is ever present but that does not bother me.
- Holly (10/5): - I appreciated that there was a good sized fridge/freezer and microwave in the room. Other fellow travelers staying there were quiet. Desk attendant was polite and professional. We booked this room in a pinch, and we were very happy with our stay! We will definitely return ❣️
- John (6/5): - Nice bathroom. Bed needs replacement. Not as noisy as the other budget motel.
- Gordon (8/5): - Didn't look around area. TV didn't work. Shower was great. Remodel was nice. Room clean, towels, etc. clean, thick, bed comfortable.
- Alastair (2/5): - If you're traveling from far away, don't stay here. They won't let you check in, they don't answer their phone, they don't return your calls, they have a strict no refunds policy clearly displayed in their lobby on a sign, and their staff are rude if you ask them for help. I paid $150 to sleep in my car. Terrible experience.
Here's what happened: I knew I was going to arrive past midnight, so I called them at 8:30 PM to ask if there would be someone to check me in. They didn't answer their phone, and instead I left a message. The machine said they'd call me back soon. I called them again at 9 PM when I received no response, again, same result with the machine answering the call promising a call back.
We ended up driving and arriving after midnight. When we arrived, we pressed the call bell to bring an attendant to the desk during overnight hours. No one came, we tried calling the bell a few times, but nothing worked.
We ended up sleeping in our car hoping that maybe a staff member would be around at 6 or 7 AM, and we could still get the key until our checkout time at 11 AM. No staff showed up until 10 AM.
When we asked the guy for the key, he said "our website says check-in ends at 10 PM" and was very rude about it, not friendly at all. I searched the website carefully, it doesn't say this anywhere. On top of that, the email from Expedia says checkin after 3 PM, that's all.
Furthermore, even if it was true, why didn't we get called back when I called at 8:30 PM and 9?
- Randy (10/5): Good - Not fancy, But was everything I needed.
- Sandra (10/5): - Very accommodating staff
- Steve (6/5): - Room 1
The room was nicely remodeled, but the shower light did not work at all,the toilet paper holder that was mounted on the wall was gone and the shower head pipe was very loose and there is no air-conditioning but the fridge was very cold.nice sized tv
- Douglas (4/5): Sleep on the Floor!! - There was no vending machines for drinks , the bed squeaked every time you rolled over.
- Fabiola (4/5): - I was awoken at 1 am with loud moaning, j was so scared Sounded like someone was being muffled in the next door . After awhile i could hear other people . Before i could call the front desk, my husband told me it sounded like someone with special needs . The noise started up again around 5 am and we checked out at 8 am since we couldnt sleep anymore .
- Russ (4/5): - If you like hotels that are from the 70's this is for you. I believe the mattress was original. Was off Hyw 101 and very noisy. Paid way too much for the unsatisfactory room. Won't go back!
- Alishia (6/5): - Beds were horrible and uncomfortable
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice rooms - The rooms were just fine and everything was clean and smelled clean! The front room has good curtains, but the back room has none. That is my only issue. Friendly check in and a good run motel!!!
- Wayne (8/5): - All good
- Barrett (10/5): - very nice at check in and worked well with staff throughout 4 day stay. parking area is small but fine for regular cars. Happened to need my truck this trip but they made that as convenient as possible for me here as well.
- Wendy (8/5): - The bed was un
- jim (2/5): Get what you pay for - Filthy floor, bed was incredibly loud with very noisy springs, internet slow, tv very intermittent and hard to use.
- Helen (4/5): - Mould smell
- Pat L (8/5): Southsider hotel - Older hotel, but extremely clean. Very impressed with cleanliness. Great for a one night stay, would definitely stay again.
- Cheryl (6/5): - It was very clean. The motel is old and had some updates done, but the furniture was in very shaky shape and needs to be replaced. Bed and pillows weren't terribly uncomfoetable, but not up to our usual standards. In a rather run down area, but on a holiday weekend, we were glad to get a place to stay. Charged way too much for the kind of room we got. One outlet in the bedroom wasn't working.
- Rick (8/5): - Cool staff
Good location
- Conny (10/5): - The gentleman at check-in was very nice. The room was comfortable, bathroom nice with a large shower, and the room had a table and chairs, refrigerator and microwave.
- Darryl (8/5): - Good location Nice guy on check in
Everything you need for a overnight stay
Good beds good shower
Nice Thanks
- Dwight (10/5): - Great stay. Small hotel. Close to a couple places to eat and 2 big grocery stores.
- vivian (8/5): - It's good for one night stay.
- David A (10/5): - Everything went well!
- Thomas (2/5): Stay Away! - TV did not work. Bathroom light heater did not work. Not enough parking spots. Right next to a very busy street and it's a good thing I'm a heavy sleeper.
- Halsey (8/5): - Very basic affordable clean little motel in convenient central location. Nice staff.
- Marcus (8/5): - Very clean
- Jonathan (6/5): - Small inexpensive motel. Walls are paper thin. Can hear everything from adjacent rooms from a whispering conversation to a drunk couple arguing all night. Traffic is noisy from street outside. Nice bathroom. Need a car to get to any good spots in town.
- Sandra (10/5): - Convenient location, reasonable price
- Karmon (8/5): - Small rooms
- Kathy (6/5): - Good
- DeVonna (6/5): - Loved the price. The room was nice, mostly remodeled...just a few quirks. The front desk person was pleasant. If you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. There's a busy road right in front.
- Victor (10/5): - The boss is awesome.
- a (10/5): - N8ce place
- Steven (10/5): - Clean and quiet.
- KEITH (10/5): - Downtown
- Scott P (10/5): Road trippin - This is a great little hotel at a very affordable price. The room was clean and had a nice TV, fridge and microwave. Walking distance to places to eat. The guy that checked me in was great and very welcoming. Nothing bad to say!
- John (6/5): No hot water for shower. - TV didn't work and switched rooms.Bed was not very comfortable. Hot water did not work in shower when I got up next morning.
- joe (2/5): - I booked online. Not even 20 min later I get there. To find out they want 100 dollars cash deposit. Well the guy at counter was very blah. Wasn't listening to me. Was very rude. I said I'm gonna have to cancel the rez. He said I had to get a hold of website . Website says to contact office at hotel. There is no way to cancel. There trying to collect off my card. Total rip off. Nowhere does it say cash deposit on the website. Stay away. Garbage out.
- james (4/5): - The hotel was neat and clean on the outside and also on the inside, but my toilet was not bolted to the floor. It also needed a flapper valve so it ran all night when I went to take a shower in the morning. The water was lukewarm at beat. The Internet worked well and they had a large number of television stations to choose from.
- Gregory (10/5): - Cheap and easy. Relatively clean and quiet. Street noise is tough. Fan in bathroom is not powerful so surfaces stay very damp.
- scott (4/5): - There was a pubic hair on my pillow another on the sink and i think the sheets and towels had been used.
- Craig (4/5): - Terrible checkin! Room fine for old facility. Working off a laptop, software woefully not proper for need. Felt sorry for person who, per her words, just a room service person filling in...20 minutes plus to get checked in - bad!
- Denis (4/5): You get what you pay for - The motel is dated but in good repair with nice room amenities (coffee, fridge, microwave, soap, shampoo, lotion). Unfortunately, they couldn't find my reservation and had to start from scratch which took some time. Then after I had been assigned a room the gal asked me to give her 10 minutes because she still had to mop it. This was about 5:30PM! I'm happy she was honest about it needing to be mopped instead of leaving it dirty but you would think that would have been accomplished much earlier.
The location isn't the greatest as there were several homeless in the area and a couple of the tenants were trashed and noisy. At one point there was yelling in the parking lot at one of the occupant's rooms accusing them of stealing and saying how they were going to smash their face, kill them etc and using the N word repeatedly.
I will never stay here again and I feel sorry for the staff who have to stay here and try to maintain the property.
- Kathy (6/5): - The area a lil rough
- Ashley (10/5): - Great little motel, the guy at the front desk was very helpful and pleasant. The people next to us were very loud and aggressive but besides that the beds were comfortable and room was clean.
- Kimberly (4/5): - Clean, loud area/ cops at midnight.
- Sadhana Rani (6/5): - No hot water, no heat. The place was super cold through out the night. Stains in the comforter.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Cheap but overpriced - Noisy mattress, towels like rags, no toilet paper holder, bathroom door sticks halfway open, heat control hard to set, toilet doesn't flush well, coffee machine hard to work.
- Brian (8/5): Bang for the Buck - great value, friendly staff, definitely budget-minded but not "cheap" in any way. more than what you'd expect for the price point. near a busy road in downtown Coos Bay, so expect traffic sounds, etc., but for those out exploring most of the day, it's not a big deal. close to shopping (fred meyer and safeway just a couple of blocks away), restaurants, fast food, and anything else your heart might desire while in town.
- Chris (10/5): - Really nice rooms, despite the dodgy surroundings. Slept great w/ a white noise device.
- Rick (8/5): - Parking area small for full size pickup
- Robert (8/5): - Rm 10, Queen bed mattress broken down, could see two depressions one on each side, and there were cigarette burns on the comforter, floor could use a good mopping, otherwise a good room and value for the price. Nice new shower update!!
- Celestine (6/5): - Old
- David (10/5): - Clean and well ventilated rooms. Good selection of movie channels. Excellent value.
- Jerry (7/5): Good -
- KELSEY (10/5): - Easy to find, cheap and clean. Rooms are older but great for the price. Everything needed for a quick stay
- Smadar (8/5): - What a pleasant surprise! While the motel is surrounded by industrial landscape, it's 3 minutes drive from Coos's lovely downtown. It's located in quite a noisy intersection, but the noise subsided completely around 9 pm. There was no need for a/c because of the cool weather. The fan did the job. GREAT find for the price. Receptionist a bit grumpy, but efficient.
- Denise (10/5): - Spent one night here. The bed was comfortable and we had everything we needed.
- Randy (8/5): - Other than the person living in their car outside my door, it was Ok I think I had semi permanent residences next door as there was a lot of in and out for awhile
Room was clean. Suited my needs as a quick night to sleep.
- Cordelia (2/5): - For the overnight price we paid we were expecting something a little more accommodating. From the online pictures, it appears much bigger but in reality it’s really small and very old. The area is right in the middle of a trucking junction so there’s lots and lots of huge logging trucks as well as loud pickups. The front desk guy acts like he’s doing you a favor just showing up. He was surly and incredibly unfriendly. I paid online so figured that was that but 2 days later there was an additional thirty three dollar charge on my card. Huh? What for? We slept, had our lousy morning coffee and left. Period. No explanation for that charge. I think they resent giving the rooms for a low price and try to recoup their losses by tacking bogus mystery fee. I’m recommendation—do NOT stay at this horrible motel unless it’s the only room left and you just need to get some shuteye. Otherwise, sleep in your car.
- Jack (10/5): - Hum
- John (8/5): - The property is a little old and worn down, and lacks amenities. That being said, the beds were clean and comfortable. Overall it was a good value for the price.
- Romano (10/5): - Everything was fine.
- Sarah (10/5): - After reading some of the reviews, I had a few concerns prior to arriving at the location. Let me tell you, any of the negative reviews are false and obviously rated by entitled Karen's. Check in was a breeze, yes I had to press a button but they were there promptly with in seconds to get us checked in. The guy running the place was AWESOME! Very attentive and had a great personality. The rooms including bedding was VERY clean! The motel is off of a busy street, but there was literally no road noise in side our room. We stayed a total of 4 days and 3 nights here. There is a ton of things you can literally walk to with in a matter of minutes or with the convenience of the busy main street you can drive anywhere with in minutes. This location was very convenient! We will definitely stay again when we come back to visit. We were more than pleased with our stay. Those who want to complain about every little thing, go spend big bucks at a 5 star! I was more pleased with our stay here at Southside, than I have been at bigger and way more expensive hotels!
- Oshins (1/5): DO NOT GO HERE. RUDE COSTUMER SERVICE AND ANTS! - I typically don't leave review on places but this situation was so bad I hope I can warn any others renting here. The Owner/Manager was incredibly rude to me and my partner. When we woke up, ants were covering the doorframe to the bathroom. I tried to go to the office as soon as I noticed this but it was before the office opened, so I stayed until it opened to talk to the owner/manager to bring up this problem. I showed him the ants and all he said was "thanks for telling me". Not even an apology. I then asked if I can have a discount on the room since their was so many ants my partner stepped in them before noticing them. He then laughed at me and said "For ants? No" then started to walk away. I followed him asking the reasoning and further questions, he then said "No Refunds" in which I responded with "this seems like an extenuating circumstance" he then laughed again at me and mocked me saying "Ants are an extenuating circumstance? Have a good day" then left. I would very much recommend not booking here and choosing another place for a little bit more money.
- Allan (6/5): - For the area and price it’s a one nighter on the way to somewhere else.
- Greg (8/5): - It’s an older model that has been updated and was exactly what I needed.
- Gene (10/5): - The room was clean, floor not so much
Bed was noisy and kinda lumpy. Derek the manager, was friendly and helpful.
- Jimmy (2/5): Pilfered Belongings - Was put in a room went out to eat and do some gambling came back somebody else was in the room I was rented. My belongings were gone through and put in a trash bag. The room was clean butt the bedding not so much. Was given another room and handed my belongings.. The whole situation was not addressed properly. The room had just been updated so it looked new.
- Pamela (3/5): Would NOT stay again - The check in fellow was friendly. The room had a small table with 2 chairs which was nice. The inside of the door was filthy BUT the worst was when I turned down the bedding there was a stain on the top sheet. The office was closed so we unmade the bed and put the stained part on the other end. At 9:30 the next day the office was still closed. I left a note but got no reply. It was the most expensive motel we've booked and the worst! Clean sheets!!!
- Gavin (8/5): Very good -
- Melinda (10/5): - We stayed in room #4 and looks like it had been remodel beautifully done! It has all the immendities like fridge, coffee pot and microwave although didn't notice a hair dryer. They also provided a fan and loved how the bathroom window open and front window to get food air flow. Also had a small closet to hang clothes up. Nice furniture bed a little hard for me but I like softer beds. I will definitely stay there again as price was also very reasonable!
- Jake (10/5): - Derek was very cool and very helpful. Cars are super loud on the main thoroughfare.
- Zachary (8/5): - Updated bathrooms friendly staff
- Dean (4/5): Get what you pay for - Clean, very outdated. When we checked in there was a note that stated sorry we are out of coffee. Then we noticed no soap at all. Very loud area from the highway.
- fred (8/5): great value for price. - This hotel gave good value for their price. it had a walk in show (looked like new tile). End tables on both side of bed. mini refrigerator had bigger freezer compartment. all in all great value for price.
- Dan (10/5): - An older Motel that has been well maintained. The rooms are clean and have more than other small properties with the use of a small Fridge, microwave, coffee pot, and cable TV.
- Shirley (7/5): We opted for cheap and basic and received it. - No breakfast was promised, none was offered. Sink stopper to work.
- Adam (4/5): Disappointing -
- Tyler (1/5): Don’t stay. Spend the extra money on a different establishment. Owner/manager is so rude. - Nothing. Owner was incredibly rude. The room was so dirty and the owner refuses to take accountability for anything. When I brought up the things that were gross in the room, he called me a liar (I have photos). He said we are bulling and harassing, but all we did was ask for a refund (for the 2 nights I left early) and left bad reviews. That’s it. I stayed 1 night out of the 3 and booked a Motel 6 room instead. He said the state of the room was “Fine.” But in my opinion, if he thinks THIS was fine for a room that is supposed to be cleaned after every guest, I don’t even want to know what he thinks dirty looks like.
- Aaron (10/5): - Affordable and very clean, well kept. Non-smoking rule is enforced as I detected no smell in the room (there are signs to the effect of a strict ban.). Located very close to restaurants and commercial district.
- Linda (1/5): Don't go there - It had a bed Walked in, the mirror was dirty, one towel in the bathroom that has a big stain on it. No fridge or microwave, no coffee pot just 2 paper cups.
I went to the office to see if i could get another room but it was even worse. Scary people around. Clerk said they can't live up to what booking said because they don't know what they tell us.
- Susanne (10/5): - Just outside of town but therefore quiet. Very comfortable beds.
- Marla (2/5): Unpleasant - Location easy to find Dead fly inside our bed, several dead flies in our room, several live flies in our room, bed hard as a rock, noisy, carpet dirty, broken light hanging over table, out of coffee in our room, and the smell of marijuana.
- Katrina (2/5): Won’t stay here again - Totally creepy rooms - dirty, towel was stained. Was glad we were staying only for a night. Noisy. Very basic amenities.
- Seagrave (9/5): Superb - That it had the cheapest rate for that night. No breakfast
- Leisner (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jeri (6/5): - If you need a last minute place to stay this will sufíce. There were 4 of us in our party and we had 3 towels for 2 days. There are signs posted everywhere no smoking within 10 feet of the doors and the guy in the room next to us kept going to his truck to "smoke". Overall it served it's purpose.
- john (8/5): - See above
- Miller (5/5): Passable - Quaint. Close to shopping. Parking facilities are terrible. I had a guest and they had to park a long ways away. Other than that it was good. I'll go back.
- Jaimie (10/5): - Kinda noisy but room is good
