- louisa (10/5): Quiet, comfy and spotlessly clean rooms topped off with the most delicious Sunday lunch ever! - Welcoming and the best Sunday lunch I have ever eaten. Inside was spotless but the outside back garden felt like it needed a good power wash - I am sure country folk wouldn’t even have noticed. But for this sensitive Londoner it felt a little too rural.

Won’t return - Beautiful house and garden, nice bedrooms, good restaurant Hidden and incorrect additional charge despite having emailed us confirmation of no additional charges for checking in at 2pm they tried to charge another £15. They told us there was no charge for a cup of tea we had in the garden then when challenged about charge for early check in they said it was an error but were charging for the cup of tea £8. Radiators in room were all off and we had to turn them on and heating didn’t fire up till 7pm by which time we were very cold.

Staff was superb Nothing really it was very tastefully decorated and quality of room was spot on. If I had to mention one thing it would be the WiFi kept dropping out but not anything that spoilt the stay.

We brought our little dog with us and wer so pleased to have a decent room, not always the case when bringing a pet. We ate at the hotel and the meal was delicious, as was the breakfast.

The food served at dinner was creative and excellent, albeit pricey. Bed was small and sloped into the middle, not helped by duvet and duvet cover being a little too small - a larger duvet cover would have made all the difference. Dining room was a bit cold - there was a fire but we were too far from it to get the benefit and we should have asked to switch tables to be closer.

The room was warm and pleasant and looked like it had recently had a new bathroom and carpet which was nice. The dinner and breakfast were excellent and I loved seeing the peacocks in the morning. A wonderful and quiet location. The room was clean but behind the comfy chair when I was using the plug there was quite a bit of dust hidden in that corner.

Breakfast not included in the room rate, no prices on breakfast menu and then presented with a large bill on check out. No transparency with their guest and left the stay on a negative note. Simply not clear on information at all. Shower pressure also exceptionally poor although bathrooms are beautiful.

- Martin (10/5): I think I have said almost enough. Why not just serve good old-fashioned food ? - Everything except the dinner. Super hotel In great village location, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Dinner. What a shame that such a lovely hotel should want to be so pretentious about their food at dinner. We have stayed there on two previous occasions and had no complaints. Perhaps the management or chef have changed ? Completely spoilt our stay. As a result, we dill never stay there again. With Christmas in mind, we all ordered the turkey dish. The plates were hot but the food was tepid. A little piece of turkey was wrapped in some chewy material, the pig in blanket was pale with almost uncooked bacon partially wrapped round it. It would be disgusting to truly describe the so-called vegetables. At breakfast, two of our party ordered bacon. Both pieces were inedible.

- Chris (10/5): This hotel is a great find! We would definitely return again. - Friendly staff and a lovely welcoming feel to the hotel on arrival. The evening menu options were clearly selected to provide choices which catered for most tastes and our meal was excellent. English breakfast next morning was well presented and very tasty with home made hash browns and local eggs and sausage/bacon. The vegan breakfast was also very good. Accomodation was clean and comfortable.

Note - room had been paid for in advance

- Paul (7/5): Nice for a foodie break, could be improved for business travelers - Quiet location, clean, beautifully decorated, friendly staff, lovely building with a very good but higher end restaurant No simpler menu bar snacks etc for solo travelers like me, we don’t want high end dining just some simple alternatives like sandwiches would be great. Also the bed in the room I stayed in squeaked with every movement and the mattress wasn’t very comfortable, coupled with a very thick mattress made for a bad nights sleep.

- annajD3123NF (2/5): AVOID ON A MONDAY !!!! - A very disappointing evening had at The Farthings hotel for my mums 80th birthday celebrations! The communication and service was poor and we were made to feel pressurised into leaving the room as it was needed for a conference the following morning! The whole experience was rushed, we weren't provided with what was arranged in terms of desert or teas and coffees! When charging a considerable fee for what is a lovely venue we didn't get the experience we were looking forward to! Most Disappointing!!
- Jill (9/5): We would definitely stay there again if we were in that part of the world.🌟 - The staff were lovely The food (breakfast & dinner) was well cooked, presented, and delicious The location was pretty and peaceful Wood burners in the public rooms - always a win on cold days The garden was a lovely sunny spot to sit outside with a cup of tea or a beer The whole place had a lovely feel to it The bathrooms were really nicely appointed Parking was very easy We are not fans of memory foam mattresses - we find them very hot - and this one was super soft too, so if you got near to the edge of the bed, the edge just gave way and you came close to rolling out. Also, with no flat sheet under the duvet, there was no way to cool down a bit other than sleeping with no covers. So we had quite a broken night's sleep.

- Magdalena (8/5): - Clean and tidy rooms with very comfy bed and amazing views, delicious breakfast however the bathroom was a disappointment, water pressurw was besrly non exsistant plus the shower head was dirty with a spider in the ocrner, also there was no shampoo avaialble. Overall very lovely place.
