Guest Reviews
- NAFHAN (4/5): Overall disappointing apart from the tea factory tour and tea tasting - Tea factory tour and tea tasting were amazing. Our guide Pushpika gave us a well detailed explanation and made our stay very knowledgeable and unforgettable.
Morning views were lovely. Unclean linen with stains. There was a cockroach in the bathroom and inside a drawer. Lights were blinking in the bathroom and as soon as the tap was open, an army of ants came out. The other bathroom had a missing piece from the ceiling š«© Bathroom wasnāt well maintained or clean
Receptionist doesnāt pick up the phone promptly.
WiFi connection was average but there was no connection in the morning hours.
- Eduard (7/5): - Interessante locatie, bezichtiging theefabriek mogelijk, geweldige omgeving. Kamer was ontzettend muf en veel was defect. Vanuit de badkamer kwam onderlangs de muur veel water slaapkamer in. Ondanks locatie te duur.
- Ravi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ravi (10/5): Love the experience for a very very reasonable price. - The place is so good for people who does the pekoe trail stage 3. The hotel road is part of pekoe trail so itās easy. The food was really tasty and staff is super friendly. I think the best experience you get is the tea factory visit, estate visit where you have to dress up like a tea plucker and they teach you what leaf to pick. Then the chocolate tasting. Had a chat with the chef. Very friendly and let us taste few chcoloate flavors. The flavors u never had before. There is ginger cardamom. And lot of different flavors. I love the whole experience as a local. I am sure a foreigner would love these more. And letās not forget the recreational place. Pool, carrom, table tennis. We had so much fun. Forgot we did a long hike. Oh forgot about the stunning views you get. Itās very picturesque. The hotel needs to be a little more functional. Eg ground floor. Looks deserted. Also we got a family room and provided only two towels and two glasses. Some of the toilet doors are not lockable. Even you told the staff they didnāt make an action. They should make the windows bigger so we can enjoy the views more from the room.
- S.t.romesh (8/5): Must visit for tea factory visit and great stay in mountain - The rooms and stay were good, staff went over and above to greet and supported us, best part Is their tea factory tour and explanation,
- Angelique (7/5): Good - The room was lovely. Great bed. Nice and quiet. Communication amongst staff could be improved. Twice I was told to come up at a certain time for dinner/breakfast and both times I was then told the kitchen was closed. Communication with me went a bit chaotic, although everyone was really friendly and ready to help out.
Quality of the breakfast could be improved.
- Udeshi (7/5): Friendly staff and a beautiful location. Spacious room and easy access. But the WiFi was too slow. - Friendly staff and the location is beautiful. WiFi was too slow
- Haleem (1/5): I am not recommending this hotel to anyone. - Nothing. Hotel strongly requested to pay the full amount of money before we enter the room. Once we paid there are no any staff to look after us. Drinking water not provided daily. Linen not changed daily. No space to hang the used cloths. This hotel screwed up our entire holiday.
- Gokul (7/5): Nice location and were looked after well by Mohammed and team - Nice property and location. Staff were excellent. Tea estate and factory tour were great. Need day to day maintenance regularly
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mikhailo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adam (7/5): Good -
- Athula (7/5): Excellent location for pekoe trail - Location since it's is right at the end of pekoe trail stage 3.
Excellent staff.
Comfortable bed and clean toilet.
Very enjoyable short complementary tour of the tea factory
Locally cooked excellent sri lankan breakfast.
Value for money The hotel is not well maintained. It needs massive refurbishment. ( room sade could not be opened, one of the bedside lams was broken, and there was no remote for the TV). Though the bathroom is clean, the standard needs to be much better.
If the hotelmis is not maintained well, then the future ratings will be much lower.
- Vijayantha (6/5): Pleasant - The Tea Factory Staff Member Ms. Lakshmi Given superb service introduction
- Manish (1/5): Poor hygiene, Cleanliness, bad rooms and bathroom - Itās near by the temple we want to visit. No cleanliness : Bathroom was dirty and even after telling them they said only this room is available and they canāt clean and I had to clean for my family .
Insects and Smell : Its continuously coming out of the room and blankets were used and dirty.
Full hotel smells with Non-veg food.
Not recommended at all for family.
- Sander (9/5): A lot better then expected - Very surprised in a good way. It's unbelievable that there are not more people staying there. The hotel is right on the Pekoe trail, which is nice after a full day hiking. The price is very good compared to several other accommodations in the area and the rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is helpful and welcoming and the free your around the tea factory was very educational. Unfortunately the dinner-and-breakfast-choices were quite marginale, but that was maybe because of low season.
- Charitha (9/5): Superb - Clean place.. friendly staff.. they arrange special tour of the Tea Factory & Tea Estate by superb guid..(Ms Kumariā¤ļø) No Restaurant..
- Raghuram (10/5): Exceptional - Spacious rooms with high pressure hot water supply , foot massager, . Great tasty breakfast
Free Factory visit, Tea tasting many more, must visit & stay again.
- Raghuram (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent service
- Yasantha (7/5): Good -
- Ramanan (8/5): Very good -
- Ajith (6/5): Limited choices in the area, so it was OK - we came after a 17km hike on Pekoe Trail 3. The hotel is on the trail, so it was convenient. sadly, after a long hike, we didn't have sufficient hot water in the shower. staff was good and friendly, and the food was tasty. No Hot water and the manager said that is because the hotel was full..! may have in the morning but the time we came it was not. could be cleaner
- Nirmala (10/5): Exceptional -
- R (9/5): Superb -
- Arosha (5/5): I can say its an Average ,and that was okay because we are on our Pekoe trai hike - Room not cleaning and linens not change from the last stay , because lots of long hairs on the bed. So that was not in an acceptance level. I was so tired after my 18.6 km hike on the Pekoe trail , Even not available in water or tea in the room. By the way they ofoffered tea when I went to lobby area.
- Chathuranga (2/5): Very poor customer service, rooms and washrooms are not clean. no wifi and TVs were broken too. - I like very much this location Cleanless bathrooms we informed them and they cleaned it againš š ,foods, breakfast(they told they are giving american bf but we received noodles with one juice cupšš) ,Very poor customer service, rooms and washrooms are not clean well. no wifi and TVs were broken too. we booked 2 rooms for 5 people and they not offered water bottles for whole team, worthless. they are only trying to sell rooms. will not recommend to anyone.
- George (9/5): Overall it was a well worth stop. All staff were excellent, always serving with a smile. - Breakfast (& Dinner) was excellent; Chef Periyakka did a great job by providing the food we requested. Best location close to Nuwara Eliya, Kothmale Dam and other attractions near-by for anyone to take a value for money rest. We were taken on a special tour of the Tea Factory by superb guide, Ms. Shiva. All staff, specifically Lal, Aafir, Yamuna, together with the Chef and Guide, were excellent!
- Cyentist (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly staff and good vakue for money Nothing specific. A suggestion is that could have paid more attention to detail
- Chaminda (6/5): A hotel in need of proper make over - The staff superb , went to extreams to make our stay bit pleasent. The teacfactory tour is unique and must to anyone visiting. The hotel needs a full facelift, staff needs hotel training, not they are bad but to enhance their work there .The hotel needs a good colour wash and bring up to hotel standards. A good hotel standard.
- Chaminda (6/5): A good hotel badly managed - The staff and the tea factory A lot but in short hotel needs a full change over.
- Charith (5/5): It was a great experience as the family gathering after long period - Food and the staff Cleanliness, room arrangement
- Irshad (7/5): Good location, not pricey but could be better. - Good location and good, friendly and helpful staff. Some areas were not maintained well at all and was not clean specially the kitchen. This place has so much potential to be amazing but it has been disregarded over time.
- Rakitha (8/5): Great value for money. - Very comfortable bed and clean room. Clean and spacious bathroom with hot water. Quiet and peaceful. Lot of garden space outside for walks. TV was available, but had only 2 channels. I wish there is a proper restaurant with more meal options. Missed a morning wake up tea to the room, which some of the hotels provide.
- Gihan (9/5): Superb -
- Liubov (4/5): A lot to improve - The personell is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clearly not checked, maybe because not much in use, as there was a mold smell. The bed sheets had stains, the AC didn't work (only fan), there was dust on the glass rack, and there was a spider kingdom in the bathroom.
Hopefully these comments will help for improvement.
- Ela (9/5): Superb - The room was good.
We had to leave very early, so we spent too little time there We had to leave very early, so we spent too little time there
- Kaliya (10/5): enjoyed the stay - Great staff, exceptionally helpful, will recommend to visit if they can add dinner service would be perfect
- Perry (8/5): Very good - I liked the coziness in the hotel. Every thing was just right Nothing was there that I did not like
- Kristina (8/5): Very good - Very nice hotel situated right on the factory which gave a very easy access to the plantation.
The staff was very nice and helpful. There was not at restaurant in the hotel but the staff was very helpful and made us some sandwiches
- Thinushka (4/5): Good stay for 2 nights, merely to explore the vicinity - The staff were friendly and eager to please. Food was basic but tasty. It was a budget stay. 1) The washrooms could have been scrubbed and prepared better
2) The bed sheet had a stain
3) We had to ask for tea cups and coffee making facilities
4) Lots of space abandoned and in disrepair
- Nurul (7/5): Good -
- Darren (2/5): Disastrous - The bed sheets were absolutely filthy along with the towels . Total health hazard As above
- Deshini (4/5): Disappointing - The location and view as well as architecture is good. The rooms are not comfortable. The bathroom did not contain basics such as shampoo, body wash, toothpaste even a piece if soap.only a jug kettle provided no any tea bag to make a plain tea wven. Food are very cold and not delicious.
- Eleonora (3/5): Not sure how they got this rating on booking but I nearly didnāt sleep, dirty pillow dirty linen, really disappointed - The staff and the location Dirty linens dirty towels no wifi but overall the really dirty room, such a shame as itās a great location
- Suhasiny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wolley (9/5): Superb -
- Baris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thadsha (9/5): Nice stay - Breakfast was very nice.
Staff were very friendly.
Clean room with good a.c and great pillows.
The factory tour, tea tasting and tour of plantation were complimentary and was so good. The address indicated on booking.com for property is wrong. If I didnāt spot the board I would have driven to gampola (44 mins more)
- R (4/5): Disappointing -
- R (4/5): Disappointing -
- Anna (9/5): Nice place to stay - great service - even though the hotel is big we felt like at home.
we arrived during a downpour, we were welcomed. Tea, blankets and additional heating for the room were offered (the day was exceptionally cold)
tasty and varied breakfast (fantastic avocado juice!)
interesting tea factory tour finished with tasting
- Joseph (1/5): Not comportable. - Only location. There is no proper service.
- Mahesh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suzanne (10/5): Exceptional - Great stay, very nice people. Good tour trough the tea factory, and multiple different teaās we could taste!
- Suhasiny (8/5): Very good -
- Palitha (9/5): Great tea factory experience with friendly staff. - Great location to view the tea factory with spacious areas to relax and look at the mountains. Spacious room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was very humid and corridors lighting didnāt allow the room to be dark during sleep as no curtains in the bathroom window.
- Mariia (10/5): Caring and friendly staff, excellent location. Delicious food, an interesting excursion to the tea factory and plantatio - The hotel is of course old, but the team is excellent - the rooms are renovated, the plumbing and bathroom are new and comfortable, there is hot water. The Windows overlook the road, but the view is of the mountains and greenery. The noise from the road is not audible if you close the windows. Breakfasts and dinners are super delicious. You can also order lunches. A wonderful woman cooks, you can warn about your preferences in advance - in general, all questions and wishes can be quickly and clearly resolved through Farvees (Operations Coordinator). The rooms are spacious, there is everything you need and an electric kettle and tea. Around the mountains, waterfalls and tea plantations factories, temples - we specially returned to these places after a trip to Noir Elia and Ella. The hotel itself has a lot of common comfortable spaces in the fresh air and under the roof - you can be alone or gather a company at the table, we used free billiards for guests. Special thanks to the Beautiful Shiva for an interesting and informative tour. The hotel has a good natural cosmetics and tea shop.
- Pradeep (9/5): Superb - Tea Factory tour and tea tasting was excellent. Kamalesh did an nice introduction about tea factory process.

- Dhammapiya (5/5): Hotel in tea plantation - The hotel is in the tea plantation. Happy with the room upgrade! No internet access and the staff very slow to resolve it!
- Dhammapiya (6/5): Can be better - Happy to have 2 out of 7 rooms upgraded! WiFi problem took long time to resolve. Breakfast wasn't on time as promised making our itinerary delayed!
