• Monika (10/5): La Dolce Vita at The Shire hotel - Our stay at The Shire Hotel was truly wonderful and we enjoyed every moment of it. The location on Via Veneto is absolutely perfect, a beautiful and still elegant district full of the spirit of F. Fellini and his famous film La Dolce Vita. Our room was very comfortable and we especially appreciated having the only room with a balcony, thank you for that. The reception staff were always kind, welcoming, and ready to help with anything we needed. Right after our arrival, we received a complimentary bottle of wine, fresh water was regularly replenished, and upon request we were even provided with a kettle and tea. On another day, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary fruit platter. These thoughtful gestures and the genuine care from the staff made our stay in Rome even more memorable. The room was cleaned every day and we highly appreciated the excellent cleanliness. We also had breakfast included and, as people who have travelled extensively around Italy, we found the breakfast selection absolutely sufficient and very tasty. We would also like to mention the large and very comfortable bed. Even though our room faced a busy street, the windows insulated the noise very well and we slept peacefully every night. Thank you for the excellent service and hospitality. We will definitely return to this hotel on our next trip to Rome.

• Roxana (9/5): Lindo hotel en Vía Veneto, excelente ubicación y alejado del bullicio - La ubicación. Está en Centro histórico pero retirada del bullicio y las multitudes. Sin embargo se puede llegar a pie a distintos puntos turísticos. Personal muy amable y dispuesto para ayudar. Habitaciones amplias, cómodas y lindo diseño Podría ser mejor: colocar reposa maletas. Ampliar la variedad del desayuno.

• Donald (9/5): Great night at the Shire - Beautiful location right by the Borghese Gardens in an upscale neighborhood. Quiet area away from the crowds. Friendly helpful staff. Clean comfortable rooms on the third floor of an office building. Lots of nice options on the breakfast buffet! It’s not that close to a subway stop and it’s up a fairly long hill. Could have used a shelf in the bathroom for toiletries and a mirror to see how you’re looking.

• Tamara CB (10/5): Beautiful view on the park Borghese and Roman gate. - The hotel was located in a beautiful and peaceful neighbourhood, one of the most luxurious streets, very safe and the view from the room was on the roman gate and Borghese park, it was nice even to look at it and drink wine in the room. The room was very nice, modern, clean with a big and comfortable bed, cleaning service each day was fantastic. There is a free and late checkout 12pm, and we were able to enter the room around 11am even though it was supposed to be at 3 pm. Breakfast was nice, usual and enough, we enjoyed it. Stuff was very pleasant, there for every of our needs, gave us very good recommendations for the city attractions and restaurants, and each day we were given some small treat as in wine, chocolate, fruit, etc. Everything was fantastic, and if we return to Rome this would be our choice again, for sure. Everything was perfect.

• spearce53 (4/5): Not worth the price - We stayed at this hotel in August. It seemed liked a nice hotel, even though it’s in a very odd location without a sign saying Hotel Shire. The weather in Rome was extremely hot, so on the first day roaming around we were happy to get back to our air conditioned room. At approximately 2am the air conditioning stopped and we woke up sweating. It was extremely uncomfortable. We went for breakfast, and the coffee machine was not working properly. Then I tried to make toast and the toaster didn’t work. By this time I was really a bit ticked off. The girl at the desk had a major attitude and acted like this was all our fault somehow. The second night, the air conditioning stopped at the same time. Once again it was sweltering outside so we couldn’t even cool off by opening the window. The next morning we told them again about the air conditioning. As they could see we were very upset after two sleepless night’s the hotel offered us two nights the next time we visited. I recently tried to book for April for 4 nights and they tried to charge us an exorbitant amount for the other two nights. We didn’t book it, as the price does not match the quality of the hotel. Wouldn’t stay here again if they paid me at this point.

• Mimiinthecity0407 (10/5): Wonderful and comfortable small boutique hotel. - This hotel is in a wonderful safe district of Rome. It’s a very quaint, quiet boutique style hotel ) I think they have 9 rooms?) we booked the lovely corner room with panoramic views of the Roman Wall. The staff is incredibly accommodating and the breakfast was more than ample (although routine). Many excellent lower cost restaurants within easy walking distance. DO NOT spend your $ on Crazy Pizza. But do stop for a drink at Harry’s Bar right below the hotel. Easy walking distance to Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the American Embassy.

La ubicación , la habitación preciosa y el hotel con una decoración y un gusto exquisito , con pequeños detalles como cuadros ,libros y algún Fornasetti ❤️. El desayuno genial con gran variedad y Giulia que nos recibió una maravilla 🥰atenta y disponible además de que habla español . Sin duda repetiremos . Un gusto encontrar sitios así y encontrarse tan buen además de que las fotos en booking corresponden totalmente a la realidad . Limpieza perfecta , cama muy cómoda y grande , vistas en la habitación y tranquilidad en la zona . Nos gustó TODO

Cuando volvamos a Roma volveremos, y recomendaré a mi amigos y familiares este hotel , pues merece mucho la pena! La suite es un espectáculo con unas vistas preciosas y super cómoda! Anche mio fratello si è trovato molto bene: inizialmente aveva una camera in una posizione un po’ più nascosta, ma gli è stato offerto gratuitamente un upgrade con una stanza bellissima, allo stesso prezzo. Un gesto molto apprezzato che dimostra grande professionalità e attenzione verso gli ospiti. Struttura curata, ambiente accogliente e ottima organizzazione. Di sicuro torneremo anche quest’anno. • John (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at The Shire. It is a small boutique hotel. When you first arrive it can be a bit confusing. They do not have a obvious front to the hotel. Just a small sign on the side of the door next to Harry's Restaurant. If you arrive after hours press the button to be let in. Take the lift to the 1st froor. We had the large suite in the corner above Harry's. It was very comfortable. It could use a few more pieces of seating furniture in the bedroom and luggage stands, but that is minor. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was comparable to most European breakfasts. I would definitely stay there again the next time I'm in Rome.

• henry (10/5): Delightful stay in elegant comfort. - Exceptional staff, helpful and engaging. Hotel is elegant and sophisticated, rooms beautifully appointed. We arrived earlier than check-in and, while there is no lobby in which to wait, we were able to leave our luggage at the welcome desk and go for lunch at a nearby restaurants. There are ample walking opportunities in the park a block away. This was our first stay at this hotel but will not be our last. Highly recommend.
• Michael (10/5): Very comfortable boutique hotel in a quieter part of the city. - Excellent quieter location in City but very convenient for accessing other areas. Lovely bright room overlooking ancient wall with a very large bed and good shower. All supported by exceptionally helpful staff. We were very happy with our time at the hotel.
• JOANN (10/5): - Small rooms, but modern and updated. I wish they had a luggage rack. That’s probably my only complaint - as you get older, you kinda don’t want to bend down on the floor to unpack . They also have a lift / elevator so that was helpful !!! it is very small so there will be climbing the steps to get the second floor, which is where all the rooms are located and the breakfast was a typical European continental. (Many of the old hotels do not have lifts .) I don’t think this hotel has been here very long as most Everything looked pretty new -very safe location as well. It’s actually a more expensive part of town and several of the tour guide and other locals commented as such. That’s not why I booked it, but I did book it based on other people’s recommendations regarding how safe it was and now I know why. La bruschetta is a very casual restaurant nearby on one of the side streets and it was very good. We ate there several times super casual and quite inexpensive.

We had to reject our first booking at the Spanish Suites upon arrival — we'd been totally fooled by their photos on booking.com, so quickly booked the Shire and they greeted us an hour later. Only 8 rooms at The Shire, all on the 1st floor, all exactly as presented online and tastefully decorated. Super clean, super welcoming, perfect AC, plenty of space, perfectly quiet and restful, and a very useful location for getting around Rome.

• dinor203 (2/5): Worst hotel ever - Stay far away from The Shire Hotel in Rome. We booked our Rome visits to stay 2 nights at this hotel. Upon arrival on June 21, 2025 we noticed our room was a bit hot. The temperatures outside were over 90 degrees and as we later found out the air conditioning in the hotel was not working. We reached out to the management and they did nothing. We could not stay in this uncomfortable room so we were forced to leave and find another hotel. I had prepaid for the 2 nights via Booking.com and received basically no refund. The hotel offer a voucher for a future visit that would expire in 6 months and i told them no that i wanted my money back. The hotel refused. Terrible management and terrible filthy hotel.

I was unlucky in that the Italian equivalent of the Oscars took place immediately outside the building on one night and no double glazing can compete with a full orchestra and loud speakers

The shower room needs to be addressed the shower screens were far to small lots of water from splash all over the floor making the tiles very slippery had to put towels on the floor to absorb the water and stop it from spreading I to the bedroom a part from that absolutely fine

They helped us get into our room early after a long red eye flight and early arrival Would have been cool to have earlier breakfast, as we were busy with activities most days. But I don’t really think that’s a complaint, just our schedule.
• Alex (6/5): Renovated boutique hotel located away from the city centre - Complimentary drinks and snacks. LOCATION IS VERY FAR AWAY FROM THE CITY CENTRE 1. Aircon was working about half the time. It would overload and stop working when too many people turn it on 2. Very small bathroom 3. No 24hour reception (limited to 9pm) 4. Hard to find on the streets (only a door on the ground level) 5. Breakfast in the morning was not great 6. A bit noisy when the window is opened because all the rooms are located on the first floor

• Oren (9/5): Overall it's a great hotel in a perfect location with a very helpful staff. - The location of the hotel was perfect—about 15 minute walk from the Trevi and most attractions. The staff were great! Very helpful and informative. There were some minor issues with the Air Conditioning but the staff handled it.

• Vicente (10/5): Wonderful and practical accomodation on Via Veneto. - I have stayed several times in Via Veneto and find that the rooms at the Shire are comparable to those of nearby luxury brand hotels. I look foward to returning in the future.
• Navigator01879913656 (10/5): Charming and wonderful location - Wonderful boutique hotel. We stayed in a corner suite and it was as charming as the website presented it to be. Clean & comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Yes, street noise but it didn’t bother us. Would definitely stay here again.

• Laurie (10/5): The Shire is a great deal! - Amazing location and view of Borghese Gardens and Roman wall from our room. Lots of light and very spacious and clean room. Staff was helpful and breakfast was good. Excellent value for hotel in Rome. Will stay here again. Only hallenge was the lock on entry door at night. Our key card never worked.
