Robin the GM, Hayden in the front office and Nathan at the desk were wonderful!! They were all very professional, friendly and made us feel like we were at a cozy boutique hotel. The location is spectacular, walking distance to everything in downtown Charleston. If you want a special hotel that embraces southern hospitality, then Hotel Bella Grace is the place you should try out. Safe travels 🙂

- jlkslk85 (10/5): What a gem! - We absolutely, positively loved this hotel! From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in the right place. When we entered the room, we were so impressed with the beautiful decor, modern furnishings and amenities. There is a cooktop, microwave, and full size refrigerator/freezer, as well as a dishwasher. The bathroom is gorgeous and has everything that we needed. We are so happy that we chose the Bella Grace! It is within walking distance to everything that we wanted to do in Charleston. We shall return!

- 356mickeyf (6/5): Nice rooms but completely unusable - no breakfast here either - Overall, the property is nice, but they did not deliver what we had asked for in our reservation. We arrived at the property at 3:30 ahead of check in and received the last available room. When we arrived in the room, to our dismay, they put us in a handicapped room. Which wouldn’t have been a problem, but there were zero opportunities to sit in your hotel room - which is incredibly disappointing. We booked this room because we were promised a sitting area. We are titanium elite members here, and we were told no breakfast comps were available anywhere on site - this is a sad trend we are seeing at many Marriott properties these days - to the management of Marriott - customers are noting this and are questioning their loyalty to the brand. The staff were courteous at this resort, and they did provide EV charging for us, which was nice. However, the room was effectively not functional and we had to sit in the lobby for the duration of our stay when we were not sleeping.
- 859missyf (6/5): Just Okay - We booked a room here as this is supposedly a residence inn and each room has a sitting area in addition to beds. Unfortunately, our room did not as we were placed in the only handicap accessible room on site as “we were the last to arrive” of others that booked a 2 queen room. When we asked to be moved to another room that was not handicapped accessible as we did not need these accommodations - we were told no as “90 % of those occupying the hotel were also titanium elite bonvoy or higher” as we are - so moving us was not possible. The room we were assigned was not functional for us and the room was a bit worn and tired. We had high expectations for this place, but we were very disappointed. We usually stay at the Grand Bohemian hotel while in Charleston and will plan to stay there again the next time we visit instead of here due to this recent experience.

- Medsales (6/5): eh, just okay - The hotel is very small, with no amenities. It wasn't as close to all the shops and restaurants that I would have liked. The safe did not work, the toilet barely flushed. When I asked the lady at the desk if I could use the pool at the Courtyard next door, without hesitation, she said no. I called the Courtyard myself and the lady said that I could use the pool. It would be best if the lady at the hotel would have not answered unless she knew the correct answer, or at least said she would be happy to call them to ask. You can't self park, valet only, which is not a feature I appreciate.

- Yulit (9/5): Great stay, will return next month! - the hotel is gorgeous, a lot of art and beautifully designed. The room was specious, spotless clean and well maintained and equipped. Staff was kind and personal, easy and quick check in and out. Recommended!! I had to wait at the lobby for a couple hours after check out, and there was not really a sitting/waiting area. There is a large ottoman that I set on, but would be nice to have some sort of a Lobby-like wait area. Even with that- the staff was super accommodating and made sure I was as comfortable as can be.

The staff is so friendly and accommodating, the rooms are always spotless, the location is within walking distance of anything you could possibly need, and the beach is only a short drive away. I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else, I’ll definitely continue staying here every year when we visit!

- FSUgirlGreenville (10/5): Excellent stay - This is our go-to place to stay in Charleston. It is technically a Residence Inn, but really more of a unique, beautiful boutique hotel. The staff is great and the rooms are well kept. Although we opted for no housekeeping during our stay, they were so kind and happily willing to empty our trash and even give us fresh towels. The lighting isn’t the best, but several of the lights have dimmer switches, so that was nice. The tv selection wasn’t great, so it would be nice if they could offer Ion or WE. They do have HBO and several ESPN channels, so that was good. The signal would go in and out on the tv though. Our room had a small kitchenette, so we had breakfast in our room. Loved the chaise and table in the room. Was a great gathering spot for family. There was plenty of storage and a small safe. The only parking option is valet at $55/night, but that’s typical for Charleston. Although we didn’t use the gym, we did take a look at it and it is pretty nice, offering some cardio equipment and free weights. This hotel is a great, central location for accessing places off of both King Street and Meeting Street. The City Market is not far, about a half mile walk. Although breakfast is not offered, they do offer coffee downstairs all day and there are a number of breakfast places just a short walk away.

- adelek328 (10/5): Hidden Marriott Gem - What a cute hidden Marriott gem in heart of downtown walking distance to everything. The hotel is so clean and smells great. The staff makes you feel like family. We enjoyed the best dinner at their restaurant the Delaney. We will definitely return when we visit our son at the college .

- RnRHotelier (2/5): Worst Marriott Experience - Terrible HVAC and Appalling Customer Service - As a loyal Titanium Elite Member with Marriott, I’ve stayed at many of their properties over the years, but my recent experience at Hotel Bella Grace has been by far the worst. I had the misfortune of staying in a room with a malfunctioning HVAC system that rattled the lighting fixtures and made incessant tugboat-like noises for two nights. It was impossible to sleep with the constant disruption, and after a long day of travel, this was the last thing I needed. To make matters worse, when I received my bill post-stay, I was shocked to find four nights of valet parking charges, despite the fact that I didn't even have a car during my stay. After multiple calls to both the hotel and Marriott, I was granted a small amount of points as "compensation" – a meager amount that didn't even cover one night of my stay. To this day, I have not received a single apology for the inconvenience, and they still haven't addressed "why" the billing error. Over a month has passed, and despite 10+ calls to both the hotel and Marriott customer service, my claim is still unresolved. It's incredibly frustrating to be ignored like this, especially when you’re a loyal member who expects better treatment. I’ve traveled extensively, but this has been by far the worst follow-up I’ve ever received. All I want is a simple resolution and for the hotel to show some basic customer service, such as picking up the phone and calling their guest. It’s honestly not that difficult. I will not be returning to this property or recommending it to anyone. Hotel Bella Grace and Marriott have left me completely disappointed and frustrated.
- Diane (8/5): - This was a good choice for an overnight stay with my sisters. The property was clean and reasonably close to historic center of Charleston. As my sisters are older they found the distance a little too far for walking. The young man at the valet was very personable and friendly but the young lady at the desk at checkin was not as friendly and helpful. I was disappointed when she said they were out of complimentary water. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated but the rooms smelled heavily of bleach. The shower was very difficult to regulate the water and you got very cold and wet waiting a long time for water to warm up once you figured out how the tap worked. Overall I liked the hotel but would not return.
- Halina (4/5): Getaway to Charleston - Since I am a senior with a torn rotator cuff and mult joint issues, it is extremely uncomfortable to share a bed, even a king. The dble Qn beds on my reservation (2 nights), with Hotels.com/Expedia, were not available. Sleeping comfortably on a weekend getaway did not happen for myself nor my daughter. Our room smelled fresh and was clean, as well as the bedding. Back in our room after a late dinner, no wine glasses to be found to finish our leftover wine, however. On top of that, power to our bathroom lights & fan would not work. While my daughter has no trouble standing in the hall to apply makeup or doing her hair, I require bright light and the magnifying mirror which was in the pitch black bathroom. Using the toilet during the night was very challenging for me. While this problem was resolved on day 2, we arrived back after a late dinner to find that our toilet would not flush. In the morning, my daughter went out to another hotel to use their bathroom facilities, while I was fortunate to encounter a maid on our floor, who kindly allowed me to use the bathroom of an empty room she was cleaning. Bottom line: Hotel Bella Grace, has gracious & friendly front desk and cleaning staff, but the facility itself is third world quality. VERY disappointing!
- moppa (8/5): Great Option in Charleston - A nice boutique hotel in Charleston. The location is great for the College of Charleston and good for downtown. We walked almost everywhere and then used Ubers when we couldn’t. The hotel was very quiet and had a trendy vibe. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, offering some great restaurant recommendations. The rooms are cozy, but they're well-equipped with everything you need, including a mini-fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. The bathroom was a good size, and the bed was super comfortable. It's nice that Marriott's portfolio has expanded to include boutique hotels. Note that if you need more space, the Marriot Courtyard is right next store.

Like no other Residence Inn I’ve seen! Bed is extremely comfortable and the vibe and decor super hip. Fridge, microwave, dishwasher, sink, burner - all thoughtfully integrated into a chic designed room. And right next to the Delaney House Oyster Bar. Good location and walkable to Meeting and King streets.

Also, you can hear the water flow through the pipes when flushing, which I did not enjoy. There was a false fire alarm that went off the last night at 7am and was a total sleep disruption. I probably would not stay at this hotel again.

Bed was extremely soft and uncomfortable, however, and the small couch in the room was unusable because if you sat on it you would hit your head on the TV hanging above it. Bathroom setup a bit odd - no way to turn on the shower without getting soaked and no door on the toilet area, although there is room for one. Hotel is attractive, but there is no bar, restaurant, or any other amenities. Fine for sleeping for a business trip, but not somewhere I would want to hangout.

- GeetingReal (2/5): HORRIBLE CASE - - We opted to cash in 94K points to stay 1 night at this hotel, to celebrate our anniversary while on a 3 week road trip along the east coast. YES - we did make the reservations the day before and knew the hotel would be full per the availability listed on the site. However we checked in early, and when given a dark room, asked if we could have another room facing the street - which was being cleaned. We were not in a hurry and were fine waiting. The front desk person declined and was not overly friendly, almost annoyed by the request. Then then next morning when taking a shower before leaving, the water was cold - I called to get help, no one answered the phone. To prevent my husband from having to also take a cold shower, I went down to the front desk, which was empty... no one there even after waiting more than 5 minutes. Reluctantly and frustrated, I went back up stairs, my husband took a quick cold shower and we both discussed how disappointed we were with the stay - especially considering the cost. I called and filed a complaint - along with also emailing the hotel. Their response - They didn't care. They said the hotel was full.. room changes were not available -and that they sent someone to check the cold water while we were there? LIE - complete LIE. I have been a Marriott Reward member for over 25 years, plus a Maui Marriott Time Share owner. We stayed at numerous hotels along the coast during this trip and never had such a horrible experience. We asked for some type of accommodation and were told they would refund 1/2 the points. Fine.. it was more about the principle of paying for something that nice and getting such horrible service. However, when the points never showed up, and after sending two emails to Marriott Customer service, orver a period of 6 weeks with no response, I called on 12/4, got a customer service supervisor - who ultimately said they were not going to do anything. That Robin Hines the main manager, and Hayden Fairfax, provided their account and agreed they would do NOTHING. I am appalled - and deeply disappointed in how Marriott Corporate and this particular hotel chose to treat such a loyal customer. HORRIBLE. DO not stay there and honestly - now I am rethinking any future stays at any Marriott if this is how Corporate chooses to treat their loyal members.

We asked for more towels and never got them. Had to ask after 4:30 pm for the room to be cleaned. Not acceptable. I was told they were very busy turning over the hotel. The staff was very friendly and there are tons of great places to eat. Its about a 15 min walk to the market and just a few blocks over from King street.

- jonmV1762QG (10/5): Hotel Bella Grace is the best stay!! - We decided to take a family/business trip to Charleston SC, and after researching and reading the reviews, visiting the website, we decided to book with Hotel Bella Grace! A Beautiful hotel in the heart of the city!! We appreciate the attention to the interior details, custom fixtures and finishes in our room, this is very unique and thankfully Not the standard boring corporate design. The hotel location is walkable to shops and restaurants and they offer gated valet parking, who were always polite, friendly, and quick to get your car. The entire staff was very accommodating and friendly from answering questions and gave us suggestions for activities with our kids. The Service was outstanding and professional, check in and check out was excellent. The beaches are a short drive away, easy to drive to and find parking. Next door is a excellent restaurant,.fyi.. Our Room was spacious and clean. The staff was accommodating with any additional requests we needed. I highly recommend Hotel Bella Grace! We are planning on staying again soon!

The Delaney Oyster House is literally 10 feet from the front door. The location is perfect. Close to Marion Square, King Street, the Market, etc. Rooms are clean, have mini kitchens. It is peaceful & quiet. We will return. Great place. Thanks for another great stay!

Call the front desk and she tries to tell me to fix the toilet myself. Can’t help. Then the ac isn’t working. And instead of telling me sorry and let’s see what we can do and try and find a solution she goes you’re actually lucky it’s that low with the heat outside. Not oh it’s an actual ac unit and it’s supposed to keep things cool. The blankets weren’t that soft. The towels are scratchy. The pillows are lumpy and not enough of them. The iron is broken as well We’re checking out tomorrow and would check out now but we already paid for the room.

They were so helpful wit reservations and recommendations since this was our first time to Charleston we had a LOT of questions, being from Chicago and everyone was so patient. They offer no breakfast they offer no information for local tourism the lack of knowledge of what was around the hotel was very disappointing. Our room was not at check in and it took three days for our room to get cleaned properly Our stay at this hotel as a rewards and quarter century Marriott members meant nothing. The hospitality was completely non existent at this hotel. At first we thought the young service desk members had just started working at hotel due to lack of knowledge, but as the days went on all service members presented the same attitudes. It was as if we interrupted them from cell phone surfing. MARRIOTT really needs to evaluate this hotel, the 4 stars are so misleading. As I reviewed my bill I noticed they over charged me several hundred dollars from what my final reservations, when I called to inquire, Robin explain there is a tourism daily fee, when I explained that was not something identified, she proceeded to tell me MOST PEOPLE don’t have a issue with the fee but since you PEOPLE have ISSUES I WILL REMOVE it I was shocked at this statement along with the attitude As I have never experienced this type of issue at any Marriott. I recommend do more research and read the reviews in detail before staying here. I chose this hotel because of the 4 stars and location but never would recommend it to anyone, especially if you are of color. This hotel is directly across from the 2015 AME church shooting, and the feeling and atmosphere we received was very unfortunate All in all our vacation for first time in Charleston SC visiting the many monuments was very good But stay elsewhere not at this hotel, the rate of $200-$400 per night we paid was disappointing

Hotel let us know the night before of construction project , which has been going on for two weeks . We would have moved if we had more notice . Bad form on their part. Constant jackhammers,street noise , starting at 6am. Until late in the afternoon . Front desk girl huge attitude . Manager was kind. Too many excuses about letting guests know in advance . Was not on website either . Also, could not move rooms . Whole staff needs customer service training . Valet was excellent ! Bed was good , but trip ruined by bad employees who had cared less . Go elsewhere !

We had to request a pack n play/ crib several different ways associated with the reservation before we got it. Several minor areas in the room were in need of repairs (like a towel rack). Valet parking was very expensive and they just parked it really close and barred our access to the vehicle during our stay unless we got the keys from the valet.

For $1,000 in what is optimistically called a Delaney Terrace Suite, we got a decent hotel room, certainly not a proper suite (no separate room), everything a bit tired and frayed, no services or amenities of any kind (apart from housekeeping, which was fine), an o.k. location. Not a complete rip-off, not a complete dump, but I know from past experiences in Charleston that one should get a good deal more for a good deal less. I'd definitely look elsewhere.

- Safari728843 (4/5): A big disappointment - I'm not sure how this hotel is rated as a 4 star. It is nothing special at all. There is no restaurant or bar in the facility so if you are a Marriott Rewards member and are used to getting breakfast included, this is not the hotel for you. The location is not great (it's several blocks from downtown), the rooms are just average and it will cost you $46/night on top of the room rate to park your car. All in all, we will not return to this hotel.

What we didn’t like about the hotel was the lack of information. The staff didn’t seem either helpful or knowledgeable. In addition to that, when we called the reception desk to let them know it takes for ever for the shower to get warm or there is no shampoo in the container, no body answered the phone. The rooms are not very quiet. You can hear elevator and people’s talk in the hallway.

Room was very a loud noisy due to a vibrating sound coming from the walls and ceiling all night like someone was parked outside my window with a subwoofer in their car turned up. I got 2 hours sleep with earplugs in. I spoke to front desk 2X the next morning and was brushed of with I will let my manger know - sorry. Then I followed up with same person (2 hours later) and asked if she had talked with the manager and the response was “she is going to check on it” It has been 24 hours and I have not heard anything. Room was nice and clean and the in room amenities were nice.
