• Camille (10/5): Lovely place to stay close to the ropeway, with a comfortable, friendly ski lodge vibe. - Very friendly staff, great living space and kitchen to hang out in, and delicious breakfast. The room was quite small for the four of us but it didn't matter too much as we were out most of the time and the Inn also has a big lounge area to hang out in.

• Soon Hong (10/5): Definitely revisit here in my next Japan trip - The owner is very friendly, nearby pizza house also tasty. The rental offer is pretty good compared to renting from ski resorts directly. Very minor, the bus to train station Echigo Yuzawa is not as frequent, in some seasons, we need to wait 1hr to catch the next bus. But we are so close to ropeway to Kagura. So I dont mind much.

• Hiroshi (9/5): I enjoyed our stay at White Horse Inn. - Breakfast was quite nice, although it was basic. I like their muffins and desserts. The common room was open for 24 hours. I could use it until late at night. The dry room for ski boots and gear was effective. The room was a bit small for two people. The curtains are too thin.

• Aaron (10/5): - Our host and their staff were very welcoming and offered discounts on local onsens and ski lift tickets. I'm glad we book the breakfast as there's not a lot of local options and also the variety on offer was pleasing. Free car parking was appreciated too.

• Simon (10/5): Stunning skiing, among the easiest overnight access to Kagura ski area. Comfortable while modest. - The proximity to the nearby Mitsumata Ropeway is excellent, at around 100 metres. Wonderful family running the place, answered all my questions about White Horse Inn and the area & transport. I needed the latest check in ~21:00 and it was easy - very helpful for our late arrival! We took a taxi as we missed the last bus, route 1. Simple breakfast with decent range of options in the buffet if you chose that inclusion. The kitchen facilities do a good job for reheating type meals. This isn't a place for fancy evening meals though. Taking a 400m walk down the road gets you an few Italian style meal options in one place. At the other end of this strip-shaped village you have the onsen and restaurant/gift shop 1km away (2 bus stops). If you want better meals, you need to take the direct 20 minute bus to Echigo Station, but for good alignment with the timetable you need to eat early or take it with you. There is a knee-high bar fridge in the room so you could store a spare meal in there.

• Natalia (10/5): Fantastic the family is so kind & very informative. 1000/10 - The breakfast that served is really really good. They have a lot of Japanese variety available definitely light and if you’re hitting the slopes, perfect. The family that runs this place puts their heart and soul into it and you can see that with everything that they do. I think I came to them with 1001 questions and there was never once that they weren’t trying their absolute best to help me. They have very clear signs depicting what the expectation is for each room in their hotel. it is super important to remember you’re going into somebody else’s space and respecting that culture. They provide a ton of slippers for you to use as they follow a strict, no shoe, no boot policy. I will say the slippers do run pretty large and can be difficult to walk up the stairs in as they are narrow and tall, so it may be worth either grabbing the child size or bringing your own if you feel that it may be more comfortable for your person. I would definitely return given the chance. Also, this hotel is cash only when paying for anything on location that being said, make sure that you grab cash either at the train station, or wherever you can find an ATM. There is not one property, depending on the length of your stay, it is something to be mindful of. They also do send a really, really nice email explaining all of this and giving more in-depth measures of transportation, if you are adamant on using public transportation. Note that the bus that is mentioned really only runs frequently during the morning from the station to the stop - otherwise it’s about a ¥6000 taxi. There is truly nothing that I could have wanted more of. The hotel itself was phenomenal. However, I will say the food options on the main strip are limited, but that only poses a problem if you are only walking and staying in that local area. If you end up going to the nearby town where the train station is, there’s a lot more available again no complain complaints with the hotel whatsoever.

• TERRY (10/5): Proximity to Kagura cant be beat. Very nice hosts also - Awesome stay. Proximity to the slopes cant be beat. Its about a 3 minute walk to the ropeway gondola at Kagura Ski Resort. The hosts are super nice (and very busy!) and they always made time for me. The property has a ton of facilities, a huge common area to eat, hang out in, do laundry, play games, etc. Rooms have updated bathrooms and are very comfortable. Not the fault of the property, but in the area itself there isnt really much. The resort is located on a rather remote road, with a few buildings and then the resort. Theres an onsen about a 10 min walk away (w a hidden gem of a restaurant/cafe next door) and then another hotel has a pizza restaurant, and thats about it for food options. Better to buy your food and supplies before going up to the area, and the best option is to have a rental car.

• Thi Phuong Yen (9/5): - Room was the biggest size I've ever have in Japan. It's right next to a big ski resort as well. The bus route wasnt the best, one bus every hour or 1.5 hour and it stop running after 1830or something. If you miss the bus from the station, it's about 4500 yen to catch a taxi to the hotel. The hotel has no elevator, so be prepared to bring your luggage up the stairs if your room on the third floor. Also the heater working so well that we overheat all the time in the room haha.

• Yamamoto (9/5): Clean and large common rooms - Clean room. Clean toilet with Washlet. The Inn runs a rule that no one comes in beyond the entrance with outside shoes or boots. It kept the corridor dry and clean. The road in front was busy and I had to give a full attention when I crossed it with children wearing ski boots.
