Helpful staff All good except for lack of tea bags in the room
- Caroline (8/5): A good couple of days stay. - The location was excellent. We had one breakfast and one evening meal at the hotel, both of which were fine. The room was quite large and airy. Nothing to dislike
- Michelle (10/5): Great stay at the Red Lion in Hythe, definitely recommend - The property was a great location for our stay, it was very clean, bed was low but very comfortable, had the most amazing good nights sleep, staff were very friendly and very helpful with sorting out a cab for us. We hadn’t ordered breakfast but they were very accommodating and let us have one at short notice. Would highly recommend a stay if looking for a place to stay, also onsite parking. N/A

- George (9/5): One night stay at the Red. Lion - Good location for local access. Friendly and professional staff, good quality pub food and dining facilities set in a good pub atmosphere. Basic but clean room with all necessary facilities. There was nothing to fault
- Jackie (10/5): Lovely quiet get away - Room was very comfy with all mod cons
Only had breakfast on the Sunday, as breakfast was not available on the Saturday
We never had dinner here, as we ate out both nights, but have eaten before when we stayed and found it very nice No nothing at all, everything was all ok with our stay
- Dan (10/5): -
- steve (8/5): Exactly what it said on the tin. - Exactly as amticipated. A very British pub / B&B Nothing
- Blunt (7/5): Good but some easy to achieve improvements needed - Evening food was really good. Rooms were a good size, a reasonable selection of drinks and the staff were friendly We hired 3 rooms. Shower water pressure in room 8 was very poor. The bed headboard creaked with every move. Shower cubicle in room 5 was quite small. Seats in the bar area were really uncomfortable and/ or rickety. Noise from the kitchen fans or generator during the night was constant and disturbed sleep. Having to request breakfast the night before and the short breakfast time window resulted in us not ordering any across the 3 night stay.
- frankis (7/5): - Room was large, clean and comfortable. Shower room was large too. Very noisy and no breakfast available. I chose partly for the option to get breakfast on site.
- Pearson (7/5): -
- Aaron (3/5): - Friendly staff The bathroom was awful. Shower door barely opened enough to be able to get in. And the shower barely gave a drizzle.
- Darren (9/5): Would definitely come back to stay! - Lovely room and the staff are exceptionally welcoming! The outside noise.
- Richard (8/5): - GOOD FOOD GOOD ALL ROUND
- Pierre (8/5): -
- Pierre (7/5): - Nice food prices reasonable Nothing

Bedrooms need refurbishing
- Elaine (10/5): Such a bargain. Amazing breakfast offered for £6 each and it was delicious - Everything was spotless. Lovely atmosphere in the pub Nothing
- Williams (9/5): - Lovely room. Staff very helpful . But would definitely stay again. Bed a bit lumpy.Bit expensive as breakfast wasn't included
- Alison (10/5): Location is excellent, quick 5 minute walk into the centre the pub is exceptionally clean warm and has tea and coffee in - It’s is spotlessly clean Everything was great
- Ruth (7/5): Days enjoyable, food excellent and staff friendly. - Staff were very friendly and helpful especially when we expensive difficulties with another client. The food was very good and most enjoyable. The room was comfortable. The noise on two of the nights which continued until 6:30am on one night and banging on the wall and doors another. The staff very kindly and efficiently dealt with the situation.
- Elizabeth (10/5): -
- Susan (8/5): Lovely central location for exploring Hythe and surrounding area - Just room.booked. spacious house, clean, warm, private entrance so didn't have to go through the bar Shower wasn't very powefrul

- John (8/5): -
- Stephen (7/5): I have stayed here before. Everything was as expected. - Breakfast was good. Staff were good. Everywhere was clean. Bed had a lumpy mattress.
- Karen (6/5): Clean, central and quiet. But the bed was awful. - Tried to book in. Couldn't find anyone for a long time. The bed was extremely uncomfortable!
Couldn't sleep for about 2 hours. Just Couldn't get comfortable. Very hard mattress.
Tried to check out couldn't find anyone.
When I did find someone they were friendly. Difficulty to check in and out. Terrible bed.
- Diane (10/5): Lovely helpful staff too - Location was lovely and the room offered great value
- Gill (4/5): Very disappointed - There was no breakfast available despite it being advertised. There were no staff on the premises overnight and the street door was left unlocked potentially allowing unwanted visitors to the rooms causing a feeling of insecurity. Having paid for the room, and as two women alone, we decided we would not feel safe so, with the added inconvenience of no breakfast, we made alternative arrangements and did not use the room. We have emailed for a discount, but have had no reply.
- Steve (8/5): -
- Richard (9/5): ALL GOOD - Large room Good food
- Stefano (8/5): Semplice ma efficace - Comodo e centrale Nulla
- Gary & Carol (8/5): -
- Simon (7/5): Overnight stay for 5 tired and hungry cyclists - lovely supper - Very good dinner and breakfast - comfortable rooms and very helpful staff
- Lynn (7/5): Absolutely fine for a short stay. - Lovely location the pub is lovely. The rooms are basic but clean Tv did not work. Went to bar with remote to get new batteries but still didn’t turn on. Only staying one night so was not worth spending any more time trying to get it sorted.
- Sharon (9/5): Very food - Size of room and big comfy bef Poor water pressure and nearly warm water
- Stuart Mccauley (9/5): -

- Luke (7/5): Overall, great and would stay again - Lovely place and very comfy. Very well looked after The shower too a long time to heat up and it didn’t feel like the temperature control was too effective
- Shaun (10/5): - Fair price
Clean / Tidy room
The staff were very welcoming
Food was absolutely lovely
- eccleston (4/5): terrible - The breakfast was terrible we just left if half eaten we stayed at this pub years ago and it was fantastic but we will never go again The meals the room
- Jan (8/5): -
- Sheila (10/5): - Staff where really friendly and helpful made you feel really welcome
- patrica (4/5): -
- Stephen (2/5): Like going back to 1975 - Location It was very noisy until around 2am as my room overlooked the High Street. The shower came on intermittently and went from red hot to freezing cold. I had to have a cold shower. The decor was tired and dated.
- Trish (8/5): - Very friendly staff, good food, cosy pub. Great location for RH& D Railway. Nothing.
- Stuart (8/5): Good value - good location - Location and value for money Security to the entrance door - was told that this is always open!
- Merel (8/5): Prima verblijf! - Perfecte locatie zo onderweg naar de ferry. Leuk plaatsje. Gezellige pub.
- Maria (7/5): Great place to be - The hotel was in the centre of Hythe which is a beautiful place with nice shops and restaurants and a stunning sea front. Beware it was central. You could hear a few cars at night.
- Pauline (10/5): - Very nice, staff was lovely bed very comfortable very clean food wonderful. Bit dark in the stairwell but other then that no complaints.
- Andrew (5/5): The Red Lion was close to where I had to be but, the traffic noise spoiled it. - Comfortable bed Room and bathroom could have been cleaner. I requested a quiet room but the room I had, room 7, was at the front of the property and the traffic noise was horrendous.
- Hayley (5/5): Regretful!!! - Is in close proximity to the Port Lymph safari park, staff on arrival were friendly as was the lovely lady who served us breakfast. Beds are quite thin foam and you sink into the bed base, this was uncomfortable and really killed my back and hip. The pub had a function ongoing under our room and was extremely noisy as were the people when they left the pub/function, kids screaming. Sadly for us some of the rather drunk people from this pub migrated straight across the road to an adjacent pub which had people shouting and fighting outside. A lady who we think was called Kerry was pushing and punching a man in the face, who I believe to be her partner. Her friend then got involved and they shouted obscenities' for around an hour much to our dismay. So at around 00:30 in the morning we finally got to sleep ready for a very early start and after being in bed since 21:00 as we wanted to try get a good nights sleep.
- Marc (8/5): -
- MARK (10/5): - Friendly, good food, value for money. Handy for transport (bus), town centre shopping & seafront.
- John (9/5): Lovely location with the room being confortble and clean. - Very clean and confortable. Food was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Pub had a really niove atmosphere and was located close to the town centre and beach. Shower water flow was a lttle weak. It would have been nice not to have to ask for a iron or hairdryer.
- Helen (9/5): Great stay - Great location. Easy to find. Free parking. Fantastic food. We ate dinner and breakfast in the pub, and it was incredible. Big portions, too!! If only it wasn't two and a half hours from where I live or I would be a regular!!
- William (7/5): Excellent accommodation over a Pub - An excellent location, a no frills comfortable room. The on-site off street car parking was important for us. Proximity to Hythe town centre and nearby proximity to Rye and Hastings was great. Friendly bar staff and dog friendly in downstairs bar. Hot water in en-suite shower took a while to kick-in. My wife endured a cold shower.

- Paul (8/5): -
- Michael (8/5): - Comfortable bed
- maria (7/5): - Lovely staff, nice location, clean and comfortable bed.
Had a lovely stay.
- Smith (8/5): Comfortable and hassle free stay - Exceptionally clean and comfortable room and situated in a great location. The staff were very helpful, the facilities were just what was required and the hotel benefits from a small car park that makes a difference in such a central location. Nothing comes to mind
- Mark (9/5): -
- terry (7/5): Ok for a two night golf break - Not applicable No serious adverse comments ok for
- Clive (8/5): - Breakfast would have been better served hot instead of lukewarm.
- michael (4/5): Due to the issues with the toilet system, I was a bit disappointed and to be honest I would not return there again becau - Clean and tidy Toilet and waste system has a back flow problem as when first used the toilet found excrement in toilet and later realised that the water works backup later after the shower was used and returned the excrement back. Which I found was unacceptable.
- Bill (5/5): -
- newbury (10/5): - Staff very friendly and accommodating
- Pulley (10/5): -
- Michelle (9/5): A really great place to stay when visiting Hythe, the food is exceptional - The room was very comfortable and in a great position for the town. The breakfast was excellent and great value for money and the food we had in the evening was exceptional with a big menu to choose from. The bar and waiting staff couldn’t have been more helpful. It was quite a warm night so a fan in the bedroom would have been nice. But everything else was great.
- Alistair (7/5): -
- Payne (2/5): The key to a place is would you stay there again. We would NOT stay here again. - Location , parking and the bar facilities. I booked 2 rooms. Both were in poor condition requiring maintenance.
One bathroom had the unit under the sink kicked in, leaking shower head and stuck door. Other room had a clear issue with the plumbing. When you flush the toilet the contents of the bowl come up into the shower through the plug hole.
It’s unacceptable and a refund should be effected and those rooms be put out of action until the issue is sorted.
Terrible night, and declined breakfast as couldn’t wait to leave.
