• Kee Chuan Andrew (10/5): Peaceful remote family run ryokan. - We loved everything about this family run Ryokan Onsen. Nestled in a remote forested hillside village near gushing rivers, it was a traditional ryokan with several private onsen baths. Dinner and breakfast were great, staff were friendly and the village was peaceful.
• Sonja (10/5): Beautiful relaxing retreat in the mountains -- I will be dreaming of this stay - Really incredible stay, we wished we could have extended for an extra night. Staff were very welcoming, attentive and kind. The room was very comfortable and we had a beautiful view of the river and blooming cherry blossoms. There were several onsens indoor and outdoor onsens we could choose from. These onsens were on a first come first serve basis and you used a lock to make them private. It seems that only a few guests stay here at a time, so we never had an issue with reserving an onsen. The dinner and breakfast were really incredible. We sat next to the windows in a more closed off area of the dining room which made for a very intimate experience. The food was made from local ingredients and was a wonderful experience. I wish we could go back! Loved everything.

• Vinzenz (10/5): - The staff was very welcoming and the food was fantastic! The onsen are beautiful! There are three roads to the property. One of them is not suitable for normal sized cars, it is the one google maps prefers when arriving from yufu.

• Helen (9/5): Romantic and restful - The private onsen were wonderful. The staff were attentive and warm. Meals varied and excellent. They gave us station transfer as it's very out of the way which adds to its charm. The town and setting is very pretty. The town was too quiet and feels as if it's losing business to nearby trendy Yufuin. If you had a car it would be easy to drop into the bustle and back to the calm lovely onsen.

The location is sooo dreamy and tucked away, upon arriving you’re immediately greeted by the super kind staff who helped us park our car in front of our room. The food is indescribably good, we were blow. away by both breakfast and dinner. The onsen were incredible, we had a private one in the room and also used one of the bigger ones. Lastly, the room was spotless and was so cozy and beautiful and felt very traditional. Would love to go back!!! 10/10 recommend

• ssgii (10/5): - 유노히라역 셔틀 서비스. 직원 모두 친절함! 한국어 인사도 해주심. 한글 식사, 시설 등 이용 안내문이 있음. 마을 분위기가 고즈넉하고 평화로움! 도착한 날 오후처럼 비가 와도 좋고, 떠나던 날 오전처럼 맑아도 좋음. 석식, 조식, 셔틀시간 전 방으로 안내 전화해주시는 것도 좋았음. 수제 아이스크림이 맛있어서, 석식 디저트로 먹고 추가로 사먹었음. 다다미 방에 이불깔고 자는 것도 생각보다 편했고, 방이 시원했음. 에어컨도 잘 작동함. 헤어드라이어가 약하다는 평이 있었으나, 새 드라이어는 바람도 강하고 좋았음. 기념일이어서 석식 디저트에 레터링해주신 것 정말 감동 받았습니다 다음 유후인 여행에도 꼭 다시 올게요. 우리는 렌트를 하지 않았지만, 초행길 운전자에게 길이 어려울 것 같음. 기차와 셔틀 서비스가 잘 되어 있으니 여행자라면 자차대신 기차를 추천함 작은 동네에 있어서 숙소 주변 놀거리, 볼거리가 중요한 여행자에겐 추천하지 않음 - 쉬어가는 여행자에게는 강력 추천!

• Hannah (10/5): Delightful, relaxing ryokan with private onsen (indoor & outdoor) - Such a wonderful experience!! It was my father's first time staying at ryokan and he absolutely loved it. The property was beautiful, staff incredibly sweet and friendly, and the meals delicious. The property has indoor and outdoor private onsens. Truly a relaxing experience being in an outdoor onsen, especially in the morning. There is a free coffee machine for espressos in the lobby available at certain hours. We booked with the breakfast and kaiseki dinner included. Everything was delicious and the staff are so on top of bringing out the next course. Lovely experience tucked away in a beautiful mountain setting. Highly recommend staying here!!

• Brandi (10/5): Exceptional - We loved the atmosphere, the friendliness of the staff, the food and loved the choices of baths. We were greeted enthusiastically and shown to our room after a brief explanation of the layout and other details. It was a cute traditional style room with a little sit-down area as well as a private toilet. There is a shower in each bath, with shampoo/conditioner/body wash. It was lovely, we tried one of the larger ones at first. Tons of room and and the water was just the right heat. We tried 2 other ones during our stay and even the smaller one hd lots of space. It was also the hottest lol The food was exceptional, both dinner and breakfast. There was so much that we couldn't even finish it all but we strived to try it all at least. The fish for dinner may have been the best cooked fish I ever had. Everything was fresh and beautiful, even the plates were a feast for the eyes. The beds were futons on the floor and more comfortable than some I've slept on this trip. I would highly recommend staying here as it was an amazing peaceful break in the middle of our trip to Japan. We rented a car and even just the drive up into the mountains was spectacular.
