• Beate (10/5): Aber ich würde das die Unterkunft jederzeit weiterenpfehlen und auch selbst sehr gerne wiedekommen. - Die ruhige Lage des großzügig geschnittenen Apartements war sehr sauber und liebevoll eingerichtet. Besonders möchte ich mich bei Indra bedanken, die mir viele gute Reisetipps und mich auch in anderen Belangen sehr unterstützt hat. Aber auch alle anderen Angestellten sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Ich habe mich sehr wohlgefühlt. Herzlichen Dank Ich finde es schade, dass nur die ersten beiden Kaffeekapseln für die Nespressomaschine kostenlos sind. Jede weitere kostet 6000 Pesos. Auch der Zimmerservice ist nicht im Preis inbegriffen. Handtücher werden aber auf Wunsch gewechselt.

Loved the ice cold arrival drink and the attention to detail. Extremely comfortable bed and great air conditioning. Loved having the pool outside my door! I was only able to have one hot shower, the water remained cold for the rest. But not a big problem considering the very hot weather.

We accidentally double booked and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful in resolving it. Our apartment was huge and spacious, great WiFi for video calls, 2 lovely pools and many areas to relax. Great location in the centre of Santa Marta, with no noise so we could sleep peacefully

Sehr gute Lage und sehr hilfsbereites Personal Die Küche ist zwar gut gedacht, aber schlecht ausgestattet. Zum Kochen nicht geeignet, es reicht gerade so fürs Frühstück. Es fehlt an fast allem, an einigen Elektrogeräten, wie Mixer, Toaster, Besteck ist minimalistisch vorhanden. Der Kühlschrank ist zwar riesig, aber für was?

• catherine (10/5): Planned 2 nights, stayed 7! - El Cactus is like an oasis where you can retreat from whatever unexpected craziness your journey throws at you! It's modern; very tasteful; beautifully designed and organised; has several outdoor spaces including a swimming pool, rooftop plunge pool and even a "crows nest" den overlooking the city rooftops and cathedral. Every corner has beautiful plants, all well cared for. There are only 7 rooms; the security is great; and it all feels quite exclusive. The cherry on the top, are the friendly, attentive and very professional staff led by Indira: the perfect host ( and Luna, the immaculate cat!) It's not really a criticism, as most guests probably only stay for short periods, but the apartment kitchen is quite basic (not really equipped with utensils for cooking meals from scratch). There is a hob and microwave; a big fridge freezer; and a nespresso machine, so it's great for breakfast and "deliveroo" meals. The main Supermarket and loads of restaurants are within 5mins walk.

Aunque no tiene mal la ubicación pues el centro está a 5 minutos, las calle del entorno estaba sucia y solitaria por la noche. El precio del apartamento es un poco alto para no tener servicios como desayuno.

The flat was very clean, internet/wifi was very good (I work remotely). I stayed 1 week but could have stayed more. The pan in the kitchen was old and too small, also there was no colander which is a must have.

• Eric (8/5): Great place -- just don't stay under the pool - This is a tricky review to write. The hotel is almost a perfect 10, but our experience was not. This small resort hotel is beautiful, with two pools and a really stunning rooftop patio with views of the city. The rooms are huge apartment-style spaces with every amenity you could need. Air conditioning and endless hot water in the shower (rare on the Caribbean coast). It's very quiet, with no noise from the exterior or surrounding rooms. The owner/manager was very kind and provided a delicious drink while we checked in. Our stay was great until the rooftop pool started leaking through our ceiling. The night receptionist insisted that this was very normal & they would look into it in the morning. While the water was spreading and dripping on our bed, he said that it was very kind of me to be concerned, but they were fully booked and couldn't give us a new room or fix anything. As we furiously packed our bags and looked for a new hotel at midnight, a high-pitched alarm on the ceiling started ringing. After 10-15 minutes I eventually found the receptionist again; he returned with a ladder and hammer and smashed the alarm to pieces to make it stop. He finally woke up the owner(?) who looked horrified, apologized profusely and immediately moved us to a new room. The situation was eventually handled well, but the night receptionist was absolutely terrible and almost earned them a 1. It's located on the edge of the historic center/tourist district. This is good because the centre is incredibly loud. On the other hand it felt dark, quiet and a bit sketchy around the hotel -- so we took a cab to go to dinner rather than walking 5-6 blocks.

It was super clean, a nice large shower and lots of storage facilities and a comfy bed. The lady at the reception was super friendly, welcomed us with a free drink and explained everything well in perfect English. Also communication upfront via WhatsApp was very easy and they replied very quickly. We unfortunately only stayed one night but really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this place in Santa Marta. It’s also well located, in walking distance there are lots of restaurants etc.
• Gregory (9/5): A beautiful oasis in a cesspool of a city. Extremely nice helpful hosts. - It was a wonderful oasis with 2 pools and a very friendly helpful staff. The rooftop area was set up well with areas to cool off and relax. The rooms were very large and comfortable. We were very well taken care of there. If you have to stay in santa Marta then this is a safe relaxing place. The location is not in the nicest area of santa Marta. Once you are inside it is a relief. The whole city of santa Marta is one of the filthiest disgusting cities i have ever seen. It is sad and the leaders are going to need to do something about if if they want to see tourism grow. I loved our hotel and everyone who worked there but the city of santa Marta i would never ever go back to.

• Candice (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel is well located and has an amazing view of all of Santa Marta and the mountains. The staff is really friendly. The room is big, clean and really comfortable. The shower is amazing, hot and with pressure. You have the choice between 2 swimming pools. Highly recommend, wish I could stay more. Nothing 😊 Only a suggestion for the hotel to maybe offer an option for breakfast
• Wickes (10/5): Amazing place in an amazing location! - Everything was great, the place was clean and beautiful. I loved the rooftop pool and all the plants; it made it feel like an oasis. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, even with the language barrier.

Unfortunately was raining during our stay so we did not use swimming pool which was looking very inviting. On the roof also there is a nice jacuzzi and chilling place. Walking distance to Santa Marta center with restaurants and bars. Definitely nice place to stay. Very nice staff in reception always helpful with your requests. Unfortunately they do not provide breakfast. It is annoying me that place which has an European price in Colombia, do not provide breakfast , but charges for the cafe in the room like 1 eur. Normally you get that in most of the places for free, and especially when you do not provide breakfast. So point down here.
• Max (10/5): 5* - The room was great, so spacious and clean with great amenities, especially the kitchen area. The bed was huge and very comfortable, and the two pools were great to cool off in from the heat! Also special mention to Indira from reception who was so helpful and friendly and really helped us have a great stay! -
• Dani (10/5): Great place from where to explore the town and cool off when needed. - This was the first location that asked for a login on an external site which made me a bit nervous, also because I had just read of a scam that entailed this as part of their scheme. But after messaging my concerns to the property and to booking and both answered very quickly with their reasoning, I wasn't worried anymore. Already that first exchange was very courteous and that continued through my whole stay which I extended. Every single person on the staff was just completely professional and genuinely friendly with good recommendations for every need. Special thanks for the tip on the first night about the Lulo Restaurant. I had the room on the top floor for the first part of my stay which is just overwhelming by size and facilities. 10 steps to the pool and the terrasse to the back just being two of the most outstanding features. But also the second room I had was just grand and also with a terrasse. I had planned to go back to Santa Marta and would definitely have chose the Cactus again. My plans changed though, at least for now. Hope to be back here next year. Oh and the Cactus theme used nicely throughout the property was so befitting. Almost forgot about the location which was quiet and still close to the zona rosa and any stores you would need.

• Stacey (10/5): Exceptional - The perfect accommodation to spend time relaxing with lovely rooms and pool/ outdoor spaces to enjoy. Our room was very generous in size and had great facilities. We didn't find any noise during the nights which made sleeping very easy. The staff were always very kind and helpful.
• Zoe (10/5): Exceptional apartment stay - HOT shower, bed was so comfortable and they had a comforter to use also (as a lot of places in the area have just a top sheet due to humidity). The kitchen space was great, the mini bar was reasonably priced, and the pool areas were perfect. The entire property was squeaky clean. Purely a preference, there were two of us and only one card for the room. Not a huge issue but sometimes it’s good to have two cards just incase.

• Stephen (10/5): Fantastic Apartment in Central Santa Marta! - We absolutely loved this place! Quiet, private, spacious, comfortable, safe, clean and with excellent staff! We had a huge suite on the top floor next to a lovely little pool. Comfortable bed and one of the best showers I've had in my travels. 2 pools and lovely views from the rooftop. Marco and Indira were especially lovely and helpful. It really is the place to stay in old town of Santa Marta! Close to everything, but on a quiet street. Highly recommended and we would stay here again in a heartbeat. Nothing comes to mind.
• Gerardo (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location in the centre. Close but far enough from the chaos. Very comfortable and homely. Very very reasonably priced for what you get. I would stay there again 1000%. Bed was so comfortable too. A great great find! Only one thing. The room has blackout curtains which is amazing but there is a skylight next to the bed that shines artificial light in from 2nd floor. Kinda pointless to have all those blackout curtains. This isn’t in all rooms but it would be great to block that too.
• Bianca (10/5): - Hotel is new, rooms spacey, pool very small. Its located about 3 blocks from where the restaurants are and 6 blocks from the sea. However this area the Centro Historico is very rundown, stinky and dirty. In the morning lots of people sleep in the street. Many lots/places abandoned….
• Marvin (10/5): - After a disastrous start to my stay at another property, I found El Cactus at around midnight. They got me checked in quickly and even gave me a fruit smoothie. Every aspect of my stay was wonderful. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. For as nice as the property is, the staff is even better. Mariah was a pleasure to deal with each day and helped me out a lot (speaks English if that's your preference as well). Great location as everywhere I needed to go was a 10 minute walk, or a quick cheap can ride away. Will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Santa Marta!

• Pascal (10/5): - Another wonderful stay at the Cactus - the staff is always helpful and super friendly. We were a bit bummed out that the property discontinued their wonderful breakfast, but there are plenty of options nearby to get good Colombian breakfast, and the nespresso machine in the room is a life saver.
• Molly (10/5): - I love El Cactus - everything feels luxurious. The room was huge, the bed was comfy, the rooftop pool was perfect for lounging, & the staff was extremely helpful & solicitous. I stayed here 5-6 years ago & am happy to report it was just as good the second time!
• GREGORY (8/5): - This is a very unique property. The rooms are fantastic. If you are there for a few days though clean towels are additional. Any cleaning is additional actually. No good options on sight but good delivery options they will help you with. The entire area is very walkable.

• Raymond (9/5): An amazingly quiet central location - Although the centre of Santa Marta is incredibly noisy at night, these apartments are in a very quiet area just 5 mins walk from the centre. We stayed just one night and found the apartment to be peaceful and quiet. The apartment was spacious and the bed very comfortable. There was a fridge, microwave coffee machine etc. Also a safe. The air conditioning was really efficient. The shower was probably the best we had in a month in Colombia. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. I would definitely recommend these apartments rather than staying out of town which we had done a week earlier. Although there is no restaurant there are plenty of cafés around for breakfast. A kettle would have been a helpful addition.

Maria was perfect and the rest of the staff and security were extremely professional and very kind. The apartment is spacious, bed is comfortable, and the experience was simply unforgettable. I will be back and simply cannot wait!

It was far away enough from all the action and noise but close enough for us to get to when needed. We also enjoyed the pools. The water was perfect! We didn't like that we couldn't have breakfast (although we went out and bought provisions to cook breakfast in the room). All the reviews spoke about how great the breakfast was. Upon arrival we were informed that you do not have meals anymore.
