Guest Reviews
- Anna (10/5): A beautiful guest house in a delightful Portland neighbourhood. - This is an incredibly beautiful old building. Such a pleasure to be able to stay here. Communication from the property manager was excellent and self check in went very smoothly. We especially loved the room furnishings and our little balcony.
- Deborah (9/5): Great location with thoughtful amenities - I appreciate having the breakfast selection to make my trip easier. The baked goods, yogurt, and hard boiled eggs are great. Although it is located right off of a busy street, it is set back and very private. The parking is amazing - a small lot right on the property off the street. Some of the refrigerator options were low on both days (like OJ) and there was no cereal option without sugar, which I have to limit for health reasons. The inside of the property is well kept and clean, but the patio and exterior of the building is a bit run down.
- benjamin (9/5): -
- Kendra (10/5): -
- Nubia (10/5): The stay was comfortable and peaceful. - Beautiful and well kept. Worth it to come back.
- Fanlo (10/5): - quiet and private, i loved the help yourself continental breakfast! such great healthy options
- David (9/5): A great place to stay; we'll recommend it to our friends. - The Evermore Guesthouse had a great location for us, very close to the friends we were visiting and within walking distance to the Hawthorne and Division commercial areas. The staff were accommodating and it was nice to have the continental breakfast. no complaints.
- Lelia (10/5): Best anniversary trip ever - I loved the location, the communication of staff was excellent, the atmosphere was outstanding, it was quiet and very welcoming. Nothing. I am looking forward to my next stay.
- Brenda (9/5): -
- Tracy (7/5): Great location, would return. - Excellent location close to Division shopping and dining. Very safe area and loved the free off street parking. The pillows were very thick and the bagels weee quite hard/stale.
- Maria (8/5): We really enjoyed both guesthouses. - We loved the kitchen and snacks. The sitting room in our suite was lovely. Nice bathroom. The balcony needed to be pressure washed and painted. The plaster needs to be repaired on the rail on the entrance. This made us sad because the inside was so lovely.
- Jack (8/5): Nice rooms in beautiful home. - Great staff, (Natalie). Comfortable, nice big room. Great shower! Lighting outside was not good. Stairs to third floor, difficult to say the least. To get into the driveway from a very busy street, not easy.
- Annie (10/5): -
- Frank (9/5): Great stay - Wonderful old mansion with lots of character in a nice part of Portland. Easy access to the city. Off street parking was nice to have. Nice continental breakfast options in the morning. Bed very comfortable and room spacious.
- Marcello (9/5): - Been staying several times in the last years.
Love the location, the rooms and breakfast. price keeps going up quite steeply
- Belletieri (10/5): Comfortable stay, short walk to SE Division shops - I stayed in a king suite, and it was just perfectly cozy.
- Linda (9/5): Lovely stay in a grand home. - It is a beautiful stately home. Continental breakfast was diverse in choice, and the coffee was set up. I had a suite that had a nice desk, skylight, and mini porch. It had no hand railing at the entrance and the steps were quite high. I think there may have been a rear entrance but didn’t access it which I probably should have.
- Charles (10/5): - Breakfast food in kitchen available any time. Stairs to third floor might be a problem. No elevator. Otherwise very comfortable.
- Roger (10/5): - Very welcoming guesthouse in a traditional style with beautiful stained glass windows and spacious common areas. Rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. Delightful host and great self-serve breakfast. Very convenient location in this SE part of Portland
- John (10/5): - Very charming bed and breakfast with gorgeous interior/exterior. Extremely well located for a quick stroll around the neighborhood and communicative staff.
Thank you for having me and will certainly book again!
- Ronald (10/5): -
- Tom (10/5): - Rooms with character, easy access to areas we wanted to visit.
- James (10/5): - Location was super for access to restaurants and such. Balcony was nice for evening happy hour.
- Jennifer (10/5): - I was looking for a nice place to stay near my daughter in the Hawthorne neighborhood, and Evermore Guesthouse turned out to be the perfect spot. The location made it easy to come and go, my room was peaceful and quiet, and I especially appreciated the 24-hour kitchen stocked with bagels, pastries, cereals, granola bars, hard-boiled eggs, tea, coffee, juice and more. I’ll definitely be staying here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
- Gordon (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at Evermore. We met some very interesting guests. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Evermore is in a very interesting neighborhood with lots of restaurants and things to do. Lots of space for parking-we would walk the neighborhood and felt safe. Highly recommend this place!
- Jennifer (10/5): - The location and parking were great. Very quiet
- Jennifer (9/5): Great night out in the city - Great location, private location, surprisingly quiet Carpet in the bedrooms
- Kornelis (9/5): A wonderful stay in Portland - The Evermore Guesthouse was our first stop on our trip through the American Northwest and we found it a great place to relax and recover from our jetlag. The room was very large and, despite the heat, cool and comfortable. The house itself is beautiful and we felt right at home.
The property is close (within walking distance) to a street with restaurants, some shops and a few food carts (Division Street). It’s also well accessible from the main road and we found ourselves in downtown Portland in no time at all. There was plenty of parking at the property.
There are many options for breakfast and you can decide to eat at a larger dinner table (like we did), so you can strike up a conversation with fellow travelers. Our room faced the main road (Chavez Blvd) and there was quite a bit of street noise coming in, I had to use earplugs to be able to sleep. There are also rooms on a much quieter dead-end Clinton Streete.
We didn’t mind, but you do have to do your own washing up after breakfast.
- William C (10/5): Comfortable and Cool 😎 - A quiet, calm, easy place to stay and enjoy!
- JIneen (10/5): - It was just a place to sleep before I flew out. I got in late and everything was set up for me.
Breakfast was continental, with cereal, toast and hard-boiled eggs. Perfect for vacationers.
- Nicola (10/5): - What a spectacular house! My room on the 3rd floor was big, and it was connected to a private balcony accessed through french doors. The woodwork and stained glass in the house was gorgeous. I was sad to leave
- Kathleen (10/5): - There were so many nice touches and amenities! It was a great feature for us to be able to put a breakfast together with what was in the kitchen.
My only negative is our bed did not have a top sheet.
- Karen (10/5): - We loved that they were ready for us! I loved the "help yourself" kitchen access. We enjoyed the lovely visitors who helped us oldies with our luggage as well as all who shared their adventures with us.
- Kathryn (10/5): Fantastic! - Beautiful house built in 1901. Stained glass. Fantastic rooms and beds.
- Amanda (10/5): - Spacious, pristine interior, thoughtful room design and amenities. It’s in a quiet area, but easily walkable to a bustling neighborhood and mass transit. Stay includes laundry.
It was an extremely comfortable place to rest and be.
*highly recommend*
- Richard (7/5): Convenient location with well stocked kitchen, but everything is self service. - It was comfortable & clean. Having the laundry facility was convenient. Location was central. Too much traffic noise, everything is self service, including doing your own dishes. No welcome cookies or water bottles. Shower/ bathtub was difficult to access.
- Jill (9/5): -
- Brian (10/5): - Beautiful, unique house in a lovely part of town.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Easy parking, beautiful treehouse like room, friendly guests.
- Deborah (10/5): Wonderful high end vintage property at a reasonable price - The property is every bit as nice as a large high end vintage hotel. The upgrades such as mini split AC, windows, bath and private kitchen were top quality. The rooms were large, exceptionally clean and very comfortable. The pillows and linens were new, of great quality and very comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and the shower was stand alone and very nice. The location was surprisingly quiet given that it is next to a busy street and is set back enough with mature trees to allow for maximum privacy. The breakfast was a good combination of fresh and prepared food that was available on demand. Parking was safe, private and right next to the room. The exterior of the property could use some TLC, but it did not at all detract from my stay.
- Beverly (9/5): Superb - Elegant property, large comfortable room.
Quiet and peaceful despite traffic outside
Wonderful parking provided!
Nice breakfast choices
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kim (7/5): Good - The breakfast choices were pleasant and accessibility to snacks and coffee was "homey". Loved the stained glass and artwork. Nicely appointed rooms and common areas.
Robes in closet were a luxury touch.
Very quaint and quiet experience with history.
Parking was free and plentiful. No TV in the rooms or common areas.
I am not a fan of "older" homes.
- Mcdade (10/5): Excellent as always. We will continue to stay there any time we are in Portland. - Evermore is a grand old house, beautifully maintained and welcoming.
- Abigail (10/5): Relaxing and romantic stay - It was charming and clean. Loved the historic feel of it but with modern amenities. It is on a pretty busy street so there is some street noise at night.
- Molly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lizzy10 (10/5): This is a true gem. Very comfortable stay! - This inn is truly lovely. The room was a nice size. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was good and the shower water pressure strong. The kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped with everything you need to cook with. There is a continental breakfast you can have at any time. The inn itself is beautiful with two nice communal sitting rooms and a dining room. Lovely vibe among the guests when you happen to meet in the kitchen. Highly recommend. Also good parking. I can't think of anything we didn't like. Maybe more gluten free options for breakfast.
- William (6/5): Pleasant - Location I didn't like being on the top floor. I thought the room felt cramped due to the roofline intruding into the room. I didn't really like the clawfoot bathtub.
- Parmjit (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (9/5): Evermore is a lovely guesthouse. It will be my first choice when returning to Portland. - Evermore is an early 20th century style house that has been very well maintained. The common room downstairs is lovely with several stained-glass windows. My room had a large bed, a sitting room, private bathroom with a clawfoot tub, and a balcony. There is a refrigerator in the room, while the microwave, coffee maker, and breakfast goodies are all downstairs and available 24 hours.
There's no television. I always have my tablet with me, so no problem and there are plenty of outlets. The room was surprisingly quiet too. I hardly ever heard the other guests. Parking was amazing. It's off the street behind the house, accessible by both streets. There was nothing I didn't like. I'll be back.
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kimberly (10/5): Charming and Comfortable - Charming and comfortable! Lovely rooms and amenities in a great location. We always enjoy our stay here and will be back.
- Barbra (10/5): - Easy check-in, super quiet and clean, character building in a convenient location.
- Sophia (10/5): - Beautiful stained glass. Kitchen well stalked. Other guest friendly.
- Theresa (10/5): Exceptional - Very characterful in a charming way. Spacious, clean and the layout has a nice flow. Love everything
- Elaine (10/5): - Beautiful house that's impeccably clean. Comfortable surroundings and wonderful array of (self serve) breakfast foods and snacks. Really felt like home away from home.
- Laura (10/5): Beautiful home, lovely rooms, a great 'boutique' experience with good amenities at very fair rates. - Excellent location near many shops/restaurants/activities. Evermore is a gorgeous old house that has been converted to a guesthouse, - if you like 'boutique' stays, you'll love it. The onsite parking is a huge plus, and access is amazingly simple - you'll receive an entry code before arriving, then simply enter and go to your (lovely) room where you'll find a guide with instructions/information for your stay. Guests have full run of the house, so it's very similar to an 'entire property' Airbnb rental. The breakfast is self-service, so no need to get up early to make a certain timeframe or lose it. Rooms are spacious; the one I stayed in had a desk area, sofa area, an outdoor seating porch, and a large ensuite bathroom with a clawfoot tub. The owner/managers are onsite in an office room, but other than chatting about the house, I didn't feel any need for assistance. All in all, it felt a lot like having a spare home in another city - just show up and stay. And the rates are great - I compared with a newer self-serve hotel stay (the Kenton), and for the same price The Evermore had so much more. Nothing.
- Lee (7/5): Good - I liked the location and the common areas. Breakfast options were the same daily. Being there 7 days, this could have had variety.
- Lori (10/5): - Just a lovely place to stay in a great little neighborhood. Very comfortable. I’ve stayed multiple times and will be back.
- Fred (10/5): Exceptional - Authenticity of the place, location to my family, comfort of the room and wide selection of breakfast choices,
- Shelby (10/5): Would stay again - Very clean! Close to a lot of things within walking distance. Lovely breakfast available as well. The room is comfy and has everything you would need. Good amount of parking as well. The house is really beautiful!
- Ashlie (10/5): - Place was well tended to. Staff was responsive. Very comfortable. Good selection of breakfast options.
- Johanna (8/5): Lovely Victorian home in a quaint neighborhood. - Comfy bed and large bathroom. Loud road nearby and thin walls.
- Joanna (9/5): If you have a car, stay here! - Natalie, our host, was lovely.
The room was spacious and well-equipped.
Self-serve breakfast was very good, better than the terrible breakfast buffets that so many chain hotels serve.
Walking distance to Division, which has wonderful restaurants, shops, and bars.
Fantastic value! NA
- Cathy (5/5): Mediocre. - Not in center city Portland No outside signage. Not easy to locate. In a very busy highway. I should not have to clean up after myself and wash dishes for $200 a night stay.
- James (9/5): A lovely large and beautiful Victorian house close to restaurants and shops. -
- Janis (9/5): Superb - Beautiful stain glass windows!
- chris (10/5): - The house was so great! They had most anything you might want for breakfast and the area felt safe. I loved that they had a parking area! Beautiful house!
- Margaret (8/5): - Likes: near restaurants, self serve breakfast, cozy room.
Dislikes: traffic noise, I was placed on the 3rd floor and was way too many stairs for me to navigate, no tv, beds need mattress topper for comfort, too heavy of a duvet for summer sleeping, mirrors are hung way to high for a 5'3" person.
- Ben (9/5): Superb -
- Verified traveler (8/5): Historic property, some drawbacks - Fantastic place, central A/C on arrival had room at refrigerator temperature. Had to open windows to hot outside air to get comfortable. Not totally comfortable with high side claw foot tub as shower.
- Deonna (10/5): Lovely home, comfortable accommodations, with a good location. - The house is stunning. The room was very comfortable. The “kitchen” was open 24/7 for snacking or an early breakfast. My husband and I walked the neighborhood and discovered a community garden, a place to have a draft beer, and a busy street with restaurants and shopping. (We did not eat or shop but the location of the home is good). I am a light sleeper. I could hear some traffic on Cesar Chavez in the night.
- Sweeny (10/5): Amazingly magical - Super beautiful house inside and out, loved the decor and art on the walls! Everything was perfect
- Zachariah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Christina (10/5): - Very comfortable.
- Susan (9/5): Convenient to various day trips we took. All the guests were very friendly. - Stained glass window, outdoor spaces, breakfast options It’s an old building and a a result there was an “old” smell.
- Neil (6/5): - Best feature is location in the Divide/Clinton neighbourhood of SE Portland, with its many restaurants and shops, heritage houses and bike route. Worst feature is the high traffic street on its East side, which is noisy.
- David (10/5): Good place to stay - Met our expectations very conveniently located
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional - Very interesting old house with a lovely patio and very well organized breakfast that was mostly self-service but quite nice
- Charles (9/5): If I ever visit Portland again, I would definitely consider staying here. It was a pleasure. - The breakfast had a good variety. The chocolate chip scones were delicious. The house was beautiful with so much character. I loved the woodwork. The location was convenient. The property was very clean, quiet, and private. Nothing
- Leslie (9/5): We'll be back! - What a beautiful house! Our room was comfortable, while still keeping the old-style charm in place! We didn't avail ourselves of the continental breakfast, as we wanted a proper breakfast, but the offerings were fine. Coffee was good, but no decaf available. Available parking felt secure. Decaf coffee would have been a nice option. Some of us older folks with heart/BP issues need to steer away from caffeinated beverages!
- Brady (10/5): Best stay ever! We adore this place and the people working there. - The property was stunning in every way. It was so clean and well cared for. It was peaceful even though it’s on a busy street you would never know. The staff were so incredibly nice and friendly. They truly thought of every detail and were so mindful. We slept so well too. We were on a road trip and this was our third and final stop and it was the best sleep of all. We will most likely be moving to Portland but if we ever needed to stay somewhere there hands down we would choose the Evermore guesthouse every time. The cutest places are in walking distance too. We just loved it! There was nothing we didn’t like.
- Kris (10/5): Will return! - The Evermore is my go-to for visiting family in Portland. Lovely rooms and location. Bonus: common rooms, kitchen, and clawfoot bathtubs. The staff are super friendly and communicative.
- Athaya (10/5): Love it. - It's more like a mansion than a regular guesthouse and gives a luxurious but cozy atmosphere.
- Gretchen (10/5): - Tiffany was great!
- Cynthia (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful
- Ronald (10/5): Turn of the Century with modern convenience wel executed. - Breakfast was self serve which was fine. This is a turn of the century home that has been well resotored and was a neat place to stay. Everything was great.
- Hildur (10/5): Exceeded my expectations!!! - Everything was so nice. Place was clean and comfortable. Shared kithchen was super nice. The free breakfast was so nice and the selection was superb. Everything of the highest quality. verything was perfect
- Michael (8/5): Very comfortable - Convenient location, quiet, free parking. Ideal for what we needed.
- Marcello (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable and clean room; great pantry for breakfast; great location.
I could access my room before check in which was very appreciated after a long flight Nothing, only the price has increased steeply in the last couple of years, but it is still excellent value for money
- Kristine (10/5): My go-to in Portland - The Evermore is ever where I'll stay in Portland. The place is lovely and exactly as described——only better because it's a beautiful historic property that is well-kept and well-appointed and far more comely than rote hotels. If you are looking for comfort, ease, loveliness and commodious accommodation, the Evermore is for you. The kitchen is a real bonus, with stocked healthful snacks, breakfast fare coffee and tea, and even organic half-and-half. And the staff is friendly and communicative. The cozy reading room with fireplace, books, and games is a total score.
- Cathy (10/5): Evermore house - The house is gorgeous and so cozy. Our suite was amazing and exceptionally clean. Erika, the housekeeper, was super friendly and we had a nice time chatting with her. The breakfast was available any time as it was self serve. That was very convenient and made the mornings feel relaxed and not rushed. Also, snacks were available all the time.
- Mary (8/5): - Rated staff and services a 3 simply because no staff around, though room was clean and comfy. They say the have @ breakfast, just be aware it’s really just things you can pull from their fridge- which is ok, but don’t expect a full breakfast. Good location
- Fay (9/5): A wonderful experience, would certainly recommended . - Every thing was wonderful. The location was so good. Able to park the car & walk a few blocks for great restaurant and a few drinks. This was a surprise gift, the whole experience was amazing. Thank you. Not a thing.
- Amelie (8/5): We enjoyed our stay, with a few issues. But all places have issues. - Breakfast was certainly adequate. The fresh fruit, apples and mandarins, were on their last legs. Banana bread was delicious. Coffee was good. The house was very clean, interesting to wander through and very convenient for our purposes. Staff were nice and pleasant. As I said, the apples and mandarins needed to be refreshed. The mattress in the Hawthorne room was too hard for my taste, as were the pillows. The bathroom sink drained veeerrryyy slowly. I even think the residual soap from the shower drained up into the sink. Better lighting is needed from the steps coming down from the parking lot. As older people we worried about the moss growing on the front stairs. Slippery.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Evermore stay - Great convenient spot on the east side.
- Jocelyn (10/5): - Excellent stay - beautiful rooms and wonderful hosts. Thank you!
