Guest Reviews
- Jan (10/5): Off the beaten track - Very unique, memorable accommodation. Lovely rural location, so restful, the gardens are stunning. Loved it!!
- Rechelle and Matthew (10/5): - Such a beautiful spot, tranquility and a few Billion stars at night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was quiet and a beautiful spot. The fire was awesome on a cold night. Our kids loved the upstairs bed! The cottage was modern and contemporary. Thanks heaps
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property itself is pretty nice, but it definitely a long way off the beaten track.
Having looked for a facility in Hamilton, this is certainly not it! If you're looking for a romantic farm stay getaway this would be lovely, but if you're looking for something in town for an overnight break, this is probably not it.
No one was there to meet us as advised, and we nearly got in the car and drove off, luckily someone did come eventually and we got booked in, l;ate be at least we had a nice bed to sleep in
- Kieran (10/5): Perfect Cottage Escape - The Waterlily Gardens is a beautiful place to stay. Such a great spot to get away from it all and the amazing cottage has everything you could want. The log fire was great too!
- Michael (4/5): We are warm blooded creatures, give us HEAT! - The Waterlily Gardens was a nice please to stay but for a few issues. The unit had a small wood stove where the guest is expected to get a fire going. I spent 45 minutes getting the fire going but the heat could only be felt when standing next to it. As we are uncomfortable with leaving something burning while we sleep so we let the fire burn down before going to bed. There was portable oil-filled radiator heater that wasn’t functioning properly as you had to be right up against it to feel any heat. As the room was still very cold, we went to bed fully dressed with our coats on. There were a few other issues: no hair dryer (expected), no remote for the TV (either find the remote or get rid of the TV), CD player (who carries CDs with them on vacation? Get Bluetooth speaker).
- Joanne (10/5): Lovely long weekend - Lovely little cottages, tidy and clean. Stayed over Easter and was quiet, not set up for long stays as fry pan is tiny and there was no spatula, and a mis match number of plates. TV doesnt work well either so was hard to entertain daughter on rainy day, lots of card games. But we made do. Rachel was lovely and accommodating. Would definitely stay again, nice and close to everything. Loved seeing the rabbits hopping around. Close to Karangahake Gorge so we went early to miss the crowds.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Absolutely gorgeous cottage and surroundings. Highly recommend
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautifully set in lovely gardens it's a lovely spot of NZ. Nice and secluded so you really can get away from it all. Check in was easy and the host was very nice. The cabin had everything we needed for a night away from the kids. We had a nice walk around the gardens before sunset.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing garden, secluded. Water quality could be better
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful cottage with prestine gardens, the host was friendly and accomodating.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place to stay with family - It was a fantastic place to stay.
There is a very nice Waterlily garden and Cafe just next to the accommodation.
Karangahake gorge is just 10 mins away.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Absolutely stunning property, felt so secluded it was unreal
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This property is a little gem in Waihi, the owner Rachael was very friendly and greeted us at the gate. The Honeymoon cabin was amazing, it is located in a private setting and the views from the cabin were very nice looking at the natural beautiful trees and landscape.
- Fabien (10/5): Stunning cabin in a magnificent garden - Incredible self catering cabin in the middle of a beautifully manicured garden. Waking up with the sound of singing birds was a real treat, and we felt completely isolated even though the owners were not very far. The surrounding is breathtaking and we were advised to go to Falls Retreat for dinner, 5 min away, which was an excellent option.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - After lodging in the cities/towns on my travels the setting and cabin was a nice break from the rest of my trip. I wish I could have stayed longer! The owner was responsive and so welcoming when I arrived on the property. The gardens are beautiful and a joy to walk around and explore.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Secluded location in a beautiful garden. Perfect for unwinding from the rat-race.
- Teresa (8/5): - We loved where the property was situated; loved the gardens and the wee bush walk. The Lilypad was nestled on it's own with a lovely outlook on to the garden - providing us with the peace and privacy we like. The amenities were great and the hosts, lovely people who provided us with what we needed and then left us to it! There was nothing we disliked. However, we think an added comfy chair would be a bonus and we would have liked the oven to be a little more accessible than it was. Otherwise, fabulous :-)
- Isabella (10/5): Get away from it all! - You wouldn't have thought Waihi was so close! The host were very friendly and helpful, and then left us too it..wish we had booked for longer than one night..definitely going there again.
- Steve (10/5): Quiet and relaxing - Single night stay, Firewood on hand to keep the place warm and cozy. Would stay again, Was very wet so couldn't get to have a good look around the grounds, but sure do look like they would be amazing in the dryer months.
