Guest Reviews
- Team J (9/5): - Supremely clean, lovely host and staff, comfortable beds. Would stay here again. Nothing

- jordan (10/5): Close, cute, classy - My absolute favorite spot, very traditional and the grandmother that runs it is very nice to me Nothin
- CHIA HSIN (10/5):
- Amber (10/5): Amazing! - Amazing staff location, room and overall experience. Highly recommend!!

- Wannacha (8/5): - I had a lovely stay and particularly enjoyed the warm welcome from the staff. The homey atmosphere and the refillable onigiri for breakfast were wonderful touches, and the spacious parking made arrival very easy. I enjoyed my stay, but I wasn't aware beforehand that the facility does not have an elevator. It might be helpful to highlight this in the property description for guests with heavy luggage or mobility concerns.

- Emmanuelle (10/5): Great inn with onsen, perfect location and friendly host - The location is great, right in the center of town close to the restaurants and all the buses. The room is very big, the ski room and drying room downstairs is very convenient. Breakfast is included. The host is very hospitable and friendly. The little onsen in the basement is great after a day of skiing. There were no private showers included in the room, you need to use the common open showers in the onsen.
- Lauren (8/5): - Staff were very kind! Great location, great value for money! They even have us onigiri for breakfast!
- Blake (10/5): Will be back - Very close to restaurants and bars. Quick walk to Gondola at Happo One. Everything was great
- Elizabeth (10/5): This is a great place to stay! - Beautiful, clean, friendly & great location. Would definitely book again.
- Hayley (10/5): Great location and lovely staff. - Exceptional location and staff were fabulous. Very lovely and kind.
- Nick (9/5): A taste of old Japan - Nice property, very central, I speak Japanese so no difficulties. They have a very simple free breakfast service.

- David (10/5): Great place to say in Hakuba to ski - Location works well.
About a 15-minute walk to the main ski gondola, Less than 5 minutes to the bus station, Around 10–15 minutes on foot to most spots in town
In December, the ski lifts next to the property were not open. We walked to the gondola instead. Not a big issue.
The lady running the place was welcoming and helpful. Gave a clear walkthrough of the property. Let us store our bags after checkout until the ski day ended.
Rooms were comfortable.
Beds were very comfortable, Pillows were just right, not too soft or too firm, Plenty of extra pillows available
The bathroom setup was better than expected for Japan. Spacious enough. Strong shower pressure. Plenty of hot water. The onsen was a highlight. Perfect after a full day of skiing
Quiet and relaxing

- Ruxandra (3/5): Will not stay here again. - Location is good. Cold, dirty room with stained bedding. We were given another electric heater when we complained about the cold but they didn’t seem too happy about it. Also the heater made a weird ticking noise when turned on so we couldn’t use it at night. The room had a very strong bad smell which I can only imagine is because the palace is extremely old and they only do surface cleaning. Value for money? Maybe for Australian tourists it seems like a good deal but for Japanese salaries it’s still quite expensive and not up to Japanese standards. Having lived in Japan for 15 years, I am quite disappointed with the whole experience. I now understand why Japanese tourists avoid Hakuba altogether. It is ridiculously overpriced and the services are terrible.

- Olga (8/5): Wonderful, cozy hotel with warm and kind staff - I had a lovely stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and always willing to help. The location is perfect — just a short walk from the bus terminal and a convenience store.
My room had tatami flooring, which I really enjoyed. It was spacious and well-equipped, with a kettle, some cookies, and a bath. The bed was Western-style and very comfortable. From the window, there was a beautiful view of the mountains.
There’s even a piano in the hotel :) And the small onsen was wonderful — I went there almost every day to warm up after long walks. Everything about this place felt relaxing and welcoming.
- Cuan (10/5): - Great cozy little inn. Stayed here for a week and would stay here again. Beds were comfy, bathroom was big enough. Very close to the bus terminal, Happo One resort and a few restaurants and bars. The onsen was very handy after long days on the slopes too. Make sure you have google translate if you need to ask the staff anything.
- Sophie (10/5): Perfect Stay - Very comfortable stay- exactly what we needed when in Hakuba. The room was clean and warm. Having a small area to sit and relax was great. Would definitely recommend.
- Josh (10/5): - Very nice staff, good heater, very nice simple rooms. Is a 2 minute walk from the main bus terminal and many food locations.
- Iris (6/5): - A friendly place but no private bathroom, only a private toilet
- Angela (10/5): - Great location, short walking distance to bus stop and restaurants. Small onsen available.
- Jonathan (10/5): - Lovely onsen and ski room in basement. Great space in rooms. Very pleasant location
- Joan (10/5): Very affordable and comfortable room - We had a great week staying here. It felt like a dorm room but had very comfortable beds and was an inexpensive choice for accommodation. The room was very clean except for the carpets. Excellent location within an easy 10 min walk to Happo One, the shuttle stop for 47 and the bus station. Many restaurant choices and supermarkets close by. I would definitely stay again.
- Chor Seng (10/5): - Great location, just down the road from the Happo bus terminal and a short distance from Happo-one resort. Lots of dining options around. Owner lady could not speak English well but was very friendly and helpful.
- Meriel (10/5): - A very comfortable an affortablw place to stay
I would be very happy to return.
- Joseph (8/5): - Good place close to ski resort
- Daniel (8/5): 4 day Happo One ski trip - We stayed for 4 nights for our ski trip to Hakuba. Ideally located for distance to bus station, literally a 3 minute walk. It’s a 10 minute walk to main Happo One gondola, manageable with ski gear.
Our twin room was spacious, area for bags and had a Japanese style table to eat. Beds super comfy. Slight cleanliness issues e.g fridge but on the whole was fine
Didn’t try the food as ate out a lot but the Lawson supermarket is 5 minutes and has everything from breakfast and decent microwave meals if needing something quick, eat floor in the hotel had a microwave situated
Overall very happy with our stay and woold stay again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff was really nice. This place was a short walk to the ski lift/bars/restaurant. This is a great place to stay if you are not looking to burn a huge hole in your wallet. I would come back here next time i go snowboarding in Hakuba.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Unfortunately I did not enjoy my stay. The location was amazing, however for the price they charge I felt as if I was staying in a backpackers hotel. The carpet was mouldy. The mini fridge was so dirty I didn’t want to put food in it. There was towels left over from the previous guests with brown marks that I hope weren’t faeces. I felt so gross after staying in the hostel. The hosts are nice, very very limited English, but still friendly. However, they do not knock in the morning to come and replace towels which was unappreciated as my partner and I were getting undressed for a shower. This hostel is very old and traditional.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Breakfast was delicious and great value. Having a drying room available for our gear was very much appreciated. The room had plenty of space for the two of us, and the tatami was comfortable. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly despite the language barrier. Would recommend staying here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Couldn’t have asked for a nicer stay. Hosts are very kind.
- Yiu Fai Dennis (8/5): - People there are very nice!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I had reservations staying in a tradition Japanese room especially after skiing all day. However the bedding was very comfortable and there were extra bed pads and blankets to increase comfort and warmth. Yummy cookies and tea right at our table too. Room view was amazing facing the beautiful Happo-one mountain. Rentals across the street and easy quick walk to bus station and shuttle pick up. Breakfast is Japanese style but good coffee and bananas, toast and rice for those of us that do not eat fish in the morning. Staff was very accommodating . Style dated but convenient location and price out way that ! Walked to dinner and bars and super fun atmosphere in these mountain towns .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The Onsen is small but the water is amazing for the skin. The family who run this Inn were super helpful and kind. Would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Conveniently located in Happo Village near the Happo bus terminal. The rooms are super spacious and kept clean and tidy. It’s a no-fuss accommodation but it served our needs perfectly. There’s also a cute little room you can use on the first floor if you want to just chill out - there was a yoga mat and foam roller which came in handy after snowboarding. They also have facilities here which we didn’t use such as a restaurant (dining room?) and onsen. For those coming in winter, there’s a drying room downstairs to store your gear. Very happy with the place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely Staff, despite language barrier. Excellent value!
