Guest Reviews
- Jodi (10/5): - Right in the heart of the town.
- Jonah (6/5): - It was conveniently located in the middle of the town.
It wasn't as clean as you would expect from a place to stay. There was pieces of cat food on the ground, holes covered by carpet. It was strange to not have any doors in the whole apartment, besides one room.
Very hot because there are only two window a/c units for a fairly large space.
- Russell (8/5): - The building could use some repair.
- melody (8/5): - Everything was perfect, except for finding the place. The address listed was for a park. We had to walk around and finally found a retail store with similar name and asked if they knew of this company. Turns out we finally found the right place to check in.
- Chad (10/5): - Great place.
- Corey (8/5): - Great location in Lava, walk minutes ti everything. Great staff, very helpful to check in.
- Sarah (8/5): Everything You Need to be Comfortable - Checking in was amazing and easy. I asked for early check-in and they made it happen. The overall structure of the place is dated and hasn’t been well maintained, but everything else was great. The beds are incredibly comfy, there was easy accessibility to several hot pots and restaurants, able to use Roku with ease, and the towels were super fresh! Would stay here again.
- Mary (8/5): - All the hotels in Lava Hot Springs are old and little beat up and Adventures Vacation rentals is not exempt from that statement however the staff at Adventures Vacation Rentals was excellent and the location just off of Main street make this property a good value.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Fair for price - Very friendly and helpful service, excellent location within walking distance to anywhere on the main stretch; kitchen was stocked with basic essentials; carpet was very gross but definitely fair lodging for the price.
- Katie (10/5): - This is one of the better stays I've had in lava. Thank you!
- Marco A (8/5): - Perfect location everything is on walking distance...
- Rebecca (4/5): - The location was great. The staff was nice.Clean sheets. The room was dirty: walls were stained covered in cob webs, filthy carpets, mouse infested cabinet in the kitchen, mouse poop in the bathroom, and it smelled bad.
- Terry (4/5): - Like that we had a window issue that was solve fast. Didnt like that the place need updates. Several places need repair. Only had bar stools no foot rest. This was an issue with me I have a knee issue need a foot rest. Needs at least on regular chair.
- Lee (10/5): - Love that it’s on Main Street within walking distance of the hot pools and shopping and eating! Could use updates but this is our second time staying here and we knew what to expect and the place is clean and comfortable and fits our family!
- Christine (6/5): - The set up of the room was very convenient for a family of four. But the room was pretty run down, and the carpet appeared really old and well worn, I didn’t really want my children playing on it….
- Rick (10/5): Lava Only Stay - This is the place where I come and stay when I am in Lava
The gal who runs it, marly is an angel, and she takes care of me and goes the extra mile to make sure I’m happy.
The rooms are simple and comfortable, and just what I need when I am wanting to be alone at a Hot Springs
- Chris (10/5): - So convenient.
located in the middle of town. easy to walk everywhere and was very nice to have your own personal parking spot
- Alonso (8/5): - We would definitely come back.
- christy (10/5): - These properties are not new, but they are practical, comfortable, and convenient. My family loves staying here.
- Rick (10/5): - Fav place
- Cammi (10/5): - I just love staying with Adventure Vacations! They always make sure we have everything we need and the trip always goes smoothly!
- Joshua (10/5): - Super cozy and convenient
- Jonas A (6/5): - Very hard to find the address during the night, confusing street name and no clear number in the properties.
- Steven (8/5): Confusing check-in, terrible WiFi - Everything was except for confusing check-in direction with no communication available. We had to ask multiple people / businesses for directions to the check-in staff. It was in a little shop that was across the street from our suite. Terrible WiFi, had to hotspot from our phones to watch TV.
- Maylyn (2/5): Not a hotel - I wouldn't call this place a hotel. First off, we got multiple emails that had different addresses for where to go. We had a really hard time figuring out where to check in and finally realized you check in at a tube rental/gift shop, then they walk you across the street and down an alley to find your apartment. The entire place has dirty carpet, including the bathrooms. It is a weird layout, and it has a basement door with no way to lock it from the inside, so zero security there. All in all it accomplished what we needed it for, a one night stay in Lava Hot Springs, but we wouldn't book here again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Beds were very uncomfortable. Desperately needs new carpeting. Bathroom was ok but needed baseboards and a deep clean of the shower. Hair dryer didn't work. Would not recommend.
- Carmen (8/5): - We stayed at the property for one night as we were heading south from Yellowstone. The town is wonderful. There are hot spring pools in the area and tons of water activities. There were many dining options and we felt very safe. The apartment was fully equipped and provided us with restful sleep. However, the stove was not functioning. This was disheartening as I have two small children who eat at all hours of the day. Other than this hiccup, we recommend this place!
- Nicholas (10/5): - great time in Lava!
- Hotflicka (6/5): - I'll start with the things I did like. I did like how close it was to everything. My family had booked the other two places right there so we were able to have a lot of us in the same area. Now to the things that could be worked on. The properties are very dated, they need updating also, it's kind of gross to have carpet in your kitchen and bathrooms. The bathroom door for the bathrooms in the bigger unit just had a shower curtain that pulls across. All in all if you want a place to be close to everything. Then you might really like this place the staff is great.
- Kristin (10/5): - We had a great stay. Right in the center of all the fun. Beds were comfortable.
- Rulon (2/5): - No air conditioning, the fans that were there were extremely dirty and only some worked. The windowsills were coated in dirt. Big holes in walls. Paint was peeling all over.
- Dixie (6/5): - Our reservation was clean, but old, and needed much repair. Holes in wall, hooks broke off, water damage on wall by shower, snack bar had edges broke off, old, walls were dirty, much repair & TLC needed. Was nice to have parking space. Cooking & dishes avaiable in kitchenette, no dish soap. Will definitely look for something better next time.
- lhamo (6/5): - We stayed there one night for memorial weekend. The location was perfect and 5 mins walk away from lava hot spring . The property seems like her old and has strange feeling inside . All the utensils, Pots and pans look very old , rusted as well. We also found some hair on the sheet. However , we didn’t use any of those . I would recommended to bring your own fitted and flat sheet and we also bought our own pillow . Location was great .
- Marco (10/5): - Really nice person
- Christine (8/5): - Nice little place with in walking distance of everything.
- Scott D (2/5): - Still waiting for a refund on my card for the second night that we cancelled due to squirrels running around in the ceiling all night making it impossible to sleep.
- Brigette (10/5): - Excellent
- Joel (8/5): - Awesome layout and so much room for our family! Would definately stay here again especially if we stayed long term. Needs a little fit and finish. Was a tad noisy in the morning below us, but none of the negatives would prevent us from coming back. My kids loved it! Thank you!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Too. Much. Carpet. - It’s hard to know what to say about this place. You’ll read a lot of different things on any of the common places for reviews. It’s a pretty old and worn down place. We stayed in the main building that up to 6 people could sleep in. It was a weird maze of dirty/stained carpet. The beds were clean, the bathrooms were clean (besides the carpet also in them), the kitchen area and its surfaces were clean (besides the carpet also ALL over it). Needless to say it would go along way to rip out all of the carpet and replace it with an easier clean option. And a quick paint job. The staff were friendly and accommodating of our needs! You’ll be staying above the gelato/espresso shop which plays really loud music until closing around 10pm; so not too big of an issue unless traveling with littles who go to bed earlier than that. Also I hope you love the smell of coffee because it’s super potent! Poor ventilation and no working windows.
- Steven (10/5): - We found the property nice and cozy. It came with a nice stove/oven, small microwave and fridge. It had a small gas stove which heated the room quit comfortably. The pricing was great and well worth it. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): I would stay here again! - We really liked staying here, very convenient location walking distance to everything. Marley was very nice and walked us to our room. We checked in at the mountain mayhem store. The room was clean and fairly spacious. Its an older charming property. The only negative thing i could say was that the heater unfortunately did not seem to work, but luckily the bed had plenty of blankets and was comfy.
- Rae Lynn (10/5): Great place. - Enjoyed our stay. Very friendly staff. Room was clean and service was great. I'd love to come back.
- Patrick (10/5): - Great stay in Lava hot springs, I liked it but beware if your not used old idaho style you shoud stay in a big city instead. The perfume smell took a little getting used to otherwise no complaints!
- Ashley (10/5): - Very nice place!! Loved it and plan on coming back!
- Brittany (4/5): - The Expedia website is wrong. The address is for check in is east main. Not main. That’s important, because if you gps main st it takes you to west main. Which is a house. The phone number wasn’t functional and the Expedia representative didn’t know how to reach the owner. We finally found the office because we stayed at one of their properties last year and went back to that area and waited for someone to walk out of another property. Last year it was seamless. We got a text from the owner with the address of our reservation and the door code. This year when we talked to the lady from the office she was very rude and couldn’t have cared less that we spent 40 minutes trying to find the place and information.
The property was nice and what we expected except for the bedroom. It smelled pretty bad. Almost like vomit. It wasn’t an overpowering smell but it definitely wasn’t ideal.
- Deborah T (10/5): - Marley was wonderful.
- Evalena (10/5): - The property was very old but charming. We very well enjoyed our stay and definitely plan on booking it again. It was a lot more spacious than we originally thought which was great.
- Kathy (10/5): - Enjoyed funky home in a very walkable area and the responsiveness of the person helping us get into the house (sorry forgot her name)
- christy (8/5): - It’s not fancy but it’s practical, convenient, and we loved it. Cute little old house. It has everything you could need, we look forward to staying here again!
- Shelley (6/5): Adequate - Flooring old. Bathroom nice and great shower.
- Shelley (6/5): Needs paint and clean flooring. - It was adequate. The carpets were filthy and the throw rugs were dirty. A paint job would help. Holes in the walls. Beds were fine. Steps to the place were really high. No doors on bathrooms. Bathrooms need upgrading. There’s a hole in the kitchen floor. Coffe pot doesn’t really work.
- Tyler (2/5): - The room is old and in disrepair. Very old carpet. Damage to walls, counters, etc. Bathroom fan does not work, and the bathroom door does not shut properly. The room did seem to be cleaned fairly well. I stayed for one night with my brother. If I had brought my wife, she would not have stayed here. Just a fair warning to future potential guests.
- Maria (10/5): - Very big and cool place good area defiantly will be going back .
- Nathan (10/5): - It's a place that we will book again we had fun, will book again for a family retreat
- Richard (10/5): - It was very clean and conveniently located
- Joseph (6/5): - Location on map is wrong.
Property is clean
Beds comfortable
Maintenance on property poor
Not one chair
- Candy (10/5): - This is an older place, but it was very comfortable! It was pretty clean and they are super friendly, Marley checked us in, walked us to the room, chatted about local planes to eat. Highly recommend.
- Tami (4/5): Lower Expectations - The Bad: you have to really lower your expectations to stay here. But let's be honest, you're staying in Lava Hot Springs, you're expectations are already low.
The Cottage is very old and needs serious repair or to be demolished and rebuilt. The floors are uneven. Everything looks original from perhaps the 1960's. There are stains on carpet and couch.
The good: they have it priced right. You get a house for the price of a hotel room. It's as clean as it possibly can be. If you're only looking for a bed to sleep in, this is perfect. Comfy and quiet. The location is only 4 blocks away from the busy main street. Perfect for walking.
We're overall disappointed with Lava Hot Springs, the town, the places to stay, there isn't much of anything.
- Kemp (2/5): - This place needs some serious work. Just really dirty and falling apart
- Stephanie (10/5): - Loved this property. Cute, rustic and cozy. Perfect for a few nights stay. Check in was easy and so was check out. Property manager is really nice, super helpful and made the weekend special. Will be returning!
- Tim (4/5): Rough one night stay - This cottage was really run down. The floor had cracks in it. You could not keep the fan over the bed at night because you could not turn off the light. The back door was open upon arrival. Beer cans in the fire pit outside. Spare blankets for couch appeared dirty. Just an overall rough stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Booked out of desperation for a fun family weekend - We booked a last minute trip to Lava Hot Springs. 97% of properties were full so we knew we wouldn't be getting a great room. We booked this room knowing it would not be the best looing room we have stayed in. Well this photo looks nothing like the room we stayed in! It needs some serious updating! There should never be carpet in a bathroom under any circumstances and the wall is falling apart from moisture. There are visible dust balls on the walls and behind the beds and floorboards. The customer service was very nice and the beds were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed resting there but didn't want to hang out anywhere near the room during the day.
- Beckie (8/5): It served our purpose - This is a cute little house and it worked well for our stay but definitely don't show up expecting 5 star accommodations. It had everything we needed, but the carpet is stained and the couch doesn't appear to be the cleanest. But when opened up to a bed it was much better there. The bed in the bedroom wasn't very comfortable, but I appreciate the addition of a mattress topper to try and help that. The linens were all clean and that was the most important part to me. The house definitely needs some upkeep as the walls are cracking, but it was cute and cozy. It is located in a quieter part of town, just outside of the busiest part of main street so that was nice. The price was affordable and we enjoyed our stay in Lava
- Verified traveler (8/5): Not too shabby - The app says there is a front desk to check in and the check in time. They are little cabins, so there is no front desk. After calling, I was told check in was across the street at a little store. She was really nice and gave us the code for the key pad.
The place itself is a little shabby. Everything is old and somewhat falling apart. There are signs on the windows to not open them or they will break and a note on the swamp cooler to not use as it's not connected. There are window coolers in the front and the back windows. There was plenty of room, kitchen and 2 bathrooms. There are no doors on the bathrooms, just a curtain.
One of the reasons I liked this place was the location. It is in the middle of everything. Coffee shop downstairs, ice cream shop and restaurant just down the road. Everything is within walking distance.I would stay here again.
- Kevin (4/5): Used to be good - Checking in was a joke. Kept taking us to the old demolished check in spot, once you find the location, she looks at you like you're an idiot. We've been coming to this place off and on for about 6 or 7 years and not much has changed on the inside. It's very affordable so it's hard to complain and it's in a convenient location. That's where the good things stop. Everything inside is either broken or old. There's only 2 dining room chairs. There was only 1 garbage bag and 1 extra roll of toilet paper for 2 bathrooms. The same hole in the kitchen floor is still there after all these years, now it has a kitchen mat "covering" it. Either the place gets beat up from the guests or they get hand me down stuff because everything is so abused but again nothing gets updated at all. As beat up as the place is, they could at least give the option to bring a dog for a fee. This was definitely a much better option when we were younger. Not a good place if you have a baby.
- Monika (6/5): - Reasonably spacious property in somewhat shabby condition. The toilet seat had a crack and the kitchen was distinctly under equipped. I believe there were precisely three dinner plates and two cereal bowls. A number of glass tumblers. One groaty frying pan. A couple of pots. Beds were comfortable.
- Eric (8/5): - This place is a strange mix of charming horrifying and spacious. There was plenty of room for our family of 5 to get a bit of space from each other at the end of the day and the full sized kitchen was a nice surprise.
The main bedroom had a nice comfy bed and the second bed was also comfy. The rest of the furniture was a mix of old and new and the general condition of the space was clearly old but clean even if some of it was a bit rough.
The fridge door had a broken shelf that made it difficult to close the door properly causing it to beep unless you made a conscious effort to close it. We didn't use the stove but it appears serviceable. The sink has some issues but is workable.
Over all we would likely stay there again even with the issues. If fancy is your thing this place is not for you but if you want a comfortable spot to use as a base for your family in a nice central location this place works well.
- Logan (10/5): - Right in the middle of town
- Xiomara (2/5): - Bait and switch. Nothing like the pictures. Property is dirty, poorly stocked and uncared for. So sad to see any house go so uncared for. Convenient location, that’s the only positive I have to say.
- Julianna (6/5): Great location, but very run down - We stayed in what was advertised as a "Family Duplex, 2 bedrooms, Kitchenette. The listing was quite deceiving as it's not actually a two bedroom duplex, it's a ONE bedroom with an extra bed in the living room area. The pictures shown in the ad did not match the actual place. It was very poorly maintained. There were water marks on the walls and ceiling, chipping paint, and overall felt very run down. On the other hand, the location was great! We loved being right in the middle of town and being able to walk to restaurants and shops. We'd love to come back and visit Lava again, but we would chose somewhere else to stay.
- Michele (6/5): - The place was in a great location. Needs new carpet, and a good cleaning, maybe paint the walls. Bathroom was great, really cold but pretty and newer. The outside area would be awesome if it was cleaned up. We had a great time. Just didn’t like the old dirty carpet.
- Shellece (10/5): - Kitchen facilities were nice to have along with the fire place.
- Sean (6/5): - Property is in a good location, it is a weird setup. Not the cleanest or best set up for the price. Over all it was ok
- Julie (6/5): - Two bedrooms, right in town. It’s an older place and could use a facelift. Snow removal around our doorway and stairs would have helped. Also, it was hard to find. “Adventure Rentals” is not on an exterior building, so we had to call the number before we could even find the place. Notes in our confirmation email would have been good.
- Cristiann (8/5): - I love this place. The rooms are nice and clean. The kitchen has everything you need. But the walk way and parking were not cleared at all. I understand that can’t be perfectly cleared of snow, but they weren’t even touched by a shovel or salted at all in almost three days. Huge hazards for literally all ages.
- Rene (6/5): - This apartment is work in progress. The ceiling was leaking, there are sink holes in the floor and the shower stalls have bad water stains. The stairs outside are dangerous and the floors need replaced. The windows are non-functioning. The good news is the place is located walking distance to anything you need including the hot springs.
- Verified traveler (4/5): No Thanks! - Old and hard to find. Not worth the money paid. It was a hole.
- Emilio (6/5): - The location was great but it does need a deep clean. Also i do believe my room got switched on me because i wanted the biggest one out of the three rooms they offer. I had booked way before some of my friends booked and i know i selected the largest one and i got the smallest room.
- Amy (4/5): - This was misleading. The address we were shown was just the rental company where you pick up your information. We were then sent to another location. The house that we were sent to was very ran down. There were cobwebs everywhere, paint was chipping, there were no towel racks in the bathroom. Instead, just a place where one was ripped out of the wall. The living room had an area where the structure of the home was sinking in. This place needs some work before it’s ready to stay in. For $190, we expected much better.
- Juliana (8/5): Comfortable for the family, but needs updates - The amount of space was fantastic for our family. The bathrooms not having doors only curtains was not the best. There were also spots where it appeared there was carpet covering a hole in the subflooring (by the toilet and dishwasher). The showers need an update as well. But overall comfortable and right where we wanted to be.
- Brittany (10/5): - Perfect little house for the family to stay in. Beautiful yard for the kids to run around in. Would highly recommend staying there and will plan to stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very family friendly. - Our family loved this place. We wished we could have stayed longer. It was right in the middle of everything. Very comfortable and plenty of sleeping areas. The few suggestions I have is making sure the door locks when you leave. It seems to have only been locking while inside. The other was there were no doors on the bathrooms. Curtains were used to separate the rooms. It worked out well for our family so it wasn't a big deal. They also have a Roku so if you need some down time you can log in and relax or just have a wit night in. We really enjoyed this place.
- Cecilia (2/5): - Terrible and out expectation, the check in person was very, very nice and she offer to give us the money back if we were unhappy, but the problem it was hotels.com lie and show false pictures about the location they advertised.
- David (8/5): - It was great to be near the river and pool. thanks
- Raychel (10/5): - We were thrilled with the bungalow! We enjoyed watching Netflix and playing cards after soaking in the hot springs and a great dinner at the local pizza place. Would come again.
- Marilyn (2/5): The worst accommodations ever! - We left after the first night. It was old, dirty, and inadequate. Uncomfortable, things did not work, no front desk, card was charged before the stay was even begun. This should not be on your list of properties. I am seeking a refund for the night I did not stay.
- Randi (10/5): - Great stay! Very friendly!
- Natalie (8/5): - Great find for Lava Hot Springs. Could use a bit of updating, but overall it was great. Perfect for our family of 4. Good kitchen to cook in. Outside dining tables, fire pit, and grill available also. Enjoyable
- Verified traveler (4/5): not very clean - Despite the staff being very kind and welcoming, the room itself smelled like old cigarette smoke and must. The walls were dirty from years of spills that had not been cleaned up, and the carpet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years.
- steven (2/5): - Building was extremely dated. Door was broken would not close and or lock. Holes in almost every wall. Heating was minimal. Water was a trickle. Hole in kitchen floor covered by a carpet.
- Rob (8/5): - I am not sure what the picture is of, but it certainly is not of the place we were put.
We were in an old building, right on Main street, with a lot of loud people walking the streets until midnight or so. To be fair, while the building was quite old, efforts had been made to make it safe and clean, and it was quite spacious. It had 2 separate bedrooms, one with a King, one with a Queen, and another 2 bunk beds in a hallway/bedroom. Full kitchen with reasonable cooking things was an unexpected nicety, as was the living room. It was right in the middle of downtown, so we parked our car (reserved space was nice) and just walked everywhere. Beds were comfy (did not try the bunk beds, but they looked well-used) and the bathrooms were clean with hot water. Several holes in the walls and patches, and the floor was pretty uneven, but we felt safe and comfortable. Being downtown, we were easy walk to restaurants and the different Hot Springs attractions. It was a nice visit, the accommodations would be nice for a small family or two couples. For the money it was great, but next time I would personally go back, but certainly do not expect something Marriott with a Motel 6 price.
- Jenni (10/5): Great service, cute Cottage - Cute and comfortable, albeit a bit rustic. Great customer service. Would stay there again.
- Robyn (10/5): - Love it and we will definitely stay there every time we go to Lava Hot Springs!
- Irena (8/5): Adventure rental rooms in lava spring idaho - Our stay was great. Room was very warm but had rusty smell. Kitchen, beds and frige was clean. Room has roof leak notice and rust mold in bathroom. Carpet was ok very thin and not very clean had small smell. However we loved our location very close to hot srpings, coffe shop and restaurants. We loved our stay here ❤
- Laurie (8/5): - Great location and fun property. Definitely older but had a lot of charm. Great for those who want
Convenience lots of space and a space to cook. Not great if you are stuck on small cosmetic problems in an old building.
- Cristiann (10/5): - You had your own area to park that was right up by your room. They redid the rooms and they look very cute. The room was cozy and the heat adjusted fast. We went in December and will definitely go again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Will this cottage fall down when you're in it? - While this little cottage was comfortable, its surprising that someone can in good conscience, rent something so worn and run down. The whole place could use a coat of paint, and in the bathroom replace the towel bar that was ripped out of the wall, broken light fixtures, and rusty medicine cabinet. Not to mention gross kitchen cabinets and uneven floors. Too embarrased to take photos. Classic case of putting lipstick on a pig.
- Cody (2/5): - This property is falsely advertised as a motel that no longer exists. I booked because if its location in front of the hot pots and instead was placed on the other side of town next to homes. No restaurants, shops etc.
Its in a run down house with poor doors that almost opened on their own, a bathroom from the 70s that doesnt drain when you take a shower, and a 20 year old bed passed off as "comfortable" because of a mattress topper....
The worst amoungst this was the location youre about 1 mile a way from where its advertised to be. Which means walking back and forth or driving.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I loved having a kitchenette. The beds were soft and comfortable. The place is a bit run down and wasnt very clean. But it is conveniently located next to everything.
- Deborah (10/5): Excellent - We had an amazing stay! The room was walking distance to everything we did! Can’t wait to come back!
