The advertised ‘kitchenette’ had a kettle and a microwave, but NO utensils - but they could be hired for CHF15….!!! We didn’t bother. The picture in the advert bore no resemblance to our room. We were disturbed throughout the night by party-like noise from another room on our corridor.

- Thi Nhu Ai (4/5): - The bathroom was quite dirty. The floors were sticky and did not feel clean. The receptionist was very nice and helpful and the location is pretty convenient to travel around Lugano.

I came early and alone to do the check in and receive the key. When we arrive late in the night, the booking was done for under 1 year old (she is 11) so just one bed was in the bedroom. They offer option to resolve and that's a good point, but the error could be in the website, or the hotel options. But definitively, the location was great to visit different and interesting areas of Lugano.

L’hotel ha la fermata del bus per Lugano centro proprio di fronte, raggiungibile anche a piedi. La struttura è pulita e ordinata così come le camere.

Mas por se tratar de um quarto com uma mini cozinha, esperava que tivesse itens como pratos, talheres e alguns itens básicos, caso quisesse preparar o próprio café da manhã.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Three night trip - Overall a good stay, the location was brilliant for walking to town and getting transport. However, hidden costs involved such as cooking equipment and cleaning equipment. Air con was a hit or miss, overall a little pricey but generally okay.

Bare minimum. We booked a queen bed, got a double. This hotel is for those looking for a bed to sleep and shower. The staff were great- helpful.

Ao entrar no elevador, na lavanderia(maravilhosa opção), no seu quarto ou até na porta principal dependendo do horário, é tudo acionado pelas chaves on line no seu celular. O meu espaço era melhor do que da foto, Linda vista, amei tudo!

Our room had 2 beds and a small kitchenette with almost no dishes (so if you want to actually use the kitchenette you’ll need to bring your own). The stay was comfortable for the price, but rooms are on a busy street so it gets quite loud if a window is open. I would not recommend this stay to light sleepers!

- Bharata (6/5): - We stayed at this hotel for one night on our journey from Lake Como to Zurich. Website information is little misleading that this location is walkable to Lugano train station. But its 1.5 km from station, but there is bus stop opposite to the hotel. This looked like apartment coverted to hotel. very basic ameneties. Hotel staff was good and provided details for late check in, but did not give correct details about bus in the morning to go to train station. One couple helped us in the morning with bus details and we were able to reach station on time to catch 6:35 am train. It is very hard to find cab in this area. Bus is preferable, so please make sure you have enough details about bus schedules. I would not recommend this hotel until you have very short stay to catch an early train.

- Kiwimtb (4/5): Room was quite good. Breakfast was a terrible rip off. - The room was reasonable for the price. I just wrote this review to warn others about the terrible value for the breakfast. This is subcontracted to a budget cafe across the road attached to a service station. I do not want to criticise the cafe as it is very cheap but it was not an acceptable breakfast for the price we were charged. The hotel subcontracts the cafe and charges an exhorbitant mark up to the customer. Very poor value.

- A9663UPsteveg (2/5): DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL - DO NOT BOOK HERE! At least in the summer if you want to actually sleep. At least 2 of the rooms air con didn’t work, sadly including mine and it was 35c outside and in! I was rudely told by reception all the rooms had the same air con so knocked on a 3rd door on my floor and they had a lovely cool room. I even checked their air con settings vs mine. To make it all worse, the customer service was and still is worse than appalling. Repeated efforts to speak to a manager ignored. Even after I left a hand written note at reception on checkout, called twice and pointlessly filled out their post stay survey. So having tried to provide private feedback, here is my public feedback!

- jrankw (4/5): Don’t expect A/C as advertised and repugnant front desk guy - So I understand any lodging with A/C in Europe is a coin toss but decent properties and owner-operators are honest and simply state they don’t have A/C. This place is unconventionally the farthest from Swiss decency possible. They market themselves as having A/C. Room as hotter than lobby. Went to ask lobby staff (lady is nice but huh with no hair is simply repugnant). His excuse was it’s hot outside. I had to inform the gentleman that many cities around the world are hot during the summer and A/C works in all of them. He simply could care less. Owners should either thanks this guy for his service and send him off to some hostel with uncaring paying guests but any half decent hotel can’t afford this type of treatment post-Covid. This is what makes business go broke. Terrible front desk service (from the guy). Repugnant individual honestly. If you read my over 110 reviews you’ll note I never have harsh words for people. This guy deserves them.
- Diego (6/5): - Location is great. Very close to the lake and the train station. The AC barely works and when asked the staff for help, since it was 9:28 p.m. and they leave at 9:30 p.m., the guy had attitude. Lugano gets really hot in the summer, a proper AC is needed.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Basic. One step above a hostel - Staff were very friendly and helpful but that’s the only nice thing to say. Parking was very far from the hotel and not easy to find. A long walk after a long day. The AC in the room did not work well so the room was very warm. The shower head fell down multiply when using it and the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor. Several lights in the room did not work and only 1 outlet was working to plug anything into.
- constanca-reis (2/5): DO NOT RECOMMEND!! WE ENDED UP HAVING TO SLEEP ON THE FLOOR !! - I DO NOT RECOMMEND!! I can only show my displeasure. An unfit bed, with a broken base and a very uncomfortable mattress. We thought we were going to be able to rest these two nights in Lugano and it turned out to be a disappointment. We ended up having to sleep on the floor due to the lack of prepared conditions. The manager claims to provide quality service and book rooms with conditions…and we received a room with a broken bed. How is it possible to rest and have a good night? After the complaint was made to the same, as well as the booking, they say they can do nothing, and worse, they only made the refund for the second night when we said we were going to call the police. The lack of consideration for guests is enormous to the point of providing this type of service. We definitely DO NOT recommend! Make your reservation at another hotel! This situation really only demonstrates the character and values of those in charge and managers of this hotel.
- Dominic (6/5): Friendly staff - Overall to expensive - We stayed in Lugano for a wekeend and found the Guest House on hotels.com. Although the hotel cliamed to have free parking, we were then informed that free parking is blue zone opposite the accommodation and parking on premises is at extra cost. The guy at the reception was very friendly and allowed for an early check-in, handed out a map of Lugano and helped with any other questions. The room itself included a very tiny bed which was rather uncomfortable, a kitchen with no equipment but a kettle including stains and two paper cups. The room was decently clean but the towels still included the last tenants make-up stains so was unfortunately very unpleasant. Overall it is a good alternative for a quick stay in Lugano. However, for that price it might make sense to add a little budget and actually take an actual hotel room.
- mandijt (2/5): Ripped off.... - I booked this hotel through booking.com when Covid hit they suddenly debited my credit card. I've been in contact with both parties and keep getting fobbed off. It has been a year now that I've been waiting for this refund. Stay away from both. I will be contacting them every day until I get my refund now. Useless and very disappointing.
- Christen (10/5): Great experience! - Really enjoyed the stat at the Lugano Guesthouse. Super friendly staff and great location only 10 min from city center. Will defiantly go back when visiting Lugano again :)
- gd16036 (8/5): Perfect for a short break - We were pleasantly surprised by the GuestHouse when we stayed in Lugano for a few nights. It is well located between the train station and the centre of town. The rooms are spacious and welcoming. We had two triple rooms and there seemed to be some differences between the two rooms, for example, my friend's room had more pillows than we had - I would have liked another pillow on my bed. The rooms were clean, apart from a little bit of rubbish in the wardrobes. I would have also liked an extra bin in the bathroom as it meant we had to use the kitchen bin. It seems a bit silly to charge 15.- for kitchen equipment when the rooms all come with kitchen, but 15.- isn't a ridiculous amount of money. The coffee in the sachets was delicious but it would be nice if there was milk/cream on the trays too. The hotel felt safe in relation to COVID-19 with masks to be worn in the hotel, screens in reception and plenty of hand sanitiser available. Staff were very friendly and happy to help. Overall, the GuestHouse was a pleasant stay and we could recommend/visit again. Thank you. :)
- Traveller_00727 (6/5): Average to OK - The rooms were of descent size. The check in was also quite fast. Got all the information i needed to explore the area. The staff were generally good and helpful when needed. The problem was not enough parking place which means you either park in central place .5 km away (CHF 25 / day) or paid parking on the streets depending on availability. Also i found the bathroom was small. Also worth mentioning that there is no staff from 10 PM to 8:30 AM if you run into a trouble. Everything else as per expectation.
- DanielDeCariaRamos (2/5): Horrible receptionist, worst treatment of my life - The hotel is ok, very simple, nothing special but fairly priced for the city. The receptionist though was a nightmare, worst treatment I've ever had. I booked a specific room which apparently was either no longer available or for which the bed option selected in Booking.com was not guaranteed. Upon receiving a message noting that my option was not available (a slightly more expensive version), I asked whether I would then be charged for the cheaper version. I received a brisk, rude answer saying that if I wished I should cancel the reservation and book another room. I did so. Upon arriving at the hotel, I had no intention of raising the issue, but the receptionist immediately mentioned that it seemed I didn't like the room, cancelled and then re-booked, as if I had done something wrong. I tried to explain I did not like the answer and that there seemed to be something unclear in the booking option, upon which she, exasperated, started discussing with me, saying I was wrong and that the hotel had no obligation to ensure my option was adopted, going as far as recovering the email and trying to prove I was wrong and that they had done nothing wrong. All of this while other clients waited, baffled, to make their own check-in. I decided to end the conversation, but it puzzles me how could a hotel receptionist decide to be so rude and angry with a client who simply said they did not like their booking experience. Clearly in this hotel clients are not the first concern. The hotel is one of the few mid-range priced hotels in the region, but you would still expect to be well treated. It was one of the only with vacancies at the time and now I know why.
- Gillianwats (2/5): An Expensive Hostel - do not try and do Laundry - My husband and I are currently doing a small tour via motorcycle around Europe. Because we are on motorcycles we pack light and do laundry as we travel, hence the reason for us to book this place as it offered Landry services. The washing machine part is fine, free of charge and they provide the washing powder. The drivers, on the other hand, are ridiculously slow. After talking to another family using the facilities whose wash was not even remotely dry after 3 hours I became very concerned as it was 18:30 at night and the laundry room closed at 21:30. After speaking to a staff member about my concerns, he kindly removed his own laundry from a drier so we could out our stuff in. Long story short, after 3 hours in the drier and after our very basic and cheap room looking like a chinese laundry all night, my husband has to ride with damp clothes today. To add the icing on the cake, this morning we are leaving early and have lots of bags including tent etc to take down 3 floors to pack up the bike and the lift is out. This place is not cheap for what you get. Unmanned most of the day. I would avoid at all costs
- Gillian (2/5): ittle more than a bad hostel - do not do laundry! - Little more than a hostel - do not use the laundry as our clothes were in the drier for 3 hours and still not dry - husbands had to wear wet jeans. Service rubbish, accommodation cheap but not a cheap price. Icing on the cake this morning the lift is out of action. I would not recommend staying here
- mephistog (2/5): Quite unsatisfied - The Guesthouse is some kind of Apartment-Hotel. With a very small kitchen. No breakfast or any meal can be purchased. The kitchen has nothing to be used, unless you pay for it (CHF 15). And not even some soap to do the dishes or a sponge. That you have to buy yourself. And if you don’t clean the kitchen thoroughly, you have to pay a fine of CHF 25. The room for two people is so small, everything so narrow. Everything is IKEA low quality. No TV, no internet. The rooms are not clean either, I had dust allergy the entire time. And the rooms are not cleaned every day, unless you pay (CHF 12). Only every 5 days or when you leave. There is a small parking place, belonging to the hotel, you need to reserve. And you have to pay (CHF 20 per day) for having the car outside next to the hotel. The room was also very noisy, located next to the street. The reception times are very narrow too, from 8 to 12 and from 15:30 to 21:30. Outside these times they give a phone number to call in case of emergency. I went once to the reception at 8:20 and no one was there. I called the phone number 3 times and no one picked up. We booked the hotel with the promise that it is located very close to Lugano city center. We had to take a bus every day to reach the city center. 7 bus stops or 20 min walk. In my opinion, they do everything to take money from you. I’m not coming to this hotel again.

Suddenly extra charges appear for cuttlery and kitchen utensils... becuase they have to disinfect the utensils, menawhile they still were dirty and i had to buy cleaning utensils anddo it by myself. Very dirty room without tv and a horrible bed! The balcony is used by all people on the same floor and the windows are defective. The ac is blowing hot air....
- robbyzobo (8/5): Perfectly located and organized. - The Lugano Center Guesthouse, is very well located and served by buses to and from the main Rail Station. The lobby area is clean and furnished well, with also automatic dispenser machines. Very handy also the little market by the Gas station literally 30 meters across the road. Reception staff extremely friendly and helpful, fast WI-FI connectivity. The rooms are very clean, furnished with a small kitchenette, toilet and shower also clean and with some basic amenities. Coffe, tea and soluble chocolate provided. Very efficient sound proof windows. The TV was not available, a little downside to the all package to receive 5 points.
- Meike_Ka_9 (8/5): Completely fine - We came with friends and stayed for one night. The location is very good, it is only a few minute walk to the lake and a bus station directly at the hotel that takes you to the central station. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were small and rather dark but clean and there was a small kitchen so we could have our own breakfast which was very convenient. Overall we were satisfied for that price!

- OWENA (8/5): - Liked our stay at Lugano Guest House. Beds were comfortable and coems with a mini kitchenette. Conviniently located. Within walking minutes to grocery store and convenient store. What I like most is the Lufano lake which is just within few minutes walk. The hotel also give free ticket for transport but I had not used it. Mybe in my next visit

Parking could be a bit difficult, as there are no private parking areas for you, but all of the parking available is within a close walk (~5mins) to the Lugano Guest House.
