Guest Reviews
- Einon_E_Mouse (10/5): Slice of rose-scented heaven. - We stayed at Domaine de la Roseraie for two nights of relaxation after a hectic (but unforgettable) Sahara Desert trip, and it was the perfect place to unwind.
Tucked away in the peaceful foothills of Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains, this beautiful retreat feels like stepping into a dream. Just an hour from Marrakech, it offers a welcome escape from the city, with fresh mountain air and stunning views creating an immediate sense of calm.
The grounds are truly special—filled with thousands of blooming rose bushes, olive groves, and lush orchards. It’s easy to lose track of time simply wandering around. The cottage-style rooms are full of charm, decorated with traditional Moroccan touches, and each has a private patio or balcony that’s perfect for slow mornings or relaxing at sunset.
Days here are wonderfully unhurried. You can enjoy a swim in one of the pools, unwind in the hammam, or simply relax and take in the surroundings. There are also opportunities for horse riding and scenic walks through the nearby valleys, and even some friendly donkeys adding to the charm. The viewpoint overlooking Ouirgane Lake is particularly beautiful.
The evening meals deserve a special mention - high quality restaurant standard on both nights. 10/10.
What really sets this place apart is its atmosphere. As a family-run hotel, there’s a genuine sense of care, sustainability, and connection to the local environment.
Overall, a peaceful and memorable stay—an ideal place to recharge and experience a slower, more tranquil side of Morocco.

- Michael George (10/5): A true oasis that makes you feel like you've escaped to another world. - The property is unbelievable. It is massive, and there's so much to explore. We spent two of our days largely not leaving the property and just enjoying the serenity of the gardens & surrounding canyons. You can tell how much time and care is put into the grounds. Also the breakfast!!! Incredible. So many breads and spreads and the staff is delightfully attentive without being overbearing.
- Patricia (9/5): Lovely stay in a beautiful hotel ! - Very pretty hotel, lovely decorated on a lovely property in a beautiful setting ; surrounded by mountains covered with snow . Very nice and quiet place, we enjoyed very much the tranquility of the hotel. During our stay there were few other guests ( because of Ramadan and early season ) , so I don’tknow how it is when there are much more guests ( there are over 40 rooms I believe) . Really a very nice hotel, gorgeous place. So little or nothing to complain about. We had a junior suite, a small coffee machine in the room would have been nice maybe. Curiously, the room had no shower, only a bath with a handshower.
- Travelaround59 (6/5): Very torn about the score I gave to this hotel, sorry! - I am afraid I have been thinking about the score for this hotel for 2 days but…my experience has been rather average.
First the positives: the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful and the diner was first notch. The gardens are absolutely magic also in winter so I can only imagine the beauty in spring with the thousands of roses blooming.
Negatives: warm shower, patchy Wi-Fi and TV and telephone non working. Frankly a patchy Wi-Fi with a war raging in the Middle East and our flights going through there was a bit stressful. Also probably because they are preparing for the season everything seems a bit “hit and miss”….pity but I am sure that my opinion is only related to the off season stay.

- Rhianon (7/5): -

- 676dwightt (10/5): The perfect place to relax and reconnect with nature - During the Thanksgiving holiday, I stayed at Domaine de la Roseraie. The experience was exceptional, and I confidently recommend the Roseraie as an ideal starting point for visitors to Morocco interested in relaxation, cultural exploration, and experiencing local hospitality. The proprietor, Nabil, along with his staff, provide attentive service and demonstrate genuine hospitality. The Thanksgiving dinner, which included traditional elements such as cranberry sauce, was notable for its quality. Enjoying Moroccan tea in a tranquil setting and walking through the gardens to appreciate the flora and fragrances contributed significantly to the overall positive impression of my visit.
- Lorna (9/5): Old world charm and great service - The garden environment of this hotel is very special and the pool and bar area are lovely. The evenings were cold in November but everywhere felt very cosy with roaring fires. We really enjoyed the dinners (set price for 3 courses with a choice of 3 options for each course). Interesting and tasty dishes and very good value. The large and comfortable beds and the very peaceful environment gave us great sleeps. We loved the history and old world charm of this hotel. The staff were very attentive and caring and made our stay easy and enjoyable. The bathroom was looking a bit old.
- Carolyn (7/5): A fabulous place to stay, better food would have us hurrying back - The location is stunning and the grounds of the hotel very beautiful indeed. The staff are charming, they lack the expertise that goes with a truly top hotel but definitely want to help. The room was extremely comfortable. We didn't eat very much, unfortunately we'd picked up travellers' tummy earlier in our holiday, but the food we did try was not quite as good as some of the reviews suggest (so maybe fine for less foody travellers than us). We were there for a major weather event and were a bit surprised to find we had neither a phone in the room nor an umbrella, I guess we could have used our mobiles to call for help, but a walk to reception during the major rainstorm would certainly have been challenging.

- allens50 (10/5): A calming retreat - A beautiful, calm retreat. We had a nicely decorated room but the highlight of this property is the setting. Beautiful grounds with a large variety of trees and flowers. Fantastic mountain vistas. Friendly staff contribute to the experience. The food is good but not great.
- Jane (8/5): Beautiful hotel and grounds and with access to walks in the hill - The pools were beautiful, as were all the grounds which were excellently maintained. The lounge area, restaurant and bar were tastefully decorated and presented. We particularly loved the bar terrace and dining room with its Moroccan decor and textiles. All the staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful and the owners clearly set high standard for them. The breakfasts were very substantial but the choice was limited and repetitive for a hotel of this standard. For example no dishes of fruits were available and those single fruits which were offered - e.g. banana were frequently overripe or underripe. We would have expected a higher standard for a hotel of this quality.
The evening meals were a bit hit and miss too - if you are not in the dining room early evening it could take a long time to be served because the waiter shows the menu to each table in rotation from a black board. There are no prices listed and we found out later that you pay the same whether you have one or three of the courses offered. The size of the portions varied widely from sufficient for one to enough for two/ three but with no indication as to how large they would be from the waiters. The food was of a good quality with some exceptionally tasty salads and desserts.
We moved rooms due to the aspect of the first room we had booked as it looked out onto dry woodland from a scruffy terrace and was very dark. The second room had no shower which was a nuisance for five nights but the aspect of the room was much more pleasant. However a locked door led from the lounge area to another room and we could hear noise from other guests staying during the day and evening and they could presumably hear us too. It was clearly meant to double up as a family suite.
- andyjgordon (10/5): Chill in the hills - One of the best places we have stayed. You can chill, hike, mountain bike, whatever you want. The hotel and gardens are beautiful. Food and bar exceptional quality. Sitting on the veranda for a sundowner is the best. Pool can be cool, but a lovely quiet area.
Hotel staff will sort whatever you need. We had a local guide for hiking a few mornings.
Would love to go back…..and really hope to.
- Carolin (5/5): Eher etwas enttäuschend. - Lage gut. Keine Auswahl. Vorgegebenes Menü. Bäder ziemlich alt und nicht sehr ansprechend. Alles in allem etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Service nicht gut.
- bethanyroseG (8/5): Tranquil and relaxing - small and friendly. - My husband and I stayed here for three nights and had a lovely stay. The grounds and gardens are absolutely beautiful and the rooms are great too. Food we had onsite was lovely and plenty of it! Staff were friendly and attentive, our only negative feedback is that on arrival we weren’t shown or informed of what was available onsite - so were unaware of where the restaurant was initially, and had no idea how to access the spa. That being said - we had a great stay, was very relaxing with some great hikes and would absolutely visit again.
- GT2161 (10/5): Beautiful gardens and relaxing stay. - We enjoyed the lovely homely atmosphere and the friendly staff. The garden is exquisite and the mountains provide a beautiful backdrop. Accomodation and food were very good. Highly recommend for a tranquil stay in the high atlas.
- simonthwaites (10/5): A wonderful three night stay we’ll always remember! - We both enjoyed an understated sense of luxury while we were here. The setting is very beautiful and we found the staff (every single one) to be courteous and engaging. It’s important to us that we see the staff feeling part of the welcome and being valued and this seemed the case. The gardeners were all lovely. The food was always of very good quality (as vegetarians we felt well catered for) and the dining rooms simply beautiful. thank you to all the waiting staff for their patience and welcoming manner. Over all, well done and thank you!

- Charlotte (10/5): Relaxing, fantastic service and a bit of luxury - Beautiful hotel in a stunning location - a true oasis in the hills. Wonderful pool and beds round the pool and plenty of places to sit and read. The terrace is lovely for drinks pre and post dinner and the dining area is very charming. There is t anything else nearby I. Terms of shops/restaurants but that’s the beauty of it really - very very relaxing.
- 903dylank (4/5): Beautiful Setting, But Shockingly Dishonest & Greedy - We accompanied my husband on a work trip to Morocco, where the entire resort was booked out by production for a 10-night stay – including dinner per night, per room. This alone was a 6/7 figure sum in euros for the hotel. You’d think that would be more than enough. But no.
Instead, greed, lack of integrity, and outright dishonesty meant we walked away from a 9-night stay with a £2,000 bill.
We were charged an extra £100 per night – essentially half the price of the room again.
No kettle in the room, so you’re forced to order from the bar (with no prices shown anywhere). One complimentary water on arrival, then £5 per bottle after that.
Laundry? Over £50 for a hand-luggage-sized case.
My children, who ate virtually nothing but a yoghurt and one pancake at breakfast, were still charged £20 each per day.
A plate of plain pasta with a sprinkle of cheese? £20.
Dinner: without asking, we were served a 3-course meal (often when I only wanted one dish) – later billed at £40 each.
Meanwhile, if my husband didn’t eat because he came home late from work, that meal was still charged.
During the stay I had one coffee and two bottles of water per day. My husband – one and a half pints after a long day in the caves. Somehow this justified bar bills of £50+ per day.
Yes, the hotel itself is undeniably beautiful, as are the grounds. But the dishonesty and greed left a truly sour taste.
If you want a genuine Moroccan experience, I urge you to choose a Moroccan-owned hotel, where honesty and integrity still mean something – and not just the flashing of £££ signs in their eyes.
Absolutely disgraceful. And I’ll be letting my 2,000+ followers on social media know exactly what went on here.
- Ahtrm (10/5): Beautiful gardens - Another wonderful hotel on our mini tour in Morocco. We stayed here in order to do some short hiking in the Imlil valley, having already hiked near to Ourika. It was definitely worth having a second destination in the mountains and seeing a different valley. The hotel is ideal for this as well - with a lovely pool area to come back to after hiking (the main pool area has such comfortable loungers!) and great food. It was very quiet when we visited, so I don't know how busy the pool gets in other seasons, but we had it almost to ourselves. The gardens are absolutely beautiful. and the scent stays with you as you wander around. Rooms are a very good size.
- Mohammad (10/5): Like Arnie ‘ I will be back’ - I’m going to keep it simple ‘ a next level of luxury and relaxation.’ The word perfect would be an understatement
- Bock (9/5): Highly recommended - Beautiful grounds and gardens, beautiful surroundings and beautiful stylish rooms. Excellent food and attentive staff. Air conditioning and WiFi need to be stronger.
- John (9/5): Enjoyed our stay in a lovely hotel. - Beautiful gardens. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Good food. Hand held shower. It must be easy to fit a shower bracket on the wall!
- Caroline (7/5): Good -
- Arav (10/5): trip of famio - Location GREAT! I liked everything
- PNT40 (10/5): An idyllic location - What a beautiful place! We were driven just over an hour from Marrakech airport up into the Atlas Mountains of Ouirgane to the Domaine de la Roseraie. The gardens are incredible. Everything seemed to be in bloom in mid May when we arrived. There is such an abundance of roses with pretty walkways. There are so many lemon trees. We loved the fact that there are several swimming pools and that around the main pool you can lie on mobile beds with sprung mattresses - it was so comfortable. The weather year round in the mountains here seems ideal. Everything we tried on the restaurant menu, which changed daily, was excellent and we were surprised with the quality of the Moroccan wines on offer.
- rosebud_alley (10/5): Mountain oasis! - If you find yourself in this part of Morocco, this hotel is truly lovely! The grounds are full of roses and mountain view’s are stunning! The staff is attentive and ever present to help if you ever need it ! Stayed with a tour for 2 nights and and they had great food on sight as well!
- Thomas (7/5): Nice gardens and old charm - overpriced for its state now - The location, the beautiful gardens full of roses and flowers, the old charm of the place It need to be updated to stay in the standards of this category of hotel. The price versus the quality delivered is not appropriated now : decoration to be Improved, only one menu in the restaurant, close at 10pm, no spa…
- Sue (10/5): Will recommend this to any and all! - Don’t miss this magnificent hotel! We could not have dreamed up a more gorgeous and comfortable lodge in a botanical garden setting! The food was lovely, the pool(s) clean and well-appointed. And we were fortunate to have a guide recommended by the hotel take us on an incredible hike to some of the surrounding villages.
The rooms are clustered in small groups making for very private accommodation. And the central bar/lounge/patio is worth days of dallying with a drink and a book.
Additionally, on site one may shop in a small souk with locally and regionally made products, from souvenirs to exquisite carpets.
Don’t think twice. Get in a taxi from Marrakech and have all your dreams come true!
- Pembroke (10/5): Perhaps the Garden of Eden? - Spectacular peaceful gardens with well facilities and pairs of suites. This is set in stunning mountains but is a very rural poor area. If you like top accommodation and want to learn about the Berber community this is great. This is not a dislike but it is a fact that restaurant menus are limited like all of Morocco. Well made tagines and salads sum it up. The wine is good.
- rowsonp (8/5): An oasis with spotless rooms and beautiful gardens and pool. - Beautiful garden oasis to relax with family and friends. The room had a lovely terrace and was spotless. Whilst the rooms are a little tired that is part of the appeal but as said they keep them spotlessly clean.
The various pool areas are lovely to laze around and admire the gardens or read a book. There are also spots in the beautiful gardens to relax that are peaceful and secluded.
The food in the restaurant is delicious too.
- Ivan (9/5): Superb -
- Ruby (6/5): Nice location, not worth the high price - Absolutely gorgeous location with the plants and pools, good beds, and the food was excellent The value does not justify the high price…. Rooms were outdated (eg bathroom didnt close properly), not super clean (we had cockroaches in the room), and the staff was not at all aiming for high level service. Constantly on their phone, and if we asked for simple things like ice with our wine they really acted like we were asking a lot and look ed very bored. Concrete example is that we arrived hours after checkin time, and the room was not ready. We were pointed towards the bar without so much as a coffee to be offered, and neither did we receive any information on the resort or region. All would have been fine in a 2 or 3 star hotel but when paying more than 250 euro’s a night for a room you expect at least staff that shows a keu priority is to realize a good time
- Ros (10/5): A unique hotel - hard to fault and the most beautiful roses I’ve ever seen. A real tonic - Quiet, beautiful, great service and food Should replenish drinking water in rooms and have bedside lights
- gilld414 (10/5): Fabulous, stylish hotel - My family loved it here. Beautiful gardens and grounds. All very stylish and well kept. Spacious stylish rooms. Very good food. Three outdoor swimming pools. So many interesting spaces to explore. Service at dinner was a bit slow but meals were an experience. Very friendly helpful staff. Could have stayed much longer
- Cookster59 (10/5): Tranquil Oasis in Atlas Mountains - Domaine de la Roseraie is a peaceful retreat, perfect for those looking to relax and reconnect with nature. The gardens are stunning—including rose gardens, olive and citrus trees, palms, cacti and lot of plants I didn’t recognise. The whole place exudes calm.
The food was fresh, tasty, and clearly made with many ingredients from the kitchen garden. I also had an excellent massage in the small but charming spa—just what was needed after a hike.
Hotel staff were warm, friendly and accommodating. Bedrooms were either traditional or dated, depending on your point of view (my kids described them as ‘retro’) but they were clean and comfortable.
We took a memorable trek through the hills and nearby Berber villages with local guide, Ali, which gave us a deeper sense of the region’s beauty and culture, ending up with delicious mint tea and fresh baked bread.
Just note that there’s not much to do beyond hiking and relaxing—perfect if that’s what you’re after. Bring a good book, your walking boots, and let the quiet do the rest.
- Natalia (9/5): Gorgeous oasis - Wonderful oasis. The restaurant was also great and the staff at the bar were super. The people at reception could have been more proactive in helping us organize our atlas hike. We asked by message but were not given a lot of info and at the hotel we were told nothing.
- Heather (10/5): The location was stunning and he staff were exceptional . - Everything Nothing
- J (8/5): A charming place to stay - A special place we went back to by nostalgia
Just 1 hick
We went out for dinner once and when we came back the entrance door of the reception was locked...by chance we saw another sideway we took which took us inside the property...
But a charming place and nice furniture .
Staff very nice thank you
Television in the bedroom not working but they are in the mountains..so we can expect this...
- Edmund (9/5): Superb -
- Janette (8/5): Amazing, would definitely recommend - Peaceful, relaxed atmosphere with amazing staff No real dislikes but I do think there are opportunities to improve the property- the pool is not heated and very cold - we did not see any other guests use it because it was so cold - such a shame. Garden furniture is in need to updating.
- Roger (10/5): A Wonderful Place to Stay - Great food, wonderful bedroom with comfy bed. Everything immaculate. Friendly and efficient service. They even remembered us from a 2 night stay last year. The rose garden surrounding is marvellous and peaceful. Nothing. Everything matches or exceeds expectations.
- Shane (8/5): Relaxing few days in a beautiful resort, staff were attentive and friendly. Would return again but but love to see wider - Comfortable room. Peace and quiet. Good food. Kind staff and beautiful surroundings. Limited menu. No beers available.
- GrandTour272852 (10/5): A big thank you from my friends and me - We all enjoyed our stay with La Roseraie very much.
I am impressed with La Roseraie's encouragement of the local women's co-operative.
I loved the garden, its roses, sweet smelling jasmine, flowering arches, and bountiful fruit trees.
We were looked after beautifully by the team.
- Emma (10/5): Idyllic hotel about 1hr15 from Marrakech - The hotel setting is beautiful and absolutely peaceful. The staff are warm and welcoming. The food is very good. Walks around the estate a real pleasure. What a gorgeous place. Nothing. It’s exceptional.
- Angélique (10/5): Exceptional -
- nikily2024 (10/5): The Best of Morocco! - Amazing! My girlfriend and family members stayed here for our first night in Moroc and it did not disappoint! The staff were very friendly and helpful! The family in charge made us feel like their own family and very comfortable! Special shout out to Ines for all of her recommendations around Morocco! The absolute best! The area is beautiful rich with plant life all around! We were surrounded by amazing foliage and vegetation, true to the Moroccan heritage! The pool, the scenery, the village hikes were all 5/5. This would be the first place I recommend to anyone to relax and escape the business of Marakesh or any other busy cities in Morocco! Truly made our entire trip by spending some time here! Thank you so much!! We definitely be coming back in the spring when the roses are in full bloom!! - you literally have to stop and smell the roses :)g
- Darren (10/5): A beautiful place to relax in the Atlas Mountains - Stunning grounds and excellent service. The gardens and pool were exceptional.
- André (10/5): Domaine was a perfect place to enjoy the Atlas Mountains in a beautiful, peaceful setting. We would stay there again. - This is a beautiful property. It is peaceful and tranquil - like an oasis. The rooms are great. Staff are fabulous.
- Mohamed (9/5): Right place to relax - Friendly staff very helpful
Very quiet location
Beautiful garden
Spacious room very clean Limited menu
- Pensionerplus (10/5): Fabulous! - We came here for a relaxing last two days of our two week tour of Morocco and couldn’t have chosen a better place. Just over an hour out of Marrakech, Domaine de la Roseraie is superb in every respect.
The gardens are spectacular, full of colour (the roses are superb), full of interest, delicious scents, running water, a gardeners Shangri La!
Our room was so spacious, comfortable, quite perfect.
The central swimming pool and lounge/dining area is delightful.
The food is overall very good though breakfast was a little disappointing. As a lover of fresh fruit, the absence of any was a great surprise.
The staff were excellent, so friendly, helpful, great service.
The property covers 22 hectares, very large. One morning we went on a guided circular hike which is highly recommended, great views, a variety of terrain and concluded in the nearby village with mint tea, homemade bread, butter, and olive oil, all of which was delicious. The village has suffered serious damage from the recent earthquake so it was good to support them.
Strongly recommended.
- F7395MAjohnm (10/5): Heaven in the spring - We stayed here one night on the way across the Atlas Mountains. You want to stay here! The roses in the spring were incredible. The pool is large . The owner who was manger at La Manounia in Marakech built this hotel in one of the most spectacular verdant valleys in the foothills.
- annarU921CX (10/5): Surrounded by Roses. - Fantastic stay in the most romantic place. Wonderful, friendly hosts and staff. We had the best time and will be back. Our room was comfortable. The perfect place to spend a week or longer......
- Sally (10/5): Would go again - The gardens and position.
Plus the restaurant and pool area
- Glenys (10/5): - Beautiful room and pool. Easy walk to lake and village. Staff very friendly and willing to help but we would have appreciated some details in the room about organisational issues eg that water would not be replaced in the room but was readily available at the bar.
Would definitely recommend hotel for a quiet, restful break.
- Andrea (9/5): Beautiful hotel in lovely grounds - The hotel was lovely and the grounds beautifully looked after. With 25 hectares of land there were lots of different walks to go on without leaving the hotel. There was a nearby lake too. We had the junior suite which was huge, the bedding was really good quality and the beds very comfy. Immaculately clean. The March weather was still cool so unable to use the outdoor pool but it was nice to sit beside the pool and relax on one of the many loungers with the bar and restaurant close by. On Booking.com they had advertised an indoor heated pool and spa. They failed to mention that it was damaged in the recent earthquake and therefore closed which was a disappointment for us, (although sad for the country to have suffered such a disaster). The food was good but became a bit samey after a a few days, one too many tagines! The poolside cushions could do with an upgrade.
- Evi (8/5): Very good - Beautiful gardens and very friendly staff. We enjoyed the dining every night and trying Moroccan wine Pool too cold for us in February (it's not heated)! Some facilities not yet repaired following earthquake, eg indoor pool, spa and gym. Hope this wonderful place continues to receive guests as rebuilding cannot happen over night.
Would have loved tea and coffee facilities in room.

- Anonymous (6/5): Still nice location, but seems to seen better days. Seems a bit neglected. -
- Verified traveler (8/5): Still holding strong - Some of the damages from the earthquake are visible but the team is working on the restoration. It might be the low before the busy Christmas holiday so the hotel appears understaff. But the staff were attentive to issues such as the lack of hot water in one of the nights.
- Michael (8/5): Overall great and would recommend - Beautiful setting and gardens. lovely staff, & very comfortable rooms. Dinner was very good. Breakfast wasn’t great and shower a tad cold

- Carley (8/5): Worth the trip for the gorgeous outdoor areas & mountain atmosphere! - The grounds here are absolutely stunning. It’d be hard to find a more beautiful, extensive, lovingly cared for flower garden like this at an inn or hotel anywhere. The main, large pool is also pristine, clean, with wonderfully comfortable chaise lounges and shaded areas at the center of the property. Two other pools are tucked away elsewhere on the property and are a little less pristine than the main one but also gorgeous. We spent a whole lazy day in and around the pool main, had it basically to ourselves, and it was magical. The pathways to walk around d the property and views in every direction of the Atlas mountains are really something special as well. While I noticed before our stay in reading the reviews that many people had poor experiences with the restaurant, I’m wondering after put own stay if perhaps the food quality varies with the seasons based on what’s readily available / in season — in early summer we were so happy for all the fresh vegetables and fruits served at breakfast and dinner; while the meals weren’t life-changing, they were still very good and clearly made with care. We weren’t disappointed. I would agree with some of the other reviews about certain details of the property (namely in the rooms) being a bit dated and in need of a little care. We had a large and super comfortable room but the AC was very loud and not very functional (specifically: it didn’t seem to have the power to actually make the room the temperature it was set to but did wake us with strange noises in the middle of the night a few times), the older mini fridge was not plugged in or cold on arrival, and the decor is definitely of another era. We were not hugely bothered by these details since it was only a 2 night stay in a 17 day journey through Morocco & our main reason to be there were the outdoor garden / pool areas and views but if you’re a traveler who really wants high-end, lux creature comforts / decor / etc. in your room this may not be quite the right stop. More of a quaint and traditional romantic stay than a modern and luxurious one room-wise.

- C (9/5): Stunning location, lovely staff - No horse riding / Poor animal care. - Extremely stunning location!! The property & gardens are very well maintained - Simply beautiful.
Very calm & peaceful , very clean & lovely staff.
The food was amazing despite the other negative reviews? Yes , the menu was a little limited but it is cooked & presented to perfection!! NO HORSE RIDING / POOR ANIMAL WELFARE!!! We booked this hotel on the hopes of horse back riding - Unfortunately this was not an option.
I found the horse stables , a 2 minute walk inside the the hotel gardens - the horse’s were incredibly malnourished , starving & bolted away in dirty small stables , no sign of fresh water or food.
The horses were BONE THIN and clearly distressed!!
It was incredibly upsetting.
Clearly the owner of the horse’s is busy / else where or running low on money ? I don’t believe it would be hard to freshen the water , feed them and maybe even let them out for a few hours.
It was huge disappointment seeing how well maintained the rest of the gardens & hotel is?!
I truly hope this will change as soon as possible.
Something has clearly gone terribly wrong & I’m sure can be resolved!! Wether horse riding is an option or not for the guests , there is no excuse for their neglect!!
:( - Please , please look after the horses!!!!
- Nicholas (10/5): Idyllic location set in exceptional grounds. Amazing room - lovely location overlooking Atlas Mountains. Room and grounds beautifully maintained. Staff very helpful.
- Gail (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (6/5): Relaxing but disappointing - The location, the gardens and the spacious rooms. beds were huge and comfortable and shower was lovely Lack of functioning air conditioning, repetitive menu of generally poor quality food. There was a lack of information on excursions, hikes, menus and you really had to probe to find out what you needed. Staff seemed largely uninterested and levels of service were generally not what would be expected. It was a shame that spa, tennis court and stables were unavailable, website should be updated to inform guests - horses that remained were in a terrible condition. Priority seemed to be given to external groups coming for lunch visits who would then take over the pool area. Whole hotel felt like it was stuck in the past and needs an injection of money and energy.
- Joyce (10/5): Paradise! - exceptional grounds, gardens, walking paths, pools…. amazement around every corner! not enough time there
- Stuart (8/5): Very good -
- Chloe (5/5): Beautiful rose gardens but poor service and dinner - The location and area are wonderful. The rose gardens are asboslutely stunning, like I have not seen before. I would visit again and again to see the gardens! The bed was amazing, absolutely huge and so so comfortable. The shower was also nice with a few amenities. Staff were not interactive, no actual welcome to the hotel, service was OK but not friendly (apart from Saeed at breakfast), the noise from neighbouring rooms was very loud, could hear every conversation (door and windows very exposed, believe we stayed in room 44). A used bowl with cut lemons on the table outside the room was there when we arrived and when we departed, staff did not take it away. Bathroom smelt like a bad drain smell. The fridge was noisy, the guest before must have unplugged it for this reason. The dinner was terrible! The worst I have had in a hotel and in Morocco. The soup was OK. Offered Lamb tagine, cod or pasta for dinner....I do not eat lamb or fish unfortunately and they could not offer anything else. The pasta was horrible and not what I visited Morocco for! The cod was not cooked, completely unedible and vegetables smothered in garlic it was horrible. The creme brulee tasted and smelt like scrambled eggs, horrendous. It was so so so so so bad! We complained to the receptionist who laughed (perhaps nervous) and we said we would not pay for it apart from the soup. Upon check out we were not charged which we were thankful of. A real shame as this is not the service or quality I am used to in Morocco!
- Douglas (10/5): I'd rather stay here than at Richard Brandon's hotel (which is nearby) - Roseraie Resort deserves 6 starts! The vast gardens, the pools, many beautiful places to relax , quality furnishings, spacious, quiet, bedroom, gracious and welcoming staff, excellent breakfast and dinner. An excellent value.
There's are several hikes from the property that take 1-4 hours. Parking is easy. It's just perfect. I wouldn't change anything.
- Donald (9/5): Superb - Spectacular property. Set in manicured gardens full of roses. Beautiful spacious rooms. Good service I liked everything. The food was fairly good, but not at the level of the rest of the services.
- Christopher (9/5): Outstanding. LOVED IT! - Exceptionally peaceful quiet and relaxing experience. Room was spacious. Gardens are simply gorgeous! Pool was cold- but actually, delightfully refreshing.
- David (6/5): We had a very nice relaxing stay. however, the spa is not operational and the hotel feels like it had its hay day 20 ye - the gardens and the setting is beautiful. very relaxing spa was not operational. placed looked tired. food was very average at best, and over priced for what it was
- Daniel (10/5): A little Eden. - De La Roserie is set in absolutely stunning verdant landscaped grounds, that are planted with rare and indigenous plants and trees which are in turn surrounded by the backdrop of the Atlas Mountains. There are little areas to discover each day as you roam the extensive grounds. Rooms are separate to the main lodge, in lovely bungalows or maisonettes, all surrounded by their own flora and fauna. The main building has a elegant ranch style feel. There are even stables where we fed the old retired horses apples each day. Dinner is served each evening by the staff and paired with very decent Moroccan wines. I really can’t describe well enough how lovely the grounds are, irrigated by a sort of levada system that provides the sound of fresh running water wherever you stroll. As further example to get to our room you walked up a path, over one of these little streams, through a lemon grove and up to our front door. All in all this is a little slice of heaven. I’m looking forward to returning one day. One of the smaller swimming pools needs renovating. The mosaic tiles at the edge have started to chip away and the water a little murky but I’m sure it is next on their list. Our large balcony would have been put to better use with two sun loungers and a few pot plants to screen a nearby concrete roof.
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic location with beautiful gardens. Very laid back comfortable atmosphere. Extremely relaxing.
- Sarah (8/5): Very good - Beautiful spot, incredible trekking opportunities nearby. Lovely relaxed vibe. Food wasn't great. Dining room not lovely.
- Laura (7/5): Good -
- James (9/5): Superb - The facilities are excellent - two lovely pool areas, with very comfortable sunbeds. Beautiful surroundings, set in grounds with flowers and greenery. Very nice bar area, with cosy fire for the evenings. The rooms are a little dated. There's no safe, so you have to carry things with you.
- Dimitra (9/5): Superb - everything The spa was closed
- Andrew (7/5): Good - Overall it was a great location, friendly staff, a good room and tremendously relaxing environment. The food was fine but never exceptional. The two major disappointments were that the spa had closed down and the tennis court was in very poor condition. It would be good if you could get espresso coffee with breakfast (not available until 10am) and if the tennis court was in working order.
- Philippa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nancy (10/5): Outstanding Setting, Staff, Villa all exceeded our expectations! Recommend highly!!! - Outstanding! Old world estate feel with lodge style indoor and outdoor fireplaces, overstuffed chairs, library bar, lounges by the pools, all surrounded by lush gardens, including lemon groves, rose gardens, pomegranate trees etc. overlooking a river on 77+/- pristine acres. Spacious villas with fine linens, plush pillows, comfy beds, great water pressure, opening to private patios overlooking the gardens. Welcoming staff with great attitude always willing to help but not intrusive. LOVE this place it’s a magical step back in time to a quieter refined era. Loved everything!
- Duane (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (8/5): A beautiful property and great place for a rest after transiting the Tiz n Test mountain pass! - Exceptionally friendly staff. Beautiful grounds - even in winter. The standard room was spacious and comfortable. We loved the big marble bath. We were worried about the welfare of the horses and donkeys. One horse had a skin condition (probably mange or fungal infection and probably curable with the help of a vet) and looked tired and emaciated and his eyes were shut most of the time. A donkey was tethered by a wire around one ankle only about a metre long. Future guests please monitor!
Some facilities were closed for the low season.
- Rory (9/5): Superb -
