Guest Reviews
- Beverly (1/5): Scary Motel - Very shady , half done construction, grills and such in center of parking lot, no staff you have to call. Office is a tiny, dirty messy area the size of a closet. People living in some rooms staring at us. I cancelled as we did not feel safe there. No refund because booked through booking com even though website clearly said free cancel if before 2 pm which I did. Had to rate room low because if you don't care about the exterior, and your office- rooms can't be much better.
- Kim (2/5): - Never again!! When we first arrived - the first room they gave us the door wouldn't stay shut as if it had been kicked in and the toilet was not attached to the ground it moved!!! They were great and gave us a different room right away no problem. The rooms are mishmashed items put together, the bedding did not appear clean, we slept on top of the covers. There were so many strange noises all night and when we woke up in the morning we couldnt breathe and our eyes were puffy and running - there must be mold behind the walls that look terrible.
- Jeannie (10/5): - We stayed for the Oktoberfest and it was so fun and motel so handy for this event
- Verified traveler (2/5): Unbelievable - No one in the office, it was 7pm I had to call a phone number taped to the door. Person directed us to our room which she said was unlocked and the key was on a chest. The lock on the outside door was a push button lock like on a bathroom door in a home. The TV was missing one remote which required two. I called the person again and she said they would send someone over. When a fellow came we thanked him and he didn’t work for Colonial he stayed there he just wanted to help. We thanked him and he left us. No one ever came. We never met the people from Colonial. There was a pair of dirty socks in the corner by the entrance. We left at 7:00am never to return. We had paid for two nights
- Brooke (2/5): - My employees tried to leave because of the uncleanliness however this was the only availability in the area. One of them went and bought new sheets to put on the bed.
- Dorothy (2/5): - The property was in a terrible state of disrepair. The office was a shambles. The door was open, but there was never a staff person in attendance. I did not feel safe. I left after one night. I requested a refund for remaining two nights. No response.
- Sunset (1/5): DO NOT STAY HERE! - There wasn’t a single positive to this motel. This was the most disgusting room I have ever walked into. We waited thirty minutes for the cracked out on-site manager to bring us a key. The room smelled rancid. There were mouse droppings on the headboard. There was sand and dirt all over the carpet. Upon inspection of the mattress, bedbugs were revealed. The toiletries on the bathroom were used. The few minutes I was inside the room I knew we needed to get back in the car. The number to call and deal with the manager revealed he was from another town and would not refund this. It was unsafe for myself, let alone traveling with a child. This should be unable to be rented.
- josh (2/5): Dont stay here - It was dirty gross and awful. Id suggest staying in your car over this dump.
- Dawn (6/5): - walking distance to Bavarian Blast
- Kristie (4/5): - The church
Check in process was questionable
The bathroom needed a lot of work. Would not take a shower or bath in it
- tim (6/5): - It was all ok cept the bed it was tje worst bed i ever slept in it was lumpy and uneven
- Dean (6/5): - Reviving an old Lucky Inn. Quiet and peaceful, Kwik Trip is only a 5 minute walk
- Amarjeet (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (6/5): Small - Keys were in the room. Small for 2 people.
- Kristen (6/5): - Construction stuff lying all over. Wasn’t sure if we had rented a room at a place that was closed due to construction!!
No staff available. Had to call a number to finally get a key to our room from a cart sitting outside the office with lock pads on it. Had no idea what to do with the key when we were ready to leave?? We left it in our unlocked room!!
- Susan (6/5): - liked = helpful staff (friendly), hot water for shower, clean mattress, comfortable mattress. accessible to exterior services (Kwik Stop etc.); liked coffee available in room!!
didn't like - nailed shut window (emergency egress?), intermittent internet, used small heater to keep warm. ramshackle condition of exterior motel = hope the incomplete repairs are complete within a year.
- Cindy (3/5): It was a bed and not much more - The room I stayed in had a leak in the bathroom plumbing
- Donald (4/5): Oh well - It was a roof over our heads, but that’s it, floor and bathroom needed extra cleaning before check in
- Vergin (1/5): Over priced - They were doing construction. It sounded like they were working on it all through the night. I didn't get any sleep.. I was told they had a fire there last year. The fire alarm was screwed to the ceiling. Very sketchy.
- Eiffler (6/5): Pleasant - Small place Cramped room smelled like the room had not been aired in mo ths
- wade (2/5): - Do not stay here the place has roaches and it's extremely dirty I don't know when they cleaned it last my bed sheets seem like they were from the 1960s still had rips and tears in them the air conditioner worked was about the only positive that I can say about this place and they charged me an extra $21 which I'm assuming they thought I stole maybe a towel or two which I didn't cuz I don't need to still tell us from a janky ass Plus they're doing construction and I'm not blaming the crew but if you're going to have some people staying at your hotel don't start at 6:30 7a.m.
- Benjamin (2/5): - I would not recommend this property. The only convenience about the property was how easy it was to book online.. I will not be doing this in the future as reservations are not refundable. I was out the money I paid even though I did not stay at the property.
- Grace (1/5): Don’t do it - Nothing Boarded up windows, scary
- francis (2/5): - Half the building is burnt down. That is fine, however it was the fact we couldn’t even get checked in, or find any staff to check us in. Door was locked and 2 numbers given to call that no one answers.
Expedia tried to call them and the line is disconnected unreachable.
There was a county fair behind the building happening and it’s off the busy road.
It was a cheap room that we couldn’t use .
We had to try to find another hotel on the fly and that was hard and spends.
- Christina (2/5): - Upon inspection of rooms.. yes rooms, the property was dirty and sheets stained with blood. Office was closed upon arriving. Would not refund reservation as we did not stay at location because of the condition of rooms.
- Raymond (4/5): - A fire in another unit was exposed. Older property.
Room ok for stopover.
Noisy neighborhood on Fri, quiet after 1030.
Nice City.
- Olivia (4/5): - Property was not well taken care of.
- Deborah (4/5): - Part of the hotel appears to have been in a fire. There was no staff on site as the office seems to have been affected by the fire. I had to call a number taped to the door to check-in. I was instructed to proceed to my room where a key would be by the TV. The door lock was not completely secure. I used the desk chair to prop against the knob on the inside. I did not feel safe. The rooms were not cleaned to an average standard.
- Jeff (6/5): Basic - It is an old motel. Probably from the 50's-60's.
Paid for a king bed on hotels.com. got there and said a queen bed was available.
NO reduction in price offered.
Charged $170 for one night.
Room was ok. Coffee maker, small fridge and microwave.
Basic basic basic.
- Lisle (1/5): didn't stay as felt unsafe - Nothing We got to the property and it was so sketchy we didn't feel safe staying there and left
- DANIEL (2/5): - 1/4 of the bulding has been burnt down. Allyhough we had frsshly painted room. Non of the facilities in the room ( shower, sink ,tv) worked
- Constance (8/5): - It was clean and had clean towels and soaps/shampoo. The coffee maker did not work properly.
- Gary (6/5): - Door locks need fixing
They had fire on property?!?
Looked horrible
No office
No checkin
- Forrest (5/5): Passable -
- Maxine (6/5): - We were under the impression there was free breakfast but the front office was always closed. Also the fire was a little off putting, but I know that’s out of their control.
- Kathy (4/5): - No one was there to greet us. We had to call someone who said our room was open and the key was inside. The room did not smell very good, the bed was not very good and the room was dirty. We ended up not staying and found a different hotel in town. Too bad we paid up front for this room.
- Jeffery (2/5): - Cockroaches in bathroom. Smells coming out of shower drain. Mold in shower. Toilet water flapper valve leaking and making noise continuously. Window screen to outside torn out at bottom so I could not open window. Carpet filthy and no pad.
- Jessica (10/5): - Had a great stay at a reasonable price. Am even returning for work and know I will be staying there again!
- Betty (8/5): Very good -
- David (2/5): - No one @front desk.
No hot water.
Beds horrible.
- Benjamin (2/5): - Heat doesn’t even work. Couldn’t even sleep on their linens. Will never stay here again.
- Jake (10/5): Exceptional -
- Friedrich (9/5): Superb - Nice, friendly, good
- Yvonne (7/5): Good -
- Woitas (5/5): Passable - The cleaning lady was very nice, to us. And did a good job on cleaning the room. Room was very run down, needs to be Updated Thought the price was a little high for this type of room.
- Gerald (5/5): Passable - Coffee maker did not work Hey reminded me of moteisin the 50’s, but it was clean and met expectations
- Lopez (10/5): Clean room in the convenient location. - Location. Friendly staff, clean room
- John (7/5): Good -
- Christian (1/5): Disgusting - Nothing. Your “hotel” is disgusting! How your hotel is even allowed to legally operate given the deplorable conditions is beyond my comprehension. Everything!
- Marty (8/5): Very good -
- Chad (2/5): I don't know how they charge so much for a room. Stolen soaps and random items from other hotels! - Very sketchy atmosphere and people
- Barbara (2/5): Very unpleasant - No one in the lobby. Had to go find someone to Check us in. TV didn't work. Couldn't find anyone to fix it. Had to leave a day early and they wouldn't refund the last day price.
- Deanna (5/5): The hotel room was clean. The staff was very friendly and hospitable. it was comfortable . - There was fresh fruit, which was nice. , the bed was comfortable and the front desk person was kind, the housekeeper also seemed friendly. The shampoo and mouthwash bottle were almost empty, had been used already and no place to put them in the shower. There was a stain on sheet and stains on carpet.
- Lopez (10/5): It was great stay. Thanks. - Hotel is located north tip of City of New Ulm, MN so you may just miss it but boy, glad I didn't. What a hidden gem. Room was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Location is perfect. I'll definitely come back. They have K-cup coffee and donuts in the lobby. But the office was locked when I stopped by @ 6 am. Quiktrip was walking distance so I went there. Wish they teamed up with Quiktrip for voucher/discount.
- Tracey (4/5): Disappointing - park my truck with trailer right across my room where its visible and walk in and out close its very old, old bumping vinyl floor and ripped.. loose tiles in bathroom, heat was not working front desk brought me small portable heater and it was not warm enough.. gave me 2nd ones..
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Joe (6/5): Pleasant -
- Carmen (1/5): Bad -
- Mimi (10/5): Karaoke nights, Great location. Rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. - The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting New Ulm. All good.
- Merey (2/5): Not a comfortable stay at all. - Close to downtown Room had an unpleasant stuffy smell. Carpet was so dirty I couldn't go barefoot. Loads of flies. Thought we killed them all but more kept showing up.
- Rickey (4/5): Disappointing - Found a pin under the blanket, walls were dirty, no ice machine,
- Gail (10/5): Happy time - We had a very good time with a friendly worker and a very clean room.
- Paul (2/5): - If this was not the worst hotel experience of my life, it was close. I have never seen any hotel more run-down or filthy in my life. We ended up forfeiting the money we paid for two rooms because we had to pay in advance, and driving home 100 miles late at night after a funeral. This is simply no way to run a hotel. The carpets were filthy and worn, and everything was so perfumed so that you could not distinguish the stench. We called trying to check out and had a bizarre phone conversation with a service rep. There is no redeeming quality to this hotel. You will be better off driving through the night or sleeping in your car by the railroad tracks.
- Undra (8/5): - The room upon arrival was not the room I was expecting although it was clean it was a shoebox and overheated. Actually I could see it was the only room available but
Monday I switched to a better room with a real queen bed and a tub. The inn is old and so is the furniture. It’s no frills but the charm is its very quiet clean and I could get to the property’s easily. I actually got a extended stay for another day and hopefully got all of my work done and glad I did because my ride had problems and will be transporting myself in the AM.
- Ian (8/5): A good value - The hotel is a bit dated, but is clean and conveniently located. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean, and the price was right.
- Tammy (10/5): - The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable. The best thing was the location, I could walk to "County Fairgrounds" from the Hotel, which I needed to visit for my business.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It has gotten quite expensive to stay in New Ulm, and we need to stay often for family events. This is your most reasonable stay in town. It's an older facility where the rooms/furniture have been updated. Nothing fancy, but we slept well, it was clean, and under $100. We'll be staying here again.
- Amanda (10/5): Thank you - Out of all the different places I’ve stayed, I have never experienced such GREAT customer service. When I checked in, the lady at the front desk (I feel bad I didn’t get her name) greeted me like she knew me and with a big smile. I was able to check in 3 hours early with no extra charge and the bed was amazing. I booked this place because it was very affordable and I just needed a basic room. It was perfect! I was sad to leave after only 1 night, I wanted to stay another. I will stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Udated amenities. Very clean. I was able to login to Netflix without attaching my laptop to the television.
- M (6/5): - Rate a little high but considering weekends events and proximity to
Bavarian event works ok.
- Kristina (10/5): Clean and cool - The room was nice, clean, and had a great air conditioning system :)
- Wayne R (6/5): Older Hotel - It is a older hotel and is in fair shape. There were a lot of folks outside the hotel talking and caring on till well after midnight. Kept me up. The bed was comfy.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location was the main factor for us being able to walk to all the different attractions in New Ulm. Room was clean, walls are thin and could hear neighboring guests.
- Anonymous (8/5): - Room was ok. Smelled a little musty. It’s an older hotel so a little dated. Overall ok. Close to the fairgrounds. Price is reasonable.
- Christine (8/5): - Friendly staff. Continental breakfast at the motel office. Our room was clean and welcoming. Recent updates with room furnishings. Mini fridge and microwave was nice. We stayed with some friends and had adjoining rooms, which we enjoyed.
- Nicole (8/5): - The owners were over the top friendly. Check in was very courteous. They have a variety of things laid out for a breakfast in the morning. Its a very small lobby but its more than a lot of other hotels do. The room was clean, no big complaints. The walls are a bit thin so you may be able to hear some talking or light traffic outside. Overall, for a place to sleep, this was just fine and i would definitely go back.
- Roger (8/5): - Very friendly and accomodating. The location was one block from the Civic Center where I had a toys show.
- Katy (8/5): In town for work - Hotel was nice for the amount of money paid.
- Jim (6/5): Okay place to sleep as bed comfortable, but... - I was in New Ulm for work, and setting up at a car show. I stopped by the hotel about 3:30pm and no one was at the front desk. I rang the bell multiple times, finally left not checked in. Went back about 5:30 and it was the same thing. I was just dialing their phone number to see if that would be answered, and the gut comes in the check in area from outside. Whatever. The room was old, a few burn marks on the bathroom floor, old tub/shower, needs updating. Bed was comfortable, and slept well. For $110 not worth it at all.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Awful motel - Old, dirty, full of flies. Feels like 1950s and has not been updated since.
