- Steve (10/5): A great place to stay. - Room and restaurant were excellent
- Carolyn (10/5): -
- johnnydgoode (10/5): lovely hotel with very good staff - Could not fault the hotel, the room was very clean. comfortable and quiet, the food was very good, what made this hotel outstanding was the staff, they were very polite, extremely helpful and always smiling even when an guest was confused with the TV remote,
- Emily (10/5): - Can't fault the hotel. Lovely staff, convenient hotel, nice bar. Room was perfect for our one night stay. Only criticism is why only one pillow.
- Michele (8/5): Thoroughly enjoyed staying here excellent food and service. - Very clean and friendly staff
- Louise (8/5): A lovely stay, thank you - A lovely stay; perfect for my family. The breakfast was also delicious!
- Ian (10/5): -
- Kenneth (10/5): Lovely stay in Southend. Excellent hotel - Everything. Excellent staff, friendly and helpful, lovely sea view room. Lovely food and good bar. Nothing
- Emily (8/5): Comfortable, straightforward booking and rooms were immaculate. - The location is excellent and rooms were very good. Being told last orders were at 10:30pm then returning back at 10:20 to a frosty reception from the man (manager?) who was pretty stern and grumpy about serving us drinks and eventually conceded on the condition we took them straight to our rooms. He warmed up eventually it just wasn’t a very hospitable start.
- Kelvin (9/5): -
- Chris (8/5): -
- L (8/5): - It was lovely and clean. But room was very small for price Size of room
- T. P01 (10/5): - Sentimental place. We love it there
- Janice (10/5): -
- Claire (10/5): Very pleasant stay - good value for money. - Exceptionally clean - looks like it has all just been refurbed (no grey bits round the shower!!!). Bed comfy and extra pillows in the cupboard, I would just have liked a softer pillow, but that's personal preference. Plenty of free parking round the back of the Hotel. Good location - try the Tapas bar further along on the beach! Also ate in the Hotel - generous portions well cooked - good individually cooked full english breakfast in the morning. Nothing
- Steph (10/5): Fabulous stay - lovely hotel. - Everything. Definitely stay again. Great service all round & super clean hotel. Nothing.
- Karen (8/5): - Beds were comfy, breakfast was delicious. Would definitely recommend Nothing
- Jill (10/5): - Very satisfactory
- Guest (10/5): -
- Curlena (4/5): - Room very cold and need redecorating, afraid to use things due to notices. step free access very limited withing building . Should be made very clear,
- Vrushali Kailas (9/5): Nice stay , good food - Nice location, good food The fried food smell was all over the room due to the Kitchen exhaust being directed to room, it took some time to get rid of the fried fish smell, staff was not so bothered about my problem.
- Graham (8/5): Car park problems - This hotel is nicely placed on the seafront, the rooms are excellent and the on-suit bathroom was very well appointed with nice clean crisp white towels. The hotel described free parking which it is just at the back of the hotel, unfortunately it is also a public car park so spaces are limited on warm sunny days, so we hade to drive and park elsewhere, it would have been better if the description had stated this as it was a major factor in choosing this hotel.
- Tina D (6/5): One night stay - The staff were friendly and caring as my travel circumstances weren't the best. The room was clean, as I only stayed 1 night I didn't have any food but it looked nice
The bed comfortable. Early closing of food at 6.30 in the evening,
The bar shut by 8.45pm so had no option but go to my room.
Noisy bedroom, could hear next doors tv and the side room moving around rooms not very well soundproofed., tried to have shower at 9.30pm( not excessively late) water not very hot.
Unable to squeeze shower gel easily from its wall container whilst in shower. Towels only just big enough( size 16) to wrap around me.
Expected better value for £114 room only on a sunday.
- Thembeka Bana (8/5): -
- Ann Jennifer (8/5): Very comfortable stay whilst visiting family in the area. - Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good. Tissues in the room would have been good.
- Stacey (8/5): - Bathroom was too small to move around. Beds were so comfy i gad the best 10 hours life of my life.
- Zhongyu (9/5): -
- Mark (8/5): - Staff very friendly and an excellent breakfast.
Would return when we next visit Southend
- Lineisha (1/5): -
- Derek (8/5): - Location No biscuits with tea bags and milk
- Ewelina (10/5): - From the moment I entered, I was impressed by the cleanliness and modern decor, which created a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring any requests were promptly fulfilled
- Jordan (10/5): -
- Tony (10/5): - Was there for our 39th wedding Anniversary met some friends and had a lovely meal in the restaurant to celebrate....
- Richard (10/5): - Everything was lovely thanks
- Katie (6/5): - The hotel room was lovely but £187 for one night (booked last minute and arriving at 5pm) and not incl breakfast was a bit much. It was just me and my partner and dinner finished earlier than 7pm, last orders at the bar were 8.30pm… Breakfast finished at 9.30am and there was a £14.95pp charge for it. Bit steep onto of the room rate.
- Domenico (10/5): - Nice hotel on the sea front with free parking. Great staff and good food
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sylvia (8/5): Very good -
- Patricia (8/5): Very good - Location; parking;clean and comfortable but small bedroom;
Very helpful staff : restaurant and bar area very comfortable;#quiet. One hand towel between two guests.
Steep steps to the entrance of the hotel. Narrow passageway to bedroom .
- Cliff (6/5): Pleasant - Location and parking
- Emanuele (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dave (8/5): Comfortable - Excellent clean facilities, friendly staff and perfect for a short break. N/A
- Tony (4/5): disappointing - Room smallish and stuck away Expensive for what it was. Car parking dodgy
- Andrew (10/5): - Wonderful staff who were very accommodating. We got a free upgrade and enjoyed the view of the sea. We got room service and were served generous portions. Breakfast was delicious! Absolutely would stay here again if I was in the area.
- Janette (10/5): It was quiet, relax and very enjoyable - Clean, quiet Nothing
- Tracy (6/5): Disappointed as usually my favourite place to stay. - Love the location Made to feel we couldn’t have a drink outside and it wasn’t even late. Room way too hot and fan supplied was far too small!
- David (7/5): Good -
- Antony (10/5): Exceptional - Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and a good size for 1 person. Nothing
- Ann (10/5): Excellent value. Hotel clean and staff welcoming. Well cooked breakfast with good quality food. - All the staff were helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was upgraded to a sea view which made a stay.
- Angela (10/5): Very enjoyable & would recommend the Hotel to friends. - All the Staff were very friendly & helpful.
We had dinner each night & the food was excellent, as were the cooked breakfasts. Would have been nice to have fresh fruit available at breakfast, other than just in yogurt.
- Savvas (8/5): - Good hotel with comfortable rooms.Sea front location and convenient for southend pier and attractions. There is a nice outdoor area to have a drink -decent bar.Good breakfast.
- Kevan (10/5): - The staff were all friendly helpful and cheerful
It felt like a personal service and home from home.
- Alexander (10/5): - Decided to spend the weekend to celebrate our anniversary. What a great choice in selecting the Camelia. From the moment of entering the property you were made to feel welcome and an ease of check in and shown to room. We were in room 19 which is on the ground floor at the back of the property overlooking a lovely little courtyard. Spacious double room, spotlessly clean and a great overhead shower.
Great breakfast and agin the staff were immaculate in presentation and service. Would highly recommend
- Jonathan (10/5): - Friendly and professional welcome.
Overall good standard hotel.
Would stay again.
- David (10/5): - Great hotel, fantastic views and excellent staff. Breakfast was loverly and everything was cooked to perfection.
- Fred (3/5): Poor - Tiny room for 200 a night Just small room
- Agnes (8/5): Very good -
- Debbie (10/5): Great location, modern and amazing staff and food. - All the staff were very welcoming and helpful and the food was exceptional! Room was very hot even with windows open and provided fan on but as we were there for only 1 night it didn’t spoil our stay
- Susan (8/5): Very good -
- Tracey (10/5): - I stopped for a business trip and were thoroughly impressed. The service was amazing, and the food was delicious. I’ll definitely stop here again when I’m in the area.
- Christine (10/5): Very enjoyable. Would return to this hotel again. - Hotel was lovely, staff friendly and polite food exceptional. Compliments to the chef. We have nothing to complain about
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marion (8/5): A great one-night stay and a wonderful dinner with a group - We were greeted by the very friendly staff. It's a nice boutique hotel, with narrow hallways and relatively small but clean and well-maintained rooms. The food for both dinner and breakfast was very good. The double bed was a bit small for my tall partner and myself.
- Daw (8/5): Very good - It was very warm
- Alan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Thomas (8/5): Very good -
- Lynn (10/5): Fuss free, comfortable home from home. It was lovely. - The room was very comfortable, clean and stylish. We would have preferred a sea view but was a lot more for a view. It didn't detract from our stay. We didn't have breakfast but we had dinner in the evening and teas and coffee, which we enjoyed and were good quality and value for money. The room was very warm and whilst staff provided fans it was difficult to get comfortable. I appreciate that this is not the norm for our climate but its the only thing we didn't like
- Richard (10/5): Bliss - Great bar, dining room and terrace. Free parking and a fantastic location. We stayed on a very hot day and the shower was only either hot or hotter but that aside we loved everything about our stay.
- Lindsay (10/5): Exceptional -
- Izabela (9/5): Lovely short summer stay. We will come back! - Great location at the promenade. Family run (we think) so makes you feel like staff genuinely care. We loved the bathroom. Great size and freshly refurbished/ well maintained. We liked the fact that young groups weren’t allowed as it was quiet. Also our special request was granted. Thank you! We ordered drinks at the bar and offered to wait. The lady insisted she brings them to the table but she never did. We patiently waited for 20 + minutes. Place wasn’t busy. When went to ask about the drinks she wasn’t there (finished her shift?) but other staff members resolved this immediately and with kind attitude. Thank you!
- Pete (10/5): Exceptional - Great room with a sea view. Room was spotlessly clean. All the staff was very friendly. Nice breakfast.
- Anonymous (10/5): Pleasant and relaxing - Breakfast and evening meal were delicious, dining room was welcoming and comfortable, lovely atmosphere. Facing the beachfront on the hottest day was such a bonus, and to have the lovely sea breeze as soon as you walked out the hotel. Staff were very accommodating for any queries. Bigger fan in the room.
- Ian (9/5): Great stay with a sea view from your bed . - We loved the executive room with the lovely sea view . Was nice to lay in bed and watch the sea and the boats and ships .
The room was spotless clean, well arranged, and a king size comfy bed .
Liked the fact that we had a bath and a shower and the water was hot.
The bath filled very quickly although it wasn’t a huge bath , it was nice .
It was a very comfy hotel, with no banging of doors or noise from other rooms .
Was right on the sea front and a free car park behind . Was a little bit far out for us to walk into town. Partner is not a huge fan of walking.
- Kevin (10/5): - Hotel well positioned on sea front, good choice of food and well stocked bar. All staff were excellent. Room a reasonable size with good size bathroom. Only one detraction was the room was oh so hot!
Admittedly it was an etremely hot couple of days.
- Julie (10/5): Great Hotel - Lovely hotel and the staff were amazing
- Alan (10/5): - The staff are so friendly, made all the difference
A great Hotel overlooking the water
- Leo (6/5): - Very hot stuffy room
- JOHN (8/5): Good Overnight Stay - We were pleased with this hotel. We arrived about 2.30pm for an overnight stay and breakfast the following morning. Our room was clean, and reasonably spacious. The bathroom was very good with a great overhead rain shower and tub. The bed was reasonably comfortable and extra pillows were available. The room was at the back of the hotel and quiet at night as away from the road though without the sea view. Breakfast was mixed - the dining area was nice but my wife had to ask for her poached egg to be recooked as it was overdone and my toast was forgotten. The quality of the breakfast ingredients was okay but not high end. We felt overall the price was fair for what we received. There is a free public car park behind the hotel but it does fill up when people are going to the beach. There is also nearby free street parking.
- Ipek (10/5): - The room was very small but very comfortable and clean
- Spencer (10/5): Definitely stay at the Camila again - Very friendly staff, lovely clean room
- Sarah (7/5): Friendly welcome. Clean but dated furniture and excellent view of car park! Probably too expensive for standard of room. - Friendly welcome Not the best outlook
- Yunus (9/5): Cozy hotel in perfect beach front location. Couldn’t believe how convenient the parking situation was, didn’t expect tha - Perfect location, very friendly and helpful staff and great food in the restaurant!
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kate (8/5): Comfortable room, great food, great location, really nice staff, just a little pricey. - Breakfast was really nice and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was a perfect size, I was expecting a single room but was put in a nice double instead which was a really nice surprise. I ate in the restaurant on one evening and the food was really good and great value for money. Was a bit of a struggle going up and down several staircases to get to the room. I have mobility issues which made it a bit difficult to manoeuvre, especially with my suitcase and bags. I should have looked into the accommodation in more detail, will do in future.
I did find the price of the room very high. That's the only thing that would stop me returning in the future.
- Stephen (8/5): Very good -
- Elaine (3/5): We won't be returning - Breakfast was great and position of the hotel was good but there was no where to sit in the bar inside the hotel so we froze outside. It was expensive to stay and the bed was so uncomfortable neither of us got any sleep on either night so our weekend was ruined. However the staff were lovely Decent mattresses are essential if you expect people to return
- ann (10/5): Lovely little hotel - Lovely hotel. Staff all very welcoming, room has everything you need and they allowed us a slightly late check out complimentary x
- Rachel (7/5): Good -
- Bernard (8/5): Very good -
- Eleanor (9/5): Superb -
- Jean (8/5): Good stay Food excellent and service efficient and friendly - Pleasant and efficient staff Nothing really but hotels like this often has a lounge or communal area
- Samantha (9/5): Superb - Fabulous location, friendly staff and a lovely breakfast
- Nick (5/5): Friendly staff, room too hot - Friendly staff Room too hot and couldn't open locked windows
- Tom (8/5): Very good -
- Sonnenberg (9/5): Most enjoyable with good food and friendly and helpful staff - We like the position especially the sea view. We like the dining areas inside and out. We appreciate the car park The stairs are a bit of a climb but worth it for the view
