• Marijke (10/5): Great! - Great host! He gave us a lot of information on the neighbourhood and he was very accommodating. The location was good, it had easy access to the city center by bus. The room was comfortable and clean and there was a cozy common room. He let us store our luggage after check-out which was very friendly. We very much enjoyed our stay!

• Matteo (10/5): Un angolo autentico di Kyoto - La Guesthouse Bon merita tutto il tempo di una bella recensione. La zona è perfetta, lontana dal caos turistico ma al tempo stesso comoda per raggiungere attrazioni principali come il golden temple o il ryoan-ji, consigliamo assolutamente di affittare le biciclette da Bon e di seguire i suoi consigli per scoprire la zona. La struttura è autentica con i tatami tradizionali e le docce esterne, molto pulita e dotata di tutti i servizi necessari. Bon e sua moglie sono stati degli osti gentilissimi che ci hanno fatto apprezzare ancora di piu il nostri viaggio in questi paese meraviglioso.
• Salomé (10/5): Super séjour à la guesthouse Bon. Je recommande chaudement ! - J’ai adoré mon séjour dans cette guesthouse. Bon-san est super sympa et prend chaque matin le temps d’indiquer sur une carte de la ville les meilleurs restaurants et activités à faire dans les zones que vous voulez explorer. La chambre était petite mais très agréable et confortable. Vous pouvez louer un vélo à la journée si vous le souhaitez. Le quartier est calme, en dehors de la zone touristique mais le métro est à 17min à pieds, le bus à 8 min. Et il y a plein de choses à voir autour de la maison.

He gave us extensive guidance for our visit to Kyoto. His advice and recommendations made our stay prefect! Would recommend to everyone without hesitation!

Bon is the best host, offered to pick us up and drop us off at the subway station, nothing was a problem, and he has a great sense of humor. The guesthouse is simple, extremely clean, and has all the modest comforts to make your stay restful and homely. We are a mum & son combo, and Bon made us feel right at home. We rented his e-bikes for 2 days and decided this was the best way for us to see the city & surrounds with no set plans and avoiding the big groups & congested areas. If you enjoy a simple experience in a quiet neighbourhood within walking distance to trains, convenience stores & temples with lovely locals, then this is your place!

• Nina (10/5): Quiet and lovely Kyoto 🌞 - How to express how nice our host was? He explained the entire neighborhood to us on a beautiful map drawn on the wall and gave us plenty of recommendations. The room was very comfy and cleaned every day (!). We felt so welcomed in this beautiful traditional house and loved staying here. The neighbourhood is in a calm area, well connected by bus but also in walking distance to some of the most beautiful temples in the city. All good!

• Chloé (7/5): - Le propriétaire a vraiment fait de son mieux pour que mon séjour se passe bien. Il a pris son temps pour me faire des propositions d'activités et d'itinéraires en plus de rentrer mes vêtements que j'avais laissé dehors séchés quand il a commencé à pleuvoir. Les toilettes et la douche sont à l'extérieur donc cela peut être inconfortable pour certaines personnes, pour ma part ce n'était pas un problème, mais je pense que c'est tout de même important de mentionner.

• Naoko (8/5): 昔懐かしい古民家、心温かいオーナーさんの営む宿 - 今回は2回目の利用になります。 建物は京都の古民家で、そんなに広くはないですが、綺麗に掃除されていて、昔懐かしいレトロな所とオーナーさんの優しく温かいところがとても好感をもてる宿です。 京都はバスや地下鉄などがありますが、この宿にはレンタサイクルもあり、晴れていれば二輪車専用道路があるので、京都巡りには便利です。是非、電動自転車をお勧めします。 お風呂があればいいですが、ゲストルームなので、シャワーがあたりまえなのかも。。 近くに銭湯がいくつかあるようです。

Bon-san is really nice and amazing person, he even offer to pick us up from the station since it's a 1km walk to the house. I would love to book stay here if I were to visit Kyoto again, the place, scenery and nature nearby is beautiful really recommended to book here! nothing, love all of it
• Duedang (10/5): 앞으로의 교토 여행에서 나의 집이 될 곳을 찾았습니다. - 혼자 조용히 쉬다오는 목적의 여행에 부합하는 최고의 숙소였습니다. 교토 북부를 여행하기 좋은 위치였고 조용하고 로컬스러운 동네에 다다미를 경험할 수 있었습니다. 호스트 부부께서는 친절하게 여행의 팁을 주고 새해 첫날 모찌와 간단한 식사도 준비해주셨습니다. 작지만 깔끔하게 정돈된 공용 공간에서 다른 게스트들과 친절한 호스트와 함께 많은 이야기를 나누며 여행을 잘 즐기고 왔습니다. 교토에 또 방문한다면 반드시 재방문할 예정입니다. 없어요. 공간이 작고 계단이 가파른건 일본 전통 가옥의 특징이라고 생각해요. 바닥난방이 없지만 팬히터가 잘되어있어서 춥다고 느끼지 못했습니다.

• Jarred (10/5): A great place to stop and spend time on your travels, so scenic and beautiful - I loved the location and how quiet it was except for the mellow sound of the river below and the animals in the trees. The stars were beautiful at night. Simon was an excellent host and was willing to go out of his way to work with our schedule and help with our bags for extra (we forgot to book a luggage taxi) as we did Kumano Kodo. I honestly can't say anything wasnt good!

• Xi (10/5): 很好很特别的经历 - 旅馆很干净，房东每天早上都会用吸尘器打扫卫生，为房客整理好床品，洗手间虽然是公用的但是每天都是香香的，也有消毒用品；有投币洗衣机可以用，有消毒液和洗衣用品；带的行李比较大，房东还在我们入住和离开当天开车接送到地铁站，非常感谢😊；房间也比较大和宽敞，活动空间比较大；离大德寺很近，离金阁寺也不远，想悠闲一点就也能够在周边游玩；入住当天房东还和我们推荐了很多附近不错的餐厅，根据我们的目的地提供建议，比如奈良·斑鸠一日pass就非常实惠便利，总之非常感谢房东的照顾！ 由于旅馆是木质结构，早晨其他房客的动静会比较容易传进房间里，但是属于此类房屋的特性，不介意这一点的话就可以选择～

• Carlos (9/5): - Sin duda, esta es la experiencia más tradicional que tuvimos en Kyoto. Bon es muy servicial, amable y busca mantener todo siempre limpio y en orden. Las habitaciones son cómodas, y un gran plus que tuvimos en nuestra estancia fue la oportunidad de aprender de Bon sobre la gastronomía japonesa en una clase de cocina. Por el tipo de construcción, se puede escuchar facilmente todo en la casa, pero esto no presentó un problema en nuestra estancia.

• Chongyu (9/5): Great deal! - Quiet neighborhood. Fully equipped kitchen. Bon was very helpful. Lovely vibe. Old building so you could hear when people walking down/up the stairs. Toilet and shower were outside but we were fine with it.

• Jose Luis (10/5): La mejor estancia en kioto - El casero, una persona maravillosa, siempre dispuesta a facilitarte la estancia y que disfrutes lo máximo posible. Si vuelvo a kioto, sin duda repetiría mi estancia en este sitio. Nada, todo perfecto.
• Théo (10/5): Hôte en or, guesthouse adorable et abordable - Hôte adorable, qui nous a chercher + ramener à la gare de métro la plus proche, il nous a tout expliquer avec beaucoup d'implication, les transports pour aller au centre, les activités, les restaurants et cafés du coin (que l'on a tester) bref, une vraie personne en or ! Le guesthouse est très mignon, bien équipé, très propre franchement un super rapport qualité prix ! Tout ce que j'ai à relever c'est un des 2 coussins vraiment dur, j'en avait mal à la nuque au réveil, et les murs entre les chambres pas bien epais, sur 4 nuits, 3 RAS, mais la dernière un groupe de jeunes qui discutait et rigolait encore à 2h du matin, on a du toquer plusieurs fois puisqu'on les entendait vachement...

Já para não falar que no último dia depois do check out disponibilizou se não só para guardar as nossas malas como para as levar até nós.
• Stephan (9/5): Optimal, um Kyoto kennenzulernen - Bon (der Host) ist unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Er hat gute Tipps, Fahrräder und eine Küche mit allem, was man braucht. Die Lage im Norden ist auch gut, in der unmittelbaren Umgebung gibt es einiges zu sehen. Die Wände sind etwas dünn, man muss also auf respektvolle Nachbarn hoffen ;)

L’authenticité de la maison rend le séjour très agréable, avec des rencontres intéressantes des autres visiteurs. L’emplacement est parfait avec un réseau de transport en commun à proximité et facilement accessible. Le quartier est calme et pourvu de possibilités de restauration diverses, ainsi que de sites à visiter. Le couchage traditionnel japonais peut être dur pour le dos mais ça vaut l’expérience

• Lesley (4/5): The caretaker was a lovely helpful man. The Bon is very basic and small. A bit of a walk from train/subway/bus. - Toilet outside, shower outside, bedroom uncomfortable with no quilt just a sheet and pillow was rock hard and exceptionally small.

He was very kind and sat down and gave us recommendations and explained what to do and see in Kyoto. He was very attentive and helpful, and even drove us to the nearest station when we checked out. We rented bikes from him for a very low price and it was the perfect way to see the city. The room was clean and comfortable. The common areas were clean and spacious. I would 100% recommend staying here for a quiet and authentic stay.

• Nicole (8/5): Accogliente casa condivisa fuori dal centro di Kyoto - La struttura si trova a 10-12 minuti della fermata di alcuni autobus che portano al centro città in circa 30-40 minuti. Si tratta di una struttura adiacente alla casa dell'host, il che permette, in caso di necessità, di poter sempre contattare Bon (il proprietario). La struttura presenta diverse camere al piano superiore e inferiore. Al piano inferiore è presente anche cucina, bagno, lavatrice e fornelli. Tutto era veramente molto pulito. L'host è veramente accogliente e alla mano: al nostro arrivo si è offerto di venirci a prendere alla stazione della metro per accompagnarci in struttura, evitandoci il pullman, ha risposto a tutti i nostri quesiti e necessità e ci ha aiutato a risolvere diverse criticità che abbiamo incontrato nel nostro soggiorno. Molto presente anche via whatsapp per comunicazioni rapide nel corso della giornata! La struttura è accogliente ma spartana, forse poco adatta a chi cerca tranquillità e maggiore intimità. Le pareti sono molto sottili e quindi la sera non è raro rimanere svegli perché i vicini di stanza stanno semplicemente parlando. Inoltre, bagno e doccia si trovano in spazi comuni e unicamente nel cortile del piano inferiore, quindi anche a notte inoltrata è necessario scendere ed uscire in caso di necessità.

On the plane to Japan I got sick, probably due to dehydration, and him and his wife were super helpful and caring. Im very greatful for them. The room itself was really cute and traditional, I loved staying there as a solo traveler. Definitely recommend this guesthouse!

• Manuel (8/5): Not too fancy but a lovely guesthouse in a quiet area in Northern Kyoto - The guesthouse is very rustic but cozy, don't expect anything high-class, but it's still a valid option if you want to spend a few nights in Kyoto far from the crowded center. The host is extremely nice and he picked us up at the subway station since it was raining when we arrived, and he helped us arrange a taxi very early in the morning for when we checked out. The toilets are outside so when it rains you could get wet. Also the place is a bit far from the subway or bus stations so you'll have to walk for a bit

We really enjoy it and the only thing that we regreted was not staying longer (only stayed 1 night). The only minor thing: it was a bit far fror the main touristy places.

• Allen (8/5): - Guest house Bon, is a great place to stay, but if you are tall it is a bit cramped, it wasn't uncommon to hit you head on the roof, the place was very clean and Bon was very accommodating,he was the best part of the trip
• Andrew (9/5): We loved our stay at Guesthouse Bon and we highly recommend it for a friendly place in Kyoto. - Bon-san is a wonderful host. He was really fun and friendly and happy to help with anything we needed... which wasn't much because Guesthouse Bon provided everything very nicely. Not fancy but functional and friendly. Bon also speaks pretty good English which was helpful. The futon was a little thin, otherwise everything was great. If you're physically challenged you might find getting up the stairs to the second-floor bedrooms a bit tricky... the stairs are very steep and there's a low beam to duck under but there are also bedrooms on the ground floor.

• Hong-phong (9/5): Overall, we enjoyed or stay at Bon Guesthouse, which was a good value for Kyoto during Sakura season - Bon san was most attentive to his guests. We arrived late and he waited for us with good instructions and care. He prepared rental bicycle for us the next day and gave us good tips on how to make the most of our time in Kyoto. The room was basic but comfortable enough. The shower was hot and the toilet was clean. The neighborhood was quiet. We enjoyed a good night rest. There is a Seven-Eleven and an all-night restaurant nearby. The Golden temple was not too far away. The kerosene heater gave off a strong odor and seemed dangerous, but was effective. It would have been better if we could use the electric heat pump. The place was quite a hike from the nearest metro station.
• Esraa (10/5): Exceptional - Bon Guesthouse is the best guesthouse I’ve ever stayed in! It really felt like home, not just a place to sleep. Bon, the owner, is super kind, he took the time to explain all the places I wanted to visit on the map and told me about the nearby stations. He always made me feel like I was part of his family, and it was honestly hard to leave. My room was big, clean, and cozy with a heater and AC. The whole place felt warm and welcoming. If you’re going to Kyoto 🇯🇵, don’t even think twice, just book here. You’ll meet a kind person who makes you feel at home. Nothing.
• Maria (8/5): Very good - The host was fantastic, friendly, helpful, and offered to drive us to the station, which we were thankful for. We stayed in a gorgeous traditional house with tatami and spacious room for two. It took us 20 minutes to ride a bike to the city center and the host rented it for us for 600 yen a day/bike. Since the rooms are adjacent to each other with thin walls, we had to be aware of not making any noises too loudly. Bathrooms and kitchens are also communal, so If you like privacy, yeah.
• Jacky (10/5): Really great! - Friendly host and good hospitality! Mornings can be a bit cold depending on the season, but you can’t have everything for this price!
