- Vicki (10/5): Quaint pub/ hotel near Usk - This was a delightful gem of a hotel tucked away amongst the green fields just minutes from Usk. Our room was ver comfortable and cosy with lovely furnishings. Don’t be deterred by the motorway as the rooms and pub have double glazing so it is silent inside. Breakfast was cooked to order and included full English. We also had dinner which we enjoyed. The owner and staff were efficient and friendly. We hope to get back! We would certainly recommend it.

Breakfast quality very good. Evening meals good and hearty. Encountered some very narrow roads to get there. Plenty of car parking. Bit to doggy orientated for us non dog owners.

- daniel (10/5): 5 star - I work away all over the UK and this has to be one of the best places I’ve stayed in for a while. Accommodation is separate to the restaurant/bar and really quiet. Food and service was fantastic and the owner/manager was really friendly and helpful. Breakfast started at 7:30 which was great as some places this is later. Will be staying here again if I’m working in the area!

- Gillian (10/5): 1 night stop travelling home from Wales - From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by the team of very friendly staff. The room was very good with a wet room which was great for my husband. Only sight issue was the television wasn’t working but we were advised of this at check in an engineer had been ordered but it certainly didn’t spoil our stay. Our meal was fantastic beautiful produce freshly cooked. The duck was so tender and my sea bass fillet was incredible. Sadly starter and mains so good we couldn’t manage a desert! Breakfast in the morning was equally good. We will be back!!

- D (10/5): Wife's birthday trip. - We.have by this area a number of times on the way to our granddaughters in Weston not knowing what lay behind the trees.Decided to add a couple of nights on to our trip on the way back and found this delightful inn.was not disappointed,the rooms were perfect,with doors opening onto Patio & lovely lawned area.Breakfasts & evening meal were excellent & the attention of the owner & her staff was very appreciated.

- David (8/5): 2 Night Break - The rooms were comfortable, the bathroom was modern. Plenty of parking. There is a lot of road noise from the main A road, located just behind the trees. Even though there is secondary glazing, you need to open the windows as the room got too warm. Lovely garden and it was nice to sit outside to eat. Dinner and breakfast was pleasant, hot and freshly prepared. Lovely staff

- Ian (10/5): Beautiful historic gem - Set in the backdrop of the stunning Wye Valley, this pub is steeped in history and splendour. Beautiful both inside and out. The pub (including food and beer) is exemplary, as is the accommodation, which appears to have been recently renovated to a very high standard. Breakfast (included) was excellent. Staff were outstanding. Couldn’t recommend it more!

- Alison (10/5): Lovely hotel with friendliest owners and staff - Lovely quaint hotel, friendly and helpful staff, delicious food, great facilities (dog paddock with balls, agility equipment, water, poop bags and bin). Fabulous food, we had dinner and breakfast. Shop onsite that sells individual, locally produced products - from candles to handbags and Rum! Only downside (for some people maybe) is the busy road noise nearby. You can't see it as it's behind trees and it's not a danger to dogs or children but you can hear it in the summer with the windows open. The rooms are double glazed so in winter months it will not be an issue. It didn't spoil our visit but some people may find it a problem.

- Helen (10/5): Our doggy stay at The Grayhound - We asked for disabled facilities, which the hotel and Hotel.com indicated they had. The room was not suitable for any wheelchair accessibility as it had steps going into it, and you could not get a wheelchair in to the bathroom. the shower had no grab handles. We informed the owners, who recognised our issues. Fortunately my partner was just about able to manoeuvre into the room with my assistance. The owners were very hospitable, and food excellent.

- Linda (8/5): Good food - The food was very good although too much for our smaller appetites. The Inn is very pretty and quaint. The only downsides for us were that the bathroom was cramped and there were no grab rails in the shower which made it a no no for my elderly husband.

The rooms were spotless (you wouldn't know that there were any pets allowed, the cleaning was really thorough) and the service was just lovely plus there is a large, secure, dedicated area specially for dogs in the grounds which made our stay so much easier. There is a very busy road not far from the hotel and the noise is quite noticeable but everything else about more than made up for this and it didn't spoil our stay at all - the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. Lovely bar and restaurant area too with reasonably priced pub food. All in all a great base to explore the area from.

The weather is hot this week, the hotel is very thoughtful for preparing the fan in the room. The bathroom is recently refurbished. Just a little downside is the towel bowl was not very clean.

The owners closed at 6pm on the next evening (Sunday) and as we went out for the day, we were stuck for somewhere nice to eat, so we called the owners for recommendations and they went out their way to call another restaurant and even book us a table! That’s what I call 5 star service. Absolutely lovely people who run a very clean hotel. Thoroughly recommend if your visiting the area.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Short stay - Nice location. I stayed in a separate block in the grounds of the pub. Room was ok, just a bit of noise from the busy main road nearby. Boiler was not working, so no hot water. The weather was hot, but the fan provided had little effect. The pub décor was very dated, photos from the 50's on the wall, tartan bar, so needs some TLC. Ordered food which took an hour to arrive, presumably because it was busy and there weren't enough staff on duty. The food was expensive for what it was and also a different price to price listed on the menu in the room, so this needs to be amended. Breakfast was ok, but limited on choice of cereal, and the fruit was uninspiring, mandarins & grapefruit in syrup, although the offer of homemade jams was a nice touch. The lady who served breakfast was lovely and friendly, as was the young man trying to juggle all the jobs behind the bar single-handedly. All-in-all ok, but expensive for just being ok...
