• Gabriella (1/5): Filthy and run down. - Towels and sheets were clean and in good condition. Motel is gated, including parking. All entries were with key codes. The motel is run down and filthy. Room smelled musty.The chair was so filthy and broken that I didn't want to touch it. The floor is filthy looking. Lots of noise from both tenants and the building kept waking us up at all hours. No coffee. Parking is not guaranteed, but first come first served. Parking was extremely tight, even for a small car.

• Kevin (1/5): I wouldn’t waste my time staying here. You can find a much nicer hotel for around the same price. - The bathroom was big. The room was very small. The queen bed did not seem like a regular size queen bed. The leg on the bed broken and reinforced by a piece of 2 x 4. When the parking lot is full, it’s very hard to maneuver your into the tiny parking spaces.

• James (8/5): Excellent value with safe parking - I stay here regularly if I have a car. The best feature is there's a gate to keep it safe, and I think someone living on-site 24hrs. The gate has a low clearance for a very tall vehicle, but that also means no one could climb over, and since car break-ins are an epidemic in Oakland, it's reassuring. Several interesting restaurants within a few blocks, but otherwise, a commercial street, not a neighborhood. I still felt safe walking alone as a confident single white male. Supermarket is about 15 min walk. BART is about 20 min walk, pleasant enough if you choose the right route (stay north of 40th). Driving to BART is easy, and Rockridge BART is in a very nice upscale trendy neighborhood. (But don't forget to pay your parking, inside the BART station, or they'll hit you with a hefty fee!) The price has usually been one of the best values around, if you're looking for clean and safe, but not luxurious. Be aware there are stairs to get to most rooms, and no elevator. There is a very small refrigerator, but no microwave to reheat any food. The chair at the small desk is very uncomfortable.

• Arthur (10/5): I would sign up for the Signature Inn again! - The property was very well situated in the middle of Oakland in a very safe neighborhood. The hotel was right on the border of having too much security, with stout iron gates where all the rooms are only accessible from an interior courtyard. However, we have been to the Signature Inn in both Berkeley and Oakland, and they are extremely clean, completely updated, and very comfortable with reasonable rates. You can’t really have too much Security in Oakland.

• Mary (8/5): - A very basic and comfortable four day stay for the price. Cleanliness top notch; bed and pillows the best. The location on a busy street provided plenty of street noise, and the parking area was tight if in a large vehicle. Will return when in the area again.

• Abdul Samad (10/5): - I was driving solo and stayed for one night. No issues at all. This is a one star hotel so everything is pretty basic and the reception talks to you from behind a glass window. I would not have stayed if I was with family or didn’t have a car. I would not walk around in the area. Check in late check out early and be safe.
• James (8/5): - This place absolutely suited my needs for travel. Bathroom could have used a little more scrubbing on the floor and shower, but it wasn't the worst. The bedding and towels and toilet were spotless! The bed FRAME however is holding onto the memories of the last 10 years (or so it appeared.) I'd suggest a replacement to a less "impressionable" surface. Also there was a hole in one of the floor panels. Again, I can walk around it but it was very noticable. Other than that the room was spacious and nice. It had all the essentials and a nice TV and fridge. Parking was the highlight for sure. Safe and easy once in the gate. Overall the property suits the needs of most. It was mostly clean, but can use a little boost in some areas. But the price and parking is what makes this one of the best options to stay. I would stay again if I need to.

• James Brian (4/5): - The property is beat up. The photos are not close to what is on Expedia. Floor dirty and worn from suitcase wheels or other things dragged. Bed side rails worn and blackened. Property displays no smoking signs outside and in, but could see tons of cigarette butts throughout property. Vaping clearly going on in rooms around us. No Ice Machine which seems like a simple amenity that every hotel should have. Customer Service poor. Check in and every discussion behind glass is very off putting even with the health risks of our current day. Bathroom light sensor broken and constantly turns on which is tough during the night. The room is really small. The chair should be in the dumpster.
• Harold (8/5): - This motel is in a good location in Oakland, close to Lake Merritt, good neighborhoods and not far from Berkeley. The advantage was the secure parking. The room was spartan and basic. The bed was not the most comfortable, but we were there for 4 nights so we got through that inability to get a really good nights’ sleep. Lucky for us we could walk a few blocks to a great neighborhood for a simple breakfast and Peet’s Coffee!

• Mary (2/5): I would not stay here again. - I was able to park inside a gated lot. it was fairly close to my sons's work Both nights I was there, the person in the unit above my room was stomping around making thud noises and what sounded like furniture being moved. This happened at 1:30 in the morning.I should have called the manager but i don't like to cause trouble. The second night more noise at 2 different times. I barely got any rest and I had a long distance to drive the next day.

If you don't receive a gate code prior to check-in, you'll need to contact the front desk to gain access inside. Comfortable room and quite clean. Note, don't think they have an elevator. Keep that in mind.

The pictures made me think it was bigger/nicer than it really was. Overall, it was fine. Zero problems. Locked gates to get in/out. I appreciated the safety measures.
• dana (4/5): - I liked the room design was modern The room wasn't clean at all when we first arrived (the floor, the bed the shelf was filty) we didn't put the sign, but still nobody came to clean . The staff was very rude and made us feel like we were not welcome at all and that we were doing something wrong by checking in and going into our room. The parking is too small, I parked between 2 cars and I couldn't get out without climbing on top of the car..... they give very thin space for every parking spot (my car was as thick as the parking lines, and it's not too big).

It also automatically turns off after a few minutes, so if you're in the shower for longer than a couple of minutes, it goes dark. Nice to have free parking, but the spaces are very cramped. Nice, smiling, helpful gentleman behind the reception window.

• Enfang (10/5): - The best part of this motel is the safety! All rooms and parkings are gated, especially in this unsafe and limited street parking town! The Rooms are clean and spacious! Although no breakfast provided and no microwave, it’s easy to find a place to eat in a walking distance. With this price in Oakland Broadway, this is a nice place to stay. I will stay in this place next time when I come to Oakland.

• Verified traveler (4/5): - It was difficult to get in the gate and I noticed how dirty it was the moment I opened the door. I never walked inside without flip flops (that’s how gross it was.) The dresser drawers were dirty and it looked like the decorative pillow on my bed was at some point on the floor. The owners need to invest in new beds (I looked in the empty windows and their beds were dirtier than mine!) and regrout/retile or use TSP on those floors and in the shower. Replace cloth bed frames (gross) with wood or metal.
• Eddie (6/5): - Pros: price was very fair, staff was nice. Only about 20min from Oakland airport, secure free parking and the place has a cool look to it. Fridge in the room was a good size. convenient location, easy to get to San Fran (low traffic, about 30 min, heavy traffic about an hour) Cons: When we checked in, the sheets were dirty and there was hair in the bed and shower. housekeeping came up and cleaned right away. The bed was hard and really low to the ground. The room was small which is no big deal but the toilet is literally like 4ft from the bed and the bathroom doesn't have a real door, just a sliding barn door that doesn't really close. Only stayed 2 nights but probably would not stay again. mostly because the bed was so uncomfortable.

• Tour61296037868 (8/5): - Rooms were clean, easy in and out, central location - some places to eat and coffee just up the corner. It was low key, and quiet. Only thing I would suggest is to get a shade that lets light in. The shades are black and to have privacy you want these down, so it drowns out the light during the day. Other than that, it was a great little hotel. Decor was cute!

(I could smell cleaner, but there were some stains from age) If you are expecting quiet, 3/5 stars (There was some loud traffic and car alarms.) If you want amenities and a place to have something to do, you will be disappointed 2 out of 5 stars.Safety is ok. The gated parking was nice, but it is extremely limited. Check in was a little confusing because we didn’t have any codes, so we had to ask (via intercom) to be let in, and didn’t know what to do with the car initially. As a 2 star hotel I would give it a 4-4.5 rating. .

It’s just a sketchy old motel with a new paint job. There’s like 3 different names used throughout the property, even though it was cheap for the area, it felt like a scam. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Lots of great restaurants in area. Funky coffee shops and little restaurants on same st as motel as well. Across from car dealerships and very close to Kaiser medical center.

It had a small refrigerator but no mirowave. It's bed was so low, it was difficult to get up. The price was reasonable but to be apart of Sonesta, I was shocked. I would not return to this facility
• Tracy (9/5): Very comfortable, clean place. - Extremely clean place. It was nice to have the gated entrance. Very cute, updated retro motel. The room was very roomy. The bed was comfortable. It was nice to have the couch and a nice size tv. Location was very close to the paramount theater. Fridge was nice to have in the room. Definitely comfortable! The parking spots are tight. We parked in the handicap spot and when we went to our car the next morning, there was car parked in the handicap loading zone pretty much on top of our car. Dumb how the hotel allowed the car to park illegally.

Great location with restaurants nearby and less than 10 min walk to Piedmont Ave. Inexpensive. Free parking protected by locked gate. Lights in courtyard left on all night, lots of light leaked in. Some street noise. Not much surface area in the room. Owners were pleasant enough but brusque.
• Jason (5/5): good basics, but will stay elsewhere on next visit to OAK. - Basic provisions and convenient location. As a classic motor lodge where the parking is next to each room's entrances- all in a secure, gated court. Confusing entrance and location of check-in office. Pretty impersonal staff. Street noise was moderate, but hearing neighbors upstairs was loud and clear. Perhaps the upper level could avoid this, so request on an upstairs room.

On-site parking. Good wifi. We stayed there for a week during remodeling of our nearby home. Very satisfied. Would have liked a microwave.

The shower floor looked like it hadn’t been deep cleaned for awhile. The bed frame was stained in several places. Guess you get what you pay for.
• Michelle (8/5): Ok but nothing special. - It was ok. Nothing special. The bed was comfortable but low. The floor was dirty it turned my socks brown on the bottom. The water pressure was good even with the room next door also taking a shower. The bathroom door was a barn door style which didn’t close all the way making the bathroom a little cold after the shower. Plus didn’t. Lean the shower very well either. I had to call to have the gate open so I could check in. I would stay here again but not for more than a day or two. Not very much parking. But I have disabled parking so I got lucky. Parking on street if none available inside the gate. I did like that the door was operated by a code. No key needed.
• Cody (10/5): Cozy Contemporary Motel in Heart of Temescal, Oakland - We had a great stay. Motel is located in the heart of Temescal, Oakland. There are nice streets to walk around there, and nice cafes within walking distance. We appreciated the modern contemporary vibe of the interior, as well as the gated parking area.
• maikazoua (10/5): - Very cute spot next lots of eateries, only thing that was iffy for me was the bathroom door. It did not provide enough privacy and it kept rolling and opening. But other than that it was a nice spot
• jason (6/5): Not great - Noisy street. Lights kept turning off as they were in motion sensors. Very annoying.
• Anne (8/5): - What you would expect from a motel. We would have prefered the sink was separated from the shower so several people could use water at once. The fridge and air system were noisy through the night.On the plus side, the bedding was comfortable and the parking lot was gated. It was a quick ~ 12min drive to UC Berkeley in the morning.
• Judy (2/5): - Nosey, thin walls, dirty. I do not recommend this to anyone. It’s pretty rundown and visible dirty.

• Douglas (10/5): Comfy bed and clean modern room for great price - Great stay at Signature Inn. Secure parking, clean room, modern look, comfy clean bed, TV and apps work great.
• Jacob (8/5): - location is very secure but kind of hard to get into. theres a security gate at the entrance, just need to drive up to ut for it to open. as for the room, the bed we got was a full size instead of a queen that we ordered. that wasnt a big problem.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Decent place to stay on a budget - The Signature Inn in Oakland CA is a decent place to stay. Here are the positives: -Clean rooms and bathrooms -Gated Free Parking (some what) -Budget friendly -Close to walkable restaurants and shops Here are the cons: -Parking is limited so this makes using your car a gamble. If there is no parking in the lot you need to park in the street. -loud, rooms have no sound protection so you can hear everything outside -light outside is always on even with the blinds down light will bleed in. -main light in my room/bathroom was only motion sensor controlled so if stop moving it will turn off. Makes it difficult to do anymore or take a shower. -bathrooms door did not stay closed, it was a sliding door which did not have a lock.
