• Cedar (10/5): - Our room was lovely, the staff were very professional and helpful. The food was delicious with lots of choice. We had a massage with Mawan which was excellent. A special mention to Dhamanuke and to Madushanka.
• Cartledge (6/5): Other hotels we stayed at on this trip were $400 less and had no restrictions! - Loved the staff! They were very friendly and helpful. For a $1000 per night I didn’t expect a waterlogged blind in the shower and mould forming in the shower. Being told not to swim in the beach on arrival and signing a disclaimer paper was a first for us anywhere in the world. Do not promote the beach on your website if you cannot swim in it. In all the years travelling in the most amazing hotels I have never been told you cannot drink your own duty free gin. Afternoons drinks 5 to 6pm saved this law, except it was local gin. It was a beautiful view at sunset.

• Miles (9/5): Beautiful hotel right by the beach, with excellent service - This is a beautiful sanctuary directly behind the beach and completely hidden from the busy road nearby. The hotel is small and intimate, with exceptional service. The rooms are gorgeous and the staff couldn't have done more to make our stay special. The only regret is that the sea, so temptingly close, is not safe to swim in due to strong currents, but the beach is well worth a stroll down. The food was absolutely delicious. Shame you can't swim, but that's nothing to do with the hotel.
• Andrew (9/5): Extremely enjoyable made more so by the pleasantness of the staff, superb food & the idyllic situation - The location & setting were lovely with manicured gardens & an attractive infinity pool overlooking the seashore Our particular room was massively inferior to the majority of rooms which had sea views and lovely terraces or balconies. Our was described as with a terrace but it was purely a corridor leading to staff quarters. Although we had a minibar there was no where to sit & indeed the room only had 1 chair. Furthermore the matting/carpet was stained & marked.

• Helen (9/5): Like having a private villa - Stunningly beautiful, and large comfortable rooms. I slept extremely well here. Everyone keeps themselves to themselves so it often feels like you have the place to yourself. Staff will do anything for you. I also had two exceptional massages and enjoyed the cookery lesson. The price— though it was new year.

• Radhika (10/5): We absolutely loved this property and hope to be back soon! A true hidden gem - property and staff alike! - This property is the epitome of rest and relaxation! Even though the property was 70-80% occupied, we rarely saw other guests and felt like the entire place was reserved just for us. We loved the minimalistic lifestyle it embodies, no nonsense or “events” - just a place to unwind and forget about time. The beach is absolutely breath taking albeit not recommend for swim. The rooms were very good in size and had very comfortable beds. The staff were all extremely helpful and professional and accommodated almost, if not all of our request. The food was excellent and our 3 year old loved all the food on the kids menu - a big win! Also the open grass area was such a delight for our child to just run around and be one with nature which is rare nowadays.

• Paul (10/5): Absolutely gorgeous hotel in a fabulous beachside location with the most amazing staff. - Fabulous location on the beach, set back from the road and very quiet. The staff are fantastic - nothing was too much trouble and very attentive. Food was also excellent, although staying for a week it would have been nice to see a change in the menu… There isn’t much in the immediate vicinity, so if you are not happy relaxing in a fabulous hotel on the beach this may not be for you. That said, Uber works fine so we were able to travel about and see Galle, Lunuganga and other places so not really a problem. Just no alternative restaurants or anything you can walk to.
• Marinko (10/5): Wonderful place to switch off - Amazing resort, with wonderful, big, green property next to the amazing beach. Garden is quite spacious, with the open view of the ocean and sunsets. Lounge chaies are spread around the gardens, so you can enjoy the conversations with your fellow guests, or choose the remote corners for the peace and tranquility and enjoying sound of waves on your own, or with your partner. The pool is very large, and never crowded, as this 10-room resort offers plenty of space to make you feel very comfortable. If resort is full, make sure to get the lounge chair early, but if you are not there all the time, you can finnd your stuff moved away by some rude guest. Beach so beautiful, as it breaks the monotony of the long beach with massive boulders right in front of resort. Rooms are very nice, but lower priced rooms are little bit smaller than expected. Nevertheless, the bathroom is wonderful and spacious and both are very well designed. One thing that is missing in those rooms is privacy of the balcony. Breakfast is wonderful starting with the fruit platter, bakery basket and then a-la-carte option, which is second to none, with local and international variety. Dinner menu is not huge, but with well chosen dishes and affordable. Definitely a place to visit again.

• Charlotte (8/5): First experience of a hotel where what you pay determines quality of your stay! - Perfect location and charming hotel, with excellent food and service. The bedrooms are set out like an aircraft, with first, business and economy class sections. And as a result the guests behave in the same way, with the upper classes looking down on the lower classes. But there were still towel wars to get the best sun spots!!!
• Fabian (10/5): Exceptional - Kumu Beach is like being in paradise. Your eyes just won't get enough. The way the hotel is designed, combined with that stunning beach, rocks, and the pool are just incredible The staff is incredibly kind, from extra requests - such as breakfast on the go - to the chef coming to your table with dinner. The other guests were also very respectful and relax. This has been our favorite place in Sri Lanka. Wifi was a bit up and down. There isn't too much you can do outside of the hotel in terms of other good restaurants. But if you are looking to be in a paradise bubble to completely relax, this is your place

• Kanishka (10/5): Quiet place, amazing staff and very clean - Aesthetics and the view from the pool. Never too crowded as they host limited guests. Staff around for any help at all times. Free drinks in the evening. Staff was extremely cooperative and went beyond the usual to accommodate our needs. Almost everything you’ll eat is freshly cooked, including the chips, bread, jams. The two rooms we booked were deluxe. They were extremely comfortable but offered no view. The difference between a deluxe and their signature premium rooms is stark.

Would highly recommend! - Kumu beach is a beautiful venue, and very peaceful with it own little area of the beach away from too much hassle and bustle! • Stefanie (10/5): Amazing hotel! - Kumu Beach is one of the best hotels we stayed in! The place itself is calm and relaxing, only ten rooms within a private atmosphere. Our rooms were very nice, clean and spacious. The entire hotel provides such a beautiful interior with lots of love for details. Also outside, the pool area and lawn around, is so nicely arranged and the view is simply great. The service staff is brilliant, honestly interested in the wishes of the customers and provides the maximum of service that you can experience. Also the cleaning, SPA or gardening/outdoor staff is over-the-top friendly and hardworking. The food is exceptional. A variety of tasty Sri Lankan and non-Sri Lankan food is offered. Our stay way amazing, a true paradise. We will miss the peace and quiet here and are looking forward to book again soon!

The staff were all amazing, facilitating a work meeting I needed to have before check-in time, and the room (an ocean-view suite)was fantastic - spacious and private and just a short stroll to the beach which was quiet and although too rough to swim, amazing to be close to. The food was excellent - overall this is a lovely oasis of luxury in a very quiet village.
