Guest Reviews
- Simon (10/5): Excellent staff, warm, friendly attentive staff - Stayed at the 3 horseshoes as a mid way break on our way up
To
The Lake District for an wedding, hotel is clean and comfortable, bar is well stocked and they weren’t Charing rip off prices, the restaurant was very good , wide range of food available, we were joined by our daughter and 6 year old granddaughter for dinner , the staff were really accommodating with us changing time of meal … even though they seemed a bit under pressure as they had a wedding taking place …
- Jacqueline (4/5): - AVOID IF DISABLED
I have a little trouble walking because of a fractured spine. Our room was upstairs at the far end of a corridor.
The pub and the restaurant are completely unsuitable for wheelchair access (steps). So for our 3 night stay I couldn't use it, having to walk up and down stairs to eat or get a drink, and then more stairs to get to our room. I was exhausted and stressed.
I very much regret booking this place for our 10th wedding anniversary.
Spa treatment prices so expensive, I didn't bother.
The food choices were fewer than our stay 2 years ago. Meals were expensive, not reflected in the quality of the food.
On our last day, we skipped breakfast altogether. We didn't fancy grizzled bacon, underdone toast, over scrambled eggs or cheap tasting baked beans.
Guess what? We won't make another visit.
- Michelle (10/5): - Words cannot express how we feel. It was just amazing.
- James (8/5): - Good food, nice room and staff were nice
- BILL (6/5): - Hot tub isn’t really hot I was informed. Not sure how they keep bacteria level down as many people moved in and out.
- Karen (10/5): - Easy to get to. Beautiful location.
- Lynne (6/5): - Carvery was lovely but the breakfast wasn’t. Room was good but no view wasn’t.
- Beth (6/5): Poor customer service - Not great value for the price. Room was very warm and tv cable came out of the tv every time you opened the curtains.
Some in the restaurant for both breakfast and evening looked like they didn’t want to be there and weren’t interested in helping their customers.
- Amanda (10/5): Best Wedding Venue - We were staying for a wedding - the whole experience was amazing!! The spa was unreal, the prep room in the morning and the level of service was incredible. Massive thank you to Lisa who looked after everyone the day of the wedding! Fantastic - 5 star!!
- Stephen (8/5): - Really nice place and would stay again but I would probably remember to book a room with a bigger bed 😂. We didn’t do the Spa but maybe next time.
The restaurant was lovely and some amazing views overlooking the Peak District.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- MARK (10/5): - Ff
- Louise (6/5): - I thought the room was over priced at £94. The room was very dated with no breakfast. I’ve stayed at better guest houses in the same area for half the price of what it cost to stay at the three horseshoes inn.
- Kevin (10/5): - Very helpful and friendly staff
- john (10/5): - Realy nice welcome on arrival ,very quick check in excellent food ,realy comfortable clean room ,very helpful polite staff, quick to serv bar staff will definitely stay at the 3 HORSESHOES Blackshaw moor again
- Emma (6/5): - We came for a wedding. The venue is beautiful, food good quality. We paid £165 for the room. The bed and pillows were hard. We had to pay an extra £30 on top fir breakfast.
- Rachael (10/5): - Fantastic staff and spotlessly clean.
The room was a little dated in style but very clean.
- Peter (10/5): - Excellent all round
- michael (10/5): - A lot bigger than i realised.
It was a great suprise. Good size room, big shower room. Where the hotel shines is by doing all the simple thing right.
- high pressure shower
- 2 chairs in room
- bowl of sweets
- comfy king size bed
- good quality pillows
- good soundproofing
- comfortable temp.
- friendly, helpful staff
- good quality, fresh breakfast
I thoroughly enjoyed staying. My only slight criticism is that the otherwise extensive food menu only has two fish dishesand not as varied as the meat. Otherwise, food was really good and the service excellent.
- Sian (10/5): - We booked a superior double room which was lovely, shower was a brilliant pressure! The bed was very squishy though so overnight if your partner moves so do you and if you have a bad back it will not be comfortable!
Breakfast was nice plenty of options we had the burgers for our evening meal which was delicious and the drinks were very reasonable. Friendly gastro pub atmosphere with wonderfully friendly staff. The walk round the reservoir is walking distance from the hotel and we had a good long day doing the reservoir walk. Would definitely stay again and do the spa
- Robert (10/5): The Roaches - It was a birthday treat for my fiancé. I am struggling to down point anything with regards to our stay with yourselves. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was superb and the location perfect for our needs.
- Ashril (8/5): - Convenient location and a nice place.
- Bill (10/5): - Very good
- Julie (10/5): - Had a lovely stay , spa was great as was the food and drink
- Maryanne (10/5): - We had a lovely 2 night stay at this fantastic hotel. The spa was relaxing and well organised. The staff were amazing very friendly with excellent customer care. I would recommend this hotel and spa every time. Thank you for a wonderful weekend
- Shelley (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful venue. Will definitely return for a spa day!
Amazing, helpful staff and fantastic food! Faultless!
- Sharon (10/5): - Very beautiful property; room was excellent and as expected; staff friendly and helpful; only draw back was lack of regular bus service to and from Leek
- Andrew (10/5): - Relaxing and great service from all staff in all areas where I went, bar, restaurant and recent. Great shower and very happy with room overall. Stunning area of beauty.
- Andy (10/5): Wife’s birthday surprise - Friendly staffs, amazing views from both our room and the dining room, jacuzzi bath,
- AMANDA (10/5): Lovely relaxing break - Lovely relaxing break. Room very confortable and clean.Bar/restaurant staff very friendly and excellent service. Food choices were varied and meals were all delicious. Ideal location for visiting the Peak District.
- David (8/5): - jaccusi in the bath was very relaxing after a long drive. All staff were very friendly.
- Liam (8/5): Well furnished room with some minor issues - The room was clean, well furnished and had a cozy feel. We would stay here again, however, there were some minor issues. The toilet flush ran continuously and was audible at night. The cover over the shower plughole was broken and the lead on the kettle was too short and had to be used on the floor. Also the mattress was too firm for us.
- RICHARD (10/5): - Generally a nice place to to stay. The evening meal was excellent, but unfortunately that was not the same for breakfast, most definitely the "worst" full english breakfast i have ever had, dont know how they had the audacity to serve it up!!!
Will not be returning.
- Jan (10/5): - We loved it all , thank you .
- Annette (10/5): Great! - It was very enjoyable. Lovely hotel, staff were welcoming, friendly and very helpful. Room was extremely well appointed with everything we needed, and a very clean and nice en suite. Food was delicious at dinner and breakfast with a good selection. Very nice location with great views of the roaches and lovely well kept gardens with plenty of outdoor comfy seating.
- Ali (10/5): Lovely hotel in a great location - Had a lovely stay here. Great location. Rooms were very nice. Food was amazing. Next time I'll be using the Spa and booking a massage.
- Nicholas (10/5): Stopover homeward bound - Inn recommended to us and it was ideal for our 1 night stay. Nice room food was really good and breakfast was excellent
- Zoe (6/5): - Some of the staff were friendly and helpful, others less so.
The rooms were ok, but nothing special considering the price. Only stayed there to atrend a wedding, otherwise i wouldnt bother.
- Mark (10/5): - Nice hotel good food and friendly staff. Nice jacuzzi in our room.
- Brian (10/5): - Good overall
But disappointing I was not allowed to use the steam room or sauna without having to pay extra
- Charlotte (6/5): Nice location and food - rooms need updating - Staff were lovely at reception providing recommendations for the area etc. The food was nice for the evening and breakfast was good - it’s hearty pub-style food.
We stayed for our anniversary last weekend and despite stating this on the booking, this was not acknowledged
Rooms are quite dated and the Friday night wedding guests disturbed our first night’s sleep until 4am, and a hen do was very noisy during the evening for our second evening (you could hear them in the restaurant from the spa). Appreciate it is wedding season but spoilt the trip somewhat.
Spa access is not included or guaranteed for guests - so pre-booking in advance for this is essential.
- Timothy (8/5): Great location, great area for visiting. - This hotel is very well-located for touring the Peaks District. It is easy for find, and it has good parking (always an issue in the UK). The only downside was the "spa." That is a term that is extremely elastic in its use; this hotel is really NOT a spa, if you consider the original meaning of the term - there is no hot spring, etc. What they have is an outdoor hot tub. The problem is that they charge five pounds per person to use the hot tub. That seems to be "nickel and dime-ing" the customer, to me. [That's an American term for petty over-charging.] I don't mind setting a schedule to use the hot tub, but to charge for a normal, outdoor hot tub I think is going too far.
- Stephen (10/5): Nice relaxing hotel - The hotel was relaxing and all the staff were friendly and welcoming, good location for exploring the Peak District & Biddulph Grange, would definitely use again.
- Joseph (8/5): Could do better - The staff in the bar and restaurant area were excellent, both courteous and efficient,
The reception and housekeeping staff were neither, from being welcomed with a shortened version of my forename, which I am not known as, to allowing guests to hold doors open for them to allowing vacuums to continue running whilst away from them chatting.
In the room whilst clean, the shower cubicle had seen better days, also the shower itself was an immersive one with horizontal shower heads, these did not work, the plug to the hairdryer was difficult to attach to the socket and then had a switch that had to be held down, that worked intermittently. Ours was a superior room on the ground floor and as a consequence had no view.
The food was plentiful and excellent
- Neil (10/5): - Excellent
- Stephen (6/5): - Nice pub with a good restaurant and spa facilities. We paid for a superior room which was a disappointment. Unfortunately ours was an inner facing room which seem to look into the spa area. For privacy they have erected a fence literally 3 feet from the window so our view was of a fence screen. Not what we were expecting for a ‘superior’ room with a price supplement. As a superior room it has upgraded facilities mainly in the bathroom area. Ours was supposed to have a funky shower with multiple jets. Just a shame it didn’t work. Also the shower didn’t drain and there were lights in the bathroom that didn’t work. The television was old and dated and poor quality picture and cables hanging down the wall. Wouldn’t have taken much to add a cable tidy system when they revamped the rooms. Beware the bed is very very soft too so if you prefer a medium to harder mattress then this place may not be to your liking. We ate in the restaurant and the food was very good. Breakfast was typical buffet fare and perfectly acceptable. Overall a lovely area, great views from the garden terrace, clean and tidy but just a shame the room was a disappointment.
- keith (10/5): Very Pleasant - Stayed for 3 nights while working in the area.
A very pleasant and quite area. The room was very comfortable. The food was excellent. All staff were great.
- MARK (6/5): Excellent Hotel and Spa, bar staff need training - Hotel was great, spa brilliant and the staff in the spa excellent. Howeve the bar staff stood around talking about goi g to a bbq after work while customers queued.
None of them understood the hotels loyalty card, so list over 150 points because noone jnew the policy of their own card scheme.
Should have had 1 bar for public use 1 bar for residents instead of free for all.
- Michael (8/5): Happy to stay again - Upgraded room was still quite small.Good shower and spa bath.pleasant service all round with particular mention to Clare in dining who really went the extra mile to sort out my wife's meal options due to her very limited diet.
- Janet (10/5): Late Autumn friends break - Comfortable hotel, helpful and friendly staff excellent food and service.
- Stephen (10/5): The Three Horseshoe - Perfect in every way wil definitely return ,can't fault anything
- Andrew (4/5): A disappointment stay - Was a little disappointing. Couldn’t check in till 3,then there was a queue with only 1 person on reception.
Also said we were celebrating a birthday.and no extra.
Hotel room was small, old fashioned!! And very noisy.
- Will (6/5): - Lovely area with nice views of the surrounding countryside from the really nice outdoor seating area.
Pleasant check in and welcome from the receptionist.
Evening meal was really nice and reasonably priced for good quality food.
- Andrew (10/5): Wedding Stay - Great stay no problems and good food
- Clare (8/5): Good Inn - Beautiful location, good service and friendly welcome. Free parking. Location close to main road was bit of an issue for me, it was still heatwave and I had one of the rooms which faced onto the main road, very busy even at 11pm and noisy and same from 5am. No fan or way to keep the room or yourself cooler without the windows open.
Good food in the pub restaurant, book on arrival. Good buffet breakfast hot and cold options.
- Richard (10/5): Very comfortable stay - Very comfortable stay, friendly and helpful staff.
- Michael (8/5): Nice location, great staff. - Convenient location amid some spectacular scenary. Reception was great, lovely staff throughout and what a breakfast offer. Room 209 was comfortable, although I think they need to consider improving the matress on the four poster. Sleep was good though. Great bathroom, standalone shower and spa bath. I would say that the stay was quite pricey, but I do recommend.
- Anthony (6/5): Does the tail wag the dog ? - Hotel location and amenities are superb however our stay was spoilt by the attitude of a female member of staff at the bar. On arriving back from an enjoyable evening with friends we decided a nightcap was in order. However we were informed the bar closes at 11pm when we pointed out it was only 10.35 we were told in what I consider to be a very rude manner that the bar was closed and the till had been closed down for the night. It would appear this member of staff had decided to close the bar to suit her needs rather than those of the paying guests
- Rachel (6/5): Wouldn’t stay again. - We had the classic Room on the ground floor it was very dark with a view of a wall through the window. It was spacious and clean but did smell like someone had been smoking in the room. Also the extractor fan didn’t work in the shower room when we told reception they did say our room flagged up but nothing was done about it during our stay. The pillows were very hard and the bed sunk in middle. I wouldn’t say again unless other rooms are nicer.
- Colette (10/5): Business trip - Have stayed several times before. Comfortable rooms. Close to nearest town (Leek) but not actually in it.
Comfortable rooms, nice food, plenty of on site free parking
- Shelagh (6/5): - Unhelpful front of desk - when enquiring about early check in. We had a wedding to attend at the same time if check in. No flexibility at all of checking in slightly earlier. Which meant we had to leave wedding in the middle to check in - which would have been ok however the taxi service was bootable
- Alex (10/5): - Very good accommodation bar and food
- Mary (10/5): - Stayed here for a wedding, great place with lovely views, delicious food & staff were all welcoming & helpful.
- Steven (8/5): Time away - On the whole our stay was excellent. If I was being picky. Our bed was not a double but two singles pushed together. All the staff were friendly and polite but one of the evening meals was slightly tainted by the waitresses having a loud discussion about another customer and one bringing me a dessert spoon which she had been holding the spoon end in a closed hand. But would recommend and the food was excellent
