Guest Reviews
- Esteban (10/5): -
- Filip (9/5): Centraal gelegen functioneel hotel - Centraal gelegen hotel, waar het toch stil is 's nachts.
- Kamaya (10/5): - Definitely great for the price. Loved the two pools (although I didn't have time for them with frequent activities). Only 3 blocks away from 5th Avenue (Quintana Avenida). There were great restaurants nearby. Very clean. Loved seeing the Mayan culture on the walls. A more traditional and lovely hotel.
- Derek (10/5): - Great location, nice property and exceeded our expectations!
- Shelton (10/5): - My stay here was satisfactory. It was comfortable, easy accessible, clean, convenient, and put together. My room was great it had a balcony that had a view to the pool area (which was green and relaxing), had more than enough storage area, the bathroom was clean (the shower head could have been wiped and the water pressure wasn’t all that, but it did the job keeping me clean- just asked for them to clean it. No big deal. The associates were helpful just not very attentive. All three pools were all clean! Where the hotel was located was perfect walking and travel distance to everything. I would recommend this stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excelente servicio
- Mauricio (10/5): - Excelente servicio
- Lisa (10/5): - Lovely little boutique hotel! Greeted by name!❤️
- Denis (7/5): Good - Position/breakfast/adjacent cafe excellent Pool area tired, needed new sun lounger covers, garden needed dead foliage removing, lighting needed maintenance, very dark round pool. Both lifts were not working the whole of our stay, I suspect they needed overhauling and they did not wish to do it. The stairs had no lights at all, just a very low powered light on the landings. The hotel has been renamed PASSION which makes it very difficult to find when you are looking for LEYENDA the hotel we had booked. It is listed on Booking.com under both names!!
- Wessel (6/5): Old hotel in a great location. - Good location, close to the centre, but quiet at night. The hotel is old and run down.
Bathrooms were very small.
Breakfast was poor.
- Giovanni (10/5): - Excelente!
- Klára (8/5): Recommended - Location, smooth reservation process and very good and fast communication.
- Yulan (7/5): Great stay in playa. - Breakfast was great. Quick service and a good choice of menu items. Was fresh and tasty Pool area facilities need a refresh. Furniture quite old and dirty. Staff were friendly but not really providing any thing exceptional.
- Maja (8/5): Very nice place - Very comfortable room, big bed. Everything clean and neat. Very nice breakfasts. All the staff really attentive and friendly, apart from 1 guy. The guy from the night shift should really work on his attitude. We came early, the room was not ready yet so we left our luggage and went to the beach. The staff from the day shift told us to just ask them to open the garage gate so we can park our car when we come back. We did that in the evening, then I informed the reception that we didn’t check in yet and he replied very rudely.
- Latifa (10/5): - Amazing place
- Keira (10/5): - Great stay for a few nights in playa del carmen. Very central in the city. The only place I’ve ever stayed in Mexico where the air conditioning was too good! The breakfast wasn’t great (very limited choices from a menu) and alot of stairs. Not a problem for me - but definitely could be for some (especially as an elevator was out while I was there). I’d definitely stay again.
- Phoebe (8/5): - Check in was very easy, and they let us into our room a little early.
The door to the balcony, which is accessible by other balconies, doesn’t lock. The front desk attendant said he’d send maintenance but never did.
No sound insulation. Room tiny and with a kind of strange smell. The bed is rock hard.
- Ben (10/5): - We really enjoyed. Everything is walking distance from here. Good restaurants. 5th is close enough, but easy to avoid as well. Nice place. Pool needs some more warmth as do the hot tubs. Enjoyed our stay!!!!
- Mary (10/5): Cutest Hotel - I checked in at La pasion hotel entrance, quick checkin, lovely front desk staff. Escorted to the room, which was very cute, clean, with a nice covered balcony overlooking the pool. Small fridge with ice cube tray, if you want to make your own ice. Roof top bar only provides ice for drinks not room. Reasonable prices for drinks. Comfortable loungers poolside. Breakfast was included and selection was very good, always started with small fruit plate, coffee or juice and then your choice. Oxxo steps away, Walmart 2 blocks. 10 minute walk to the beach, if that, steps from 5th ave and secondary Addo bus stop in case you are using it. I loved the hotel and would go back in a minute. But the best part was all of the staff, so friendly and professional.
- Glen (10/5): - Excellent staff most beautiful boutique hotel everything is very well thought out from the building to all the knick knacks and furniture.
Extremely quiet right across from a huge Park and I was here at Christmas and over the New Year's and very very beautiful with Christmas decorations in the park.
What to say a special thank you with the bartender that's up on the pool side on the roof and ask for Pablo he's got the greatest story to tell you
- adnan (8/5): - Property has nice common atrium/garden area that is secluded and looks like small paradise. There, among tropical trees you have two small swimming pools and jacuzzi. Its very quiet and people use it to relax and read book. This is in addition to the pool and jacuzzi on the top of building. there are also other seating areas o terraces and in hallways. It was difficult to find entrance to the hotel and we passed it few times since the main entrance to it on the side street is not used but the one on the main street facing big square and that entrance does not have the hotel name but only the name of the adjacent hotel. This was not clear from their instructions. Our room was clean and nice but small and when you put kingsize bed in it there is little room left to hardly walk around bed and only one chair without work space. That is one thing we did not like about this hotel but luckily the hotel has great common areas. Bathroom sometimes have a bit of sewage smell but that seem to be common problem for many boutique hotels. There is no coffee/tea making facility in the room and no small fridge but at the reception they have tea and coffee and even filtered drinking water which was convenient. Stuff was very friendly and gave number of great tips and suggestions. The included breakfast was very basic. Hotel is greatly located near Walmart and 5 avenue and many restaurants and beach, all in walking distance.
- Joshua (10/5): - What a gem! We absolutely loved this place! Great breakfast included, 3 pools, 2 hot tubs, balcony, I mean could not ask for more. We loved the staff as well, so helpful and happy. We definitely want to come back to this spot sometime! Definitely book this place!
- Mariela (8/5): - It’s a small and cozy hotel. Very clean
- Dennis (10/5): - This was a very cozy hotel, the rooms were very nice and the garden view patio felt like we were nestled in the heart of the jungle. The people at the front desk were very helpful with our luggage and with getting my TV remote to work. They also let us drop our luggage early so we could go visit Tulum!! I would give them 10 stars if I could.
- derwin (10/5): - Exceptional, service was excellent, and even though it was not your resort choice, this service was very good. I cannot complain about anything.
- Chad (4/5): - Not very friendly staff
- Joanne (10/5): A fantastic relaxed, rustic adults only hotel in the center of Playa del Carmen - After a late night check-in we got to our room at around 12.30 am. Our room was very clean, the air conditioner very cold and we had everything that we needed, we slept well. The hotel is very rustic and beautiful and had lots of greenery on the ground floor around the 2 swimming pools and a beautiful thin white at that I liked to feed every day- the cat likes Whiskas food for ref if you want to feed him/her :-) There is another pool on the roof which we used and also a bar which is relatively cheap. I would definitely stay here again as the hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere which I like. Adults only is also a very big bonus. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good, limited in options but there is a menu to choose from. I`ve been coming to Playa del Carmen for a few years and know the area very well, It is safe to walk around and is close to the ADO bus station and Walmart is only a couple of streets away. The hotel is located a couple of blocks from 5th Avenue and is also close to Coco Bongo, however, we could not hear any music or noise at all. The nearest beach is a 10 minute walk away and is beautiful with white sand. There is nothing that I didn`t like
- Roselee (8/5): - The staff very helpful.
- Teevasq8357 (2/5): Swamp hotel - Worse hotel ever. The entrance of this hotel is through another hotel named El Paraíso. The front staff were not so friendly. The pools looked like a swamp for alligators to swim in with a yellow ribboned caution sign on the beach chairs and their furniture was very outdated and dirty. In our room the TV did not have one channel working and the AC was not so good. We tried looking for some good food to eat but we were unsuccessful and the locals were not so friendly and overcharge you so be alert. Rethink booking this hotel. There's literally nothing to do in there. P.S. I came back with food poisoning.
- Viviana (6/5): - The best of the hotel is the front desk service. Conrad was always very helpful.
The breakfast is ok to start the day. The room we got was OK but they need to invest in new pillows, new bed sheets, new towels and new pool towels. Also, the elevator did not work during our stay of 6 days.
The locations is very good, close to 5th Ave. and El Centro. The pictures don't reflect the reality of the hotel. I would not go back there.
- Cynthia (10/5): - The property and rooms were VERY CLEAN. The free breakfast was marvelous with many options. The staff was helpful and very friendly.
- Victor (8/5): - It is quaint
- Stepan (9/5): Superb - location, staff, atmosphere
- Yuhan (7/5): Good - Location is really great, although be careful the hotel is with different name. Breakfast is at the cafe next door and it was quite delicious. Facility is a bit old and it could get noisy as some of the rooms are facing street.
- Agnieszka (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Jay martin Muyco (8/5): - Close to the beach and all the shooping area
- Benett (10/5): - Nice place, great location, friendly staff.
- Victoria (8/5): - For the price and free breakfast this little treasure cannot be beat. There are 3 pools and 3 hot tubs. The garden area is simply beautiful with all the green lush plants. The garden has 2 pools both which were clean and not crowded which is nice cause you can really chill out and do your own thing without feeling like you need to make small talk. There's one hot tub located in the garden and two on the roof top which is also where the other pool is. The hot tubs aren't fancy or that hot but they get the job done. I watched the sunset from the roof top many nights. The room itself is cozy it could use a fresh coat of paint but it's not disgusting. The TV and bedside clock are a bit outdated and I wouldn't consider the facilities to be luxury by "American standards" but it is nice enough to feel safe and comfortable. My main complaint is the bed. It's SO FIRM and not enough blankets. I woke up multiple times due to being uncomfortable. There is no iron but there is a mini fridge and hair dryer in the room. The staff was friendly and some spoke English. They were nice when I showed up at 11:30 AM and let me check in at 1:30 although check in technically starts at 3 PM. They don't have a locked luggage room but they do place your luggage where they can see it in the main lobby. This hotel is about a 5 min walk from Walmart and a 10 minute walk from 5th Ave which has all the shopping and beach access. It's a couples resort but I and other solo travelers still felt welcome!
- Katia Beatriz (10/5): - Staff was super friendly and attentive
- Jorge (5/5): Passable -
- Ganna (9/5): Superb -
- Adrian (9/5): Superb - The hotel is stylish and charming. Rooms are very clean and smells amazing, climate control is super efficient but the main hall is pretty hot. Staff is super helpful and knows English so they will help you with planning your trips :)
The localization is perfect, 2 blocks away from main street which is extensively loud, so it's enough to keep it quiet and still be close to the center of the city life. definitely recommended nothing
- Nagy (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely swimming pools, especially the wiev from the rooftop one, very conformable mattress, great location(3 min from 5ta avenida and ADO).
- Georgina (8/5): Very good -
- Jary (10/5): - Very quaint, relaxing...
- Gina (7/5): A friendly, individual hotel, perfectly located but with a few shortcomings - The hotel was friendly. It was very informal and that was ok for us but others might find it too laid back. The pools were clean and uncrowded, as were the sunbeds but see later about these! Staff never bothered us for tips and very often they surprised us with free wine, biscuits and even tequilla. The position overlooking the plaza that housed the town hall was excellent. Very quiet apart from Independence day where we were treated to free bands and fireworks, comfortably viewed from the rooftop bar - where prices were low. The poolside bed mattresses were thick and comfortable but not waterproof. They were left out at night and during rain so we're often wet. The underside of some were a bit green with algae and this put us off at first. Our allotted room was overlooking a derelict building area and the balcony tiny, but the concierge changed our room to a poolside one at no extra charge. Ask if it happens to you. The address given will take your taxi to the rear of the building where there is no entrance, so be aware of that.
- David (7/5): Good -
- Maria (9/5): Superb - Good location, walking distance to the beach. Big, spacious room with nice toiletries.
- Hakan (10/5): clean and friendly staff -
- Sirma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joao (9/5): Superb - The staff
The pool in the upper floor
The localization
- Martha (7/5): It was a decent place to stay, no bad, no great - location used bar soup was left in my room
- Eduardo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adrian (10/5): - The staff was absolutely amazing! Very polite and accommodating. They gave very good recommendations for restaurants and attractions. Would definitely love to stay there again. Thank you all for your hospitality!
- Jorge (9/5): Great place and location - The staff and the place Maybe I missed a phone in the room to call reception
- Gherasim (9/5): Superb -
- Krystal (8/5): - Customer service was great! The staff is beyond helpful.
- Reynaldo (6/5): - The property is cozy but don’t expect an updated hotel. There is no AC in lobby or hotel areas, only in the room. Close to main plaza and 5th avenue. We had loud neighbors. Would be nice not to hear the bed hitting next to my wall.
- Thomas (6/5): - - Very good stay and the staff was quite helpful
- Excellent onsite garage and secure parking
- Hot-tubs need servicing (roof-top and in garden)
- The standard room is small, but managed with 1 person
- Breakfast is great
- Close to the beach and center
- Beautiful garden and interior design!
- Benjamin (10/5): - This is a good hotel. The structure is solid and beautiful. I gave it a 4 because it needs to be pressure washed and freshly painted inside out and it’ll be what is was intended to be. The rooms were small but very clean. The breakfast staff was the best of all. Its a great deal, especially being so close to 5th Avenue and the beach!
- Dogan (10/5): - Close to the beach and shopping area. Clean and friendly staff.
- Joey (10/5): - Wonderful place
- Deepak (10/5): Nice place to stay in Playa Del Carmen - Hotel staff was very friendly. Specially Walter who was very nice and helpful in identifying local restaurants. They could improve their breakfast choices.
- deepaksharmaus (10/5): Very nice place to stay - Staff is very helpful. Nice location. Pools are small but nice. All the people were helpful and helping us to find nice local things. Walter was very nice. He helped us to identify the local attractions and best restaurants in town.
- Paul (4/5): Nice Hotel good location - but not safe - Nice hotel ,good location- but it is really The Hotel La pasion - not sure why it has 2 names .
Nice boutique hotel roof top pool is excellent rooms are small but comfortable.
Sadly there was a fire on our 3rd night and the hotel had no fire alarms and no systems in place for such an event. Fortunately the fire brigade knocked on our door and escorted us out. There was no role call and no hotel staff enquired if all was well.
- Jessica Jade (10/5): - Amazing
- Tom (10/5): - Great location and great staff … that said it’s a older property and needs some renovations … I planned to stay there 10 days but ended up staying 3 weeks due to Covid infection. I was very happy to be stuck there rather at another hotel or location.
- Catlos (10/5): Perfect settings - The hotel is right in front of the beach and pretty much you get what you paid for we feel it was a great value in a perfect spot
- 60ji_n (2/5): Stolen money - Stolen safe. I highly warn against this hotel !! € 600 has disappeared from our cash in the safe. Nobody solves anything. They say it's not possible. Absolutely spoiled vacation. We saved money for this holiday for a very long time and we were robbed right at the beginning.
- Mark (10/5): Great Value With Outstanding Staff - The hotel was very nice, staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. 3 different pools, including the rooftop pool with a view were nice, and there's even 2 hot tubs. The rooms were we'll apportioned, and the outdoor patios were generous. Wifi was excellent and the breakfast, which was included, was a nice value add as it was done well, had a good selection, and great service.
- Jayne (10/5): An oldie but goodie X - What a lovely stay we had here, we stayed on 2 more nights. The staff (especially Walter) were super friendly, asking if we were ok consistently. It's a typical Mexican feel. If you're looking for clean lines and white walls this is not for you. It's quite dark in places but honestly we loved it. Where it lacks the modern look, it is far superceded by an authentic Mexican feel. I have to mention the Artisan coffee shop underneath and the Tapas bar on the night time..right on the doorstep. Why go and pay double on 5th Avenue? The Beach is a 5 minute walk as is Walmart. Thank you for a lovely stay xx
- Linnea (6/5): Nice place, but impossible to navigate. - I hate to say this bc the rooms are clean, the staff is so incredibly nice, but the hotel is like a maze or a labyrinth. It was impossible to get to/from my room. I got lost every single time and there were no internal signs to help. Checking out this was a problem bc I barely made my shuttle. Otherwise the rooms are small, but clean. The bed was comfortsble. Everyone was nice, esp Walter! But this hotel entrance is hidden and hard to find. Cab drivers get mad. So I would just go to La Pasion hotel (which is connected) but could never find my room or how to get out. It was truly like a maze. If they put up maps and internal signs, that would help. I feel bad leaving a mediocre review. If it wasn’t so confusing, I’d give it a 4/5. Other guests commented on it too and constantly asked me for directions and vice versa. Again, internal signs and maps would be sooooo helpful. Thanks.
- Miguel (8/5): - Very clean swimming pools, only problem was not enough light in the suites but other than that great hotel
- Martha (6/5): - Customer service is great!
Location is good.
Rooms are clean but dark light.
No nice view.
- Richard (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay. Very clean. Great location. Great staff. Great low cost option.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This was a great property the pictures are accurate. The outdoor areas and pools are very nice we enjoyed them for our one night stay. Rooms are small but adequate ours had a balcony. Elevator was not working but staff helped with luggage.
I would highly recommend this Hotel if you your on a budget. Coffee shop next door was good too.
- Inidia (10/5): - It was a great experience our room nice and clean with a cool air. Also, employees were very polite and friendly. It's worth it just a couple of blocks from the "5th Avenue" were all the fun is and some tours near by.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very safe, in front of a munipality plaza. Very close to everything. Beach is 10 mins away. 5av is 5-10 mins away. Walmart is 5-10 mins away. Oxo convenience store is around the corner. Roof top pool and two ground floor pools.
- sharon (10/5): Beautiful boutique hotel - Beautiful boutique hotel. Spotlessly clean. Lovely staff. Comfiest bed. The pool area is gorgeous. A beautiful garden with two pools and a hot tub. There is also a pool and two more hot tubs on the roof. Excellent location. Easy walking distance to fifth avenue and the beach, but far enough away to be peaceful. The only downside was the dreadful wifi. However, for the price we paid we have no complaints and would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is close to some excellent restaurants.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a gorgeous little property just 2 blocks from 5th. So close to all the fun but very quiet and just aN absolutely beautiful property. Excellent restaurant right next door as well.
- Erick (10/5): truly great / can only warmly recommend - truly amazing staff and a fantastic location in Playa del Carmen
The only area that, to my eyes, could do well with an improvement was the bed. Big, nice but way too soft to my gusto :)
The room was absolutely fine and "spacious" enough but indeed at times a small desk would help. As a remote "office" it would not work though there is space and good wifi on the roof of the main building.
Now the air conditioning system was efficient and silent. The WiFi worked well during my 2 weeks stay with 6 to 10 Mb up and download values and there is a small fridge in the room that was very practical. The noise insulation could be better but that is only true when very loud people book some time at he hotel.
Breakfast was very good and the team was simply amazing so that ensured a great start in the day.
The guys at the reception were so helpful and so friendly. I cannot say enough.
And the hotel is a 5 minutes walk to the sea/beach and a 2 minutes walk to Walmart (very convenient ;-) ... and there are plenty of great restaurants around.
The area is quiet, especially if you get rooms facing the 2 small swimming pools on the inside.
I spent time in the morning and late evening on the roof to relax and enjoy. The few lounge chairs were great and I did "swim" in the pool to complete the experience.
I guess I will return asap :D
Playa was not very busy due to COVID.. which helped for getting a better experience. The best beaches are 20 to 30 minutes walk to the south. Worth the walk ;-)
- Grant (10/5): Great - Great place great staff
- Jessie (10/5): Clean, Comfortable, Great Location - Check-in was quick. Staff was very friendly. Room was very comfortable. Bathroom was nice with all amenities including Robes. The location was perfect, walking distance to beach and 5th Avenue, just blocks away from Coco Bongo where all the tours pick up.
The hotel itself was very quiet though, we sat by the pools during the evening and it was very peaceful.
We stayed 2 nights and breakfast was included. Breakfast was choice of cup of coffee or glass of juice, small fruit plate and a choice of one of 6 hot items, I chose a Mexican omelet and my husband had chilaquiles with egg. Both were good and was enough food to take us through lunch on our tour.
We often stay in Playa to meet with friends before heading off to Akumal for an all inclusive stay. This hotel was perfect for our "pit stop". Definitely a good price.
We will definitely stay here again.
- backdrft76 (6/5): Average boutique hotel in a great location - This hotel is basically the same as La Pasion as they are connected. We anticipated much nicer because of that. We came away slightly disappointed as it did not live up to the Top 50 hotel in Playa that La Pasion is. While the rooms were small and the bathrooms tiny, the employees were great. There are no provided washcloths, so you are stuck washing with your hands in the shower. There is nowhere to place wet soap next to the bathroom sink. No facial tissues provided. Very few electrical outlets in the room. The mattress was comfy in the middle, but on one side the springs were busted while the other sagged. The headboard was not attached to the bed. The rooms were loud as you can hear everyone in the hallways. 1 of the 3 hot tubs was closed, and the other 2 were running or clean only half the time. The 3 pools were sometimes dirty. The rooftop daybeds were shut down during our 7 days. The rooftop bar was closed. But the included breakfast was good, and so was the wait staff and the maid service was excellent. Great location.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel. It's easy to walk to everywhere. My stay was very comfortable.
