Guest Reviews
- Owen (10/5): - Amazing accomdation for the price. recommend to anyone visiting Osaka.
- Shannan (6/5): - It was close to a couple of train stations. They let me check in early which I was very grateful for.
They did have some toiletries for free, but you had to pay for some eg, razor.... which had been free at other hotels.
Reception was friendly.
Room was ok, towels were slightly small & thin.
Being close to train stations, definitely heard the trains going by.
- Hsiang Yi (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - No frills stay perfect for the solo traveller who wants their own bathroom and in a convenient location. It's steps away from a Osaka metro stop and a Nankai/JR stop and it's 30 min on foot from Namba. Yes it's a bit sketch at night but nothing a tourist cannot handle. My only issue was annoying guests who wouldn't stop dragging chairs on the floor but that's not the hotels issue. Another issue however is that you have to pay to have your own hot water kettle, and all their body soap etc are disposable packages, but you can ask to borrow larger shampoo and conditioner bottles at the front desk. They have a kitchen as well. I'll stay again for the convenience but if I wanted more amenities or services I'll go elsewhere, there's plenty of choices on the same street.
- Matthew (10/5): - Loved it! First time travelling alone to Osaka and would recommend. Very close to stations and good walking distance. Staff were friendly and the late check in time was a life saver! Great rooms too A
- Kevin (10/5): - Hotel was sufficient for me to stay during my visit to japan. There’s a convenience store (FamilyMart) near the hotel if you want to buy some snacks for the go. But not that far from the hotel are some restaurants that offer sushi or ramen. You have two train stations, one is Dobutsuen-Mae for Osaka Metro and the other one is Shin-Imamiya for the JR-Lines.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Archie (10/5): - Dining is around the Tower area. Very good location and near the metro. Worth the price. Would definitely stay here again.
- Nabeel (10/5): - It was a great stay can’t complain!
- Bryce (10/5): - Cheap, quiet, chill
- Lucas (10/5): - My stay might have been quite long... but i loved staying here, very much!
The staff was very kind, the room was super clean and the hotel has great amenities. I can strongly recommend this place to anyone!
- Yiu ting (10/5): -
- Ming Yu (6/5): Service is good, part of living required to improv - Service is good, can speak and listen in fluent English. Counter staff explain the rule of accommodation in details. But the disadvantage is room cleaning only for 3days in a week, it is inconvenient for consecutive living visitors. Also, toothbrush cannot allow for pick at lobby. No bath is provided, only shower.
- Kin Yuen Eric (10/5): - It's my second stay here. Both times the service and quality are consistent. Staffs are attentive and polite and the ones that served me spoke reasonable English.
Considering it's a budget Inn, the size is actually better than APA at the same price range.
Area is instead in the more relatively sketchy area in Japan. But compared to certain cities in North America that I have been to which are a lot worse in comparison, I was not worried at all staying at Hotel Pivot.
- Steve (10/5): - Inexpensive as it is away from the Namba area (city centre), but the Shinsekai shopping arcade is only a 5-minute walk. Of course, other areas of Osaka can be reached by subway, and a station is present almost just at the front door.
The hotel is also not far from the Shin-mamiya station on the Nankai line to get from/to Kansai Airport. I lugged two bags (on wheels) from/to that station without difficulty.
Facilities in the hotel commons are minimal but quite alright for a tourist that will be exploring outside anyway. You can rent a bike too from the hotel but I had not done so during my visit.
The time window in which you can request your room be cleaned is rather restrictive: only certain days of the week and before 9 am. There are kettles, irons available but you have to ask; they are not in the room. The hallways on the guest floor are winding and narrow, but the single-person room I had was spacey: the size of a normal bedroom, unlike the small single-person room at APA Hotel I got at Tenma some years ago.
Air conditioning, refrigerator, and bathroom/shower were in perfect order for me. There were ample electrical sockets with USB as well. No issues with wifi.
Staff was friendly and courteous. I understand Japanese so communication was not a problem for me, but I suppose you might encounter difficulty if you tried to ask for something complicated (like directions) in English.
- Sufiyan (10/5): - Very clean and great, friendly staff.
- Trent (10/5): - Super close to Shinsekai, great location. Train station within 1-2 min walking distance. 35min walk from dotonburi. Staff were super friendly, room was very clean and had everything I needed. Great stay 10/10 no kitchen facilities in room but didn’t matter as they’ve got a kitchen area near the lobby which is free to use. Free coffee available from 5am - 11pm which was a lifesaver!
- Ken (8/5): - The hotel is really close to the Dobutsuen-mae Osaka Metro subway station, the Shin-Imamiya JR train station, and the Shin-Imamiya-Ekimae Hankai tram station for transportation. I also like how it's close to the Shinsekai district on the other side of the train tracks.
The overall vibe of the hotel was calm and laid back. The staff was very courteous. There's only one elevator, but it wasn't too busy when I used it.
My room had enough space for my large luggage. I appreciated that.
While I was there, the hot water cuts in and out while I used it in the shower. Other than that, my stay was enjoyable
- Caleb (8/5): - Overall the hotel was nice, very good if you’re traveling alone (from my experience) common amenities are offered and the staff is very friendly. The area around the hotel is not the best, not very safe either, especially at night. But other than that I would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Hotel was in a bad area. Upon checking in, the staff made me write down my residence card number despite this not being required by any prefectural or regional law, it was only done because I am not Japanese despite the fact that I live here. Room smelled terrible the entire stay, like sulphuric eggs. The TV had no bluetooth or pay per view options, so relaxing in the hotel room ended up being very boring. It’s a pity, because the room itself looked nice, but I will not be patronizing this hotel again.
- Cheuk Pan (8/5): - It is next to a train line so if you are a light sleeper, beware.
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- thesamuelloh (8/5): You get a real BANG for your buck here! - The rooms (Western style) were fine and the view was good from the 6th floor. Certainly the toilets aren't 5 star, but you get proper seated electronic seats with bidet. Further, the staff speak English albeit not the most fluent, but certainly proficient. At the time of my stay, there were tickets to the airport sold at the reception for a good price too! The staff allow you to leave your luggage in the hotel after your check out.
Location wise, this is the best place and also a foreseeable weakness, from the hotel for about 5 mins or less walk, you can enter the Subway, visit FamilyMart, enter the JR station and for a little less than 10 mins you can go to a MEGA Don Quixote (think a super great Daiso) and also board trains on the Nankai Line.
You can access train lines including: Nankai, Midosuji, Sakaisuji, Osaka Loop, Kansai Airport Express, Yamatoji and a few more lines.
The weakness of the location is due to its proximity to the Shin Imamiya station (as an interchange station), it does get quite noisy due to the passing of trains, but if you are a heavy sleeper its quite manageable.
Also from this place you could walk to Tsutenkaku Tower and visit Shinsekai area in about 15-20 mins.
Security wise, its rather safe for me as a man. No one disturbed me and everyone was proper. The cleanliness of the surrounding areas are more downtown/suburby (read: stains and cigarette butts). There are also a number of pachinko parlors in the area.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for those who can manage their expectations. If you are one of those people, you will love this place for all the convenience and value.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This hotel provides many facilities for free such as toothbrush toothpaste lotion serum etc., you can just walk in with your clothes that all!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice staff, clean room, but a little noisy because of railway.
- Shu ling (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It is very close to the subway, JR and Nankai railway.
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Nicolas (10/5): - Good place, staff friendly , close to namba and 20 minutes to all Osaka main places
- Jorgos (10/5): - Very nice staff! Even after check out we could still use the free bikes to explore the city. Great service:)
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- XinSyan (8/5): Basic & practical business hotel - This is a basic & practical business hotel, located within steps from JR & metro stations, and plenty of convenience stores & eateries.
We got ourselves a Japanese style room with private toilet. While a bit dated, it has all the basic amenities. Room has the right space for 3 futons.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- haru (10/5): - nice, clean, convenience, affordable, good location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient place to stay with good facilities, short walk to train station and close to convenience stores. Only disadvantage is that showers are only on one floor, but for the price this was a minor inconvenience.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Near the station - Does what it says on the ti and ok for location and few nights stay as near the station.
- Elie (10/5): A nice staff that puts in a good mood - Very nice people, comfortable room.
An explanation in English on how to use the airconditioner would be appreciated
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hotel staff were kind and helpful.
- nn (8/5): - This was a nice budget hotel/high-end hostel! I booked a single room on the female only floor and was not disappointed, met all my expectations! The staff were friendly, easy to speak with, and I felt safe inside and walking around outside at night! This is also only within a 5 min walk from the shin-osaka JR station, and a nearby subway station, I would definitely recommend
- JMTravels94 (10/5): Good value, clean, convenient, simply amazing! - We took a western double room non-smoking. We are so surprised that hot water/coffee/tea is provided at the lobby 24 hours! There is also an Onsen available for guest! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The shared toilets are also extremely clean with heater on the seats.
Reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We left some items back at the hotel and they kept safekeeping of it until we returned. Unfortunately we also lost an icoca card, the staff was helpful enough to call various stations to help find it. Kudos!
We will definitely come back to the hotel if we return to Osaka. The only minor drawback was that train sounds are audible from the room early in the morning but it was not devastating.
Last but not least it is 1-2 minutes walk away from 2 different train stations. EXTREMELY CONVENIENT! I LOOOVEEEE ITTT.
- RiBrown74 (8/5): Inexpensive Stay, Excellent Bath - As a solo and somewhat adventurous traveler, I seek out hotels that are not typical, but still clean and convenient. Hotel Chuo is in a unique part of Osaka, in a somewhat downtrodden area but one that is safe (it is Japan, remember!) and with amusements within a 5-10 minute walk. The hotel rooms are basic, with a roll-up futon to sleep on. Bathrooms are shared (there is at least one female floor, but bathrooms on other floors appear to be for both genders). A wonderful surprise is the traditional Japanese large ofuro (bath) that is open at certain times for men and other times for women. Also, bicycles are available to borrow, but I didn't have the occasion to use one.
- Pyargalaung (6/5): Japanese style hotel - Location is excellent.
Staffs are friendly.
Room are so many.
Room is a small are narrow.
No have balcony.
Lift is very good.
Floor mattress is comfortable.
TV is small.
Air-con is very good.
Bath rooms are excellent.
Shower and soap are very nice.
Very clean rest room.
Toilet and shower chapter 1.
But stuck in a room is real owl named " bowl".
Nice budget accommodation.
Hotel is very clean.
But too noisy as the train is passing through from early in the morning till mid night.
Old building is a tall.
Japanese style spring poor is very small.
But the poor is Romaric.
Wifi speed is very slow.
Very reasonable price.
I recommend friends to live alone.
- NerdyMariony (8/5): Traditional Japanese Futon - We stayed at Hotel Chuo for 2 nights to try out the traditional Japanese futon mat. The hotel room was clean and had all the basic necessities including free hot tea and coffee at the lobby. Location was excellent as it was near 2 train stations and had convenience stores, restaurants, and a small mall nearby. Having previously stayed at the Hotel Chuo Selene before, the noticeable difference with Business Hotel Chuo was that the lobby area was a bit more cramped and less clean compared to Selene. The older man at the front desk was not very welcoming with the guests but was not rude either. They were also nice enough to allow us to leave our luggage with them overnight before check-in date as we had travelled to another city. Overall, it was good value for money and it was good to experience the traditional futon while in Osaka.
- Adept21 (6/5): 2.5 Rating - Instead of a two, I'll bump it up to three because it was very cheap and I paid ten times less than most places. And I slept good as well
Straight from my notes on my phone:
Place looks sketchy
Not really clean
I had a Japanese style single bed. No frills. Gets the job done lodging wise. Slept fine so no I can't complain.
Front desk guy is funny (Older gentleman)
Plain Room
Futon
Fridge
Air conditioning
TV
Near what subway station? I had a nice long walk to get here.
Wifi worked at all times
- websolutions83 (8/5): ok staff, at least the bathroom is private, and there is a heater in the room - they have different types of room, smoking room, non smoking room, japanese room and the norm room. Bathroom is shared private and the room has a heater, so you don't feel too cold when you switch it on. Good if you value privacy, i don't like sharing bathrooms
- LeeWJ (10/5): perfect location near shinseikei - location just stone throw away from Shin Imamiya JR station is very, very convenient with easy access to JR line (just ride to Tennoji which is JR hub), or subway line. Shinseikei is behind the area and Denden town is within 10-15 min walk. Although bit aged, but the facilities are complete and very spacious for Japanese room standard. Early sleepers may complain of the noise from railway but after midnight all is quiet. Reception is 24 Hours and the staff is very helpful. The price is definitely a added bonus which will not make a dent in the pocket. And there is even free coffee/ tea all day long in the lounge.
- as_894032 (8/5): Great hotel - Great hotel in Osaka. Location wise, near Tsutenkaku, Namba and Kansai airport.
The room was big, clean, bed was good, and free towels everyday.
They got big public bath also.
Free water, tea and coffee too. Staffs were friendly, polite and can speak English. Recommended!!!
- 354callumm (10/5): Great value for money - Stayed here during a holiday. For the price I paid this room was excellent. Stayed for 3 nights. Room was small as expected and very clean with a fridge, small desk, tv and wardrobe. Very close to the subway station which goes to dotonbori and all the other places you need in no time at all. Will recommend to anyone.
- JT-Alberto (8/5): Good for Osaka to Kyoto and from KIX - This hotel is very straightforward to reach from KIX, which was very convenient as we arrived in the dark. Take the JR Line (Rapid Service), it stops at Shin Imamiya Station (one station after Tennoji Station). Take the East Exit from the station, and continue east (on the north side of the street), you should see the hotel immediately. --Note that street names are often a luxury in Japan, as are building numbers--
The hotel follows the shoes off, slippers on, in-house yukata (robes) wearing style of Japanese Inns. This hotel is rather loose though, so expect to see foreigners not always adhering to those principles.
Each floor has a shared toilet-room with mirrors & sinks (neither are in the room).
The only two showers are shared on the first floor. We did not have to wait in line the several times we showered.
The Japanese Style Bath (communal) is available, we did not use it.
The free coffee is pretty good.
The staff speaks manageable english.
- titafannisa (8/5): Cheap but very nice! - The hotel is really close to subway Dobutsuen-Mae station and JR Shin-Imamiya station so it's really convenient. Room is clean and pretty nice. There's a bunch of facilities like TV and fridge in the room, microwave and vending machine in each floor, and also public kitchen. Staffs were super nice and they understand English as well.
The only downside for me was the bathroom as there's only 3 of them (for the whole rooms), but overall I really satisfied with my stays here.
- krisnap101 (10/5): Good Hotel - I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. Everything are okay in here. The rooms are good and comfortable. The bathrooms and toilets are clean and easy to use. The kitchen also are complete and clean. And of course the receptionists are good, kind and helpfull.
- Hazame (10/5): So convenience! - This was the first time that I paid this less but got tons of satisfaction out of the place I stay in Japan. The location was superb, just a couple steps from Dobusuen - mae subway station exit 1 and 3 and Shin Imamiya JR station. So close to my fav Spa world and Den Den town. Even though there's no toilet and bahtroom in the room (toilets in every floor, showers and mini onsen on the first floor), but I don't mind at all. Definately stay there again next time!
- Kunkhong (6/5): So stay 1 night but listen of train sound. - The staff is very nice. Room is clean but not large. in the room not soundproofing. Some bad is soft it make backache.
- helenyee312 (6/5): stay in business chuo hotel - The location is good, near JR Shim-Imaniya station about 5 minutes walk. This is easily excess to the northern part of Osaka connecting other JR lines if you hold a JR pass. Also 5 minutes to sub-way lines. The room is simple with japanese bed with private bathroom which I booked. It would be best if the hotel can provide coffee and tea in the room instead of downstair at the common area.
- novakluniari (10/5): perfect for osaka - This hotel located only 50m from dobutsuen mae subway station and about 300 m from shin immamiya JR st so it has easy access to everywhere in osaka. They have free bike also. Room is clean. Receptonis explains everything clearly with english. Even though we need to share shower room, it's ok becoze the sower room were clean. We got free coffee and tea unlimited. We can use umbrellas and take them outside for free. Hope i can comeback someday
- preawiep (8/5): Good place to stay in a budget price, คนไทยไปเยอะ - Friendly staff.
Room is the same as in the photos, clean, with clean shared bathroom on the first floor, and shared toilet on each floor.
Location is accessible by train (Dōbutsuen-mae Station is in front of the hotel), and not too far away from the train line to the airport (Shin-imamiya station, by walk about 5-10 mins). Able to walk to Shinsekai.
There are some bicycle that can be borrowed with no charge.
The wall is so thin that I can hear every foot steps of people outside. During my stay, other room keep in and out of room and it's very loud and woke me up in the morning.
- babwara78 (8/5): Value for money for Osaka - Guys if you spend 23 Euros a night you should expect certain standards and here they went above. Staff is super friendly and always with a smile. They gave you shampoo and conditioner for the shower. Room are old and the smokers one are really smelly but all kind of clean and tighty. They say that this part of town is dangerous, not at all compared to any European big cities. Therefore I'd have no prob in recommending this hotel for budget travellers.
