Guest Reviews
- Peter (7/5): Decent accommodation and cooked food very well done - Comfortable room with large bathroom .
Good dinner at a sensible price
Plenty of parking Cooked breakfast very good but otherwise limited choice. No fresh fruit, no muesli or granola and very limited choice of cereal. Would expect rather more for the money
- Sarah (7/5): -
- Arthur (9/5): A lot better than expected - Food was excellent. Nice decor in rooms. Staff friendly and accommodating No salt and pepper on tables during meal times. Had to ask for it. Other guests had the same problem. No draught beer available as the cooler was broken
- suzanne (10/5): - Comfy room with nice view accross countryside. Breakfast was nicely prepared with good choice. Lounge and dining areas were comfortable. Friendly staff. We didn't use the spa as we were busy seeing family during our stay. Noghing, it was all great.
- Pat (8/5): -
- Joan (10/5): - The room was beautiful. The staff friendly and polite breakfast was exectional we did'nt use the spa but would nexr time we visit. Would highly recommend this hotel to family and friends. It was a bit out of the way to get into town without a car but was'nt a problem.
- Cheryl (8/5): Lovely to stay outside of lovely in a pastoral setting. - Looking out on the pastoral countryside was spectacular. Loved the cows and sheep in the fields. The atrium for meals was lovely and the parking was easy. Molly bath mat. Other than that, everything was good.
- Frank (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyable but with just one reservation. - We were made very welcome by the lady in Reception who was helpful and friendly throughout our visit. Our thanks to her. Our evening meal was excellent - tasty and beautifully presented. We enjoyed the view of the hills in the evening light. We were disappointed by the rather basic offering at breakfast - we don't have a cooked breakfast so can't comment on that but the Continental Breakfast was very limited.
- Elie (7/5): Restful but Disappointing in Some Aspects - Nice room with great view, good bathroom facilities and easy parking. We specifically requested "not two single beds attached together" and that is what we got. So we ended with an uncomfortable bedding arrangement. Also, the cooked English breakfast was mostly prepared in advance and had dried up.
- John (7/5): location excellent staf Good food. - The location Relaxation
- Zoe (5/5): Disappointing needs a good clean and refurb - Clean good view No draft cold beer
Remote
Shabby needs refurb
Soiled carpet
Flat pillows
Not clean in common areas
Needs a deep clean
- jones (7/5): -
- Christine (8/5): Quiet hotel with good service. - We were in an Annex with a small lounge with 2 small sofas, a desk and TV. The bedroom was a good size and we had 2 large single beds but at request would be a
Very large double bed with a 2nd tv. The bathroom had a
Wet room shower, which made things easier. Convenience into Ludlow and situation in beautiful countryside.
- Felicity (7/5): A nice spot to stay overnight. - On site parking. Pretty location
- Lisa (7/5): -
- Electrotechnical (8/5): good stay - All good not applicable
- Andrea (7/5): Lovely 3 night break with friends - Very good breakfast, lovely large rooms with big bathrooms.
Good drinks prices.
Friendly staff
Within walking distance of the centre.
We had a meal on the night we arrived which was very good, they also put together some sandwiches another evening whilst we were playing a game and having drinks. Could do with a little TLC in areas, my bathroom ceiling was mouldy.
The spa, although lovely, was very disorganised.
I didn't get the treatment that was booked, due to the young girl not being qualified to do a massage.
- Kerry (7/5): Just ok. - Surroundings Dated. Needs new curtains and shower was broken with no one available to fix it.
- daniel (8/5): -
- Sonia (8/5): Great place to spend a couple of days. - Breakfast in the lovely conservatory was great on both mornings. The location - surrounded by fields - was very quiet and relaxing. All staff were very efficient and friendly. The situation with being shown to a room made up as a double instead of 2 x singles was satisfactorily resolved.Having fresh milk in the minibar was a very pleasant surprise and greatly appreciated. We had booked a room with 2 x single beds but the first room we were shown to was made up as a double bed. Housekeeping staff were going to remake it as 2 singles, but had this possible, there would have been very little space to move around the room. Fortunately, we were moved to a bigger room with 2 x single beds, so finally nothing to complain about.
The spa hours were very limited (10h-17h30)
- Nicola (5/5): - Staff were generally friendly.
There was a bottle of milk in the fridge rather than UHT milk. The room itself was clean. The building looked tired and would benefit from being redecorated. There was paint hanging off of the walls. There were dead flies on window sills on the stairs.
The shower would benefit from descaling.
- Douglas (8/5): Highly recommended for a Ludlow stay. Great staff. EV charging available. - Great location, very quiet and 30 min easy walk into centre of Ludlow. Beautiful views from the hotel.
- Scott (5/5): Dissapointing. Lucky we was only there one night. Avoid. - Breakfast was the best bit about it. Carpets were filthy and stained, walls visibly damaged, dated, pictures misleading. Awake all night with boiler or extractor. Music needed at breakfast to avoid feeling like a morgue.
- Thomas (5/5): Generally Okay - Easy Parking, okay breakfast, room facilties, matress and lovely area No to little staff and building a bit run down.
Attention to details missed (Lightbulb, Sheet fitting around duvet, Curtain off the rung which let in light)
Not taken to the bedroom staying in.
Too hot to sleep in after turning off radiators - had to put fan on.
Boutique wasn't open long.
- Mrsmarried87 (9/5): Country hotel in Ludlow - A beautiful location! Stunning views. The staff greeted us and were very helpful when we asked for the bed to be made into two single beds. We had a very good room. Breakfast was good too. And quick attentive service. Thank you. I can think of anything.
- Jack (7/5): - Location, bed, fresh milk in room. Quiet. Promised robes and slippers had to be asked for. Toiletries never materialised. Slow release of water from sink. Tinned fruit on continental breakfast table. On arrival had to search for a receptionist.
- FREDERICK (9/5): -
- Jonathan (3/5): Could have been so much better with a decent General Manger - Location It was obviously refurbed well around 15 years ago but it hasn’t been maintained since. It wasn’t awful but lacked care and attention. There wasn’t a duty manager, just a few staff (weren’t unpleasant) but there was no leadership and that reflected in the experience. For example, the room wasn’t turned around after the first night and some candle holders were used to avoid us tripping on cracked outside steps. Also, to their detriment, we were never asked to book a spa or dinner - we might have done but went into Ludlow instead.
- Keith (8/5): Everything we needed for a stopover - Rooms and staff were great The quality of the food
- philip (1/5): Never again . A total flop for the start of our holiday and a major disappointment. - Lovely part of the world.
Lovely looking hotel . The reception was terrible… no welcome… just a grunt! Very off-putting!
Few people staying so no ambience or atmosphere anywhere. Seemed deserted!
Double room was two beds placed side by side . A cop out!
Dirty … especially the ceiling lights .
Revolting breakfast . Poor choice of cereals and cooked breakfast awful with tinned tomatoes… yuk
- Philippa (8/5): Fishmore had a very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere and the staff were friendly and efficient. - I liked it all. Staff were friendly and accommodating, room was comfortable, lovely view, Easy parking.
- Derek (3/5): A shadow of its former self - how not to run a hotel! - I had stayed here before and had a great experience. It soon became clear to me that since my last stay the hotel had changed hands. Staff were not friendly or welcoming on arrival - I had to enter the kitchen to chase the staff for breakfast which was a shadow of its former self. Tea facilities in the room were poor - cups without saucers, no milk or biscuits. It seemed to me that the hotel was on its uppers. Left me feeling like I made a bad mistake being there. See above in “what did you like”.
What I did like - room was nice, the hotel was very quiet and location good if you like a little walk before dinner
- David (9/5): Spacious amenities, with a good walk into the town, good food friendly staff. - Good location, friendly staff. Good food. Spacious bar and restaurant. Nothing comes to mind
- Jung (10/5): -
- Chris (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was easy from booking to the time we left. The room was nice and the view was lovely. Slight niggle evening meal seemed processed. No milk in room to add to coffee or tea.
- Bruce (4/5): Disappointing but nice location - Staff were very friendly and helpful Felt like it was being run on a shoestring
- Holt (8/5): The food was very plentiful. Staff was very friendly and the conservatory was a lovely place to eat -
- Christopher (10/5): -
- cbankwad (7/5): Comfortable and excellent value. - All was fine tt
- Diane (9/5): -
- Ceri (7/5): Comfortable - Beautiful property and in a lovely setting. I feel needs a little bit of TLC. Such a shame as has such potential. Staff friendly and accommodating. Bathroom/ shower needed a little more cleaning where the grouting was dirty and found dust above the door.
- Andy (10/5): Great location - attentive staff - Large rooms
Good secure parking
Really helpful staff Nothing
- Andrew (1/5): Disappointing - The external photo Nothing. It’s dated. Gone downhill enormously
- Tony Kaye (6/5): Friendly staff, comfortable hotel and rooms, but tired and in need of investment & modernisation - The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bedroom was acceptable but tired. The hotel is 'tired' and the pictures when booking didn't reflect that. The spa, which is owned by the hotel should, in my opinion be open to residents without charge - it is fine to charge for treatments, such as massages etc but the hot tub and steam room should not be chargeable to residents. The breakfast is just about acceptable but the food quality was very average for the price paid for our stay. The scrambled eggs and mushrooms, for example were not great. There could be more choice on the buffet, and the bread could be of better quality than simple white and brown bread. The one evening meal we had was good.
- Julia (6/5): - Lovely countryside Breakfast was a bit disappointing with tinned rather than fresh tomatoes. supermarket sliced bread, little choice of cereal and little choice of fruit. No nuts or seeds.
The bed was hard.
- Susan (9/5): -
- Janet (7/5): APRIL STAY - The young chap on reception and bar on our 2 evenings 21st and 22ndapril, went out of his way to assist us very polite and helpful, where hotel situated is beautiful , rooms lovely size , views fantastic 😀 Pillows on bed no plumpness thin nylon very poor standard , no bath mat, no salt or pepper on tables both evenings and mornings this should be standard .
- Edward (5/5): OK place. - Nice area Bedroom dated. The shower mat was mouldy.
- margaret (9/5): Great - The breakfast was very good. Dinner was good. Service pleasant. Hotel room and ensuite exceeded expectation. Nice lounge/ bar area and dining room. Nothing
- Jan (9/5): - Very relaxed stay, nice walking distance from town
- Lesley (5/5): Average. I’m glad I was there just for one night - Location good. Breakfast very average. Very slow service for a sandwich- only one member of staff Bedroom curtains need repair. Bed linen didn’t fit. No bath mat.
- SAMANTHA (8/5): Pleasant, Idyllic Stay - Very friendly staff.
Hotel set in lovely well kep grounds.
Good well balanced food choices.
Stable room was amazing. In my opinion l felt the two front of house staff; cover for reception, bar and restaurant wasnt suffient cover. (which had no bearing on thier very friendly manner and helpful approach for anything you asked).
- Barrie (7/5): Attractive building and conservatory dining area, large, warm comfortable room, friendly staff. - Cereal choice was poor. We’d have liked muesli, yoghurt and fresh fruit Had expected spa or sauna to be available to hotel guests, but it was not open and even if it had been, was an additional cost.
Menu choices for dinner were limited, the same both nights, and even then not all items on menu available.
- Roy (8/5): -
- Carolyn (8/5): A lovely break in a comfortable hotel located in easy reach of Ludlow. - Breakfast adequate, Room very comfortable. A lovely setting. The bedroom was clean and comfortable but a little dated.
- Hayley (8/5): -
- josephine (6/5): suited us exactly as we only really wanted a bed for the night. - convenient location to ludlow centre
excellent price - cheaper than travelodge - and breakfast was included
ample parking hotel was looking rather tired and in need of a refurb
- Ian (9/5): -
- David (10/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): -
- Colin (7/5): Lovely building staff helpful but breakfast a little bit of let down tin tomatoes these should be fresh sorry to say - Good location fabulous and staff very helpful Exterior of building could do with some paint
As it’s such a lovely building best to look after it
- bf81d46a106170f21c73862214d6d68f (10/5): - Excellent service, we arrived at 7.55 and dinner stopped serving at 8pm but the lady on reception said that they would stay open a little longer so we could eat.
The room was really comfortable and the bathroom was really nice. There was nothing to dislike.

- c8c5628b9730737940d70b9aab7d367b (7/5): Excellent value stay - Nice staff and good facilities Nothing
- 608572b0e7ba727fabf83566e0e91db5 (10/5): - Friendly knowledgeable staff, great room, amazing bathroom and good food
- 6c8c46c332607080919554a3e64983e8 (8/5): - Location and room were good. Evening meal not up to standard
- 115738942ce773029f6198938189239a (7/5): Fishmore stay - Location and size of room. Decor was pleasant throughout except on one wall. Had a spa. The lighting in our room was poor, plaster is coming off the walls, and the overall condition of the shower tray was poor.. couldn't use the spa as all booked up with visitors not guests. Staff had trouble with English at times and the weekend manager was a young inexperienced girl. Hope this is a legitimate operation.
- fe440aecdab0704a7850438f4177abb3 (9/5): - It was clean, comfortable and the staff were great

- 1e9e29c7012a70397e1a079574c332a4 (8/5): God location for attending English Sing Fsstival in Ludlow - Location, peaceful, staff helpful Getting used to there being no blind in bathroom!
- ee33a157eab070de7a61baada0c1003f (10/5): An excellent place to stay. - Spaceous room in this well appointed hotel, a short walk from Ludlow, with countryside views, wonderful staff, with an enjoyable full english vegetarian breakfast choice.
- a77c68924cea7087b201bded5ed06ee4 (10/5): Everything you need in a quite location with stunning views from our room. - Really quite location just a short taxi drive from Ludlow. The rooms were so very clean and the beds very comfy. There is a fridge in the room so that was a nice touch. The food was exceptional and a great price so would recommend booking a table. Staff were attentive and nothing was too much. Really nice break and would stay again! Nothing all was great.
- fe440aecdab0704a7850438f4177abb3 (8/5): -
- 44df31bd840b72fff4e033b21b66033f (6/5): Fishmore Hall exudes faded elegance - Breakfast was mediocre & didn’t look like all the ingredients were sourced locally as stated on the menu. Dinner on the other hand was excellent. Room was not as described ie. No coffee machine, no robes & bed very uncomfortable.
- d60df2cc36307109d36387a848b36fbe (5/5): We paid £124 for the best room, and expected some refinement but it was not to be. - Parking and location Breakfast was quite poor. Sausages had been re-cooked, tomatoes were tinned, and the black pudding was thin and like plastic and they only served me half a piece thank goodness.
The bedroom was a Superior but unfortunately it did not live up to its name. The carpet was old, stained and ruffled. The pillows were limp and, whilst the twin beds were bolted together to make a king size, you could feel the join. Neither of us slept. The paintwork around the doors and in the en suite was very tired and you needed binos to watch the tv as it was that small and far away.
- Holly (6/5): - Amazing views, good parking, lovely family rooms, spacious bathrooms, staff were kind Stains on the carpet, things looked a bit tired, breakfast wasn’t brilliant, wasnt able to use the spa as it required advanced booking which seems silly as we didnt require a massage or anything. Lacked atmosphere
- Anton (7/5): Average experience - The area is very quiet and the host seems to be very friendly. The bathrrom is big and nice. Overall the lication is nice and parking was good. Away from the city. The carpet had some stains, not sure what that was. The pillows werent very comfortable. The breakfast could've been little fresher. I. E. The tomatoes were out of Cannes... And the sausages seemed very dry.
- Susan (8/5): - Shower and staff Noisy road nearby.
Room service was in consistent
- Stephen (7/5): Nice comfy room staff very nice when available - Very good good choice continental and cooked breakfast very quiet not many guests More staff no one about often no one about when we left
- daniela (5/5): Quiet hotel rooms perfect for a good night sleep - Quiet rooms Breakfast second day was a mess; pitchers were not replenished at buffet, no cereal bowls available. Had to remind staff we were waiting for cooked breakfast and the muffin was replaced by a still unbaked ciabatta roll; poached eggs were over cooked. Tables that had been used were left uncleaned though the staff moved in and out of the room empty handed. Day before when manager was present, all was good.
- Tomkins (5/5): -
- Julia (6/5): We did enjoy our stay and walked to Ludlow so we didn't use our car, which was great. - The hotel is a bit outdated. We booked a superior room, however it wasn't any different than the other rooms apart from a large bathroom. The bed was comfortable but the furniture again is quite old and outdated. The breakfasts were excellent. Maybe update the plug sockets to phone adapters. We did take plug adapters so we were ok. Air conditioning to be considered, although I know this would be costly. Our room was very warm and it was only March/April. We left the windows open. The bathroom was a good size but we found the floor could get slippery if not dried after a shower, as is was an open wet area. On the Tuesday 31st March, we got back to the hotel and 9.45pm and the bar was shut. The staff member at breakfast was very attentive.
- Dafydd (3/5): Poor staff. - Location, room was quite nice reasonable value to stay. Service awful, unprofessional had to go looking for someone to Check in just game me the key and no information. I asked for a vat receipt at time told online sent 2 request no reply so ended up costing me 20% more as I cannot reclaim the vat.
Had potential but not under current management no wonder it was empty. One other rail in restaurant for breakfast complained about food cold and overcooked.
My breakfast was lukewarm and not very nice.
- Richard (8/5): -
- Rosemary (1/5): Will never go to this hotel again & will never recommend it. - Nothing this time. Stayed here previously before Sarem Hotels took over & it was a delight years ago!! No evidence of staff training. Poor chef & awful quality food. No atmosphere at this hotel any more.
The hotel needs a complete refurbishment.
- veronica (5/5): The poor food left us feeling overcharged. - The extra large bed was very comfortable, the room decor was attractive and there were 2 comfortable armchairs. We liked the tea and coffee tray, particularly the fresh milk in the fridge. We had a large bathroom and good shower although it could have had better lighting. Plenty of parking and nice garden to sit out if the weather had been good. All first impressions were good. The breakfast was very poor. Packaged bread, white yogurt in a shallow white bowl that I did not notice, Old fashioned packets of cereal but only cornflakes, rice crispies and weetabix. No fresh fruit - only tinned prunes and a few dried apricots. My breakfast (which was correct) was taken away with my husband's because his bacon was missing. It returned with cold unappetising scrambled eggs. My husband's mushrooms resembled small currants (presumably from a tin and dried out). My lamb shank for dinner titled "lamb shank of the day" - when I enquired what flavour the dish was, the reply was "well cooked". It was - and came with a jug of tasteless gravy. It would have been nice if the radiator was on in the bedroom and the TV remote was available. We did not see any manager present.

- Helen (8/5): - Location value for money
- Stanislawa (5/5): - The rooms and the bed were comfortable. There was plenty of hot water. Inexperienced staff. The hotel advertises itself as serving gourmet food. It is certainly not the case. The evening meal was dreadful. The breakfasts are meagre unless you want a full English but even these are overcooked. A cheap breakfast buffet, no musli, no yoghurt, you have to beg for a croissant. Everything other than the room was a massive disappointment
- Gill (7/5): Pleasant stay, would come back again - Comfortable beds
Helpful staff Very disappointing continental breakfast
I would have hoped for some pastries and some ham and cheese
- Anne (7/5): Wonderful staff made up for shabby building - Ample parking Not the luxury I was expecting
- David (10/5): Comfortable warm and looked after - Stunning spot with amazing views wobbly floors as I would expect of such a historical property the staff were amazing from arrival to departure
I love this place ??
