Guest Reviews
- mark (8/5): - tea, coffee, biscuits, great wifi, hot shower. nothing.
- Nigel (6/5): - The bed lining was super clean and crisp and of a high quality. Overall, The room was clean, as was the on-suit bathroom. The overall state of the property is very poor. This includes the outside, entrance area and stairs to the rooms. The furniture in my room was also in need of some repairs and updating. For the price paid, it was as expected. Another negative for me was that a number of the residents obviously worked in the local construction, as they left noisily between 5-6.00 am.

- Mitchell (8/5): -
- Bubbly188 (3/5): - The room was spacious There was dust on the doors , top of wardrobe and appliances that hadn't been cleaned for months.
There was no light in the corridor to allow you to put the door code in. There was no explanation of what to press to access the key pads on the door handles.
There's no food in the morning although there is a cafe but it wasn't open.
There was no spoon to stir your cuppa
There was clutter in the communal area.
The free parking was a commity car park not next to the accommodation.
The doors slam with no soft close which walks you up when other residents arrive back.
The bed was very old and uncomfortable
The light bulbs aren't bright
- mark (8/5): - Tea, coffee, great wifi, hot shower. Nothing.
- Steve (7/5): - Access a little difficult as keypads very temperamental. Had to ring the host on a couple of occasions.

- Tom (8/5): The Globe Inn was simple but met our needs. - Very basic which is exactly what was needed. Location great as it was close to Scarfell Pike. Some mould in the bathrooms wasn’t ideal.
- Ellie (3/5): Less than average - Self check in was good and bed was comfy enough, room was clean Very tatty place in general and in need of an update. Paper thin walls and very noisy neighbours at 5am
- mark (8/5): - tea, coffee, great wifi, hot shower, biscuits. Nothing.

- Tys (7/5): Average - Location and pub across the road was a bonus, good shower. Good wifi Could do with a little tlc, but overall nothing to bad

- Mark (5/5): Slightly disappointing. - Kirsty was helpful It is very shabby and and not worth what I paid given that breakfast was not included or even available.
- Navneet Kaur (1/5): Terrible - got last minute booking bed was wet on arrival and staff refused to change or get another room, Staff was very rude.
- guangkuan (6/5): - So confused about the check-in. Have to call for the code, and the phone number without the area code didn't work. Just wonder why they don't send it to my email?
- mark (8/5): - Tea, coffee, biscuits, great wifi, hot shower, public car park very close to Globe Inn. Nothing.

- Rebecca (10/5): A welcoming and great value for money stay! - Perfect location for us as it was just a 20 minute drive from the bottom of Scafell pike we had climbed that day! Very friendly greeting upon arrival and the room itself was absolutely spotless. The facilities were basic but everything we needed and more than we expected for the price of the room. Our only problem was that there was no onsite parking. There was a free car park nearby however this seemed to get very busy.
- Charlie (10/5): Very enjoyable, if I’m back in the area this would be my first choice for accommodation - Great location, clean room, all the facilities expected of a hotel room
- Alan (8/5): -
- David (5/5): More than adequate - It was convenient for all our needs The whole place was more than adequate for our needs could do with a lick of paint though
- Victoria (8/5): A lovely peaceful stay - I loved the cosy little room I was booked into, the room was very warm, I had a good sleep, my dog really felt at home also, great location and just where I needed to be to explore Wasdale
- Oli (9/5): - comfy bed, nice warm room, nice warm shower, very clean. Staff were quick to respond to any queries. Would stay again
- Chris (7/5): -
- mark (8/5): - Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, hot shower.
Great Internet, local public carpark nearby. Nothing.
- Victoria (8/5): Lovely stay, a peaceful night and good sleep close to hiking. - The WiFi is great, so it was easy to plan walking routes and watch tv shows whilst staying, the property is clean & tidy with basic amenities. The curtains in our room had been partially pulled off the rail previous to our stay so they didn’t close very well, the room was pretty cold with only one small radiator so you need to wrap up warm if staying in the wintering when it’s colder.
- Rebecca (4/5): Cheap, convenient but very cold. - Cheap room to bed down for the night with my dog in tow. The rooms were locked using a digital keypad on the door handles. Location good for walking. Pubs serving food nearby. The shower was decent and got hot quickly. The proprietor promptly answered the phone to help when I was having difficulty entering the property using the keypad. The room was very cold despite the radiator - it was turned on but ineffective. Had to sleep fully clothed. The room appeared clean superficially but there were cobwebs and dirty extractor fan.
- Darryl (5/5): The lady cleaner saved the day as she was the only one who replied to any calls and took time out to send another email. - The location is very convenient if you’re staying locally The globe use to be a pub which was open most days, well not anymore.
For guest checking into the hotel, they should receive a code to have access to the hotel which I didn’t not receive via email. Me and 3 other guests were waiting outside the hotel for over an hour trying to find the person in charge as all the phone numbers were unavailable
- Alex (8/5): -
- Arshdeep (10/5): -
- Timur (5/5): - Close proximity to Skafell Pike. Don't recommend going in the winter/cold months as the hotel is freezing cold. Even though they had 2 small radiators, they couldn't cope. Old sash windows couldn't keep any warmth these were producing. You'll be laughing but I actually slept with all my clothes on 😁 the hotel needs a good refurbishment, it's too old and not worth the money. I stayed the next night in Travelodge for like an extra £8 but the comfort was incomparable. Considering it's a budget hotel.
- george (6/5): - no breakfast included Never saw anyone at thehotel
- Grace (3/5): I wouldn’t recommend anyone staying here. - There wasn’t much to like. There was a quarter of a toilet roll. The windows were drafty and unclean. The headboard had dust. There was no one at the pub when we arrived we had to get our room pin from a pub opposite… (apparently not the first time that’s happened either). Everything was just dated.
- Mindaugas (8/5): -
- mark (8/5): - Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, great WiFi. nothing.
- Frank (1/5): Not recommended - Location We arrived to find the pub completely closed. There was no reception, no staff, and no information about how to check in. The phone number provided did not work, so we couldn’t contact anyone. We ended up having to go to the pub across the road to ask what to do, and they eventually managed to reach someone who gave us a PIN code for the room.
We had to enter through a dirty back gate and mouldy entrance that was full of leaves and looked completely neglected. Once inside, the room was very small and absolutely freezing — the heating wasn’t even on. We had to sleep in our clothes because it was so cold. Everything felt extremely outdated and poorly maintained, definitely not as advertised.
The only positive was the hot water in the shower, but that doesn’t make up for such a bad experience. For the price paid, this was unacceptable. We are requesting a refund due to the lack of service, no check-in procedures, and the overall poor and uncomfortable conditions.
Not recommended.
- Robin (5/5): Great location, but the service at the accomodation could have been better. - I like Gosforth and the surrounding area, so the location was perfect for me. The room was pleasant enough and the information provided on the guests landing was helpful. Great size shower and beautifully hot! The room was way too cold!!! radiators barely warm even though it was pretty cold outside. The pub downstairs was closed and no-one to help during check in, with only a text message to say this on the way to the accomodation.
- John (6/5): Bog standard an a little tired but was clean and the price reflects the condition - Easy to get into, cheap and half decent tea tray Door into property was not secure, so anyone could walk into the building and get the bedroom doors.
Property is single pane glass so chilly but he heating was on.
Curtains need updating, if you’re sensitive to light in the morning take an eye mask.
- William (1/5): - The pub opposite and the bakery across the road for a breakfast bap Asked for a receipt so I could reclaim the cost back off the company. They left a receipt in the room, but it was the wrong value and made out in someone else's name. Despite numerous requests to get a correct receipt, all attempts have failed. First and last time using the accommodation.
- mark (8/5): - Tea coffee, hot chocolate, great WiFi. Nothing.
- James (3/5): Very poor value; expensive for such a tired scruffy establishment. - Decent shower once it warmed up Expensive for the quality; shoddy decor in commons areas and not much better in the room; poor mattress; no staff or facilities of any kind.
- healy (8/5): - Clean room great bathroom and location was perfect
- Martin (1/5): Didn’t stay as no staff to check in PATHETIC - Absolutely nothing. DO NOT GO. Arrived to find no staff there at all. 2 names were on a note on a door stating their keys were in the doors. My name was not there. Went upstairs to try to find staff but none there. Bar door locked. ABSOLUTE SHAMBLES. Decided to travel back home but really glad I didn’t stay as it looked a total mess. I was then refused a refund.

- Darron (8/5): - Lovely.. clean and tidy rooms, hot shower, tea and coffee and a cheap price what more could you ask for....
- Stephen (8/5): -
- mark (8/5): - tea, coffee nothing.
- Damian (1/5): - Absolutely nothing We didn't stay in this facility because there was no hot water in bathroom. Room was freezing cold with no heating available. No staff in the building to sort out the issues, no answer on call. Absolutely disgusting and disappointing place
- Natalia (6/5): -
- miller (2/5): - Was close to my hike. Didn't like that I got a test saying key was in door to let are self's in room, got there and no key to second room and had to wait two hour to get it, down stairs door kept open so anyone could get in, bed was not comfortable, could feel springs, no staff on sight. Smelled of mould. And could see an attempt to cover mould on walls with paint. Video of how we left room to provide evidence.. kettles full of lime scale. Not happy....
- David (10/5): -
- Simon (2/5): Disgusting - Booked 3 nights but left after 2, the room was absolutely disgusting, the walls were damp, a pipe was leaking. The room hadnt been cleaned, no staff turned up as i believe the pub downstairs and the accommodation are now seperate
- Dennis (8/5): Happy wuth the accommodation for three nights. Near where we wanted to be. Quiet. - Excellent shower with really hot water.

- keith (7/5): - 2nd time we have stayed at the globe. Excellent location for us walking in the western lakes. No breakfast but we already knew that when we booked. Budgens is still closed due to fire damage so we travelled to seascale for supplies at the co-op and the chippy on the sea front.🙂 Nothing
- Emmanuel (8/5): It meets my needs -
- Mark (9/5): Convenient and friendly. Very good value for money. - The rooms were basic, but clean neat and comfortable.
- Aaron (8/5): Great stay as an overnight pitstop. Would have been top marks if food was on offer also but all in a great stay - Quiet location No food available
- Geoffrey (7/5): -
- Stuart (3/5): I won't be back. - Cheap accommodation, so don't expect much. It is habitable. The bar is nice, relatively quiet. Only two rooms were occupied on the night I stayed, indicating it is not popular. There is an Italian restaurant, Wild Olive, opposite, which is popular. The room I was allocated, No 2, had a permanent humming noise which meant you could not sleep in that room. I found another unused room in the attic where I was able to sleep overnight without disturbance. This is basic accommodation where you leave as soon as you wake up.
- Julie (9/5): Last minute booking with a great welcoming, great value for money would stay again - Great size room, friendly staff always willing to help out, lovely place to stay
- nicola (10/5): Very welcoming and comfortable - Staff were amazingly and friendly willing to go the extra mile to help with the enjoyment of being in the local area , great selection of drinks in the bar the locals all happy to chat and make you feel welcome , room was what we expected hot water and good power for the shower, room was clean bedding and towels all fresh and bed was comfy had a lovely nights sleep , tv , kettle and tea ,coffee ,hotchocolate and bottled water facilities in room with extra available if we needed right outside our room . The globe inn was very much an ideal stay for us as travelling out 3000 miles around the uk coastline.we will be very happy to use again when we passing through, thanks so much for making us feel welcome Nothing was to dislike

- Smriti (8/5): -
- Tanima S (9/5): -
- Kevin (9/5): Superb -
- Damian (8/5): Great location and price but also basic, we loved it & would stay again! - Great location and very cheap. Other guests have commented it's needs refurbishment and they are right but we personally liked the laid back style. Back of the pub is always open so just walk in to your room (which does have a lock). Gosforth is a very small village with a great sense of community so no issues. While we liked the fact we were left to our own devices we wished the towels were changed after our 2nd night.
- Glenn (7/5): Good - Bed very soft/worn. Otherwise room and ensuite bathroom very good.
Staff very friendly and helpful
- Mira (8/5): Great location and amenities - Great location to go to the Wasdale valley which is only 6 miles away. The place is clean and has all you need for a short break. Great pizza place just opposite as well.
