• david (10/5): Paradise - So 3 of us booked the guest house and it was lovely,it reminded me of a colonial bungalow,it was a short tuk tuk up in the hills form the main town,but that was not a problem as the staff would order a tuk tuk and I think it was 1usd into town,it was just so peaceful and the food was so cheap,and the size of the food was unbelievable,I would give this guest house was a 11 out of 10 . I travel a lot,157 countries so far and I wish more owners would take pride like this mad does,I will be back Nothing

• Frida (1/5): Beskidt, larmene og lod mere som en løgn at ejeren ikke havde været der, og at han ville holde det lukket! - Ingenting, det hele blev lidt en joke for vores tur i Sri Lanka vi ankom om aften til nogle unge gutter der hørte voldsom høj musik!! Jeg ville på det tidspunkt ikke anbefale det til nogen, ejeren forklarede os han lige var kommet tilbage den aften vi ankom og havde ingen ide om at vi var der og vores morgenmad blev 2 hvide brød hentet i panik fra den lokale biks og 2 vand. Jeg ved ærligt ikke om det var sandt at han selv var overrasket over hvor ulækkert der var blevet mens han var væk og han fortalte os at han ville lukke hele stedet den næste måned og fikse det, men den sidste måned har jeg tjekket at han endnu har holdt åbent hver evig eneste dag ! Ville ikke anbefale dette hotel til nogen! Der var intet dynebetræk eller rent lagen på sengen! Vi endte med at bruge håndklæderne som betræk på vores puder og ligge oven på dynen som lagen og brugte vores strandhåndklæder som dyner! Selv efter alle hans undskyldninger for hvor urent der havde været og de unge drenges modtagelse dagen før , tog han sig stadigvæk tid til at sige husk at skrive et godt review imens vi satte os ind i vores taxa! Alt! Stedet har tilsyneladende ikke været lukket for nogle bookninger den sidste måned som han sagde han ville gøre

• Tegan (2/5): - After reading other reviews and looking at pictures, we were very disappointed by our stay here. Upon arrival at the property, we had to wait to be greeted. When We walked into the property, all of the curtains were shut, and it was very dark and had a strange vibe. When we were shown to our room, it was in a bleak state. The bathroom needed repair and overall the room was not clean. I had to plug my charger in under the bed and you could tell that it had not been cleaned properly in a long time. We were only given one towel and there was no toilet roll. the view out of the window is onto a balcony filled with lots of junk. I did not find the hosts helpful and struggled to get into town due to no wifi and bad service. I asked if they could arrange a tuk tuk to take us but this wasn’t offered and luckily I got enough 4G for an uber. The radio was played all day and all night so I woke in the night because of this. we didn’t even sleep under the covers because we didn’t feel that it would be clean enough . in the morning, We went to leave around 8:30 however, there was no one to be found so we unlocked the external gates ourselves and left. This is such a shame because from other reviews, it seems that people have had a great stay here with welcoming hosts and I can see that the property has potential however we definitely would not recommend it in its current state.

• Nina (10/5): We really enjoyed the stay, good company, good food and good vibes :D - The worker there was super cool, he advised us what to see and could arrange us a tour. You can get food there. The hostel is located on a cool spot up the hill. The windows were a little bit loose and bc. of the wind was a little bit cold in the room but it was not a problem (and probably happens only in the rainy season).

• Goveas (9/5): Perfect place to stay if you want to stay and enjoy the beautiful property, peaceful surroundings. - Loved the property, staff were very warm and friendly. Breakfast was excellent and so was the location to sit and eat it in. The host did say it was on a mountain and many people don't like that. I agree with him and I was glad to have an experienced driver take me up there.
• Ravi (8/5): Excellent place for a short stay - The location is close to the Kandy city. The house itself is really nice looking and seems to be a villa. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxing. The staff is really helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacy and the beds are comfortable. I didn't use Wifi so can't comment on that. The hot-water system is working perfectly. The location is on top of a hill. Even though it's near the city it takes a windy and steep route to get to the hotel. Our vehicle had a tough time to climb the road. Fortunately a local helped us to take the vehicle up to the location. Would be great if the owners mention that in their description.

• Silvia (8/5): Very good - Massive room and super chilled place. The host is very young and happy to help you out with anything you need It's roughly 15 minutes to town with a tuk tuk. Keep in mind you'll need a vehicle to go around

• Kanishka (8/5): We had nice weekend there. 🥰 - When you visit this place you will feel like you are in a typical srilankan home instead of a hotel. Cozy and worm place to chill wiith your loved ones. Vindi is running a one man show there, but overall expirience is good. If you want calm and quite place, the mango is best place. Room were not sound proof. That's the only thing which i found as bad.

(8/5): A special house and a beautiful garden few minutes outside Kandy - The manager was helpful and kind, even though there was a miscommunication about our dinner he proposed us to order us one via PickMe and also added more data to the internet when we found out that we could only use social media (and this was not stated on booking). Thanks for your support :) The common areas are very nice, I really enjoyed the courtyard! And the house itself has a vibe. You can love it or hate it though - since it's also a bit "vintage". The breakfast was huge and tasty. Loved it! The owner of the place, Vindi, is also a character, but I believe part of the fun is also this! :) Plus, if you are a music enthusiast I believe he has a lot to share ! The room could get a revamp. It is old and kind of dusty, with a very old bathroom and furniture. With a few adjustments it could easily match the rest of the place!

Special mention for the staff person - “Amar”, he was very very helpful throughout our stay. Nothing as such. One very minor suggestion - please look if little ventilation space can be added to room without opening windows otherwise everything was perfect.

The Mango is a very nice place to stay, we really appreciated the two days. There was always some nice background music and a chill area. • Catherine (10/5): Chilled peaceful oasis in Kandy! - Absolutely loved our stay at The Mango. The Hotel sits atop a steep hill with wide verandah's looking out over the green garden. This green much cooler than the coast oasis has been the best find! Yes if you walk as we have done, it is hilly but very manageable. Our room was very comfortable and a good size, upon arrival it was sparkling clean.. Our host Vindi has been awesome he's off site currently but has answered our questions, organised Ayurvedic Treatments and a very good hairdresser for us. He told us upon checkin to feel like The Mango is our home.. it very much does feel like a home. Onsite Amara has been a wonderful welcoming host, who ensures your stay is very comfortable. Would recommend The Mango for a chilled, relaxed stay where you receive excellent service. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay!
• Sergei (10/5): Exceptional - It's just a wonderful place. My train was delayed and arrived later than I expected, but the guys met me, took me to the house, and they even had a couple of bottles of beer for me. The house is a little away from the busy area (but very close for a quick tuk tuk ride downtown), so here you can relax in the quiet and cozy atmosphere of this house, and also listen to the good music that's playing here. Everything here is great.

We had such a nice time! The Mango is a little further from the city, but with a Tuktuk it’s no problem getting around :) The tap in the bathroom wasn‘t working and there were a lot of little ants

I would recommend this place for younger travellers and probably more suited to those travelling in groups. The room had a damp/mouldy smell. The bed wasn't comfortable.
