Guest Reviews
- Asma (7/5): Nice - Cozy lodge . Good and comfortable for short stays The value of money is a bit high. They can improve on the food choices in the menu. And also the speed of service. It can be noisy at times when some guests arrive early in the morning.
- Irene (9/5): -
- Mark (9/5): Relaxing - Quiet and calm! The perfect place if you’re truly looking for some alone time
- Ibrahim (8/5): We had a wonderful stay generally - Booking.com They need to maintain the door locks
- John (10/5): Great Staycation to escape Kampala - Great and peaceful location with an amazing view. A great place to escape Kampala for a staycation while still being in Kampala. The rooms are well appointed with a mix of an artsy and rustic vibe. The beds are comfortable. They are great loungers to relax by the pool side.
- Rahwa (8/5): My stay was amazing and I would definitely go back! - The staff were wonderful. The food was amazing and the pool was so nice. The view of the lake from the lodge is very pretty and the rooms are clean and cozy. It was a bit further from the city than I expected and the surrounding a bit too dark. But it does not take away from how great the place is.
- Patricia (7/5): Good -
- Davis (8/5): Very good -
- Patricia (5/5): Passable -
- Ahmed (8/5): Very good -
- Gitta (7/5): Good - Good place. It's just hard to access using the road. Water accessibility is better.
Very limited on-site activities. It's mainly for chilling 🙂
- Njehia (5/5): Passable - The area Their service and they didnt have wifi
- Mugalula (5/5): Passable -
- Richard (5/5): Passable -
- Reuben (5/5): Calm and relaxing stacation - The calm enviroment Rats playing and making squeaky noise late in the night
- Joy (7/5): Good - The serenity of the place and water view.
The staff are warm and professional. The chef is excellent and the Manager Joan is simply awesome and pleasant. The lighting in the rooms could be better- it was too dim and the water was not warm enough. The heating system should be checked.
- Joan (6/5): Our stay was okay, did not meet our expectations but okay overall - It was quiet and serene. The staff were nice and professional. The meals were good with large portions The water in the rooms was not hot(It was just slightly lukewarm)and the cleaning of the property could be better. The room decor was rather a bit outdated, and the menu items were limited.
- Linda (7/5): Good -
- Namuddu (5/5): Too crafty. The chairs and bed luck the charm. Not romantic at all. The art needs to bring romance in the air but it’s - Privacy Too crafty. The chairs and bed luck the charm.
Not romantic at all. The art needs to bring romance in the air but it’s really not giving at all.
It’s exactly as you see it in the pictures
- Epiphane (8/5): - The property in very nice but not properly laid out. The staffs service is excellent.
- Naphlim (8/5): Very good -
- Sheila (2/5): Very terrible. The property owner needs to do better - The breakfast served was very good 1. There was no hot water in the shower
2. The water in the taps and shower was brown in color
3. No phones in the room, you have to walk to find someone to help if needed
4. New beddings are needed, the pillows were smelling bad so they should be changed
5. No security lights, the place was very dark at night
6. This place needs to do better because our stay was terrible. We ended up staying one night and leaving because of all the above. No value for money
- Shammz (10/5): Exceptional - I loved everything about this place. It is absolutely peaceful and beautiful to stay. It's calm and quiet The only thing that disappointed me was the distance that i didn't expect to be that long.
- Daphne (5/5): Fair… could have been better. - It’s a quiet place The beddings were a bit old and rusty… you could see the marks on the white beddings. The shower was hard to use. No mosquito repellent and WiFi which was included in what we’d be given. The swimming pool was dirty and the towels for swimming are old.
- Mohammed (5/5): Passable -
- Barasa (8/5): Very good -
- Mirembe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lyllian (7/5): Good - Fruit serving
- Dibabatso (10/5): Exceptional Service - Everything was wonderful especially the Christmas lunch. The stafc is really amazing and very accommodating and helpful 👌👌 The wifi was only at the restaurant and there's no plug next to the mirror so me as a lady doing my hair was tricky.
- Ivan (8/5): Very good -
- Sam (6/5): Pleasant - Food was great...
Staff was great and helpful..
The view was amazing.. I wish there was more signage to the venue only about 2signs..i thought i was lost at some point..
Pool wasn't clean so didn't get to take a deep at all..
Not many activities at the venue so had to leave during the day though i would have preferred not to..
Would have appreciated a change of towels on the 2nd day..
- Ham (8/5): Our stay at Buvi Lodge - We loved the lodge and its beautiful view of the lake. The staff were friendly and engaging though gave you your space.
The room was very well laid out and rustic just like we like!
We were happy with our meals.... Good job! We drove down .....the 18km road to the Lodge was bad!!! That was the main downside to our weekend. I dreaded the rain wondering if we'd get stuck.... luckily we did not..we waited for it to dry out
Next time we will use a boat from Nakiwogo landing site... 15 minutes!!!
Glass of wine was a little pricey I felt!
- Hamis (9/5): It was a beautiful stay. - Serenity Nothing
- Satti (8/5): Very good -
- Woods (9/5): Superb -
- Dorothy (9/5): My expectations were 97%met, i definitely plan to travel to Buvi again. - I like the quiet and serene environment, the fresh breeze, the rustic interior feel of the rooms and paramount customer service. Manager Hellen was very warm and welcoming. A variety of drinks should be added to the menu.
- Dani (9/5): I felt so welcome, safe and at peace here. Would love to come back one day. Also a big and special thanks to the manager - If you are looking for a place to find peace and quiet whilst enjoying the beautiful nature surrounding lake Victoria in Uganda, this is the place to stay. Here are some of the reasons that made me fall in love with Buvi lodge:
- I had stayed in Uganda for a month before I came to Buvi to spend my last days before heading home. What I learned from some of the touristic places here is that a lot of them assume you quite well off because you are from a Western country, hence they tend to overcharge you or charge you ‘extra fees’ that you were not aware off. Here, they are extremely transparant about the costs you will make and you are treated as an equal. The staff (especially the manager) is genuinely interested in you and want to make your stay as nice as possible.
- On google maps it looks far away from Entebbe, but only a ten minute boat ride across the lake will take you to the center
- The manager gives the best massages
- The food options are all amazing /
- Hakim (6/5): Meh - We liked the pool (it needs more cleaning and a pool deck or umbrella), and the view from the restaurant. There was no spa or massage services as advertised.
We ate pork chops for lunch on the 2nd day and got food poisoning.
There are no activities at the lodge or anywhere nearby, at least we were not informed of any.
- Arthur (10/5): Exceptional -
- Franklin (7/5): Good -
- Richard (8/5): Very good - Good, place for a get away weekend with your partner
- Lloyd (1/5): Bad -
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional - The staff (Helen, Emma, Richard, Wilberforce and the laundry ladies ... Thank you so much) were friendly, helpful and amazing. The environment and the views were just so perfectly quiet and cathartic. Truly good value for money.
- Navoda (7/5): Need improvements but ok! - The location is nice. Can spend some relaxing time. Staff is nice, food is nice! The access roads from the town are so bad. It takes more than enough time. Both ways. Other than that all ok. Not an option for one night stay if you have a tight schedule. Card payment is a mess and uses an online way. Takes time and sometimes not working.
Hot water did not work as well for me.
WiFi is so bad and no connection at all to the rooms. Even at the restaurant area, internet doesn't work mostly. Mobile connections are weak too..
- Tibaruha (1/5): not so good, no value for money , they have no VISA payments so payment is hard, they have an online visa payment system - The restaurant has great meals, just not timely They gave us dirty damp towels from the previous guests , had no soap/ bath gel in the bath room, the water heater does not heat the water
- Ekaterina (7/5): Good - Lake view, tranquil environment, staff helped us to arrange a boat trip to Entebbe
- Raquel (7/5): Nice - The location and the place was really nice and well taken care of. They really have a beautiful garden.
The staff was really friendly and helpful. The shower was stuck, little water was coming out although it was warm.
The bedshits were dirty and stained with red marks.
- Erin (8/5): - We had a lovely 5-day Christmas getaway at Buvi Lodge. The staff was kind, the place was clean, and the rooms were beautiful. Food was reasonably priced and yummy. We really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere so much.
The only negative was that because of the solar power, we couldn’t get a hot bath unless the sun was shining (I was really looking forward to hot baths, but did enjoy only one). Also, upon checkout, there was some confusion around our receipt that took some time to sort out. Next time we may pay by the day to save time at the end.
Just a heads up for anyone going on the holidays — Christmas Day was crowded, as the lodge serves a Christmas buffet for lunch and dinner and there were many extra people around in the pool and restaurant.
Despite the few small negatives, we would definitely go back again!
- Jaap (6/5): Buvi stay - It's a very nice lodge with good service and a talented cook. But it's to isolated for a long term stay. They also should provide more comfortable furniture. But overall a nice place for a few days.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I liked the view and the set up of the rooms. It was a bit of a drive of a drive off the main road to get there but it was worth it for the view. I wasn’t pleased with how much loud music I had to endure though, I went for a quiet weekend away from town and left feeling less relaxed than I expected to.
- James (4/5): Secluded hotel but disappointing - The Buvi lodge is very secluded and quiet. I can see it would be nice if you wanted a quiet getaway. The rooms are big and have lake views and the restaurant is right on the lake. However we were disappointed overall. We had booked for 3 nights but only stayed for 1. There are loads of mosquitoes in the rooms and all around the resort. The swimming pool is dirty. The food is mediocre and very small portions. The mattress is rock solid. There are some windows that only have netting on them and no option to close them so the room was very cold. The WiFi was so slow that it basically didn’t work.
