Guest Reviews

- Raul (10/5): Excellent location, attentive hosts and beautiful room. - Excellent location, attentive hosts and beautiful room.
- Ingela (8/5): -
- Thomas (10/5): Charming place - Location, good eats close by
- Pamela (10/5): Would love to have stayed more than just 1 night to enjoy the room and area more. - I loved the rustic charm of the room and hotel itself.
- John and Lu (10/5): -
- Juan (10/5): Super!
Nada
- Marie (9/5): - Perfect stay for the end of our Camino! Comfy beds, big bath, netflix TV and right around the corner from the cathedral. Spotless clean, lovely old decor and noise cancelling windows, black out curtains. 2 nights, great stay. Would love a kettle for a cuppa!
- Sergei (10/5): - Everything was excellent. We would stay there again.
- Michael (10/5): Great place for our last night in Santiago. - They kept our luggage until check in and the room was great. Nice balcony right in the heart of the central city. Close to taxi stand where got to the train the next day to go to Madrid. Everything was great. You have to be careful you can get lost in all these narrow streets, and the buildings all look alike, but that is on me not them.,

- Conor (10/5): - Absolutely charming hotel in a perfect location in Santiago. It felt old-fashioned but still comfortable, and was in a slightly quieter part of the old city that was walkable to everything. Staff was so helpful during both check in and in arranging a taxi to the airport for us. Perfect end to our Camino!

- martin (10/5): - Location, size and contrary to others opinions was quiet. Would have liked a kettle. They Did have a fridge.
- Ruben (9/5): A really good option is Santiago. - Location was excellent. Felt safe. Place was clean. Staff was attentive. Noisy floors but not a deal breaker. I would stay here again without any hesitation.

- Sharon (8/5): Location, location, location - Location was excellent for seeing Santiago. Room was comfortable and clean.
- Lynda (9/5): Perfect location for a one night stop! - The location was amazing. Clean room great bathroom! It was noisy....due to the location. There is no AC so this is not a summer hotel. There was a great fan!
- Petya (10/5): Location amazing- right in the old town! - Location amazing- right in the old town! N/a
- Michelle (10/5): Great location - Location
Friendly staff Nothing
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- William (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sylvain (8/5): Very good - The location even if it can be noisy at late night from some party goers
- Clare (9/5): Superb - stayed here many times before. really like the location and rooms. always very clean and staff always friendly and helpful. perhaps blankets could have been provided as an additional layer at night as santiago can be chilly!
- James (9/5): Wonderful stay in Santiago de Compostela! - The room was great. The beds were comfortable & we had a balcony overlooking the streets of old Santiago de Compostela. It was convenient to the Cathedral, restaurants and shops. The owner gave us excellent recommendations on great places to eat.
We had one minor glitch - no hot water one evening. We contacted the owner & he had someone over to fix it within minutes. Couldn’t ask for better service. Nothing - would definitely stay here again & highly recommend this property to anyone staying in Santiago.
- Virginia (8/5): Great central location - Very comfortable, immaculately clean and very central - brilliant location close to the cathedral, restaurants and shops. A warm welcome from our host. It was a bit noisy at night (the down side of a great central location).
- Georgina (9/5): Superb - Lovely room in an old building in the heart of Santiago de Compostella. Exposed beams and plenty of room to spread out.
French windows with rail to watch the world go by
Great place to stay after finishing the Camino.
As it is the old town, rather noisy with late night celebrations.
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Liz (10/5): Exceptional - I had a great stay here. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the town.
Very spacious room that is full of character. Beds are very comfortable and clean. Well worth the price.
- Marta (8/5): Very good -
- Judy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Raquel (10/5): Exceptional - Big room. The staff and location are great and it was very clean. A bit too pricey.
- Robert (9/5): Superb - I had stayed in Santiago after Camino many times before but this was the first time I arrived with a partner so we decided to get a double room - it was a Saturday night and we only looked to book the night before, so a lot of places were sold out and we did pay more than we’d intended. That said, it was quite an experience staying so central with everything on the doorstep. It’s a little noisy at night and with the street cleaners in the morning (the old city is closed off to traffic except for a few hours in the morning for the streets to be cleaned, deliveries, rubbish collection etc.) but we were so tired we slept just fine. I would highly recommend so as to soak up the vibe of the city and I personally would stay here again.
- Kate (8/5): Cozy but noisy - Decent size room, clean, nice bathroom with a hairdryer. Beautiful balcony! When it`s noisy outside it`s noisy inside and even three pairs of doors aren`t helping. One of the shops/restaurants was playing music until late in the night so I had to sleep with earplugs.
- Antonela (9/5): We loved our stay here - Amazing location, spacious and comfortable
- Nancy (9/5): Comfortable room in the heart of the city - The location was perfect. Within walking distance of everything and right in the heart of Santiago. The room was spacious and the balcony was a great space to watch the world go by. Nothing
- Kristin (7/5): Great location - minimal comfort. - Beautiful old building - great location - very clean. Physical key entry shared between 2 people. Gap between door & floor (due to old building), beds very basic - not very comfortable for price of room.
- Sid (10/5): Excellent place to end a Camino - Wonderful location It is fine
- Judith (9/5): Superb location, wish the room had a kettle and cups - A superb location close to the Cathedral in the heart of the old town. A large, clean room, and a bathroom with a proper full-sized bathtub. The addition of a kettle and tea or coffee making supplies would make this room perfect.
Also be aware that no-one is at reception, however, they will provide you with a WhatsApp number to message them with the time of your arrival and someone will come to let you in at that time.
- Catherine (6/5): Good for a short stay in a central location - Good location for the main square and the cathedral. Plenty of places to eat and get drinks nearby. We were grateful to the host for changing our room from one on the top floor to the first floor. Location was noisy until late and the bed was rather too firm for me.
- Kristin (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic location with lots of character and very clean. Not applicable
- Lenny (10/5): Very nice - Location
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Curt (9/5): Would highly recommend. - Fabulous location. Roomy accommodation. Small fridge was a plus. Wonderful stay! Everyone was good.
- Cynthia (9/5): Superb -
- Finn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good - Great location. Comfortable and homely in the middle of everything. Supermarket, restaurants and cathedral right there. Quite noisy 24/7 and no air conditioning. No tea making facilities.
- Sharon (8/5): Lovely historic building with comfortable furnishings - Centrally located, close to cathedral. Clean and comfortable. We had to extend our stay due to not being able to book transportation out of Santiago and they were very accommodating A little pricey after walking the Camino but probably a good deal compared to what they could charge
- Patricia (8/5): Did not notice the lack of checkin on site in the listing so it was a hassle to get in. - Location and vibe Checking in
- Jon (9/5): Comfortable spacious room in great location. - Great location, comfortable, spacious room with good sound attenuation when needed, nice bathroom and very good host. The lighting could have been better
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roger (8/5): A great place to stay whilst in Santiago de Compostela and we look forward to our next trip. - We love the property which we have stayed at three times. It has been sympathetically restored retaining all the original features and yet incorporating all mod cons. It is also most conveniently situated close to the cathedral in the old town. There is nothing we dislike about the property, we love it.
- Teppei (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (7/5): Clean, tidy, comfortable guest house close to the cathedral - Location was very good within 5 minutes of cathedral
Room was large and comfortable
Bathroom was clean and neat with a good shower Unable to leave bags although there are a lot of left luggage places in Santiago
Basic guest house at hotel prices - more of a Santiago issue than the property
- Garnett (7/5): Good - Location.
Clean. The cost was €150.00.
I was expecting tea and coffee making facilities.
- Mark (8/5): Very good - Superb location 200m from cathedral. Lovely old stone townhouse with polished wooden floors and panelling. Simply furnished but lots of character. Modern bathroom. My room overlooked a busy lane approaching the cathedral, but the double glazing what noise there was did not penetrate at all. A lift would have been helpful. Would have liked a kettle in the room. Wooden floors meant I could hear footsteps in the room above, although fortunately those guests were very quiet. You have to tell the owners when you will arrive as they will come and meet you; there is no reception area.
- Helga (9/5): Superb - A comfortable and well located place. The staff was very flexible with our checkout time, which was very helpful. The credit card machine did not accept foreign cards, which I imagine can be very problematic for some travellers.
- Fergus (9/5): Superb - Very pleasant if short stay, staff couldn't have been more helpful.
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Cho (8/5): Very good - Location No 24hrs reception
- Erks (6/5): Pleasant -
- Maureen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gordon (7/5): Good -
- Nordby (8/5): Very good -
- Sid (10/5): Exceptional -
- Henry (9/5): Great. - The staff was extremely helpful. When I arrived at the train station at night, there was a city sponsored race, which made it impossible for me to get a taxi directly to the hotel. The hotel staff spoke to the taxi driver and instructed him on where to drop me off snd they sent a staff member ON FOOT to meet me and assisted with my luggage on the walk to the hotel Very nce.
- Anni (9/5): Superb -
- Dawn (9/5): great location and room!! - best bathroom in our entire camino trip! gorg bathroom. great location! noisy street but patio door and shutters kept noise out when closed.
- Josefina (9/5): They let me stay extra time till my train departure - Near to bars and restaurants No elecator
- Priscilla (9/5): Excellent option if you’re traveling light and are in good shape for stairs! - beautiful old building in the middle of the historic district no elevator
- Daniel (8/5): Ok had fun - Location and staff where good Beds were a big to thin
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lai (8/5): Very good - The room was big and the location excellent.
- Monica (10/5): Hidden Gem - This is a hidden gem! Do not let the “2 stars” make you think that this property is low standard. When we first arrived, we called the phone number and in 10 minutes they came in and checked us in easily. Super friendly and smooth check in. It is an old building, but so charming. It’s very clean and somewhat elegant. We had no complaints other than the wifi being kind of slow. However, who needs wifi when it is such a great location? It sits next to all the restaurants, 5 minute walk from the cathedral, 5 minute walk to the park, and a supermarket right outside the door. We were afraid that we would hear all the noise late at night with our balcony hanging over all the restaurants, but it is so solidly built that it was quiet. This place is so much more worth your money than paying double or triple the price for other similarly located hotels. When I go back to Santiago, this is where I will want to book again. First class establishment.
- Candice (10/5): Charming - Great location and loved the quaint and charming room.
- Hector (6/5): Solid yet noisy pension in Santiago - Santo Grial is a pension-style hotel in the middle of old Santiago. Checkin was easy albeit treatment was a bit rough. There is one common area but we did not use it - not inviting and too dark for our taste. It was clean, though. It is right in the middle of town, walkable to anywhere.
The room and bathroom were big, clean, and adequate; mattress needs changing, though. Closet is huge. Room had huge windows that opened to a beautiful plaza. WiFi worked well.
Our main issue with this pension is the noise. Our room faced Rua do Vilar, one of the busiest streets in all of Santiago. During the day, it was lovely. But, at night, in the first floor of the adjacent building, there is a cafe/bar that closes in the early hours of the next morning. And they set up tables outside. And the plaza is right there. People were not only loud, but drunk-loud until 4am, sometimes later. We did not sleep for the two days we stayed there. DO NOT get a room facing the street unless you want to join the party outside.
Check-out was easy - we just left the key in the room. No human involved.
All in all, if you are in party mode, this is your hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved it all. Sweetheart checked us in and held our bags while we waited for our room to be ready.
- Finn (8/5): Basic but OK - Basic but OK and service minded staff
