Estelle (10/5): Lovely hotel with an outstanding staff team - Lovely hotel, we stayed in the lodge which was really comfortable, staff were outstanding and food was excellent. Later check out and the Breakfast hamper was a welcomed treat. The living area was a little cold, we couldn't seem to get it up to a comfortable temperature. A couple of blankets would have come in handy but it didn't affect our stay.

Helen (8/5): - This is a lovely hotel with excellent service and big comfortable rooms. We had paid for half board so were very surprised when we were hit with a ‘discretionary’ service charge when we came to leave. We thought everything had been paid upfront. Dinner was excellent but breakfast was extremely ordinary, No better than at a Premier Inn or equivalent. The excellent service and convenient facilities were somewhat marred by the constant reminders that if we were to take anything home we would have to pay high prices for the replacement. This was particularly ridiculous in relation to a book which had been left in our room, supposedly chosen especially for our enjoyment. It had obviously come from a charity shop for £2.99 and was quite battered. We don’t have a problem with this but apparently had we chosen to bring it home with us. we would’ve been charged £7.50.

The rather limited menu obliged one to choose 2 or 3 courses which were tasty but strongly reminiscent of early nouvelle cuisine in portion size. Fine by us as we eat lightly but over-priced by comparison with other favoured restaurants.

Everyone we interacted with from reception to the restaurant and cocktail bar were so friendly, knowledgeable and full of great recommendations - shout out to Harry for chatting with us about his cocktail making process and making the most amazing cocktail, with chili, that I've ever had! Dinner was a beautiful experience, every dish was beautifully presented and utterly delicious. The hotel itself and the grounds are so beautifully kept, it was just lovely to wander around and enjoy the place. We will be back for certain, possibly for one of the gourmet evenings.

Sarah (10/5): Beautifully located, wonderful hotel with exceptional service. - Beautiful hotel in lovely surroundings the drive up to the hotel is impressive even in the winter. Our room was wonderful we stayed in a master double room in a corner room with double aspect windows looking out the front and side of the hotel towards the lake. The facilities in the room were excellent and the complimentary honey flapjack was delightful. The library room next door to the bar was lovely and cozy with the fire on and we enjoyed our afternoon and post dinner drinks in there. Our evening meal was lovely and there was a good wine list to complement your chosen food. The complimentary turn down service was lovely as they set out tea cups with relaxing herbal teas suitable for bedtime. The staff were courteous, friendly and provided an excellent level of service on a par with 5 star hotels. The breakfast was excellent and we sat at a table near the window with a lovely view out over the rear grounds of the hotel. It was a perfect relaxing overnight stay for me and my husband which is what we both so needed and we will definitely be returning. Nothing

Local sausages were delicious Service was statchy The staff were overpowering. Very efficient but very cold and unfriendly. They. Need to rel ax when serving you
Jon (9/5): Very nice weekend break, at a price. - Beautiful hotel in lovely surroundings. Very comfortable rooms and nice bar and relaxation rooms. Very nice cream tea and breakfast the following morning. All the staff were very helpful and attentive, especially Victor who is extremely kind and helpful. I didn't like the dinner menu. Much too limited and very little food at an extortionate price. Even some of the staff said they wouldn't eat in there! We also found all the cereal bowls hadn't been cleaned properly in the dishwasher and got a staff member to replace them at breakfast.

Karen S (10/5): The prefect stay - This was a surprise stop for us, and we were super grateful for it. The hotel had comfortable beds, great food, excellent staffing, and just a really amazing bar (please try the French 75!). Our room was a cold, and they brought us extra blankets and a space heater immediately. Very responsive and attentive to guest needs. Perhaps our only quibble, and I say this to help the staff who must want to tear out their hair during each shift, is with the music: there is a kind of easy listening pop-covers loop that contains about 4 songs. You best like "Torn" a great deal because you will hear it like five times at breakfast. It must be required because when we first entered the bar another set of songs was playing, and was promptly changed to the weird "clone" music.

Su (10/5): Staying for family gathering. Nice hotel but rather expensive considering no gym/pool/spa etc - Lovely old building. Huge rooms. Log fires. Too warm. Duvet/bed covering was too heavy. Also kettle was put away every day. Pain to keep getting it out. Plates for breakfast were huge. We were on a table for six. Just not enough room for six plates, side plates, tea, coffee, toast etc.
Margaret (9/5): Family Get-Together - I liked the main building, grounds, lounge area with fire. size of hotel room (Deluxe) and the staff. We only had breakfast at the hotel and the service was excellent. Very friendly Reception staff. Conservatory bar felt cold and unwelcoming. The staff did attend to the lack of heat. This area needs an update/refurb.
Barb (10/5): A lovely relaxing break - good food and enjoyable walks. - There was a lovely relaxing feel and the room was very spacious. We enjoyed all areas of the property.
Terry (8/5): Very good - Beautiful old house converted to hotel. Some rooms are better than others depending on original size. Staff were very good, friendly and cheerful. Breakfast for £20 seems expensive for the portion size.
