Guest Reviews
- Ana (9/5): It was adequate. I slept well, bed and facilities were clean, breakfast options plenty. - Breakfast looked good, many options, including tiny omelets! Coffee tasted good and strong. Bonus! The cost - I ended up paying $160+ for want is really an average room in an average hotel. I think a price point of $100 per night is much more in keeping with the quality of the room/ hotel.
- Thomas (10/5): very pleasant stay. would be happy to come again. - very good staff who worked hard to accommodate a need to reschedule. beautiful facilities and good breakfast.roo room was a bit small for the price we paid.
- Logan (10/5): - Extremely clean, the woman working breakfast was the sweetest
- Campbell (7/5): I would stay there again. - Great location, breakfast was decent. Room on first floor very noisy.
- jonathan (10/5): - Clean room and clean towels I’m pretty good breakfast

- Timothy (8/5): - Decent and well supplied Many price as it went up on the weekend to double
- Clayton (8/5): - Fairly convenient to downtown Roanoke. Breakfast good but staff pushing everyone out at 9:00 as opposed to 9:30 posted.

- Susan (7/5): Adequate stay - The property wasn’t a good location. The check-in Clark was very friendly and unprofessional. The room was clean. There were several items wrong with the room that had not been fixed. There was an exhaust fan in the bathroom that was broken and made noise the entire time. There was a bank for plugging in electrical items that have been pulled away from the wall and the wires just left exposed.
I reported these problems to the desk club the next morning. She didn’t act that interested or really apologize. I’ve never had a hotel that did not offer something, the least little thing, for such problems.
- LESLIE (9/5): Stayed twice so far and will return - Spacious suite, clean and comfortable. Pet friendly. The breakfast was quite good. Pet fee is a bit high.
- J6064OIlawrences (10/5): Salem, VA overnight. - We stopped on our way down to Charleston, SC from Vermont. Wonderful place for a stopover, just off I 81.
- Jamie (8/5): Our stay was very pleasant. We most definitely will return. - Nice clean comfortable room. Staff was very friendly . Breakfast was wonderful with a variety of food gravy, eggs, sausage biscuits oatmeal waffles cereal muffins etc.Coffee was perfect. I could hear the television in the next room most of the night.
- Tatyana (10/5): -
- Bethany (8/5): - Heated pool was great. Room was very clean. Bathroom and shower excellent. Free breakfast was well above other hotels. Difficult check-in. Couldn't find our prepaid reservation. Had to pay for the room again. That took over an hour. Booking.com immediately refunded my money A+ for you
- WBS5 (10/5): Very clean and new - Newly renovated. Every part of the hotel was extremely clean. Staff was very, very friendly and attentive. Breakfast had more options than most similar hotels. You will not be disappointed with this hotel.

- paulpM5593IX (8/5): Basic but decent - Does the job, a basic hotel but works
Exceptionally clean in all areas
Significant sized room, booked King Studio and well happy
Shower excellent, very powerful and nice cubicle
Breakfast mediocre although decent choice, cereal, waffle, porridge, toast, eggs, bacon……. staff variable but lady on there was superb, very friendly
Breakfast times do vary, early finish at 9am on weekdays, 10am weekends
Reception staff tend to be unengaged but not really an issue, have little to do
10 minutes drive to Salem for bars and restaurants, nothing walkable l
Tip / get room at back of property which overlooks the woodland, front view over car park not attractive - own room had view blocked by entry canopy
- Kaitlyn (10/5): Would absolutely recommend staying here. -
- Kaitlyn (10/5): - The hotel is very clean and the staff were friendly. This must have had the best breakfast I have ever seen at. A Fairfield Inn.
- Fearless519460 (10/5): Fairfield staff saved the day! Great room and great service. - Elaine at the front desk is an angel from heaven! We were essentially refugees from a nearby hotel that turned out to be a nightmare upon check-in. We called the Fairfield and Elaine took excellent care of us - and our dog, Willy. He loved the doggie welcome package! The hotel is clean, comfortable and quiet and the breakfast was great. Nice sized room with very comfy beds. Skip the nearby spots and go right to the Fairfield - it's totally worth the few dollars extra to be comfortable and cared for. In fact, had we booked it in advance, the cost difference between this lovely spot and the place we ran screaming from would've been hardly anything. Totally worth paying the dog fee as well. Just one night here, but we take this particular road trip often and will stay here again!
- Linda (10/5): Everyone was so nice. Very thoughtful of the traveling dogs. - The breakfast was delicious. Offered many different options. The hostess was extremely friendly and made me feel welcome.
- justthe2ofusand5kids (10/5): Good stay, great staff! - The hotel is clean and comfortable, but the staff were the best part of the stay. The front desk check-in was smooth- she helped us add a senior discount to our stay. The breakfast hostess, Debra, was very kind and attentive. All in it was a good experience.
- William (10/5): Will stay again. This is our return visit. Staff is extremely helpful and welcoming. Suite is very comfortable. - Location, staff, cleanliness, suite with sofa and small kitchen excellent. All was good.
- Erika (10/5): - Breakfasts were wonderful, and the staff was very accommodating and helpful.
- Sarah (2/5): - As a disabled person, the first issue arose when there were no luggage carts. I physically can't get my luggage without one and their begrudging solution was to wheel out a filthy dirty linens cart to use. Gross. While trying to just check in, the clerk clearly had better things to do and, in fact, grabbed her backpack and left the hotel in the middle of check in. When we finally managed to get to our room, the beds were both sagging in the middle. All in all, this was one of the rudest and worst hotels I've ever experienced.
- Steven (10/5): - Perfect overnight stay after a 3-night hike! Comfy bed to rest before heading home. Breakfast was delicious!
- Robert (10/5): - Staff very helpful
- TouringSM (8/5): Nice place. Terrible breakfast. - Driving across the country and I booked a night at the Fairfield. Nice hope, clean and comfortable, everything you'd expect from the Marriott brand.
The "hot" breakfast, however, is horrendous. Some sort of scrambled egg product (powdered?) and the thinnest bacon I've ever seen. There was an "omelette" that was palatable. There was nothing else offered to anyone who was diabetic. Lots of cereals, bagels, bread products, and fruit. The coffee was hot, which I was thankful for.
I'll stay here again, but I'll avoid the breakfast.
- bensY3186HA (10/5): A fine experience with Ms. Nastassia & Ms. Tasha Cunningham…two wonderful ladies! - My wife and I would like to render a heartfelt compliment on behalf of Ms. Nastassia Brown (aka Nas) who was so pleasant in her professionalism, that the swiftness with which she accommodated was like a really nice surprise!
We would like Ms. Nastassia to be recognized for her painless customer service which made our stay a good one, for that (Lord willing) we shall return!
PS
On our way out, the kindness continued by way of Ms. Tasha Cunningham.
- Mackenzie (10/5): - Clean and very friendly staff
- williambA8992LS (10/5): Good pace to stay - Welcoming staff, clean rooms, better breakfast choices than similar spots. Desk staff handed bottles of cold water when we checked, looked up my Marriott number when I couldn’t find my card.
- Peter (8/5): - Very spacious room with many flat surfaces for suitcases, and other travel needs. Breakfast variety was very good, and the staff in the breakfast room was very accommodating in ways we haven’t seen before in most of our stays at other hotels.
- Barry (8/5): - Very nice ,clean room Staff very helpful
- Michael (10/5): - Good stop for college tour
- Kevin (4/5): - When I booked I asked for a non adjoining room on the first floor l. Upon arrival I was given a room on the second floor which wasn’t a big deal however it was adjoining and handicap accessible and dirty. I immediately called the desk and inquired and she stated the room type I requested was unavailable. I find that hard to believe because I checked in approximately 3:45pm and the parking lot was empty. Throughout the remainder of the day the place started to fill up with guests checking in so what she told me an about my room type not being available was total bull! I have stayed at this location many times over the years but most likely my recent stay with you was probably the last. Be honest and don’t lie to customers as I travel frequently and know when I’m being lied to!
- thomassF1848RV (10/5): Great stay - Jacky at the front desk was just the Best! She was prompt to welcome me at the front desk and was super nice, professional, and helpful.
- Anita (10/5): - Perfect. Best hotel I’ve been to in a long time. Super clean, great breakfast options, near highway, nothing broken or damaged , walk in shower, tons of room storage, great coffee.
- bamabev95 (10/5): Nice - Seems to be recently updated. Friendly staff. Nice room. Will stay again when in town to visit family. Good coffee to start the day
- Alicia (10/5): - Room was nice. Breakfast was excellent and the lady who was working the breakfast area was extremely nice!
- ETeal (10/5): Exceeds Expectations - My son and I stopped by Roanoke on our trip to Nashville this month and stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Salem. Parking and Check-in were fine. Common areas were clean and welcoming and the front desk staff greeted us and gave us a couple bottled waters and a cookie.
Our room was clean and in good shape. Plenty of room. The beds were comfortable and the AC worked well. No issues with the TV, either. Fridge had no freezer, but that was OK. The Ice Machine on our floor was broken, so we had to go to the ground floor to get ice.
The hotel has plenty of amenities tat we arrived too late to use. A gym looked particularly nice and we saw a guest using it in the morning.
Breakfast was good. Eggs were on the soft fluffy side (which I don't prefer) but tasted good. They had bacon as the protein --- always a plus. Coffee was good and they had Equal for me. They kept the breakfast bar stocked - initially there was no bacon left, but it came once I got to my seat and I returned.
The shower was fine - everything worked well. Lots of hot water. Everything clean and no noises to bother us.
So a great stay! I recommend stopping here if you are in the Roanoke area.
- Eloise (10/5): - The hotel was convenient for our travels, clean, and the staff was friendly without any hassles. Recommend!
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Itvwas great!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Pros- Clean, Family Friendly, ample parking, great breakfast selection, location, the breakfast gentleman (Sunday 8/30) was so friendly and so sweet to allow my toddler son who is worlds most pickiest eater a few extra scones to take on the road since it’s hard to find food he likes. Huge TV. BEDS ARE AMAZINGLY COMFORTABLE and clean !!! Pool is perfect for toddlers/young kids because it isn’t deep or big. Check-in evening lady very courteous (Saturday 8/29)
Cons - Condition of room wasn’t highest quality, Broken off pieces, stains on lower part of walls by bed. Room was an end room on 3rd floor - figured maybe because we had toddlers they put us in the room that’s maybe the lower end of their usual standards, but we were fine with it because we have toddlers with special needs and they can get loud. Check-out lady (8/30) was not the most courteous. Seemed like we were a bother to her when I asked for a receipt for business reimbursement. She said Hotels.com will send me a receipt - but when traveling don’t have a printer.
FYI - the pool is not best for laps or swimming as an adult. Was great for kids.
- Derric (10/5): - Great suite options depending on your needs with full accommodations for you furry friends. Breakfast was plentiful, hot, and delicious. Would recommend.
- Corrie (8/5): - Staff was very accommodating and friendly.
Bathroom was not properly cleaned
- 60drer (10/5): Absolutely wonderful and cozy place - My stay was excellent from start to finish. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and welcoming, with every detail well taken care of. The staff as a whole was friendly and professional, but I would especially like to recognize Latasha at the front desk. She went above and beyond to make me feel valued and taken care of. Her professionalism, warm personality, and helpful attitude truly stood out and made my experience even better. Housekeeping kept the room spotless, the amenities were convenient, and I felt at home the entire time. I would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning.
- Melissa (10/5): - Beds were comfortable, place was spotless.
- Stacy (10/5): This stay exceeded my expectations and allowed us to continue the trip well rested. - We needed to make an expected stop for the night and found this location online. We enjoyed everything about this property. We were so thankful to have found it. We would definitely stay here again!
- Kimberly (2/5): - Like a Seinfeld episode - I made the reservation, they did not keep the reservation. But they sure did try to keep my money.
- TravelerO279 (10/5): Convenient location, good place to stop - Came through Salem area for a baseball game (Salem Red Sox A league), and this was the perfect spot to stay for the night. Comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and convenient location. You're very close to I-81 and downtown as well. It's set off the highway so it's quiet as well. Breakfast was good with plenty of places to sit.
- Monica (10/5): - Great place!

- Euna (10/5): - 깨끗하고 넓고 편안했습니다 저는 개를 몹시 무서워하는데, 정말 많은 개들이 있어서 공포스러웠어요
- cassandrahO3015MZ (6/5): Not the best but not not bad - I was a little upset that they would not but let us cancel the reservation which was less than 24 hrs. The pool had hair in it and they did not stock towels in the pool. Breakfast was good but they did not refill the sausage. Breakfast ran from 8-10 and we got there before 9. The hotel was clean and the service was friendly when we were at the hotel.
- Tracy (10/5): - Loved the dog welcome gift!
- IngridMos (10/5): Hotel for Salem or Roanoke - New or newly renovated hotel close to the highway. Easy on/off to visit locations in Salem or Roanoke. Spacious rooms with sitting areas, comfortable bed. Nice folks at the front desk. Highly recommend

- Jill (10/5): -
- Sunshine05168528505 (10/5): - We were hesitant about where we wanted to stay until we got here. The front desk Agent Pinal was amazing. She made me feel
Comfortable, she explained everything. The pool is the perfect temperature and the overall ambiance of the hotel is very comfortable.
Pinal made this particular stay a very nice experience

- Sean (10/5): - I'm coming back
- Sean (10/5): - Nice staff was great stay
- Y5230KRdanielg (10/5): Pleasant surprise - We stayed at this hotel twice one week apart and we were very happy with the staff that checked us in, once Jacky, the other, a very nice women who is on shift before Jacky. After a five hundred plus mile trip it was great to be treated very professionally and courteously. They say they are a dog friendly hotel and they deliver on every front, including a nice dog kit with fun surprises. The rooms were clean and all accoutrements in place. The breakfast was very good and the person in charge, makes sure everyone is well cared for. This not a 5 star hotel, but for their category, they are delivering on all front
- Lisa (10/5): Amazing stay! - Our room was so clean and comfy! The breakfast had such a variety of choices and we all looked forward to coming back a few days later for our trip on the way home! N/a
