• Ann (10/5): - Sandra our host was so friendly and accommodating. She made sure the room suited us and if there was anything else needed. The location was great! Highly recommend!!!
• Yulia (7/5): It was absolutely fine for a short overnight stay. - We only stayed one night at Maison Dieu Guest House, and for that purpose it was perfectly adequate overall. The bed was large and comfortable, so we slept well. It was also a plus that parking was available — we could leave the car there and easily walk into town or conveniently call an Uber to the castle. Communication was quick and straightforward, and the check-in via key code was simple as well, which made the arrival very pleasant. Overall though, it was absolutely fine for a short overnight stay. We stayed in room 6. I had actually hoped to get one of the rooms with a view of the castle — perhaps that’s something you need to specifically request in advance. The bathroom, however, was very small and felt a bit improvised, almost like a converted storage room without a window. The house was also quite noisy, and we could clearly hear conversations from the neighboring rooms. Fortunately, it was mostly older ladies staying there, and it became quiet later on. We also found the smell in the room a little unusual, as it strongly smelled of incense.

• Paul (7/5): Comfortable, but a bit of a squeeze. - The single bed was surprisingly comfortable, given it was somewhat short for my 6ft frame. Single room and external bathroom/ toilet are VERY small. That is not immediately obvious from their website.... Makes things difficult if you have luggage. I had a backpack and it was a squeeze to fit everything in comfortably. The accommodation holds itself out as "walker friendly" but I saw nothing to substantiate that. Indeed if you arrive after 1:30pm you can't get any access to leave your backpack so as to explore Dover & the castle unencumbered. You have to carry it around with you until 4:30pm earliest check-in.

• Stefanie (10/5): Liebevolles Zimmer in top Lage - Ich habe bereits zum 6. Mal dort übernachtet und freue mich jedes Mal auf die liebevolle Einrichtung und die aufmerksamen Details. Die Unterkunft liegt sehr nah an der Fähre und man kann von dort sehr gut zu Fuß in die Innenstadt laufen.

There is no separate area for eating or breakfast. The stairs are quite steep. The building is rather old, so there’s a musty smell, which they seem to try to mask with strong air fresheners.

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié l'accueil de notre hôtesse qui nous a permis d'accéder à la chambre plus tôt que prévu. La chambre était bien chauffée, calme, propre et confortable. La vue de notre chambre sur l'arrière de la maison était belle. Le débit d'eau dans la douche un peu faible.

We didn't initially opt for breakfast, but it was unavailable at the time we stayed. The thermostat on the shower was a bit inconsistent.

Service when contacting by phone and message communicafion was also great. Small qulit for double bed and wasnt very warm

All the supplies are there - coffee, tea, heating, ventilator… By mistake I booked the sigle room with external bathroom which itself is super nice, clean and with everything you need, but a bit uncomfortable if you need to go to the toilet in the middle of the night. But it’s more personal rather than a hotel problem.

Parkplatz vor dem Haus war vorhanden, aber zu eng für unseren Ford Nugget. Gut, dass genau gegenüber ein anderer Parkplatz vorhanden war, den man am Wochenende nicht bezahlen musste.

Der var ingen morgenmad selvom der var reklameret med en restaurent, og der hang skilte på værelserne om hvorvidt man havde allergier i forhold til mad og kunne tale med personalet om det!!! Der var intet mad og intet personale!

Te warm, daardoor met ramen open geprobeerd te slapen, maar door de ligging aan een drukke weg, veel geluidsoverlast en dus weinig geslapen. Er was een ventilator aanwezig, maar die vonden wij ook niet fijn. De badkamer in kamer 6 was klein. Te klein. Mijn man is groot (2 meter) en paste nauwelijks in de douche. Kon zich in de douche nauwelijks bewegen

Die Ausstattung ist wie in einer Jugendherberge. Frühstück wird gar nicht angeboten.

• James (8/5): - We stayed here the night before our cruise was to leave out of Dover in late July. We were able to walk to the hotel from Dover Priory. You do need to ring the door bell and wait for the hostess to let you into the from door at the B&B. Our room was nice and spacious with its own en-suite bathroom, but it did not have air if that is a need for you. They provided you with a fan and it made comfortable for sleeping. You are close to dining, Dover Castle and the cliffs of Dover. We chose to walk to the port from our hotel and it was about 35 minutes. Some areas around the hotel need attention. If you need a cab they are available, but on cruise days the wait can be long to get a cab.

• Linda (4/5): Not Happy - My stay here was difficult at best. Listing states “restaurant.” There is No restaurant. Listing mentioned “breakfast.” There is no breakfast. There is no laundry as stated. And, worst of all, there is no flexibility whatsoever on 4:30 check-in. My overseas plane arrived at 0630 and I arrived at this place at 10:00. The owner acted as if I was an intruder at the door and firmly stated 4:30! I explained my situation and offered to pay more if I could access my room earlier. No! By 2:30 after 30 hours of no sleep, I came back and told the owner I did not feel safe any longer wondering around Dover without any sleep. I asked if I could sit on the stairs outside. She said no, that I could go to a park and wait there for 2 more hours. Absolutely no flexibility or concern whatsoever for guest. I did meet other guests staying who expressed the same opinion of this place. So, while the rate is attractive, I would definitely pay more for a better place.
• Karen (8/5): Well located but noisy - Great location in Dover, walkable to town centre, cliffs and Dover Priory station. We were in room 6 which was at the front of the property on the top floor, two flights of stairs, no lift, which is normal in English properties. The room was a very good size and spotlessly clean. Towels were changed daily and bins emptied. Bed is comfortable. Host and daughter are very friendly and helpful. The only downside we found was the traffic noise from main road and very loud seagulls, when the windows are closed it is quiet but you need to use the fan which is very effective but sounds like a small aircraft, either way you will need sleep earplugs or noise cancelling earbuds to sleep

• Lisa (7/5): Our stay was adequate to our needs and there was a great view of Dover Castle from the window of one of our rooms. I wou - It was a good location for what we needed. The price was reasonable. We had a lot of luggage as we were preparing to embark on a 2 week cruise, and all of the rooms were up a narrow and steep stairway. The stairway was not well lit and not air conditioned so it was stuffy. The rooms were nice but a bit cramped with all the luggage. The hostess was helpful in getting our luggage put away and in ordering a taxi for us for the next day, but she seemed in a hurry for us to leave.
